Not long ago, my wife who is disabled with a prosthetic leg, frantically pulled in to their business with a tire going down. According to her account, these guys were busy that day. Per usual. And yet, despite all their service bays being used, and a full parking lot at the time, these guys made time for her. She was go thankful, greatful, and relieved. Stay away from this place. We paid $600 for a new set of MasterCraft tires. I inquired since I'd…read morenever heard of the brand. But they assured me, "We put these on every car on the mountain and no one has ever complained. They're made by Cooper." So, in an effort to keep business on the mountain, we got the tires. So imagine my surprise when only 6 months and 8,000 miles later, all four were totally and completely bald. They looked like Nascar racing slicks! When I called the owner, he said they don't warranty their tires but I could take the tires off of my car, myself, and drive down to his distributor in San Bernardino and see if they would give me any sort of a pro-rated credit. I couldn't believe that the onus was completely on me, the customer, to follow up with Tony's wholesale distributor! So much for keeping my business on the hill. I ended up going to Costco to replace the tires. They fully warranty the tires. I was able to get Goodyear tires for less than I had paid for MasterCrafts at Tony's. Don't give this guy your business. He also owns Action Auto in Running Springs. Earlier that same day, I had picked up my car from a tow yard and I had to pay a ridiculous amount of money just to get it out, which added even more anxiety--especially since my car has been dealing with several ongoing issues and I was worried it might not pass smog. Even though they were very busy, the gentleman who helped me took the time to truly listen to my concerns instead of rushing me through. He was patient, kind, and reassuring. He even took a picture of the list of issues I shared with him and told me he would call me, which meant a lot and showed genuine care. I never felt pressured or upsold--just respected and heard. As a woman who only knows the basics when it comes to car issues, it is truly a breath of fresh air to encounter mechanics who aren't just trying to drain you of money, but who actually want to help and be honest. I genuinely believe God led me to this shop that day. I had prayed and asked Him to help me find a place with people who would be fair, honest, and not overcharge me--and Sal & Son's was exactly that answer.
