We ordered from here tonight on door dash. While the order was made quickly, it didn't take much time since the sandwiches were made so terribly. There's minimal dressings, almost no avocado on them, copious amounts of cheese and almost no meat. The bread was rock hard and tasted like it was so cold it was frozen. Seriously, don't bother with this place. I really wish there was a lower rating than 1 star!! This location is awful!!! I ordered delivery online and immediately called because the building I work in is under construction and there is only 1 entrance for deliveries. I gave clear instructions on where to meet me and what to do. The lady said thank you we will make sure the driver knows. An hour goes by...my sandwich is now an hour late and nothing...So, I call JJs again and turns out my sandwich was delivered an hour late the instructions where not followed, the driver went in the wrong entrance and left my sandwich with a man. Waited forever for my delivery and the JJ app is the worst. I also added bacon and avocado to my sandwich and it was all shoved into the crease of the sandwich and almost no avocado at all. I collected on a credit I had today, and I was very impressed, to say the least! What was normally a great sandwich already, this one was extra special, the bread was amazing! I'm always a little bummed by the bottom of the bread being to firm, even hard at times. The bread today was super soft, top to bottom, superbly delicious. This is by far my favorite JJ in the area. It was the go to late night after hitting downtown and if I need a delivery, they are always quick, pleasant and I'm pleased with my order. It's hard to give any chain all five, but this iteration of JJ's deserves a lot better than a 2.5 star average. While I usually order delivery, there have been a couple of occasions when drunken sandwich-eating seemed like a good idea, so I feel as though I have a fairly decent picture of both the take-out and dine-in experience here. And as far as I'm concerned, it's fantastic. My endorsement is further bolstered by events which transpired there after a particularly revelrous evening, the aftermath of which left me thoroughly hung-over and in desperate need of food I didn't have to cook. It was one of those nights that turned into morning with nary a wink of sleep, and JJ's was the only thing open within a reasonable distance of my location, so I dropped in around 9:30 a.m. Despite not having any bread cooked - because why would they that early in the morning? - they happily made me an unwich, no questions asked. If I could select zero stars I would. Today I went at 830pm. I had called the store earlier in the day to see what their hours were, they said they close at 9. When I walked to the door, their lights were all on including the outdoor neon ones and the open sign was still showing. I went to open the door and it was locked, and all I could see from inside was the workers laughing at me while sitting on their phones. This is the 3rd time the same occurrence has happened. As someone who works in a restaurant, I understand being irritated if a customer shows up right before close. However, I showed up to a "fast food" place 30 minutes prior to closing, which should not be an issue considering it takes them less than 5 minutes to complete a 2 sandwich order. After hanging out at the Mud Lounge, and eyeing their panini menu for a good half hour, my coworker convinced me to cross the street and try out Jimmy John's. Yes, surprising but true - this was my first experience with Jimmy John's. I got #12 without Provolone. OMG yum! How can anything possibly go wrong with avocado and sprouts involved, right? Until I read some of the other reviews on here, I had no idea there were bread options so I got the standard white sub bread. It was not as soft as Subway's but not as hard as Quizno's, just perfect. Excellent sandwich - as usual. I usually go to the one in my hometown but was visiting family and dropped in on this one. Counter guy forgot to ask what kind of bread I wanted, and I didn't realize it 'til he handed me my sandwich on the sub bread - which I don't like. In their defense, he immediately remade it on the yummy 7 grain with minimal eye rolling. Don't like that they charge for water. I don't care about the fancy Jimmy John's cup - plain cup is just fine for my water. read more

I used to have Jimmy John's once a week...but where I was the JJ's near me was the worse! But I've ordered here 4 times in the past 2 weeks and these guys do a great job! You get a lot for your money, and the food is pretty good too. It has a kind of malt shop feel about it, minus the dime malt of course, but, that is neither here or there, because it is a delight of itself. It does play the music rather loud, but, that's the Jimmy John's charm, and there are tables on the outside. There is bicycle parking, at the corner of Walnut and Jefferson. read more

