I've had nothing but good experiences at Jimmy Max. They've been around a long time, I remember after dancing school when I was little we would get pizza here. I highly recommend the Mary Max pizza or hero (chicken franchese with mozzarella)- it's so delicious!! I've had their red sangria which is really good too. Friday nights they usually have a singer with a guitar and it's an older crowd. The staff is always super friendly no matter how crowded it gets. I've heard this location is way better than the Great Kills one. Every time I go to a fundraiser at a school or a catering hall I always see Jimmy Max donates gift certificates for free pizza once a month for a year! That kind of generosity is nice to see. read more

I highly recommend this place. Been coming here for probably 20 years or so, and have never been disappointed. Great pizza and a nice menu with something for everyone. Plus, a great bar if that's your thing. The last time I ate here, I shared two small/personal pies; the Jimmy Max Special and a Sausage Pie... as well as the Fried Calamari as an appetizer. Everything was exceptionally delicious, and more than enough for two hungry men. We couldn't finish everything... Something cool about the Bar is that there are two chairs reserved with nameplates for a couple locals, who I believe were Firefighters and have long been retired and spend their days (every single day) at the bar, in the same seats they have been sitting in for many years. My first time here and the food much better than I expected. Had the crab and shrimp stuffed cod. Kids had pizza and a cheeseburger. They were fine with it. Crowded for a fundraiser event so a bit loud but service was swift and the food was very very good. The overall atmosphere was regular normal people with families and thats what I like. Waiter a little bit stuffy but it was a bit crazy with all the kids so I understand that. We will be going back again. read more

My parents and I ate here on the last day of our trip to Chicago and the Atlantic Northeast about four and a half years ago. We were in a bit of a hurry to get to the airport, so we wanted to grab a quick and easy bite. The three of us agreed on Jimmy Max as it seemed to fit what we were looking for. At first glance, the place appears to be designed for families with kids. There is a children's menu, as well as pizza-making tables on select days. I don't have kids myself, but I'm sure my future children would love it here. The prices at Jimmy Max were above average, and the servings were also kind of small. The combination of the prices and the serving sizes makes everything seem fairly expensive. That said, the food was pretty filling despite the smaller servings, and we felt no need to order more than one item per person. Overall, our experience at Jimmy Max was fairly positive, and we would definitely consider coming back here should we ever visit the area again. -- TL;DR version -- Highs: Great for families; very stylish Lows: Above-average lunch prices; relatively small servings Bottom line: Prices aside, Jimmy Max is a nice place for a meal for people with or without kids. A-ok. The food here is always solid. Not super. The pasta fagioli soup was canned beans and lacked flavor, needed a lot of parmesan cheese and pepper. The meat pie was the pizza off the month and was too much in my opinion. The regular cheese pie is crispy and good. Paying $6 for a pitcher of club soda is kinda whack. Came for dinner on a busy Friday night, we called ahead and they said they didn't take reservations. We got there about a half hour earlier than the third person in our party to get a table and were told about a half hour wait, but ended up waiting about an hour to get a table. Cool place, but extremely loud, do not go here if you want to chat with anyone in your party. There was live music on this night, but even before that it was very loud, but we had taken and Uber there so could not easily change plans. Food was good and our service was also okay. When we ordered though, 2 of us were going to be sharing a salad and a bar pie. The waitress told us that the bar pie was only 3 pieces and suggested we might want a second one, so we ordered 2. When it came out it was the size of a large plate(9-10 inches) and it was 6 pieces, not 3, we could have shared one bar pie for 2 of us. We did end up using the leftovers at our hotel and it was fine, but just wanted others that go to know the size of the bar pie. read more

Very disappointed. I haven't been here in a couple of years, but in the past had always enjoyed the food & family friendly atmosphere; not this time. Upon entering, the dining room was filled with smoke & a burnt oder (i assume a kitchen mishap, but no explanation offered from staff) & the decor looked shabby. Service was slow & bad. Apps & entrees arrived together. Couldn't get drinks refilled. Additional items were "mistakenly" added to the check. The food, including the usually reliable pizza, was just Ehh. "Where's Jimmy or a manager tonight?", is what we were thinking. Fond memories but probably won't return. read more

Do not order from this place during the day. You will be put on hold for extended periods of time, you will have to call back multiple times, you will be dealing with people on the phone who are distracted with other tasks because they are understaffed. Go there instead, and deal with people in-person. The food is great, but the staff is below-standard when you call in an order. I suggest calling a local competitor when you need food delivered... They make the best burgers in the world, their pizza is just perfect, and I love their entrees like chicken parm or marsala. Their servings are huge and I usually get 2 meals from an order. Love the pizza and the crabby bread is the best! However, the one time I venture to the hero section of the menu and order a Merry Max, I get food poisoning. Maybe that is why their health inspection grade was pending for such a long time. I'll eventually go back, but only for the pizza. read more

This is one of the nicest places to relax and have a great meal with friends or family. The atmosphere is lovely, the food is delicious, prices are great and, the service is wonderful. Jimmy Max has been a go to spot for my wife and I. We are huge fans of their bar pies, calzones, mozzarella sticks, and other apps. We order almost weekly from them and have never been disappointed. Delivery time is normally 30-40 minutes. We prefer take-out over dinning in simply because the noise level is a little over whelming. They pride themselves on being kid friendly and I can tell you the night were there they are true to their word. I think it's great that they have created a friendly and inviting environment for families, just a bit too loud for us. Came here for an "organized" event where the host of the event called the restaurant in advance to ensure that there would be a room reserved for guests. When my party arrived at the restaurant we were informed that there was no room reserved, the person in charge of organizing the reservation messed up and we had to wait to be seated. Ok things happen. It ended up that we had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes to get in. It's a Wednesday night. The the hostess was not helpful or reassuring about when we would finally get to be seated. After we were FINALLY seated it took the waitress 20 minutes to actually take our food order and ignored us when we tried to call her over. Perhaps Staten Island's best pizza. Service was great. Only problem was when we ordered extra tap water, we got two sparkling instead which were quickly replaced with tap. It is a bit crowded inside (tables too close together) so that when my boyfriend and I were getting up from our table to leave, the nearest table filled with several 7th grade girls (and no adult) was in the way. Actually because the tables were so close the girls were in the way and obviously had better things to do than to push their chair a few centimeters so he could get out. read more

I ate here for the first time 1 week ago .... we ordered the "who cares" pie and some wings ... The pie was very busy but there was no big flavor to it... I think it had to many toppings that just shouldn't go together.. the wings were undercooked and didn't taste like anything, they tasted like so frozen generic chicken I wasn't impressed. I couldn't see what all the hype was about the wings or the pizza ... I probably will continue to just drive by this place read more

I can't comment on the Watchogue location, but the newly created Bay Terrace one is great. I've eaten both inside and ordered out and both have been great. The pizza is delicious and the wraps are great too. read more

an update to my previous review.... I will never step foot in Jimmy Max again or order from them. They installed a cell phone tower on top of the restaurant....this tower is massive and I am very concerned with the radiation it is giving off to the patrons as well as others in the area.
