Be thoughtful about when you visit. I had the day off and got a beer around 3:00pm on a Tuesday. From across the entire bar I spent the time listening to people complaining about Cesar Chavez, diversity, and how hard it is to be white. If you don't want to hear it bring headphones or wait until there is a staff member around that will stop the bigots from taking over the bar. I won't be back. read more

Very clean, lighting is great and they have 14 TV's that always have a great variety of sporting events on. The important games are always on. Bartenders are super friendly and do a great job. Video poker area is better than other bars around I had never heard of/noticed this place until stopping in with a friend and we just keep coming back! Perfect place to watch a game or chill. I had a pretty decent time at Jimmys. They have several beers on tap and a full bar and menu. Maybe it was also the beer talking but my Philly Cheesesteak was really tasty. Perfectly chopped meat...onions and peppers grilled nicely....and of course some slathered american cheese. You can tell it's certainly a neighborhood place. Lots of locals. I like the fact that they have an upstairs area and plenty of TVs for watching sports. Nothing out of the ordinary and nothing specifically that stands out about this place other than I think they have better bar food than most. The staff is fairly quick. Atmosphere is laid back. Casual, Sportsy, friendly bar. It's like your friends living room, except the booze and food aren't free. Ha. Very comfy. It might be my pick for 'where to watch football this year'. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Plenty of beautiful, crisp TVs to watch. For what I expect and want from a sports bar in Multnomah - this is perfect. Low key. I live down the street from Jimmy's and walk by several nights a week but I've only been inside twice and now I have a good reason not to return. Both times I've been, the bartender didn't know a drink order (first vodka Collins and then something literally straight from their specials menu) and the bartender seemed kind of mad/annoyed when I ordered the special on a pretty slow Saturday night. He also seemed mad that we ordered food even though he told us he could make fried items. Just not a good experience and now I'm not surprised that I hardly see anyone in there when I walk by. read more

Welcome to Jimmy's, where we serves our so so bar food and drinks with the scent of urinal cakes. Yes, during our visit, the scent of the night at Jimmy's is like the scent of boys' restrooms. The beer and drinks were fine. The food is ok, if you stick to the usual bar food grubs which is burger, fries, and all greasy goodness. However, please do not try their Happy Hour Hummus Plate. Apparently, since it's the happy hour size, they changed the Hummus plate to just chips and hummus. The Hummus didn't have any flavor at all. Not even salt. It's just pure puree beans. I think they just don't want you to have a heart attack from a hummus plate, so they make it as flavorless, as tasteless, as possible. I can only give two stars because my burger was pretty decent. The third strike of this place was the music selection. The first half of our visit, we ended up listening to Slayer and heavy metal songs. I don't know that this is a heavy metal bar. They should change their name from Jimmy's to Slayer's Watering Hole. read more

Note - only reviewing this as a packer fan and someone who comes here to watch football. This is the place to watch the Green Bay Packers. I've been to Corbett's (not for a game so maybe i would like it), but it's not a bar, it's a restaurant. I'm a WI native and Jimmy's reminds me of home. Greasy food. Cheap beers. They even serve a cheap breakfast! Last week I had a egg and cheese biscuit w/ tots (bacon on side - i gave it away) for $5. Damn. That's cheap. I'm not saying it's gourmet, I'm saying cheap. It also goes real well with a bloody mary and a beer chaser. Plus they have all the other football games on too. Everyone is real nice. The employees are funny and I even saw a Minnesota fan get a glass of foam (instead of beer) from a bartender as a joke. This is where all the cool Packers fans hang. Cat is outta the bag now. Monday night they have a free spaghetti dinner during football. Too bad it is meaty. Best place to watch football on Sunday AM. read more

Bias Note: keep in mind that this local watering hole was my neighborhood bar for well over two years, and it's basically my version of Cheers. However, I haven't visited much since I moved out of the neighborhood, and I think the bartenders and regulars have turned over, so things may be a bit different. The Good: Excellent beer selection for a bar in outer SW Portland. Usually have at least 20+ on tap. Bartenders are quick to serve you, remember you and your drink after two visits, and quick to evict assholes and obnixious drunks. Karaoke on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Poker night on Tuesday. Lots of holiday theme parties with games, costumes and prizes. Very friendly regulars and patrons who love to share a beer and juicy neighborhood gossip. Greasy bar food. The Bad: Greasy bar food. Only one pool table. No outdoor seating. Only one dedicated women's restroom. The Ugly: Me stumbling home at 2 a.m. on way too many evenings! read more

