Came here for dinner after a full day flying from the west coast. (Restaurant in hotel) Toddler got the spaghetti and meatballs, husband ordered a large portion Caesar, I ordered salmon with a small Caesar. Service was good, nothing special. Large party on patio (work thing?), sort of good for people watching. Both Caesars looked pretty rough - powdery parm on top and Caesar dressing on the side. Good amount of croutons. Toddler loved her spaghetti and large meatball, I tasted it and was sort of grossed out. My salmon was fine, the garnish was ok (something with capers), the broccolini was ok (very thick and tough stalk) and then there was this orzo. I asked my husband if he thought it tasted like ricearoni but he said it wasn't as salty. read more

I just stopped in for breakfast at Jimmy V's. I have to say this is for me, the best brunch buffet in Raleigh- OMG! Everything you want in a buffet. Then I met Chef Lou- he prepared the best made-to-omelette for me and asked if I liked grits. I thought I'd take a chance and- best grits I've EVER eaten. This guy is the truth. He said he makes them like his grandmother and he is not lying. Price was so reasonable and service from Shelly was spectacular! My new "go to" for breakfast! read more

We stopped in here for dinner and drinks before a concert. There was no wait. The server was friendly and helpful. They were out of all drafts which was a bummer, and only had three bottles left of the beer we ordered. I'm not sure what was going on with that. We ordered wings and the Forager pizza. The wings were good. They had plenty of sauce and meat, sometimes wings can be more bone than meat. The pizza was good, but I kept tasting something that I just couldn't put my finger on right away. I finally figured out it was the mushrooms. They seemed to be marinated in a strawberry balsamic. I just didn't care for that combination on this pizza. The other toppings tasted perfect together, and I especially enjoyed the caramelized onions with the other ingredients. It was just something about those mushrooms. My husband agreed and he loves mushrooms. I've never seen him take them off anything before, but he was removing them from his pizza. Overall the meal was good. read more

I'a stated in Raleigh for a number of conventions but this is my first time going to Jimmy V's. I absolutely loved the customer service and attention given to our party. Came here before a performance at Duke with a group. Service was friendly but very slow. There was a very long wait between when we ordered drinks to actually receiving our food. Also keep in mind the place was not super crowded because it was an early dinner before the show. We were a larger group at 10, but still felt like it was overly long. I got the scallops with risotto. Overall the scallops were cooked perfectly, but I think the risotto was a little under-done. Everyone thought the meal was ok, but nothing spectacular. Overall a good meal, but with so many stellar options downtown, not sure this would be my choice. read more

Great location and the staff is amazing. There was a big event in town and large parties hit the restaurant every night we were there. Everyone was incredible. Zack behind the bar rocked in seeing regulars were taken care of and crowds got drinks. Anna was killing it on the floor and despite having a huge section took great care of our parties. Keith on the wood fired oven makes great pizzas and wings. Also super friendly to everyone who stopped by. A good concept and menu get you so far. I went specifically because they had calamari on the menu. When I sat down to order I said "I don't need a menu. I came to try your calamari." She said, "No calamari for at least another week." Strike one. So I ordered a BBQ pizza and a Long Island Tea and said, "please don't let them make it weak." It came weak anyway. There should have been enough alcohol in one to give you a buzz. I made a comment to the waitress about it being disappointing, she said, "I'll make sure they get it right on the next one." She was nice enough, but gave me more platitudes. I was really surprised by this place. Went there for breakfast three days in a row because the buffet was really good & quick to eat. Chef Lou made an amazing omelette! This restaurant and bar is located off the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel where I have been staying for the past couple of days. This evening I had a late dinner here and I had an interesting and unique experience. i initially approached the hostess desk to examine the offerings on the menu. I read of a smoked chicken ravioli dish that interested me however I asked the hostess if I could have the dish prepared with marinara sauce instead of the cream sauce as it was described on their menu. The hostess went back to the kitchen to ask. Shortly afterwards the head chief came back out to the hostess desk and he took the time to talk me out of changing the dish. Fortunately when I sat down to order my meal I actually listened to him. This smoked chicken ravioli with cream sauce had small chunks of bacon in the sauce as well as chunks of corn. They left some red pepper out of the sauce at my request but i was still blown away by the flavor of the dish. I also had the french fires as an appetizer and they were a very thin cut french fry that was very tasty. Since I knew I would be working late into the evening, I asked if they could make me some sort of meatball sandwich with the meatballs from their spaghetti dinner. The manager of the restaurant was gracious enough have the kitchen make the meatball sandwich they have on their lunch menu but do not offer during their dinner service. Later in the evening I ate this sandwich and it too was quite tasty with the meatballs having a bit of spicy flavor to them. The only drawback to this experience was the size of the bill I received at the end. I only had water to drink with my meal but the french fries, the ravioli and the meatball sandwich with tax had the total food bill at over $40 for one person. I have eaten breakfast here for the past two mornings at their breakfast buffet. The selections available at this buffet are average breakfast items of scrambled eggs, sausage links, bacon, yogurt, grits and etc. There are also items that can be made to order but i have not tried those items yet. The service in the morning from the wait staff is average at best. There is only one waitress on duty that I have seen the past two mornings so she might have trouble covering demands of the morning patrons. All together these dining and culinary experiences have me recommending this restaurant to other yelp readers. read more

