As many yelpers have mentioned you can't find a nicer or more appreciative owner than Jimmy. I knew what I wanted, but he was so helpful guiding me on what picky children would like (chicken fried rice and kids ramen). I found myself thinking that even if I didn't like the food I'd be ordering on a regular basis just to support Jimmy, but the food turned out to be good too. I joined the rest of Jimmy's fan club in a line of cars for curbside pickup (the only type of takeout we're doing during Covid-19). I called and they brought it right to my car...just 25 minutes after I placed my order. As for our food: Fresh Thai Rolls: The entire fam (including kids enjoyed) Chicken pad thai: delicious Beef pad see ew: we didn't love the beef (a bit rubbery), but the rest of the dish was good so I would order vegetable or chicken next time Chicken Fried Rice: As Jimmy predicted kids enjoyed & he had even thrown this in for free Kids Ramen: The kids cleaned up 2 orders of this pretty fast Overall great service, tasty thai food and probably one of the more affordable meals we've enjoyed for takeout during this time. $40 to feed my family of 5. They do curbside and in their receipt the break down 15% to 25% tip. Which irritates me. BUT, let's move on to the food. A staff member came out right away to ask my name and brought me the shrimp fried rice I ordered. It had 3 small shrimp in it and wasn't cooked with a scrambled egg in it. Otherwise, I was okay in taste. It's hard to recommend a food place when the first time you ever order from them wasn't really that good.but they are a Thai place so maybe their other food is a lot better. Pad Thai was really tasty and not dry like so many other places. Also loved the firm texture of the tofu in my dish. The service here is top notch! We stopped by for lunch and we're greeted immediately. They gave us bottled water as soon as we were seated. The menu is extensive since you have the option of getting Thai and/or Ramen from their menu. We ended up trying the lunch specials and went with the Panang curry and the basil chicken. The lunch specials come with an appetizer so we decided to try one of each. The crab Rangoon was delicious but the highlight for appetizers was definitely the potstickers. They also gave us the option for extra basil and extra garlic with the basil chicken which just further enhanced the dish. We liked it so much we ended up ordering more to go in anticipation of the snow storm later in the evening. We also got the Pad woon sen to go and that was just delightful with the perfect balance of umami. I ordered for pickup and my meal was ready earlier than expected (a nice perk!). We ordered pad see ew with beef, pad Thai with chicken, and panang curry with chicken. Since our order was just over $35, we also got a free order of crab Rangoon! Overall, the food was just okay. The pad see ew noodles were very bland- as if they were missing sauce. The veg and beef were good! The pad Thai was also a bit bland and did not excite me. The panang curry was delicious and definitely the best out of the 3 dishes we tried. I heard so many good things about Jimmy Thai and was excited to try it for the very first time. The Chicken Satay appetizer was really delicious - Thai grilled chicken, marinated in light curry, served with delicious peanut sauce, and cucumber salad. If I didn't order anything else and just rated on the chicken satay it would be a five star experience BUT I also had the chicken Pad Thai which really was a large plate of wet overcooked peanut noodles. I really don't know how to describe it correctly the noodles were mushy mixed with peanut sauce diluted in hot boiling water from noodles. It maybe a cooking technique I don't know. Something is not right. The service was very attentive we actually had more than 3 different servers come to the table bringing dishes, taking plates, taking orders, all dressed the same all sharing the same duties and it was hard to figure out who was the main person, and that is probably the main reason why I didn't say I hated the Pad Thai so much, also to remake something would take time and my party was already done with their meal. Got takeout from here this past weekend when passing through this area: pad see ew, fried basil rice, potstickers, crab rangoon, spring rolls and a side of peanut sauce. Everything was pretty good, but nothing I'd go out of my way for again. I really liked the peanut sauce as far as taste but I had to keep stirring it because it was so oily. Let me start by saying that the service is very good; very friendly, attentive staff. Also good is the menu; lots to choose from on a clearly understandable menu. This longtime restaurant recently moved to a different space in the same mall. I'm not sure if it's any larger but it is more visible, up front now in the mall. The problem with this new space is acoustics. There is one large room and then a smaller