After hearing so many good things from mutual friends in the area, I was so excited to treat myself while I was in town. My initial visit was fine; friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. I went in for a pedicure and gel manicure. The gels looked great initially, but the pedicure was incredibly lackluster. I may as well have painted them myself, not to mention that the nail tech up and left after my manicure finished without checking to make sure my toes had dried. I waited a while thinking that maybe she was getting the next client prepped and would come back and check in a few minutes. Nope. Well, okay then. I got up to leave and awkwardly checked my toes, hoping that they were dried through. A little frustrating, but not the end of the world by any means. But wait, there's more. Three days later, two of my gels peeled off. Are you fucking kidding me? Upon closer inspection, the free edges aren't capped. So, there's that. Wow, I am so impressed with the level of care and sanitation control in the nail shop! Jimmy has literally mastered the art of going beyond basic standard of Covid-19 compliance's one his shop, while maintaining his usual high level of exceptional quality care during manicures and pedicures. His staff even received certificates of sanitation training prior to reopening up to the public. This is the most impressed I've been of any establishment in Bellingham regarding safety and precautions. The safe is so friendly and happily ready to serve. I will say the salon was cleaner than the average nail salon. I don't want fruit, I don't want a drink, I want a GOOD manicure and pedicure, neither of which did I get. When getting a spa pedicure I would expect it to take longer than 30 minutes and it should feel good! This pedi was rushed and just not a pleasant experience, little to no leg,foot massage. The real frustration was the gel manicure. I was leaving on vacation, wanted nice nails for my time away. Sadly 4days later my gel manicure was peeling up on 6 of ten nails. Not a quality mani!! I had to have them redone while on vacation. I gave them the opportunity to make it right, messaged them through their Facebook page, and also through their web site...no response. Seems to me when you spend $90 for a pedi and gel mani you should get a quality product. I would not recommend this nail salon. In my experience, they do not do quality work. read more

It was the most incredible experience I had!!! My wife got a massage after her manicure. I was treated as a king with a small massage on my feet, fruit to eat and soft drinks. Very nice nail salon! They offer you a plate of fruit with your service and serve wine/beer/champagne! That's a first for me! I went in wanting a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Sat in the chair for a pedi and waited for them to start to take off my old gel manicure but they didn't. I choose to only have a pedicure since I didn't want to go sit at a table for another hour for the gel manicure. It would be helpful for them to paint fake nails with the nail polish colors they offer. One for regular and one for gels. You have to dig through a box and look at each bottle to determine what color it is and some of them you have to open the bottle. Not convenient at all! read more

I asked for 'no paint' on the pedicure so it was easy to see they hadn't removed all the previous color. I asked them to remove it after they had finished which they did but still color remained in the cuticle. I have had great experiences here. It's clean, professional, and everyone is always courteous. But the one time it was bad, it was really bad. My sister and I booked an appointment a week ahead of time for afternoon before her wedding for manicures and pedicures. A gift certificate had been given to her at one of her showers. We came in and waited for over 30 minutes, finally were seated in two chairs, and left for another 15 minutes until our pedicurists got started. We'd been there for over an hour by the time they finished painting our nails, rushed us out of the chairs to go dry our toes in the corner, and left us sitting again, seemingly indefinitely. We were just talking about how we probably need to skip the manicures in order to get to the rehearsal dinner on time, when Jimmy came over to explain that manicures would be another 20 minute-wait because another girl came in for a manicure, and they were putting her ahead of us because she was getting married tomorrow. He walked off before we could explain that we were a wedding party, too! As we were leaving, he brusquely charged us full price for our rushed pedicures. With no other options, I did her manicure for the next day, for all her wedding photos with her ring and everything. Very frustrating experience. Airy, soft touch luxury and emphasis on organic/less toxic products will make anyone looking for the upscale, quality experience very pleased. My first pedicure, I was given a complimentary extra long foot massage. Incredibly sweet and meticulous nail techs here. A great touch. Only ladies who can massage my feet without me totally laughing like a maniac. I recommend calling, but often can walk right on in, especially during weekdays. Complimentary fruit and sparkling water is also very nice. My pedicure water wasn't quite as warm as I'd like- my fault-should've said something. But not a big deal at all. Only reason they don't get 5* is due to the way you select your gel polish (A tiny dot on top of the gel bottle? How am I supposed to guess what it will look like on a nail?) and the cost ($20 upgrade just to add gel to a full service $55+ pedicure?). Other than that, truly, Jimmy's is a highly professional, beautifully appointed, chic salon for your nails. And their nail shaping- again I harp- is the best in Bellingham. Wow! So impressed by this place. It is more money then I'm used to spending, but ended up being worth it. I waited to post a review until my nails chipped. Usually, this happens the day after I get a manicure. It just now happened EIGHT DAYS LATER! they use chemical free products (i think? Or organic... Something like that) so maybe it was the product they used that made it last so long. But I was not dainty with it, so i'm impressed. Apart from lasting four times as long as my other manicures ever have, the experience there was also wonderful. They brought me a little fruit plate and a glass of water, they had a full kitchen next door if you wanted something to eat or drink during your services, she gave me a SHOULDER MASSAGE while my nails dried and then a hand massage to finish it all out. Truly a pampering eexperience. Like I said, it costs almost twice what the places I usually go to charge, but considering the experience I had while there and the endurance of my manicure, I'd say it's worth it. read more

