I originally liked this place, I've taken my car there twice for repairs and even recommended it to another. However the last time I had a repair there they lost my wheel lock, when I called back there Pete said they never used it because the repairs didn't require taking my tires off. He was really unhelpful and just seemed like he didn't care. He said he would ask the mechanic in the shop if they remembering seeing it and he would call me back, surprise, surprise, I never got a call back. Seems they only care about you when you're their current customer, once you pay them, it's like you don't even matter. Thanks to Pete, Jim's autobody lost a customer. I have used Jim's California Auto Body on two occasions and picked them because they're "Premier" rated by my insurance company. After using them, I understood why! I was extremely pleased by the quality of their work, the helpfulness of their staff and their level of professionalism. Highly recommended! Stopped by late last week after discovering a side/rear panel had mysteriously separated to see if Jim's could help. I'm new to the area and had no idea what body shop to go to, but between the Yelp reviews and Jim's being a couple of miles from my office, it was a no-brainer. Robert took a look and said if I came by early this week, they could take care of it in about a half hour. Not only did they fix it (replaced some screws/brackets etc.), but the service was on the house! What place gives you 30 minutes of their tech's time, labor and parts, free of charge, these days? I guess Jim's Auto Body does :) The waiting area was clean and comfortable as well. I have cast my vote for Jim's Auto Body. This is a company that can fix your car for a reasonable price. Had a driver scrap the left rear of my car. After communication with the insurance companies, I contacted Jim's Auto Body and the next day, I stopped by the shop and got a estimate. Painless, quick and friendly from the time I entered the front door. Perry Meyer was on top of my claim from the beginning. Perry was very informative about what needed to be done and how much time it would take. We even discussed price and it sounded so reasonable. There was no pressure about anything. I am happy that the end result was a vehicle that was show room perfect in repair. Despite what others have said, I had a great experience with Jim's Auto Body. My car was hit while parked and I had some deep scratches, but no dents. I arrived at Jim's on Wednesday (9/21/16). I'll agree the receptionist was a little cold, but I brushed it off. Tom was great, very friendly and helpful. He checked in my car and told me it would be done by Thursday (9/22/16). He called me on Thursday around 3:30pm telling me my car was ready. I picked it up today (9/23/16) and my car looks like no one ever touched it. I would definitely recommend Jim's. read more

I had got some dents fixed on my 2013 Avalon, they had taken two driver side doors off to fix the dents. Once my car was finished being fixed the wiring for the radio system and locking system was not working. Sometimes when I step out of the car and press the lock button while the car is on, when I had came back to the car it was on and I had the keys in my hand then I couldn't open any door while I had the keys in my hands. I had to manually take the key out of the smart key and open the locked driver side door. I had brought it back to the shop where they had messed up the wiring all they did was a checkup on the wires for the car doors but that didn't change anything. They also didn't even look at the car lock system which I asked them to look at it as well. Cars 2010 and up have smart keys which means if you have left your keys in the car accidentally your car wouldn't lock. But since something is wrong with my car my car would lock even if the keys are still inside the car, which never happened before. read more