Solid neighborhood sportsbar/tavern in Multnomah Village. Nothing too out of the ordinary here...it's a great place to grab a drink and some quality guilty pleasure bar food. One that stands out during my many trips to Jimmy's is the speed, friendliness, and overall quality of the bartenders/servers. No apathy, surliness, or lethargic coolness...they work hard to make sure you get what you want as fast as possible. The place already got pretty packed for NFL Sundays, but should be an even better place to catch a game with their new projector and huge projection screen on the wall. read more

I consider Jimmy's to be my 'home bar'... meaning that I'm a regular there and a lot of my friends are too so it's my go-to place for an after work drink or to watch football on Sundays. All the bartenders are great and the bar manager, Shannon, has done a great job with the daily specials. Most of them are made from scratch and it shows. Starting this season, they are showing all college and NFL games - making it a great place to be on both Saturday and Sunday. Admittedly, this is more of a regulars place. Today (on a Saturday, at lunch, 2 people playing keno in the entire bar), a bartender served me without asking for an ID, then a friend who's older than me, clearly over 21 and showing no intention of drinking - just lunch - tried to join me, but didn't have her ID on her, and the bartender threw her out. So keep in mind that the staff is inconsistent and rude. read more

Respectable beer selection. One giant screen for the main event and six or seven undersized tv's for everything else. Audio can be hard to hear with echo and other noise. Food is average. A neighborhood drunk or two are typical. Service is great. Jimmy! Get rid of the lights above the bar counter - they block the big screen when sitting at the bar. read more

Jimmy's is not just a local bar.... Jimmy's has great specials every week. It's EASY to make new friends. They will always remember your name. The owner will personally take time to talk to you and thank you for coming in. This is my favorite bar by far. It doesn't need cheap gimmicks to be a great. If you are a fan of a REAL BAR. Jimmy's is absolutely the place to try out! Multnomah Village is a small town in a big city. So do not come in expecting the flash of the bars downtown. I went here to enjoy some wings and beers, and I have to say I greatly enjoyed it, and the staff were very friendly. The clientele, however, did not make me feel comfortable. When we were eating a protest for black lives marched by, they were all peaceful and chanting with no property destruction - not at all the black clad rioters we usually see on the media. They stopped outside Jimmy's for a moment of silence and a bearded man in a meow mix shirt stepped outside to heckle them and "whoop" during their moment of scilence. I found it highly disrespectful, even if you don't agree with them, to heckle a moment of silence for lives lost. Went in last week to have a beer , burger and catch last half of a football game. I like laid back places in most cases, but the service was so bad I have to comment. The place was not packed with people. The brunette server was of no use whatsoever, I had a 15 min. wait to order food. She kept going outside and in my opinion might as well have clocked out. How bad was the service? The brunette waitress apologized to me THREE TIMES for "forgetting about" me and for "getting distracted visiting with my friends". If it weren't for my watching the game I would have left. I had to go the bartender to pay, as waitress was outside smoking (again). Good beer selection and for the price the burger was pretty good and got a heap of very hot tater tots. But, I did not feel welcome or part of the staffs' clique. Maybe I will see them on "Bar Rescue" some day, but I will not be back with so many sports bar options out there. read more

This place is a joke and most that live in the village know it. Went several times to make an honest appraisal. 1st time the bartender was fighting with her boyfriend who was outside punching the glass window. Was there for half an hour and was never served. Second time ordered a burger which they claim to be famous for. Famous my ass. The burger tasted like it had been heated up from 3 days ago and to make things worse the person that brought the food to had open lesions all over her arms. If they offered minus stars this place would be like -5. This place sucks do not go there!!! read more

A friend and I headed over to check out Jimmy's a little while back, given that I lived not far away and had driven past it so many times without stopping by. We were glad we did: the bartender was friendly, the place had a kind of old-school, unpretentious and worn-around-the-edges neighborhood feel, and the food was actually decent (not gourmet, but certainly a step up from what you often get at a local watering hole). Sports were on hand on the TVs, but we didn't feel like we "had" to watch the game or risk looking stupid. Using a Yelp coupon, we were in and out of there with two beers and two sandwiches/burgers for about half the price of more "hip" places. Just keep in mind that this is old-school, in a friendly way, and not a Portland Monthly all-the-rage sports bar kind of place...which is a nice thing to know can still survive in this town to help keep it real. read more

This is your average bar...I can't speak for the "grill" aspect because I did not order food here but I'm sure it's good. Bartenders are friendly, there is ample seating downstairs along with a pool table and some video poker. Upstairs is a little loft with clean bathrooms and a shuffleboard. The shuffleboard isn't the greatest but will do if you have the itch. Good little place to get your drink on. read more
