However there are two reasons for the average rating: 1. Wait time is riduculous for this type of food. No matter what app I order from, the driver has to wait there for an extended period of time (by the time they get there there has been plenty of time to complete the order) this isn't every single time but is frequent and a few times the driver has left because it took so long and my order had to wait even longer for another driver to pick it up. Other Jims locations I have not experienced this. 2. My order is frequently missing items or screwed up in some way. (I.e. requested condiments or toppings that are missing, beverage paid for is missing, side is missing) Luckily the app I order from will refund the missing items but this location should step up their delivery/pick-up game a little bit because I can't tell you how disappointing it is to wait 45 min to an hour longer than your quoted delivery only to have one or more things you ordered missing. read more

Took fifteen minutes to get to the window and pay and another fifteen minutes to get my order. Thirty minutes waiting in the drive-thru. Experiences here have been getting worse and worse, mainly because of the staff. The first time I called to put an order in last week, I was put on hold for more than 10 minutes. After I hung up and called back again, I was put on hold for more than 7 minutes before I hung up. This was a Sunday evening, around 8:30 PM, there was no way it was busy. I had to drive to put my order instead. There were 6 customers inside - 4 already seated and eating, and 2 waiting for their orders. Two cars in the drive thru. I had 4 EMPLOYEES not help me for almost 5 minutes. 3 of them were making food, but, it was just a sub and what looked like a taco. A little acknowledgment, maybe a "sorry for the wait, it'll just be a minute." The other employee came in from outside staring at his phone, looked up at me, and proceeded to walk right past me. Finally, after 5 minutes of the employees deciding they couldn't ignore me further, the manager (I'm presuming) came to the register and asked what the name on the order was that I was picking up. When I informed him I was trying to PLACE an order, I had such a "you're imposing on me a lot" reaction given to me in return. The female employee who made my food called my number after 15 minutes and tossed my food on the counter, turned around, and walked away without a "thanks" or "have a nice day." Very little care in what she was doing, she also looked depressed as hell. It was just weird. You have to teach your employees how to interact with customers better. The food is good, but the service kind of sucks. I've also been hearing from friends who frequent this location that some of the bread being used on subs has mold on it. When I lived in New York City, it became a tradition for me to eat at Jim's Steak-Out whenever I traveled to WNY to visit relatives. I had been a fan of Jim's since before I moved there and it was one of the major staples of Western NY cuisine that I missed the most while I was away. As much as I loved living in New York City, you simply can't get authentic Buffalo fare down there. Since I've returned to the area, I've eaten here a handful of times, and I haven't yet tired of it. I've never had a particularly bad experience here. The worst incident I can recall occurred in 2012, and it was resolved with a high degree of professionalism. I arrived home with my take-out, only to notice some major discrepancies with my order, such as mayo being put on the sandwich when I had specified otherwise (normally, I check my food before leaving a restaurant, but I simply hadn't that day). I called the restaurant and explained the issue to the manager. I also mentioned that I lived about 20 minutes away. He offered to have a new sub made for me AND to reimburse me for the cost of the order due to the inconvenience of having to travel back to the restaurant. Please remember that this was seven years ago - I'm not sure if this is their current or standard policy (I believe the distance of my home from the restaurant factored into how the problem was addressed), and I'm also not encouraging anyone to have these expectations or to try abusing the company's generosity in any way. However, it's worth noting that I was very happy with how the situation was handled. Since then, I've never had an unpleasant experience. My order has always been prepared accurately and with consistent quality and portions. I've read several other reviews noting major issues with the outcomes of food orders, and by praising the venue, I'm not trying to discount anyone's legitimately unsatisfactory experience. However, I can only speak for myself, and I'm always happy with my food. Usually, I order a chicken finger sub. I also really enjoy the fries here. Other times you would think you just picked up your sub from the lake bed. The food isn't consistent either. Sometimes the steak can be over-tough, even un-chewable. I ordered Philly cheese fries last week (which were incredible). Went back for seconds this week and I dont think I even got a handful of fries + it came with a ton of grease. I'm also not thrilled with the price. A steak hoagie + specialty fries comes out to over $16. Pretty expensive. I hoped I'd be able to come back with a more positive review. Sadly, it was worse this time. We dined in this visit. We both had the turkey club sub. This WAS my favorite place to get a turkey club from. Not anymore. The service was okay, but I didn't appreciate watching one certain employee who was putting my sub together grab a headset and put it on her head with gloves on and then not change them. Gross. The quality is wayyyy down. The turkey used to be thin sliced and yummy, this time it was thick cut with brown lines and weird clear gelatin streaks throughout. Of course, I haven't been here enough times to cycle through the menu and have stuck with the "famous hoagie," the steak version minus the fried onions. The sauce and cheese hit the spot and make a nice steak sandwich. Is it the same as the best ones from Phildaelphia? No, but I don't look for good wings in Philadelphia, either. For a decent local cheesesteak, this is the place. The fries are nothing special but are all right, the basic frozen ones fried until crispy - not a bad thing. Being a local chain - or mini-chain - this is a place you can find around the area. On Friday evening, 1/6/23, my son and I made the mistake of stopping at Jim's SteakOut. I ordered a Jefferson sub. We poured our drinks (the Dr Pepper nozzle was spewing toward the front shooting product over my hand) and went to find a table. We finally cleaned the debris off a table and sat down. My son went to the counter to pick up the food. I was surprised to see that the subs were already cut in half. My saUb was wrapped while in the open condition and the sauce all over the paper. They even forgot the sausage. I commented to my son about a loud argument going on with f bombs dropping. I got up and closed the kitchen door commenting on the LOUD noise. We ordered 10 subs to feed a bunch of people at work. It's late- about an hour and half before they close. The man on phone has kind of an attitude. Not sure if its because they are closing soon? Anyways. We get the subs and they are the biggest sloppiest mess I've ever seen. They were literally just thrown in the bag with no care whatsoever. Probably could have used 2 bags for an order this big. Subs on the bottom were completely smushed. Some subs the order was incorrect. Some of them weren't even shut ?? When you work overnights in a small town, options are slim and what you have available usually isn't the greatest. Luckily, Jim's Steakout is a safe bet for delicious food. The service typically isn't the best. If you like food a certain way other than the normal, I'd recommend double-checking your order for accuracy as the kids working in the back tend to make food on autopilot without looking at the ticket. But when your food is made accurately, you'll walk away happy. It's certainly not the place for you if you're calorie conscious but if you want some greasy steak subs or (my personal favorite) some chicken tacos slathered in wing sauce, Jim's Steakout is the place to go. read more

We were in the area for a wedding and drove by this place and decided to give it a try since we seem to have a hard time finding good cheesesteaks where we live. I lived on the east coast for a number of years so I know what a good cheesesteak is supposed to taste like. Jims came the closest to any place I've been in the Midwest but it still wasn't quite there yet. I ordered the frenchy and my boyfriend got the chicken philly. I liked the finely chopped meat and the nice greasiness of the sandwich but I felt that it needed green pepper and all the veggies should have been more finely chopped. The Jims sauce however was great and was kind of spicy and vinegary at the same time. I also liked how crispy the fries were and that they give you packets of vinegar to go with them. I tried some of my boyfriends chicken philly and it was delicious. I like how the bread is crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. You do have to wait a little bit for the food but as long as your expecting this I don't see it as a problem. We will definitely be coming back here to try some other things next time we are in the area. read more
