I recently took a senior to lunch at the Sheridan location. We both ordered the 6" double cheese meals. The hamburger patties were no thicker than a thin flour tortilla. When stacked on top of each other they weren't any thicker than a regular McD's hamburger patty. The Biden Effect has hit all of us hard but please don't skimp on the ingredients. Put out a decent burger and charge more. Me and my family love Jims! We have been coming here every weekend for 4 years and we have never had a bad burger here. The staff has watched my toddler grow up basically. The burgers are huge. They are fresh and delicious! The only thing that has changed is there green chili cheese fries. There green chili seems more processed. I don't like that item on there menu anymore. I drive by this restaurant every day for work and finally figured I should stop in. Burgers BUNS are massive! Honestly they over power the burger. They put emphasis on the "smash"; however you could barely taste the meat due to the amount of bread in the bun I would say average at best. Freddys better suits my needs for "smashed" burgers with much or more flavor. I also tried the green chili fries. They were decent... (but it's really hard to mess up fries). I may be being nitpicky but the chili to fry ratio was poor. There was maybe a total of 20 fries to my cup full of chili. The restaurant was filthy. I came in around 3 PM. You would think they would have time to clean up after the lunch rush. There were four ladies working that could see and mayyyybbbeeee 8 guest in the restaurant. They were all extremely nice when I spoke with 2 of them. Wow! This place never surprises me! The burgers are handmade and come in 2 sizes, the large is HUGE and loaded with toppings! The staff is always very nice. Cold soggy fry's, ordered a burger with pepper jack cheese got American and it was so cold the cheese wasn't even melted, and where so squished they where not round it looks like someone tried to roll it up like a burrito. I have been going to Kim's burger Haven since I can remember. They have 6" hamburgers the meat is thin and it comes with or without cheese. I like the cheese. It comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and mustard. I don't know why but it works. You can add jalapeno slices on the burger or a whole one on the side. This is an absolute Denver area 5-star hamburger joint. The burgers are great, very traditional, and VERY large. (Pro-tip: the smaller burger will be plenty for you!). The buns are slightly toasted, and the burgers are dressed exactly as you request. The sides are very good as well - don't miss the Dyno bites, which are breaded peppers stuffed with cheese and fried. This location (I think) has recently undergone both an ownership/management change and an upgrade, and it shows in the entire experience, all the way to customer service. For those who are strictly socially distancing due to COVID-19, just call ahead with your order and they will gladly bring it out to your car! I sit down, and open the wrapper to the biggest bun I have ever seen.... I lift up my bun and see the extremely flat but equally as round burger patty. My first thought is "Where's the beef?", and my second thought is "shut up and eat". So I did.... and I am glad that I did. I am glad I broke my 'healthy salads only' New Years resolution... I heart hamburger spots that have been around forever. I love the grease, the malts, the old booths, and onion rings. This place does not disappoint. If you're looking for a burger, theirs come in 4" and 6". No, the pun is not lost on them. They have stickers which state something along the lines of "Jim's, where 6" is big." Indeed. If burgers aren't your thing, they also serve hotdogs, pork tenderloin sandwiches, Italian sausage sandwiches, and grilled cheese. All come with your choice of toppings. Personally I think onions, pickles, and mustard are all you need, but the occasional jalapeno is nice, as well. If you're looking for a wide variety of malts, shakes, or floats, roll in here. I decided to forgo a malted, although I was tempted. I'm a staunch believer in the chocolate malted, but banana or butterscotch were tempting. I'm always basing my "where to get a burger" decisions on the availability of onion rings. I am happy to report that you can find decent ones here. Not fresh made, but almost as good. Holy Crap!!! Just give me my fucking food already!!! These people are SO fucking slow. I came to this burger joint at 12:15pm and didn't get my food until 1pm. I ordered a #1 combo. No special order. No changes. It's their 'flagship' menu item. Seriously, I have a lunch break to stay within!!! Having a lunch rush where only the customers are rushing sort of defeats the concept of FAST FOOD. The burger is big... or rather it's wide. It's tastes like a burger... not very memorable. The meat isn't juicy (just fried and dried), the bun is plain, etc. The fries obviously were ready pretty quick and must have been waiting for my burger. They weren't stone cold, but they were semi-warm and had an onion ring aftertaste. The atmosphere is nice, and the place certainly has the feel of a good place. You have to love a place who's t-shirts read "Where 6 inches is large". The burgers come in two sizes, 4" and 6". Their double dogs are split down the center then grilled, served on a hamburger bun, and their chili is tasty! Their chili cheese fries are more chili than fries, which is how it should be, in my humble opinion. I don't mean to say that it should resemble chili where some fries accidentally fell into the mix, but with chili this good, you don't want to go heavy on the fries. This is your simple, basic burger joint. