I don't usually do yelp reviews but I wanted to make sure I did one for Jim's Plumbing mainly because searching for a good, honest, knowledgable, reliable and affordable plumber through yelp, googling and asking people is like finding a needle in a hay stack. I called at least 8 plumbers and each of them quoted me insane prices or couldn't come for a week or so. After going down the list I found Jim's Plumbing and was pleasantly surprised with the costs and customer service. Dave, the owner called me the morning of my appointment and was prompt to his appointment. I showed him exactly where the leak was and where I needed to get a toilet replaced. He quickly assessed that my leak was due to a deteriorated wax ring. First off he was extremely clean and respectful of my house and wore shoe covers when he was walking in my condo. He continually cleaned up after himself. He quickly replaced the toilet cleaned up and actually hauled away my old toilet. I highly recommend Jim's plumbing to anyone that is in South Bay and I will be using him in the future! Just make sure to have cash or a personal check to pay, he unfortunately doesn't accept credit card. I didn't have cash on hand so Dave patiently waited until I ran to the ATM. Jim's Plumbing & Heating came through big for me a few months ago when my ejector pump (or sump pump) went out in my basement. When I started to smell a fowl odor in the house I had no clue what it was. Two days later, when I inspected the space underneath the house, I found the source of the smell. The tank that houses the ejector pump was backing up and not properly expelling water and sewage from the tank to the street level. After a couple different visits from two other plumbers (both of which were sent by my insurance through my home warranty plan), I realized my warranty was not going to cover the extremely shocking quotes. One was way over $2,000 for a new pump and pipes etc, while the other quote was to repair the electrical outlet that the pump was plugged into because that plumber said it was a faulty electrical issue and not the pump. I was like, "huh, I'm confused!" I knew I needed to get one more opinion from someone who I found myself and researched online. So I called Jim's Plumbing and spoke with David (the owner). Yes, David. He was extremely helpful with my case and understood that I already had other plumbers come in and give me two different suggestions, which would have created two different outcomes. This is when I was lucky I found David from Jim's Plumbing. I really appreciated his sincerity and his interest in trying to troubleshoot as much over the phone before he said I needed the ejector pump. He even rearranged his schedule a bit to accommodate my emergency on a Friday afternoon. In the end, I needed a new pump because mine was completely dead (shot!!). All was good though because he was so quick and wasn't trying to up-sell me on needing new piping like one of the other guys. And luckily the pump was available at a local parts store. He is very well connected to this area because he was able to quickly arrange for the pump to be readily available for immediate pickup. I was so pleased with my experience that I requested a handful of his business cards so I could hand them out to close friends who might need David's services some day. And now I have to call for his services again because my kitchen sink is backed up. Not reluctantly though because I know he'll do a great job. Thanks David and Jim's Plumbing! read more

It's a holiday weekend, and we have a clogged (majorly clogged) kitchen sink and people coming over this afternoon. I checked yelp for nearby plumbers and saw the great reviews for Jim's Plumbing and gave them a call. Within an hour and a half, Dave was here and fixed not only the clogged kitchen sink, but also the slow draining shower. Five stars for prompt, reliable and friendly service. read more

We have a home in the Hollyglen area of Hawthorne. We called and made an appointment and Dave was at our home when he said he would be. We did a complete remodel of our kitchen. Dave installed our dishwasher, garbage disposal, kitchen sink faucet and plumbing pipes under sink. He was so professional and did a great job. Unfortunately I tried to give Dave (from Jim's) the benefit of the doubt but he's not been responsive. He came out and did some work in my house about a month ago. The sink drain he installed leaks and there are other issues (some not his fault) that need to be addressed. He did tell me he was going on vacation but I have not heard back from him since his first visit. Actually, he did call me and leave me a message about coming back. However, I've since called him back multiple times and get no response. So I have no choice to give him a sub par review. He's been paid in full but the job was not completed and what was completed is not working. I can't in good conscience recommend someone like this. read more

Jim's Plumbing was there for me in a pinch. I was on vacation and had a rental unit with drain problems. The renter was frantic because she was having a party that night. I found Jim's plumbing on yelp and called them. Talked to Dave the owner and he was friendly, knowledgable and willing to help right away. He went to the house within the hour and had the drains cleaned and running within an hour of arriving. His price was very fair and he did a great job! I offered to give him my credit card over the phone since I was out if town and he said he would send me the bill and I could send him a check when I get home! They advertise " emergency" service but if you call for that purpose, despite the fact that they answered the phone and I told them that water and sewage were pouring into the house from a malfunctioning sump pump, their advise was... "call in the morning." This was not remotely an option. As a result, I would not use them for routine or emergency service in the future. read more

David, over at Jim's Plumbing is a nice guy who's been in the business for years. It was only a matter of about two hours from the time I called for him to get out to the house, assess the damage, make a run for some parts and have everything fixed and water back on. Super speedy service! It's good to know I have a somebody to call if I need to. Would highly recommend. read more

Warning!!!!!! I have never written a review before; as matter of fact, it would be just fine with me if I never write another one again. The reason I'm writing this review is the Utter Disgust I have for Jim's Plumbing, and my experience with them. Jim's Plumbing was paid a large amount of money to replace the water and drain pipes under the house. On the Day of Install, I was taken aback when told, that the Plumber who sold the job to me would not be doing the work. Instead, two rather upheavled looking men started what would turn out to be the beginning of my plumbing nightmares. Briefly, my plumbing has not worked since they allegedly replaced it. After repeated complaints, and return trips from plumbers (that didn't seem to do any additional work), my drains still do not drain, backing up about every six months. After a few lame attempts to correct the problem, their attitude started to get nasty, and then suddenly they quit responding to any attempts to get redress. Finally, I paid a plumber who informed me that Jim's Plumbing ripped me off. That they only replaced the pipes that I could see from the crawl opening and left much of the contracted work undone. I am still trying to find the strength and resolve to seek legal remedy, a long and costly ordeal.
