There are two locations . Although I live closer to the Sheridan Blvd location, the shop on 88th is the best. If you haven't tried the burgers and your into an old fashioned greasy sloppy burger this might be the place for you. The 6" burger doesn't sound big and the patty is actually smaller than the bun until they smash it thin on the grill but a single usually does me just fine. If I'm feeling like I need less carbs I might do the double meat small or if I'm in urgent need some extra cow I might do the double large. Fries are good, not great (not fresh cut ala In N Out) and the rings are likewise. Shakes and Malts are done right (nice and thick). These are greasy spoon (love 'em) diner style burgers which are different than Fuddrucker's and more akin to Gunther Toody's (thinner and tastier I think than GT's and no quasi 50's chicks floor show. Here it's take a number (save your receipt) and wait to be called). Hot Rod pics are on the walls and they have car shows in the summer so you can imagine the decor (booths and chrome). I remember the first time I went to this location about 10 years ago, the place smelled amazing and the burgers were so good. When I walked into this place with my family last week, it looked like we walked into a dump. It smelled not at all like yummy burgers...but something putrid was in the air. I ordered the 6inch burger with fries....when we went to get the order...it was like they were hoarding napkins....you had to ask even for your first napkin! The burger was all bun...I'm not sure there was real meat in there. There was a six inch burger, but it was so flat and thin it was breaking apart. It didn't even taste like a burger. The fries were okay, but you really can't mess up fries. The rest of the family felt the same. My daughter and husband had green chile cheese fries, and they said it was okay...not great. Great burgers and onion rings, but I don't think I'll be back. The place was 3/4 full, but any available table was not cleaned off. Usually, this is not a problem for me. I would just grab some napkins and wet them and wipe off the table. Not possible here because getting napkins was a production. No napkins dispensers anywhere, so one has to find an available employee and try to get them to give you more than a couple of napkins. Inside was a bit too cool for me, so between the dirty tables and being cold, we decided to eat outside. A bit windy and everything had to be weighted down so it wouldn't blow away. Want a meal that is its own left over? This is the place, its classic hamburger though I first visited the original now gone on south Federal at Elsworth in a converted old style mc. These 2 have stood test of time and definately offer more then the chains which seem to be smaller and smaller portions for more cost. read more

Disappointing experience. Cashier warned us that there would be a wait of 7-10 min due to being understaffed AFTER we ordered and paid. We waited 20 minutes for burgers that were way smaller than the buns, thin as a bad pancake, and condiments were globbed in the middle. They also messed up both burgers. Good onion rings. Decent malt. But for a burger joint the main event falls flat. We won't be back. read more

These burgers are big and juicy the fries are just mediocre but the burgers are above and beyond. It's never too busy when I go there so that's always a plus. The staff is friendly and amazingly for the price they charge you get a ton of burger. read more

I ate at both locations while visiting the area. The burgers are great. Much better than the national burger joints- five guys and smash. The 6" bun is creative and yummy. I read comments complaining about "where's the beef" on the large single so I asked how much meat went on the single and it is 4oz which is normal. The difference is they smash it to fit the 6" bun so it maybe perceived as not a generous portion. I enjoyed it and my next visit I ordered the small triple so I could get more meat flavor vs bread. It was great as well. So if you want more meat order a double or triple (small or large) and you will be happy. The onion rings and dynobites were great. French fries are good as well. We had a chocolate shake and a butterscotch malt. Both were smooth and tasty. The meals are a great value as well. We are from New Orleans so we know good food. I suggest you give Jim's a try. I choose jim's over five guys, smash and the other burger joints. Burgers are made to order so allow time and be patient. I think our order took between 7 and 10 minutes. My Wife and I have eaten there on several occasions. We have never had a complaint about the service or the food. I usually get the 6" cheeseburger and onion rings and my Wife gets the small single with onion rings. This is NOT a fast food burger establishment. They make your burgers "to order" so yes, it takes a couple of minutes longer. Worth the wait however. read more

YES to everything. My family and I go here pretty regularly. We moved here from California 4 years ago and have had an interesting time finding any decent restaurants between fast food and sit down with decent food. This one has fantastic milkshakes, good prices and really tasty burgers. We normally encounter friendly staff with a few exceptions, but I've worked in a burger joint very similar and can understand what working at a place like this does to you, haha. Went here on a Monday at 6pm...the burgers were not good. The bun on my burger was hard and withered looking. You would think at 6pm (dinner time) that the food would be fresh.. but this burger had been sitting for awhile. Won't be back to this restaurant.. YUCK read more

What a horrific disappointment! Was so excited to stop at Jim's during a quick trip to town to visit family. I used to love coming to Jim's Burger Haven as a kid with my Dad, it was always a special treat and has always held fond memories. But after today's visit I cannot help but be extremely saddened by its current state. The place is completely filthy and horribly run down. The carpet is disgusting and was covered in food droppings and trash despite the place being empty and more than a handful of employees being behind the counter. I wanted to leave but decided that the food must still be as good as I remember...boy was I dead wrong. I could barely stomach my hamburger, it had zero flavor and the bun was freezing cold and didn't look fresh. The table we sat at was filthy and I could barely make it through the meal without wanting to leave. I will never return to Jim's ever again. SO sad. read more

Absolutely awful. This establishment is one of the worst places I have ever eaten. The food was terrible, the establishment was dirty and my order was late. We have been going to Jims on and off for about 20 years and have always been happy with the food and for the most part service. Well we went there because we haven't been in awhile and decided we wanted their giant burger, yummy! We went through the drive-thru because we had 2 little ones in the backseat and didn't want to go in. Placed my order for 5 people and waited for about 20 min for the two cars in front of me, when I got to the window the lady took my payment and proceeded to ask me if I have ever been there before, I said yes a lot, so she then proceeded to lecture me about holding up the drive-thru with my order and next time I need to go in. The funny thing is we only waited about 3 minutes for our order. I Have done this for 5 people many times before and have never been told I'm holding up the drive-thru. I thought a drive-thru was for convenience. So sadly she has cost them a long time customer. read more

This review is on the Thornton location of Jim's Burger Haven. Until last Sat evening...I had done business with Jim's for 30 years and always been happy ! On Sat 8-6-16 my wife went thru the drive in to order our dinner. My burger was "supposed to be a Large (8") Triple with cheese, fried onions, tomato, mayo and catsup,what I have ordered for 30 years !!! When she got home my triple turned out to be a double.....I'm called the location and I spoke with a lady ( who was nice and polite) and she checked our order out with the ticket # ......She then stated that someone would have to drive the incorrect product back to their location and I found this quite UNACCEPTABLE! I told her that they had just lost a HAPPY CUSTOMER of 30 years and said goodnight to her ! I just got off the phone with Suzy ( Manager)today,8-9-16 and she told me that that was company policy, and that I could have gotten a "Free" shake or fries "for my inconvenience" ....Not good enough ... I am done as their Policy is their business and NOT a policy that I can or will "Support".........any longer ! read more
