Our dryer started taking longer and longer to dry our clothes and then simply started shutting off. At first we thought we needed to call a dryer repair service. Before doing that, we checked the dryer vent where it exited from the house, which was a good ways from dryer and found a lot of built-up lint trapped in the duct work. I found one companyvthat was highly rated on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website and they quoted me a very reasonable price to come out, inspect, clean and repair. Best part? They didn't give me a time range like most service providers (like anywhere between 8 and noon), they gave me a specific time they would arrive! The tests they ran, and the inspection, confirmed we had a huge lint build-up. In short order, it was cleaned out and returned to operational status. Suoer professional, courteous, clean, and fast! Not only did they clean the vent they re-taped all the joints, replaced a section I had removed, and added strapping to support the long run leading to the rooftop. Jim, owner of A1 Dryer Vent Cleaning, was available on short order and removed the clog that was 100% blocking our dryer exhaust thus returning our dryer to better than normal working status. On the day of our appointment, he was running ahead of schedule, and called to see if he could come by earlier than originally scheduled. After 19 years, i finally got a brand new washer/dryer in February. Then after several months, the dryer shut off with the code that it was 80% blocked. I did some research both on Yelp and our Nextdoor neighborhood Web site and A1 Dryer Vent was highly recommended. I contacted this company on Thursday and they responded right away and I had an apt for the following Monday. Steve arrived on time, explained what he was going to do and quickly got to work. He determined the vent on our roof was completely sealed shut by paint from the builders (built in 2017) and all the lint had been being trapped this whole time. I'm so glad I got them out to us! I contacted this company based on their great reviews but apparently they don't read emails or bother to respond to them in a timely manner so I have to find someone else to do the work. We discussed a date, I confirmed the date, they didn't show up, claim to have missed my confirming email, he asked to set up another time for the next day, said it would be difficult but what time were they proposing, never heard back the next day by noon , nor did they respond to the message I left on their voicemail they day they were supposed to be here. Thankfully we found A1 Dryer Vent cleaning to come out and clean out our vent. We had another company come out earlier and they did not go on the roof to finish the job. They said they had a guarantee that if it wasn't fixed to call them and they would come out again - we'll we called and we couldn't get a hold of them. We have lived in this house 9 years and have never had a dryer that has worked well. It has always taken about 3 loads (or more) to dry the clothes. We have tried cleaning the vent pipe ourselves on a number of occasions with little to no change. Finally, we splurged for a new dryer (a smart dryer) and guess what? Not only did the new dryer not dry the clothes any faster, but now the "smart" sensor kept shutting the thing off after running for 10 minutes. After a few choice words, in desperation, I pulled out the owners manual. Turns out the dryer was telling me there was no airflow and as a safety precaution kept shutting itself off. I called A1 and scheduled an appointment for the next day. Jim was early for the appointment. He immediately went up to the roof and found the vent pipe had been smunched almost closed to fit the opening in the roof. No wonder there was no airflow. He fixed the pipe, cleaned out the lint and was on his way. Just now, I was able to run a full load of clothes through the dryer and they were dry in 1 cycle, and the stupid thing didn't shut itself off 1 time. Amazing. I cringe at how much electricity we have wasted over the years. Do yourself a favor, call A1. Jim did a great job explaining what was wrong and what needed to be done to fix it. read more
