Nobody ever had the confidence he had to be able to cover it completely. In a few sessions Conrad had the entire upper arm completely covered with a sick piece that everyone I've shown loves! Now, I have been up and down all over Fairway Drive back in the day.. so this shop was new to me. When I first walked in... I had to pick my jaw up of their floor. This has got to be the most beautiful tattoo/body piercing shop I have ever been to. If you are a plant lover, your going to be in heaven! Find something to pierce or tattoo just so you can enjoy the feng shui space they have created. I felt peaceful and with harmony.. I first spoke to Jay. Rad dude! He was tattooing an octopus when I walked in. Then I met Tessa. She helped me find my jewelery and even installed it for me to help me get on my way faster. While here, I got to meet Athena, who's tattoos I have seen in Instagram before coming here, so it was very cool to meet someone I have only seen online. I also noticed them taking special care to consult with and guide folks who were new to tattoos without coming across as condescending, which was really awesome. A huge shout out to Travis. He was super friendly and communicative and really collaborated with me to nail down a design I loved. He executed the tattoo to perfection as well and added a bunch of details that made my memorial tattoo really sing. He even took the time after I left to message me with some aftercare tips. But was recently in the shop to get a smaller design, as an appointment opened up on Nick's schedule. When we arrived the shop was just opening up and Nick's happily greeted us, as he finished up setting up his work area. The shop itself has a nice layout and really inviting environment, with the small waterfall up front near the merch area. And the nice scents and decor and the waiting area up front. The array of art pieces and assorted tattoo related books, brings together the unique elements of this shop. The shop is also large enough, to have a setup for 5 artists to work comfortably. Once ready, Nick's took my girlfriends ideas and example images and freehand drew her piece on. Piecing together the elements she wanted while adding his artistic spin to it; even adding an additional piece that he felt complimented her idea. Eli Rushing was my artist, and he took me as a walk-in. I came in wanting to get my newborn son's footprints tattooed on each side of my Tree of Life. We bounced around a few ideas and landed on a design I was really excited about. Eli absolutely nailed it. We had great conversation throughout the session, and once it was done, I was genuinely blown away by the finished piece. On a whim, I also asked if he'd be willing to touch up some faded Hawaiian islands I have on my other arm, and he didn't hesitate. He was happy to do it, which I really appreciated. The pricing was very fair, and I tipped well because I felt he absolutely deserved it. That was fully my choice, just based on the quality of the work and the overall experience. Everyone coming through the shop was friendly, talkative, and welcoming. Even the shop hand stood out--she was constantly making sure the artists had what they needed and was great with customers. Fast forward to Christmas Eve, I text her and said, "Let's go the day after Christmas. No excuses." I searched for a tattoo shop with good reviews and found Lucky Buddha Tattoo. Since it was Christmas Eve night, I couldn't get ahold of anyone (understandably), so we decided to just try our luck the next day. The shop is located off San Juan and Madison, which can be a busy area, but there's parking right out front... huge win. When we walked in, we were greeted by their apprentice, Sophia, who was incredibly sweet and welcoming. We explained what we wanted and hoped we could get it done that day. Our original idea was to place the tattoo on the palm area, but Sophia was very transparent about how ink usually doesn't hold well there. She suggested an alternative placement that still worked perfectly with our vision. After discussing the price, we decided to go for it. Luckily, she had availability right then and there. She was so patient, making every tweak and edit we asked for without hesitation or attitude Absolute gem. While she was designing, we hung out up front and got some unexpected puppy therapy! their sweet pit bull wandered over and decided my friend was her chosen human. She jumped right into her lap and chilled, which was especially adorable since my friend is normally scared of big dogs. Instant icebreaker. The entire vibe of the shop was warm, friendly, and chill. The owner even came out and chatted with us for a bit, which just added to the good energy. Once we finalized the design, Sophia got to work.
