Choices are indeed limited in the Chicago burbs, and Jimmy's Thai is okay for the area for what it is. Management is very friendly and accommodating during COVID-19 2020. They bring your food literally to your car upon request. We also received complimentary egg rolls with our meal. I ordered the Yellow Curry chicken. I ordered it spicy. The dish itself was actually pretty good, but it was not spicy. I had to actually add chili sauce to get it to a spice level worthy for my taste buds. When applied, the dish tasted as it was intended to be. I guess the chef is afraid that his clientele won't like a spicier dish. But that's what Thai dishes are all about. Being from L.A. a 4/10 on the spice level literally will singe your taste buds. I cannot even imagine what a ten is, let alone an 8 on L.A.'s metric of spice. read more

Very complex flavors to the broth and they did not skimp on the vegetables and meats in any of their dishes. Their basil chicken was also outstanding 5/5 !! Ground chicken was moist and flavorful. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. Pad se mew was good for what it was. Would get it again if craving noodles. But the ramen and chicken basil was on another level! Excited to come back. I've been here a couple times for lunch. The menu is limited, but the food is fairly good, if not particularly exciting. You order at the counter, and have just enough time to absorb the large rendering of the menu on the wall as you wait in line. The first time, I chose something with noodles and chicken. Meh. The second, I tried fried rice with chicken -- much better! The side of crab rangoon was good, too. Large round tables provide a good place for a couple carloads of co-workers to gather and chat. Food is brought fairly promptly, then you're on your own -- drink refills are available from the soda machine along one wall. Portions are large -- both times I've taken some home with me, in one of the self-serve containers that sit by the soda machine. Would this be my first choice for Thai? No, but my first choice is too far away to get to during the work week, so this is a more than adequate alternate for a quick lunch with work friends. read more

I visited Jimmy Thai for lunch with one of my co-workers as he wanted to try their ramen bowl. There was quite a bit of people inside the restaurant when we arrived. Jimmy Thai is located in the same shopping center as the DMV. You can build your own ramen bowl or order one of their lunch specials. My co-worker opted build his own ramen bowl. I opted to go for the lunch special which you got an appetizer and an entree. I ordered the Crab Rangoon and the Basil Chicken with vegetables and also comes with a side of steamed rice. The lunches also came with drinks from the soda fountain, which is a nice benefit of it being included. You order at the counter and they give you a number. They will then bring the food out to you. The portion sizes were pretty good, but the crab rangoon was mostly a fried won-ton with a little bit of crab filling. The basil chicken had great seasoning although it did taste a little salty. My co-worker enjoyed his ramen, but I think he would have ordered something different next time. Overall, I am glad I checked this place out and it might be in our lunch rotation in the future as there were a few other dishes that we would have liked to try as well. One of the few options for Thai in the area, but I have had better elsewhere. read more

Visited Jimmy Thai's at their new location (other end of the same strip mall). Love the new restaurant, it's bright, cheerful and very welcoming. We were welcomed right away when we walked in and were taken to our table (order at table - other reviews said you order at counter, maybe this changed with location). We had the chicken satay, pad kee mao and basil mussels. The chicken satay was delicious. Nice pieces of well seasoned chicken served with a creamy peanut sauce. I am not normally a fan of peanut sauces as I find them overwhelming or bland. This sauce had a very lovely taste and I loved the richness of it with the lightness of the chicken. The pad kee mao was very good and is generally one of our go-to items. I especially like it here because it has a lighter taste and doesn't seem so weighted down as some noodle dishes can be. My favorite dish on this trip though was the basil mussels. They were an explosion of flavor in every bite. I mixed my rice into the sauce and was tempted to licked the plate clean, but I am a lady so I just eyed it longingly instead. I really enjoying dining at this restaurant. The owner and staff are always super friendly and definitely make you feel welcomed - kind of like stopping at an uncle's house for a meal. My mom loved this place and introduced me to it. I love it too. I got used to always sharing the veggie ramen with her. Now I always get it just the spicy version instead of mild. It's vegetarian not vegan but you could probably order it vegan. The owner and employees are very friendly and accommodating. The ramen is my go to meal and I'll get it with either fried or soft tofu. Both delicious. The fresh cold spring roles are my favorite appetizer. A touch different than the typical Thai style but tasty. I've had the pad se ew and curry dishes which are also very good dishes. When you eat in fountain drinks are free which is nice. Just a really good Thai restaurant that offers all the usual dishes and the best is definitely the ramen. This is the only Thai ramen I've seen as far as I know and the way it's done is just so good. The Tom Kha is also very delicious but the ramen is what's unique and what I almost always get. I've been here many times and don't plan on stopping. Lol read more

Have been to Thai Thai several times thru out the years. First time at Jimmy Thai!! Walk in and you order at the counter. Choice of Thai or ramen noodle dishes. My husband is a noodle guy, so he was pleasantly surprised that was an option. The owner jimmy took our order and was so friendly and helpful about the options with the ramen. The ramen came with six chicken potstickers. Very yummy! I ordered the bankock basil chicken.it said no veggies but he asked if I would like some. Also came with 3 three crab Rangoon. Such a great place. The owner is incredibly welcoming and nice. Just walking in feels like a warm hug. I've ordered from here a number of times for different things and everything I've tried is pretty great. I have a hard time finding good pad thai that's not TOO sweet but I feel like they have a great balance on it. My husband hates Thai food for some reason but he'll even steal a few bites of my food because it's good. He doesn't do that when I order from any other Thai place. My new go to Thai restaurant! I messaged Jimmy Thai through Facebook to find out if they could make any vegan dishes. I received a very quick response that most dishes can in fact be made vegan! Pad Thai and Tom Yum aren't able to be made without fish sauce, but there are plenty of other options. I decided to order online for curbside pickup. The online ordering system is very easy to use and gives multiple places to provide custom requests. When I pulled up to the restaurant, they quickly brought out my order. Easy peasy! I ordered Pad See Ew with vegetables and my husband ordered Pad Kee Mao with tofu. We ordered basil fried rice with vegetables to share. All the dishes were delicious, but the fried rice was my favorite. It had just the right amount of spice and a great smoky flavor. The prices are also very reasonable with good size portions. Jimmy Thai is doing an excellent job during this difficult time with Covid-19. They are doing a good job of managing how many people are in their restaurant at one time to pick up orders and also offer the curbside delivery that I used. read more

Jimmy Thai is one of those hidden gems that you kind of have to go out of your way to find! The food is always amazing and the staff/owner is ALWAYS so welcoming and nice.
