Not skimpy on the toppings but I've noticed that they tend to make pizzas and lay them behind the counter waiting for the buffet line to clear before putting them out. That results in sometimes the crust being stale and cardboard-like. Also, the people that put the pizzas out aren't careful and sometimes their shirts drag along the pizzas and toppings. read more

Usually sorting the week this pizza place rates a four or five. This Sunday evening my wife and I were met at the registry y a young man who looked angry. Never a hello or any type of greeting. The only pizzas were pepperoni and cheese. The entrance to the location was still very wet from being mopped. It was extremely slick even for my non skid shoes. Because it was so slick my wife had to go outside and enter from the other door. At 8:20 the place started shutting down and the salads and pizzas were removed. Great value the pizza buffet, they will make whatever pizza you request. I really enjoyed their white sauce/no sauce cheese pizza. Buffet was well maintained. Inside it has old vibes but is very clean inside. No dust even where you might expect it. Their ranch dressing is good, I did not care for the tomato sauce at all. Much better experience Tuesday evening, lady at front counter was very nice and very welcoming! Buffet is very good, they stay on top of putting out fresh items and also watchful for people who aren't as sanitary as they should be at a buffet. I always appreciate staff who take that seriously! We are from OKC and our pizza is pretty legit... This location was near the hotel we were staying and near the Walmart market store we shopped at .. so we gave it a try. Cool throwback decor!!! Greeted from a smiling staff member that explained all our questions. Including information on Togo slices!!! Wow this place is doing things right!!! (Took Togo back to hotel staff... They were very pleased) Mama's did a great job for dinner.. Got out cups and filled drinks Drinks were kept on full. Pizzas came out /hot/fresh and tasty!!! My beer was ice cold. I recommend the cheese sticks and cinnamon rolls for must haves. The salad bar was fresh and tasty.. has me wanting to return when in the area!! Decently fast prepping of the food and the rest of the staff was super friendly! I was very pleased with our visit! We will return when in the area! I've had Mama's Pizza before and the buffet did not disappoint. We are always on the hunt for a pizza buffet, and ran into this one on TikTok. It was about a 40 minute drive from Dallas. The place itself is a little small, I would say the pizza bar could be bigger. When the pizza comes out everyone forms a line that wraps around the salad bar and the front booth (which is where we were sitting). The space is tight in that whole front area, including the drink station. But that's okay, the pizza was delicious and the cinammon rolls were the big star of the show! The lunch buffet is everyday, 11:00-2:00 and the dinner buffet starts up again at 5:30. We came a little early, and we were able to start with our salads. The pizza was set out right at 5:30. Great and fast service! All in all, great place, we'll definitely be back!! It was worth the drive. read more

If this was solely for the pizza and food I'd give it a 4 stars but after a recent visit this is more accurate. Up to that point I'd only had it to go. We had the pizza buffet and the food is good you can also order whatever pizza you'd like and they'd make it and call it out when it's done. There's also a salad bar. The place could use some updating though apparently it's looked the same for years. The main issue was one person in our party sat down at one of the booths and the spring in it stabbed her in the leg. It was jutting out but not visible to the eye. We complained to the workers there and thought they might get the manager but they did not and they did not apologize or seem to take our concern into consideration. This was a safety thing... So there you go. Wish I could tell you which booth it is but either way be careful. read more

I've been here many many times for years. Recently it seems like there's been a subtle change with the pizza--the dough is maybe a little thinner, it cooks all the way through and the bottom is crispy. This is certainly a positive change in my book. The cheese and pepperoni are both great when they're fresh out of the oven. The white and spinach pizzas are good too. Like always, it's the salad bar that draws me in but it's nice to see their pizza game has improved. Everyone is always nice and they keep everything clean. So no complaints. read more