A group of 7 of us came here on 10/17/18 for dinner. The restaurant was more than 1/2 empty. We didn't have reservations so the hostess turned us away. As we were leaving, the manager appeared and quickly seated us at a table in the front near the bar. Apparently, there wasn't a waitress assigned to our area so the bartender waited on us. She was polite but repeatedly told us how busy she was and it made us feel like we were imposing. The ravioli was cold and they never served us a bread basket.. when they finally did bring the bread, there wasn't enough for the whole table! read more

I would love to give this place a good review...the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious too. However, our service was horrendous. We weren't checked on once during our meal, my boyfriend's tea was empty when the food was dropped off and he didn't get a refill for 35 minutes. It was too late. Our server completely disappeared and we sat finished with our meal for 10 minutes. He was sat a new table next to ours, and greeted them and dropped off drinks without even checking on us! We finally went to the host stand to pay, where the host apologized and processed our payment. Our server then went behind the host stand, looked at us, smiled and DIDNT SAY A THING! We are both service industry people, and he would have gotten a good tip for even mediocre service, but instead received nothing for his obvious inability to consider service recovery. read more

We went to Jimmy V's before a symphony performance, as it is a few blocks and an easy walk away. I had the vegan gnocchi with corn and tomatoes, which was just right in every way - flavoring, serving size, presentation. I also had a piece of the pizza ordered by a dining companion, and it was very good as well. The service was fine but the server was pretty busy with other tables. The only negative of this place was the noise level, due to all the hard surfaces like brick and glass. read more

I was surprised to see the concierge struggling at cooking omlets as he just finished cleaning tables and wiped his face and nose with his bare hand. Some of the food in the buffet was cold; eggs and oatmeal. The convenience of being in the hotel is not worth the average service and food. If you just want to have a drink and chat then this place is more suited to that. Be aware of higher prices on drinks. Needs work on cleanliness and food safety processes. Giving it two stars. One star for each time I tried it. I was in town for work, I had lunch on Sunday and dinner on Monday. Both times, the service was slow and orders were incorrect. The dinner was with 12 people, and there were multiple issue. The pizza was cold, ravioli was cold, drinks took 30 minutes a piece and the restaurant wasn't even full. Half the meals came out 30 minutes after the first round of meals. We were done eating before others even started. read more

Terrible service from when we arrived to when we left. Hostess was rude. Waited for almost an hour to be seated even though open tables could be seen all over. When asking the hostess after waiting almost an hour when we would be seated, she told us that the kitchen was backed up and they would be unable to seat us at all. Asked for the manager, who then greeted us with a "What's up". Once we were finally seated (in a near empty restaurant) we placed a drink order and they even managed to mess that up.