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, onion rings and, of course, malts. One of the big selling points of this place is that they have 6" hamburgers. They aren't lying, these puppies are double-fisters for sure. That said, here's a little piece of advice: order the 4" instead. To make the burger 6" in diameter they have to make it pretty thin, leaving an unfortunate bun-to-burger ratio. I recommend passing on the 6" burger and getting a 4" double-meat burger instead. The onion rings are top notch, and the chocolate malt is fantastic. Oh, and the place is super-cheap: I paid $11 for a meal for two. The decor is classic: neon, vinyl seats, the whole shebang. The place has a hint of that 50's diner charm, but without taking it to the extreme (like Guenther Toody's does). All in all, a good burger, a great malt, and an enjoyable experience. read more

The kids and I used to joke that a "burger haven" should be a place where burgers are safe from harm. You know, a burger sanctuary. Not the case here. This is an old-school, kinda divey, emphatically not a chain, local color burger joint. Some Jim's Burger Haven user tips: 1) Don't come here when you're in a raging hurry. They cook your food when you order it. 2) Get a shake. They make them by hand. I hear the flavors are good but I've been unable to get beyond the canonical chocolate shake. 3) The 6" burger patty is wide but thin. I prefer a double 4" for the proper ratio of meat and condiments to bun. If you've just worked in the fields all day or run a marathon, you might enjoy the 6" double meat. It's one big sandwich. I try to eat healthily, I really do, but sometimes you just gotta have a hamburger. The Sonic a few blocks north closed, but Jim's is still going strong. read more

A friend build this place as the closest thing to In and Out as I was going to get here. Well I have to say that he's close. Another friend mentioned that there's a place in Colorado Springs I have to try that's probably a little closer to In n Out's style. Walking into the restaurant, I thought this would be a perfect location for Gordon Ramsey to do a Kitchen Nightmare show. The restaurant is worn looking. Dingy almost. The employee at the register was dirty looking. Almost scared me away. I am glad we took the chance. The wait is a little long to get food. The kitchen staff looks clean. The kitchen looks relatively clean. The burgers are strange. Huge buns, very flat patties. I would suggest getting the small burger with two or three parties. Less carbs and more meat. I've been going to Jim's Burger Haven since I was six years old and used to come here on a weekly basis. I considered it the best fast food around. But after my last experience here, I don't think I'll be coming back, and it truly pains me to say that too. I came in and ordered a chicken sandwich and a #4 combo (which by it's meaning, implies that fries and a drink are included). When my order came up 5 minutes later, I saw only two sandwiches in my bag. I asked for my drink, which they gave to me without question. Then when I asked for my fries, they said the cashier did not ring up the fries. Rather than apologize and give me a free fry (which would've been the right thing to do), I had to go back in line and reorder my fries. This didn't even bug me as much because I understand that new cashiers need training, but apparently the staff thought I had left after reordering and stopped making my fries. Seems kind of odd since a few of them were staring right at me. When I finally got the fries, I heard one of the girls working there yelling and complaining and overheard the word "stupid". What's truly stupid is that the manager of Jim's Burger Haven employs an incredibly rude and moronic staff that alienates their customer base and will ultimately drive people away who have been going there for over 20 years (example, myself). I might visit the Jim's in Thornton on the rare occasion I'm in that area, but I'll never go to the Westminster Jim's again. Jim's gets an extra star for longevity. A north Denver staple that hasn't changed the decor, the recipe, or the fryer oil since the mid 80s. Like the Wishbone and Los Arcos, you just have to eat at Jim's every now and then if you live in the north valley. Jim's won't likely get a vote for best burger, but it's a solid lunch on a huge bun.