area. We sat in the smaller, less bustling area but the acoustics were awful back there, I suppose it's possible that the 1 other family in there was just particularly loud, but, we just seemed to only be hearing them (loudly). We chose an appetizer of fish cakes, 1 noodle dish, and 1 pineapple fried rice. The fish cakes were ok but what stood out was the accompanying spicy sauce, we really enjoyed the sauce. Unfortunately, the noodle dish which was supposed to be spicy wasn't spicy at all. Both the noodle dish and the fried rice dish were cooked with far too much oil. I love Thai food, I love that Jimmy stopped by our table to greet us, I loved the service. I like the pricing and the parking. So, I will be back and I'll just ask for less oil and more spice. read more

Same familiar Thai Cuisine that was here when it was Thai Thai, except in an updated setting. The food is still average, where it does fulfill a craving for Thai food -- but is not good enough where you'd make a special trip to come out here. But, given the general lack of good options in the area, it does fulfill a need. For me, the fried appetizers are still the main reason to come here -- egg rolls and crab rangoon are nice, hot, and satisfying. The actual Thai dishes fall a little short for me as I find the Pad Thai sauce a little too sweet, curry not spicy enough, and peanut sauce a bit light in flavor. The meats and noodles also tend to be a bit soft in texture, although the vegetables are fresh and colorful. Overall, if you're eating Thai around Deerfield, this is probably your best bet - there's not too many good Thai options within 3 miles of this area. read more

We found this place after Covid hit so we've only gotten take out from here. And have been back many times. Everything has been so delicious! Personally..and this is just a personal opinion many Thai places the food happens to be way too sweet for me. Even if I order the highest spice level. I am not a fan of sweet foods at all. Again this is just my personal opinion and most people I speak with disagree with me. But I enjoyed that here I was able to get a spice level and actually taste some spice. There are not many places that actually deliver a nice spice even when ordering the highest up.. (Besides the places who have ridiculous spice levels that are not tasty)..I am in no way trying to scare anyone off who does not like spicy here like I said I ordered the highest one. The chicken satay was so juicy and its one of the better chicken satays i have tried. Hubby loved his green curry and I enjoyed my pad see ew. My review pretty much mirrors that of Sherwin C. I give it 3.5 stars. I found the food to be average at the best and that's based on the three dishes I had in my first (and only) visit. I have been curious about this place based on the reviews but after eating here I was quite surprised that it's rated so high. I don't understand that. Not that anything is wrong with that. I am just expressing an opinion. I liked the restaurant decor and ambiance, the service, the menu options and the prices. That's all good. They even a Ramen menu. However, the Thai food which what they are known for wasn't really tasty at all beyond average. And I felt that way based on eating multiple dishes. I had their spring rolls, Khao Soy and Pad Kee Mao. None of these dishes stood out to me in any way in terms of flavor. I have had enough Thai food where if I try some common dishes, I can tell almost right away whether it's good or not based on the taste (of course, I am not an expert in Thai food or a chef or any such thing, so things can be subjective). But when I had the Khao Soy, for example, I felt a lack of the distinct flavor that's usually associated with Khao Soy. I asked for my dish to be made spicy but it was a low level spicy dish. The salt was a bit lacking (which is fine in terms of health and all). There's a certain amount of sweetness you can taste in Khao Soy that was lacking. The crispy noodles that sit on the top of the Khao Soy bowl weren't quite the normal crispy ones. I have had better. And just so that I am not mistaken or wrongly assessing the food I ate at the restaurant, I ordered their Pad Kee Mao to go so I can compare this other dish in terms of its quality, flavor and how good it is. Aside from the huge portion, the Pad Kee Mao was a let down. Again, a lack of distinct flavor that I usually associate with that dish. Average tasting at best. My wife had the chicken Red Curry dish which was quite tasty. But otherwise, even the spring rolls were so so. I am glad I checked this place out and now I know how the food tastes. I can't go with the four or five star reviews as the food is average at best and the decor, ambiance, service, menu options and prices aren't enough to rate it that high. I would like to go back to try their Ramen dishes but as far thai food is concerned, I have had better elsewhere. read more