Jimmy John's, like no other. My first visit began with a cocky sandwich maker telling me which sandwich I wanted. Well, ya know, he was right. AND he was right for my pal. And we keep going back! If you're into "no bread", you can have your sandwich rolled up with lettuce. I haven't had a bad sandwich yet. The chips are great too. It's Jimmy Johns! It's nothing super special but this one is very clean and the people working there are friendly and cool! The manager even treated me very nice on my second visit. It's also a good place to go get a late night snack or meal for carry out. I've done that a few times and it's a life saver when I'm busy and forget to get groceries. read more

Unfortunately I can't give them zero stars, so we'll have to settle, reluctantly, for one. I took a party of eight in there today to get some lunch prior to seeing The Nutcracker ballet across the street at the Landers. I'd only been in a Jimmy John's once before, elsewhere in Springfield, and it had been okay so I thought we'd give it another shot. The radio in this one was on so loud that I literally could not hear to talk with the person on the other side of the counter. Right across the counter from her and I couldn't hear what she was saying. And I'm not deaf. So I asked if they could possibly turn it down a bit and she refused, saying that "corporate" said the volume had to be "between 40 and 44." And no amount of reasoning or asking could change it. Nor did it even matter that we were the ONLY customers in the restaurant. (!!!!) She said that "corporate" insisted that the restaurant be "loud, fun and obnoxious." Well, believe me, it was zero fun at all yelling back and forth and trying to understand, again and again, what the woman was saying. It was zero fun trying to hear my wife, sometimes successfully and sometimes not, when I was standing right next to her. But they definitely got the "obnoxious" part right. If we hadn't been in such a rush, and if we'd had ANY other alternative for lunch, we would've left without buying anything. As it was, we had to scream back and forth to get our order, and then retreat across the street and eat outside on the steps of a church across the street. This is mid to late December we're talking about. Just before Christmas. And we're eating outdoors on the steps of a church because the restaurant environment is just too loud to bear. Obviously these people don't give a DAMN about actual customers. And even though this review is for Jimmy John's on Walnut Street in Springfield, MO, the experience was so horribly awful that I'll NEVER set foot in any Jimmy John's ever again, anywhere, for as long as I live. ------------------ Update: I complained to Jimmy John's via their web site and did receive a reply the next day: John, Thank you for taking the time to write. And the absolute refusal to turn it down even just a little bit so that the only customers in the restaurant could hear each other without having to yell across the table was just ludicrous. My experience at Jimmy John's Glenstone location was outstanding only for its complete lack of consideration for the customer. --Since none of us had been there before, I told the counter guy that we'd need a couple of minutes to look over the choices, and he rolled his eyes, and then just stared at us. He offered no help, no suggestions, no "take your time". --We were not offered bread options, although he did get huffy when one of us wanted just a sandwich and no chips or drink. --Our sandwiches were made in good time, although in fairness, we were the only customers in there. --The bread was tough, the meats flavorless, and the toppings sparse. The chips, on the other hand, were quite good. --There were no napkins in sight. One of us got up to look for some, and came back empty-handed. It was only the off-duty employee hanging out in the back (and leaning over to check out my friend's butt) who offered napkins from behind the counter. --There were no lids for the drinks. We wondered about this but didn't ask. As we were leaving and throwing away our cups, another employee spoke up and showed us that there were lids: 20 feet away, around the corner, and BEHIND THE COUNTER. "Yeah, they're kinda hard to see here, ha ha." --The restaurant itself was cold enough to want to keep your coat on. --The music, as others have mentioned, was entirely too loud and more shouting than music. It was so bad that the TEENAGERS in our group were the first to complain. We were still the only customers in there, and we asked if it could be turned down. The answer was obviously the standard line about "corporate settings". I am an easy going person normally. But this was such a bad experience that I ended up apologizing to everyone for having suggested it. I will not eat there again, and do not recommend it for anything more than the chips. read more

