I really don't know how to say how overjoyed we are to see this place reopen. If you knew Jim... you knew he had a heart for people and especially his community. Not only that, he has always had the best pizza around that people drive from everywhere to have. So when you combine great pizza and a longtime resident/owner that never forgot your patronage, you have one of the best staple places in north Texas. So... what about now? Jim passed... soooo how's the food? ON point! Same as it was - but even better at the new location! More room, same great hospitality. Best buffet around! As as true to Jim's love for our military, there is a military discount. Show them some love! Enjoy the pictures... their pizza has been perfected since 1969.

    Sausage pizza and lasagne....

We decided to try Jim's after hearing raves from a number of McKinney natives. We arrived right at 5:25 (actually a couple minutes before start time for the buffet), and most of the pizza offerings on the buffet were already gone. The buffet offers salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, toast (possibly garlic), lasagne (I believe that's only on Fridays and Saturdays) and about 4-5 choices of pizza. They had pepperoni, cheese, sausage, and a "deluxe" version that had pepperoni, sausage, peppers, olives and onions, and a "dessert pizza". To their credit, they did restock pizza on the buffet fairly regularly, so we were able to sample each. There was only one server on duty, so I ended up just getting my drink refills myself. As for the food: - The pizza wasn't too bad, but to be honest I've had better. Being an extremely thin (like cracker-thin) crust, I think it's easy to overcook, and sitting on the buffet dries it out even more. Maybe extra thin crust just isn't my thing. - The spaghetti was also kinda dry, sitting in a pan. They might want to consider leaving it in water, or at least sprinkling a little water on it from time to time. The marinara meat sauce was actually pretty good, but the dry spaghetti diminished the taste. - I thought the lasagna was actually better than what I've had at places like Olive Garden. It had a real homemade taste to it, and endures well sitting in a pan on the buffet. - My wife tried the dessert pizza and was a little disappointed. It's basically crust with butter and sugar. Some cinnamon would've helped the taste. Summary: we enjoyed the fact that it was a buffet, and got to enjoy several varieties of pizza and pasta in one sitting. Not the greatest as some people have commented, but not terrible. Definitely try the lasagna! We'll probably be back when we get a hankerin' for a variety of pizzas.

Their new location is fabulous and closer to shopping areas.... the pizza is sizzling hot on the buffet line... hard to find at other places. They offer up a salad bar with a great variety to include some of everything. Tonia was our wait person and she met our needs before we even asked. You feel valued in this place where the legacy of great food and good company prevail. I find myself going now every week. Their new address is 2107 El Dorado Parkway..near the McAllisters... yummy hot fresh pizza!!!

My wife and I came here for a quick dinner. The pizza we order was fair and the lady server was nice. The person who took our order was good. We did like the one and only TV as it did not cause a distraction while talking. My wife did see a coach roach near the fountain machine which kinda grossed her out. Overall it was an okay experience.

I was excited to try this place! Where do I start. My pizza was cool. The crust was hard and gummy. I had a spinach, chicken, mushroom and onion pizza and it tasted SALTY! I am disappointed and I feel cheated. Definitely will not patron here again.

Asian Buffet McKinney. Special for 60+ years of age Mon-Fri…read more14:00-15:30 $8.99 all your can eat.. In 2026 price went up by $1. Now $9.99. On Jul 14 went to this place. All the same but was very hut inside. Next time (Aug 14, 2026) I took thermometer with me (see attachment photo). This entity not ONLY SAVED MONEY on electricity bill, but FORSING customers to leave earlier and save on price of food. I couldn't sustain 80+ temperature and left after 25 minutes. Even more: At check out dude was trying to charge me for drink, I didn't order. AND NOTISE.. Plates where NOT TAKEN OUT. Should I gave tip for such "ABOVE and beyond" service??? That was last time I visited this ROTTEN PLASE. ########################## They answered on Google maps: "Response from the owner 12 hours ago Thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry you felt uncomfortable during your visit. The outdoor temperature was around 100°F that day, and we did have difficulty maintaining the indoor temperature. However, the temperature shown on a personal thermometer you took out and photographed does not necessarily represent the overall temperature inside the restaurant. Regarding the drink charge, if you were charged for a drink you did not order, we apologize and will look into it. Thank you for your feedback". ############ My answer to them: "I don't know WHY website doesn't let me give an answer to Asian buffet respond of Aug 19, 2026. So, this is MY ANSWER to asian buffet: "1). "Outdoor temperature was around 100°F that day, and we did have difficulty maintaining the indoor temperature". After Asian buffet I was shopping in ALDI & Fiesta Market and temperature there was normal. Today (Aug 19) I visited Cici's Pizza (half of mile of your restaurant). Temperature inside was normal, comfortable. Outside was 104 (!) F. During previous visit to Asian Buffet on July 14 was SAME HOT INSIDE but MAXIMUM outside temperature was 90 F (See data link: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/mckinney/75069/july-weather/335923). That why on Aug 14 I took thermometer to make sure that (as my opinion) your business uses the scheme to save food by creating an inconvenient environment for customers, which is why they will leave your restaurant earlier than planned. And you saved money. 2). "Temperature shown on a personal thermometer you took out and photographed does not necessarily represent the overall temperature inside the restaurant". Temperature shown on a personal thermometer and photographed represent temperature WHERE I was sitting. 3). "If you were charged for a drink, you did not order". I wrote: "dude was TRYING to charge me for drink". So, I notice overcharge BEFORE run credit card, and wasn't charged for drink (you maybe should read what customer wrote BEFORE answering). So, instead of looking for excuses Asian Buffet maybe should admit wrong doing and just apologize? And customers will continue to visit your business and enjoy very good food". Aug 19, 2026.