So, we used to head to the Mama's location, when we lived in Mansfield, it was always a great experience, so when we stumbled across a location here in Plano, we absolutely took a drive. The main difference is the Plano location offers their buffet at dinner as well as lunch, Okay, the summary version is this: 1. The dining room is bigger than it looks from outside. 2. The parking lot and the entryway are small (and a bit of a pit of bottlenecks) 3. The service area for the buffet is too tight and congested. 4. Their pizza is fresh, delicious, and real. You won't find a buffet of child-focused option with nothing for an adult palette. (I refrain from naming names). 5. The salad bar is fresh with plenty of options. 6. Their creamy Italian dressing!!!!! 'Nuff said. 7. Fist-sized cinnamon rolls go really fast when they come up so be prepared. The only item we did not like was their pasta sauce on the buffet. It was too thick and garlicky for our tastes. I do suspect it had been up there long enough to reduce and over- concentrate. They offer their buffet at lunch and dinner, so give it a try. I've been coming to this Mama's pizza location in Plano since it opened. I encountered the WORST Customer service from the manager with the purple hair. They messed up my order and she didn't even apologize and gave me major attitude acting as if I was going to make a scene and I purely came back inside from checking my order and seeing it was incorrect. I asked them to remake it asap and she got on her high horse thinking she was all that and was looking to start a brawl with me. Who does that?! I walked away. She needs to check herself and leave her bad attitude at the door before working! As long as she continues to be employed there I will NEVER return. I've lived in Plano 50 years and never encountered such crappy customer service from this staff at this location before until today. I also wanted to speak to her boss and was told I could only email that person so I did and the owner called me back was very apologetic and agreed there was no excuse for the manager's behavior. Come to find out the young man helping me was the manager's son. That was so unprofessional for her to get defensive when no altercation happened between us. She has a bad obvious chip on her shoulder. Very Bad and disappointing experience and service all around. Let me start by saying we usually love Mama's pizza. We order a pizza (exact same combo ) every week for pickup. I started ordering when I arrived a couple months ago because it would be lukewarm by the time I got home. I live 4 min away So today I ordered my usual. I asked the guy taking the order to please make sure my olives were on the side this time. Last time I didn't receive them. He said ok. When my order arrived, I asked for two Parmesan. He gave me one. I asked again and he gave me another. The entire interactions with him, he never smiled and basically seemed to be annoyed at everything I asked. When I gat to my car I checked my pizza. No olives on the side. The jalapeños that were supposed to be in half the pizza were a total of 6. Five of them on 2 slices. I returned to be totally ignored while he finished ringing up another customer. My pizza getting colder and colder. I told him about the olives and the jalapeños. He went to the kitchen then returned to wait on someone else. Never apologizing or even letting me know someone else would bring my olives. When she did she threw the olives on the counter and tried to leave fast. I called to her and told her I didn't get extra jalapeños. Can you guess what she did??! She opened my pizza to check and see if I was telling the truth about the jalapeños! She saw the pizza and returned and brought me more. Never apologizing either. By this time my pizza is not hot anymore. We all know what they say happens when you complain too much, so I wasn't about to When I arrived no one was at the counter, in line, etc. They were slow. 6 pm as usual. By the time I left it was starting to pick up but not as busy as in the past. Also a Monday. I have to say this was the worst customer service I've experienced anywhere. And I've been a weekly customer for months. The cashier has never been very personable. The woman has. I don't know what problem they were having today but I didn't deserve to be treated like that So delicious pizza or not - I do not recommend them anymore read more

I was highly disappointed in Mama's Pizza strictly due to the pizza options. They only offered four pizzas at a time, but you can put in a request. The salad bar was bigger than the pizza warmer! $10 for all-you-can-eat. It is slight more expensive than Cici's and slightly better as well. Went to plano original location for dinner buffet. Only a few pizzas are served at a time but they kept on coming. Crust is surprisingly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Cinnamon buns are just rightly sweetened. This location which have been here for so long seems to have stood the test of time. Can't beat the price and the good Pizzas. Imo, the best pizza buffet for the money, period! Great, fresh salad bar with real salad dressing, not the waterdown version you sometimes get at other places. Really like their creamy italian. Most of the pizza selection is great. They will make what you want if you ask for it. There is a new Pizza Inn with all day buffet near where i live and it was no comparison to Mama's, and it cost few dollars more. Gina the hostess is always super friendly and always remembers you. This is a high end area w $2mil houses and lots of potential customers but they don't care. Started out pretty good but now it just kinda sucks. Went for the pizza buffet with the kids. Salad bar was a little lacking but it had the basics. The pizza selection varies as they are constantly bringing out different pies and pastas. They were all good but not "fantastic". Since it was a buffet there wasn't service per se, but the staff kept the food stocked and the cashier was very nice. As far as pizza buffets go, the ambiance was on par with what you'd expect. Parking was a bit difficult at lunchtime but adequate. Overall I'd say it was good but not great. read more

I've been ordering pizza from Mamma's since 1980 and currently drive 45 min round trip to pick my pizzas up. No more. Some may blame Covid, supply chain, inflation, labor shortages for the skimpy use of ingredients that made a Mamma's pizza stand out from all others but the problems are deeper. Slicing a 20" pizza in 2.5" slices is ridiculous. Was ice cold pizza by the time we got home. I gave Mamma's too much time I guess, picked it up early even. They told me the pizza had anchovies on the whole pizza...was only intended for half...there were none on the pizza. That's it. No reason ever to go to Mamma's. I hope they change back to what made them great. It was gross. They will go out of business if management doesn't step in at some point soon. read more