I walked in and they were obviously busy with a group of women and asked if I could come back in 20 mins which was fine with me. I had the spa manicure with French tips and my nails look amazing! Best pedicure I've ever had! Really felt relaxed and comfortable as soon as I came in.

I should have painted my toe nails myself, i would have done a better job. I do not know if this is standard for their pedicures but my nails were not filed properly at the tops. Uneven. After i left and i looked closer my nails were not painted completely and again...uneven. I'm thinking of wiping it off and doing it myslef. I used a coupon so i have a feeling that people who pay less are not treated as well as the full paying customers which is WRONG. My advice to JKimmy's: Do not put a deal out if you plan on treating the customer poorly and giving them a half done job! I'm very disappointed and i will not go back. I should get a refund. If they offer to fix it i can only imagine the dirty looks i would get from the staff who constantly speaks in another language which most cannot understand and talk about their tips in front of customers to pressure them into giving more. Yes this happened today. I'm sure the ones who gave the 5 star ratings were those who paid full price and have money to burn. So sad. Jimmy's does a GREAT manicure. The ladies are thorough and neat. You're plied with fruit and beverages while you wait. They rub your back and shoulders and arms while they're at it. Absolutely no complaints about the product. They're also really great about taking me last minute. I'm one of those annoying clients who has no schedule, just a free hour here and there and they have NEVER turned me away, no matter how busy. The thing is I kind of wish they'd turn me away sometimes. I know, as a walkin, I take the risk that no one can see me. And I'd far rather be told to come back another time than have a rushed mani by a lady who is all professionalism, all welcoming, but clearly doesn't have time for my bitten off nails and abused cuticles right now. Despite the menu and sandwich board outside, both of which offer an array of personal care services, I do NOT recommend going here for anything but nails. I made an actual appointment for some waxing, so there was time to prepare, and it was not good. The waxing room is an afterthought room, filled with crates of fizzy water and odd pieces of equipment, which should have been my second clue. My first being, of course, don't get waxed at a nail salon. The lady had no idea what she was doing, and failed to remove huge patches of hair, including just about everything you'd expect to be removed in the course of a Brazilian. It was clearly a training issue, so I didn't take it out on her. But I didn't appreciate being told at the end that it was my fault, because I need to wait 2 months in between waxing for best results. Horseshit. I've been doing my own waxing for two decades. Sometimes when I'm short of time I think it's nice to go somewhere and have someone do it for me. Get all the spots it's hard for me to get. My hair was perfectly timed for yanking. I just wish they'd left me alone with the wax pot. I paid too much, waaaay too much, and left. But it's been rankling ever since. Why offer services you cannot provide? Why take me on for a manicure when you don't have time to give me your full attention? Jimmys, if you told me no more often you'd still have me as a client. As it is, I'll think fondly of your back rubs and fruit, but move on to a salon where I am more than a wallet. read more

I love that everything is natural so I don't have to worry about chemicals. Very underwhelmed by my pedicure on my first experience here. I read online reviews & it sounded great; I made an appointment and arrived to a very busy, hectic shop. I think it was Jimmy who was overseeing things, & when I told him I had an appointment he waved me to the waiting area where several people were sitting. So I found the kind of polishes I wanted, selected the color and had a seat. I didn't wait long before the chairs emptied & I was helped into a chair. I was offered water & a fruit plate, a very nice gesture. Then a woman came & sat down, & without a word or a glance in my direction, or a smile, began instructing me by waving with her hand, tapping on my feet & pointing. Apparently she didn't speak English, but I'm not sure as she never acknowledged my greeting in any way. She carried on conversations with the employees around her in a language I did not recognize; she never looked at me. The paint job was fine, but as far as an actual pedicure, it was meh. She barely touched calluses with the file & spent minimal time with cuticles. She spent a lot of time "massaging" my calves, but very poorly done. I'd rather not be offered a fruit plate; I'd rather not have my calves rubbed. A real massage would have been lovely, and some effort at communication & social skills would have been appreciated. Part of that relates to the quality of service. The salon is well-appointed with comfy chairs. They bring you fresh fruit to nibble and a beverage (I got sparkling water, others were drinking beer or wine). Let's be honest, getting a mani/pedi is a indulgence, and it should feel luxurious. They only apply one coat of polish so it's already chipping 2 hrs later. My nails are uneven and they didn't do much to my callouses.