Let's start from the beginning! Someone hit and ran on my car in front of my house. I went thru my insurance to get the repairs done. They sent it to these guys. When I got my car back I wasn't able to do a full 360 on it to make sure everything was as it was before it got hit because it was raining really bad and I didn't want to get soaked. The next day when it cleared up noticed a dent about the size of a baseball that was still there. I contacted my insurance and let them know and they put me in touch Kurt. I took my car in and they stood by their repairs and said they will fix it. I highly recommend these guys. They are easy to deal with and will stand by their repairs. Repeat customer. They took care of an insurance related claim in 2012 and the service was great then. Quality work and price was as expected. Friendly folks and professional shop. Based on prior experience, I went in this week to get an opinion and estimate on two problems on the Ford. Both wear n tear so neither would be covered by insurance. Minimal wait for Pete to check everything over and provide an estimate. His recommendation was the work may not be worth the cost at this time as the problem was minor. He provided a printout of what the part schematic and how it fits into the door assembly. If I decide to get the work done, I have good paper work describing the price. Really great customer service!! I dropped off my car after I rear ended someone in my 3 week old car and my insurance company recommended Jim's. The front of my car looked pretty bad (to me) but they fixed it in one day and it looks like a new car again. Tom was really great about checking in and letting me know the progress. I went here because my insurance company said they'd do the estimate, and the repair. They had 4+ stars, so I felt confident. Unfortunately, the experience was not great for me. i called them initially and they said I could drop off my car, and they'd evaluate and repair it. They'd even give me a ride home. A couple of weeks later, when I called to confirm, that offer seem to go out the window. They'd do the eval, but not the repair, so I'd have to come back yet again. Yuck! So I arranged to meet Tom before 4 pm. They close at 5 pm, so I felt confident that I'd make it. Long story short, the traffic was horrific on the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend, and I got there about 5 mins after 4 pm. Tom was behind a desk, and shouted out at me that he couldn't see me because I was late. The usual, "I'm sorry but....". I shouldn't have been late, but it was only 5 mins, and they close at 5 pm - I got there at 4:05 pm. It took an hour in bad traffic to get there. But I won't be going back. On a positive note, I would say the ladies at the front desk were very helpful. read more

I went in for an estimate and was asked to sit down for approx 10-15 minutes even-though I was the only customer there. Then, I noticed a man standing to my side and he appeared upset. He didn't say anything to me other than "is your car outside?" After he examined the truck, he said he would call me with an estimate. I had to ask him for his name, Mr Padilla. When I tried to drop off car for repair, Mr Padilla told me that I couldn't and he wasn't able to give me a satisfactory answer. I told him it was convenient for me (the customer) as I was leaving work and it was the only time I had available. After I questioned him, he thought better of it and said ok. Even though the work done appears ok, it' i overshadow by Mr. Padilla's unprofessional behavior and lack of customer service. read more

Since the beginning of this year I have had the misfortune to have been hit twice by people who left the scene, leaving me with the need to get repairs done to my car, and to pay two $500 deductibles. In each instance I took my car to Jim's Auto Body in Walnut Creek. I met my estimator Pete Eby the first time I went in and he made what was otherwise a very painful process for me - the time, the need to rent a car, etc., etc. - a very easy and painless process. Pete ordered the parts, let me know when they had arrived, told me how long he would need my car, and had it ready for me exactly when he said it would be done. The work was done perfectly, and my beautiful low mileage car of over 10 years looked practically new. Pete and his group also drove me to the Hertz office to get my rental car, and the second time let me leave the rental car with them and arranged for Hertz to come pick it up. As if all of that was not enough, when I picked my car up recently after the second set of repairs from my second hit and run experience, Pete had my car sparkling and looking brand new. Pete also helped me arrange for some long needed work for my car to get done while at Jim's, for which I could never find the time, to get some dings in my door fixed by a dent pro service and a glass repair I needed to get done to my windshield. I'm in a service business, and I really appreciate great service. Pete and his team absolutely delivered the best service I have ever experienced when dealing with the need for body work after an accident. I have used some of the other local shops in the past, but no one ever came close to the level of service I received at Jim's. I would absolutely use them again, and can't begin to recommend them enough! read more