I longed after a Gargantuan for soooo long it wasn't even funny. I went to Columbia for a weekend to hang out with a girl, only to really want a gourmet sandwich from their location. Then Springfield acquired one, then two. I love this store. I have probably had more sandwiches from this place than any other sandwich establishment in town and they have only been open a little over a year. In that time, their name has far exceeded the original expectations. The sandwiches are unique and inviting. Each one has a little piece of flair all its own. While more standard sub shops exhist, Jimmy has made a product that demands attention. I concur Jimmy when says, "Your mom wants you to eat at Jimmy John's!" -- Mine does. read more

I walked in for a quick sandwich pick up with my boyfriend before he was due at work. (He works a little later in the day, so it's not morning.) The cashier didn't greet us or say anything at all. She didn't offer to take our order. We stood awkwardly, thinking that in all honesty, she could just not be ready? Nope. The two people preparing sandwiches made eye contact as if waiting, so i stepped up and smiled, hoping for some sign she was ready. Nothing. Nada. I cautiously said, "Hello.... (insert order)" and she still said nothing at all. She looked younger and i get the idea that she might've been new, and honestly i could've simply asked if she was ready before this point to clear up any confusion, so that part didn't really matter. If the wait had been long, i would've been more annoyed about her complete lack of participation, but it only costed me 5 minutes total. Something that none of the workers can control, but that dislike, is the prices. The prices are $6.25 for a simple "Turkey Tom" (#4). Which entails some kind of subpar lunch meat that's a little spongey and processed, some tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, mayo and cucumber, if you ask, all on white plain sub bread. Anything else will cost extra. Not that it matters, there's nothing extra mentioned on any menu for you to choose from. No chips or drink are included in that price. When i picked my sandwhich up at the end of the bar, the lady there was very nice and told us to have a great day. On my way out, the cashier waved and smiled. The first thing i noticed when i opened the wrapper was that I thought there was nothing on it. It just looked like plain white sub bread. I opened the sandwich to find about 6 slices of perfectly circular processed meat, a lot of mayo, an okay amount of tomatoes, and a little lettuce with lots of cucumbers. The first two inches of this sandwhich are completely untouched by any of these items, so i tear it off and set it aside. The sandwich itself is fine. Nothing special, and i could make a much better one for a lot cheaper. I honestly only come here maybe every 9 months, when i forget what it's like. My advice? Go to picklemans. Better portions, options, sandwhiches, and quality. read more

I want to like this place. When the sandwiches are prepared right, they are good. But 90 percent of the time they aren't. We order from their app and make use of the customize feature. Almost every time something is not as we ordered. For instance tonight we ordered 2 Italian Night Club sandwiches, which are supposed to have twice the meat. Not only did I not get the extra lettuce I requested but I received half the meat as my husband - essentially getting a Vito. Now I can live without the extra lettuce, but the Italian Night Club COSTS MORE. It's always something with this place. There is no consistency. Seriously? You say you haven't tried Jimmy John's? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? Let's delve into the beautiful simplicity of a JJ sandwich. It's one bread. When you say you want a sandwich, you get a sandwich, not a dozen questions about all the crap that goes on it. You are a guest, not an employee. They prepare for you (okay, done with my Subway soap box). The bread is an amazing French loaf baked fresh daily in house. You can buy yesterdays bread for super super cheap which is awesome in soups and chili. The meats are delicious and taste like turkey, ham or their respective purpose and not some conglomerate of meat-ish products. My all-time go to is the #16, Club Lulu (basically a turkey sandwich with bacon) with sprouts. Delicious. The best part about JJ? They deliver. THEY BRING THE SANDWICH TO YOU. In less that like, 20 minutes usually. I got one at my house in 12 minutes once. No lie. Give them a shot. read more

I've gone to this location a number of times and have never had a good experience. They have gotten my order wrong twice and they take forever compared to other locations. It's a bunch of college kids in there and they are always so slow preparing the sandwhiches. Normally I wouldn't care about a few minutes but in a place that advertises that they are fast I expect better. Go to another location if you can as this one is being run into the ground. read more