You are allowed to order 3 dishes each round for the apps. They come around with the pasta and meat portions. Bad thing is that you can never say no! Ambiance: it felt so cute and cozy! There was live music and gave such a homey vibe for a high scale restaurant. Looking around, every table was there to celebrate some kind of event so make sure to make reservations! Service 5/5: we made reservations prior and we came for a birthday celebration. Our server was AMAZING. he explained everything to us and gave recs! I wish I got his name but he was fantastic! Took care of us and always checked in :) Parking: free parking around the building!

First of all, I got an email inviting me to come visit the restaurant with a buy one get one free, but it kind of seemed like they were annoyed that we were using it. This could be just my anxiety, but I felt like we were treated a little bit less warmly by some of the staff than other tables. For example, a manager of some type was walking the floor. He stopped at the table before us and checked in on them, skipped us and went to the table after us and checked in on them, and then only on his way back to wherever he was going, he stopped reluctantly and acknowledged us. It definitely made me feel like we were not as welcome as the other tables. Second, I don't like the inclusion of the picanha for the higher price (vs. what they were doing before which was an upcharge if you wanted the steak), because the protein that I like at Casa Pollastro is the chicken. I don't really love their steak and do not want to pay $10pp more for it. Lastly, what I had loved about this restaurant in the past was that it felt like I was enjoying a meal at a family home, served with love and care. I think that they've made some changes which are smart for a restaurant, but it took away a lot of the warm and fuzzies for me. It felt like they're trying really hard to be a high-end restaurant but what I remember from this last experience was coldness and putting profit first. Now I can't be mad if they want to grow up as a restaurant and this is just part of the growing pains, but I will mourn the loss of the experience that we loved so much that we chose to have our engagement party at this restaurant. We will not be back.

My husband and I had never been to a BBQ joint quite like this before. At first, we were looking around like, "Is this a buffet?" Lol The restaurant has a really cool Western BBQ feel, and you can smell the BBQ smoking before you even walk inside. The meat is weighed by the pound, and we ordered brisket, baked potatoes, creamed corn, green beans, and a brisket-stuffed pepper wrapped in bacon. One of the coolest things is that if you eat inside the restaurant, dessert is FREE! They had peach cobbler, banana pudding, and ice cream. The brisket was AMAZING, and so were the creamed corn, green beans, peach cobbler, and those bacon-wrapped stuffed peppers! We really enjoyed everything we tried. This was such a fun experience and some seriously good BBQ. I can't wait to return!

Back in March I excitedly went to enjoy my usual brisket sandwich and green beans to find out they changed those to an entirely different recipe. Greasy and over powered with bacon and sweetness ruined what once was the best side they had there. Upon my most recent visit back two weeks ago I was hoping to find that they maybe realized they had made a mistake and went back to the original green beans but unfortunately that was not the case. Still those nasty greasy green beans. Eww! Also, my brisket sandwich this time was a no go. I asked for the lean cut but had to pick it apart to remove all of the fat in it which then made the bun super soggy. I was so disappointed again :( I'm not really sure what changes are being made and why but some things just need to stay the same. If it's not broke, don't try and fix it...

It had a crunchy sugar coat that was perfect with the tangy pineapple. I wanted that and some ice cream for my dessert so our server brought me a hot/fresh one after the ice cream came out.