A negative rating would be more appropriate. Took several weeks and three return trips to have my car repaired. Had to involve our insurance company who categorically told them that their work was not up to standard. Failed to perform wheel alignment and called to let me know after having the car for two weeks and on top of it broke the springs on the hood. Worst customer service. The only reason why I am giving this a 2 star and not a 1 star is because the work itself looks great.... but they still haven't finished the job with the wheel alignment that was supposed to be done as well. Long story made shorter but still super long- Don't use unless Jim's unless it is a direct repair for your insurance. Actually, don't use Jim's unless you are paying privately. I was referred to Jim's by someone for my repairs and although I was told by Jim's "we work with Liberty Mutual all the time!" they neglected to say they don't have a contract with them. Perry, who was working with my vehicle, told me there would be no issues having the work done. I got an estimate, gave them my claim # and made an appointment for 11 days later. I asked Jim's to follow up with insurance. I also called the insurance company (Liberty Mutual) and asked them to follow up with Jims. NEITHER party followed up with each other, even though I called Jim's the Friday before my car was supposed to go in, leaving a message verifying they had received the first check and that there would be no issues. No call back. I stupidly assumed they were actually on top of it. Monday morning rolls around and as I am driving my car to the shop I get a call from Jim's that they haven't received a check. Why they didn't return my call from Friday on Saturday, when they were open, OR why they didn't follow up with Liberty Mutual the week before when no check had arrived??? We got it worked out and before I left my car there I asked the receptionist, who had talked to insurance on the phone, "So we're all good? There are no issues for when I pick up the car on Friday? I need it by Friday because I'm going on vacation." I was told it was all worked out. Friday rolls around and I get a call in the late pm before I'm about the pick up the car that "We never got the correct check so we aren't giving you your car back" even though the work was done. I was furious. I came to find that Jim's made NO contact with the insurance company before that Friday when my car was supposed to be picked up. NO CONTACT AT ALL. They never sent Liberty Mutual an estimate. No pictures. Nothing. And then they wondered why they didn't get correct payment. As Liberty Mutual said "How can we send a correct check if they don't contact us with their estimate? And how can they call us on a Friday pm and expect us to turn around a check in an hour?" Jim's held my car through Monday pm of the next week (and I was leaving for out of state early the next morning and didn't know until an hour and a half before they closed if I would get my car back before I left town for a week). It was sick how Jim's put me in the middle of the insurance job. They wanted me to play middle man between them and the insurance co. (can I mention to all you mamas out there that I also had two littles I was trying to take care of during all of this as well?!) and they were incredibly unprofessional. They were penalizing me and refusing to give me my car back because of their mistake and lack of communication with the insurance co. When I finally got my car back the night before our trip and trying to pack for my family I noticed they never even did the wheel alignment which was supposed to happen. So from Hawaii I had to contact Perry again and he said he would deal with getting it approved when I returned from my trip. I asked him to start the process with insurance now while I was gone so that it would be ready upon my return. That conversation was THREE WEEKS AGO and still no word from Jim's. PS- Jim's never apologized for the HUGE inconvenience of holding my car ransom. MORAL OF THE STORY: Don't use Jim's unless you have the $$ to pay privately and if you don't care at all about customer service. read more

Kind of late on my comment but been meaning to post. I had come to Jim's for my front bumper after rear-ending someone last month. Perry the estimator really worked with my work schedule (I start before they open and get off after closing). Told me just to drop it off and leave the keys in the night drop. Next day I received the call that they had moved it in and was contacting my insurance about the repairs. He told me it would be about a week or so. He was very thorough on the process letting me know when the parts were in, then when it was done and ready to be washed and released the next day. Bumper looks great! I love that they recharged my A/C too. It has been amazing in this heat. Hopefully I won't Have to, but if I need body repair work again, Jim's will be the place. read more

Insurance company recommended this paint shop. Just wanted inspection and to be given estimated time for work needed. When I arrived, the salesman was on a business call which took almost 10 min. Then he accepted another call, which from the conversation taking place, was from a family member. After he finished his call with her, he did not acknowledge us and when his secretary brought it to his attention that he had a customer waiting, he responded by saying he needed to finish some paperwork. If his "paperwork" was a priority, he should have shortened his personal conversation. I chose not to wait and will ask insurance company to find a different body shop. I had other choices from my insurance company but I chose Jim's because I had been there before and had a great experience. This time, I brought in my daughter's car which had been rear-ended. I can not have asked for a better experience. My estimator (Pete Eby) was friendly, courteous and efficient. My insurance information was at the office's fingertips. Pete told me that he would keep me posted throughout the repairs, and called me twice in three days to update me. My pick-up was a day earlier than expected, in spite of the fact that parts had to be ordered. I was very very happy with the results. The car looked beautiful and had been washed. Pete reviewed all the repair work with me, and even helped me transfer my groceries from my rental car! As with the drop-off, the pick up took less than10 minutes.
