Was jonesing for dimsum but didn't want to deal with the hassle of Chinatown. A Yelp search turned up this jem. The reviews were positive so me and the wife took the 20 minute drive from East Norriton for lunch. Arrived a little before noon Saturday to a not too full parking lot. Decor was pleasantly upscale. Real tablecloths and napkins. Promptly seated. Server was pleasant but not overly friendly. We opted for a couple of their dimsum samplers plus my fav sticky rice. They don't do the Hong Kong style carts but are cooked to order. Not an issue as the food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. Meals came with soup. My wife's wonton was excellent. Wrappers were nice and delicate. Reminded my of my mom's. My hot and sour soup was ok but a little too sour for my taste. The shumai and hargow were perfectly steamed. The cha sui bao was my wife's fave. Prices were slightly higher than Chinatown but considering the quality and the free parking it was well worth it. We had also been looking for a venue to replace the defunct LaiLai in Blue Bell to hold private parties and this place looks like it could fit the bill. They have a large banquet room on the 2nd floor complete with a dance floor. Discussed options with Sunnie the owner who was very nice and helpful. We'll be coming back often. read more

We are from Hawaii dropping off our oldest at Villanova University. The pics of this place looked decent and it was near by. I grew up in a Chinese family operating a restaurant and had to even work it all my childhood /teenage years. So I am very critical about the Chinese food I eat. I have to say this JIN DING Restaurant is pure quality...Plenty of parking, dining room is big and spacious, the soups that comes with the lunch special were QUALITY (I am expert on the Hot & Sour Soup). The dishes were also high quality. I ordered the General Tao's Chicken as I recently saw it on YOUTUBE and since then was on my mind to try it. No restaurant in Hawaii makes it. It was really good. It's the high end /quality of Panda Express Orange Chicken. They have dessert menu that looks absolutely delicious, but we're just to full from eating everything we had ordered. Nothing is wasted. I would definitely come again and recommend this place for anyone to come and try it. read more

Nothing special. While the staff is nice and the restaurant is clean and well maintained, the food is just average. All three of my family's meals were covered in an excessive amount what seems to be generic sauces. The noodles were both crispy and soggy but the rest was acceptable. read more

I'm so happy to have found Jin Ding, which serves Cantonese-Chinese food, including dim sum, on the Main Line. I'm generally skeptical of most food in the suburbs, but am happy to report that Jin Ding is at least as good as, or better than (depending on the specific dish) many Chinese restaurants in Ardmore/Wynnewood and Philly's Chinatown. A big plus for me, personally, is that the food isn't over-seasoned. I appreciate that eating here does not imply stressing out my kidneys and having to drink 5 glasses of water afterwards. For the old timers who remember Yangming at this location, Jin Ding isn't a rebranding. New management took over. It is unfortunate that they opened in the midst of the pandemic in 2020, which no doubt accounted for some of the teething issues reported in older reviews. Hopefully, they won't recur as things get back to normal. Our favorite dim sum items include the soup dumpling, scallion pancake, roast pork bun, shao mai, crystal shrimp dumpling, and pan fried pork & vegetable bun. We also like the sweet and sour pork in the Meat section, and the eggplant garlic sauce in the Vegetables and Tofu section. The space is large, and they have several semi-private rooms for large group dinners of ~10 people. They can also host very large parties and events of upwards of a 100 people. read more

Chicken was delicious so soft and with an awesome Korean style sauce was really as good as it can get I imagine. Beef yakatori is a must in my opinion. Shrimp balls and crab Rangoon was yummy too. Tea was excellent of course. read more

We moved into the neighborhood and was craving dim sum. Not wanting to drive to Philadelphia/NYC Chinatown, we came here to give it a try. I'm a big time dim sum snob .. Grew up in NYC Chinatown, and man this is really bad. I would recommend against getting the dim sum items .. We got shrimp rolls, beef rolls, fried chives bun, sticky rice, and beef chow fun. While I appreciated the less oil concept, things were just not fresh. Everything that had beef had a weird musk and I ended up getting awful diarrhea. The steamed rice crepe felt dense, which usually implies it was frozen and/or the person making it used too much rice flour. Although I understand we are miles away from Chinatown, at $6-8 a dim sum serving, I wasn't expecting diarrhea and musky beef. The chow fun was decent, but I doubt I'd return anytime soon. read more

BLAND - NO FLAVOR! We were highly unsatisfied with our food. I ordered tofu and specifically requested that my tofu be fried hard and crispy with sauce on the side so my tofu would not become soggy since I despise soggy tofu. I was served bland no flavor water logged tofu squares with absolutely so flavor or any evidence of any type of seasonings. It seemed like it was boiled since it was completely filled with water when pressed. We also requested stir fried mixed vegetables. Instead we received a bowl of boiled bok choy with no other vegetables included and a bowl of very dry white rice that didn't seem to be freshly made. Our meal was so bad we went to another restaurant right after, since the food was not edible and not tasty as one would expect from a Chinese restaurant. I was very disappointed, Chinese food is my second favorite cuisine. I will never visit Jin Ding again :( The picture attached is the receipt showing how much we paid for that horrible meal. While the staff was friendly and attentive, the food left much to be desired, especially given the very high prices. The Kung Pao chicken was disappointingly fatty and overly salty, and the BBQ ribs were inconsistent in size with a watery, runny sauce. The stuffed eggplant had an unchewable skin, making it unpleasant to eat. The soup dumplings were pretty good but varied in size. The Shrimp Spring Rolls (4 Skinny Cigar-like rolls to an order) are a crispy delight, SOOO Delish. The hot & sour soup is veggie good. The pièces de résistance, the highly anticipated entrées, szechuan sesame chicken & General Tso's shrimp (request crispy for both) were ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL; SOOO INCREDIBLY GOOD, we were BLOWN AWAY!!! For dessert we had a fabulous slice of lemon blueberry?? cheesecake & a VERY REFRESHING guava?? yogurty/sorbet?? concoction in a champagne flute. **This review is just for Dim Sum** Having lived in Center City for many years in Old City I like to fancy myself a good judge of decent dim sum. It would even be fair to say I am a bit of a snob on Chinese food in that I assume Center City is the only place one can get proper Chinese food or certainly Dim Sum. Since moving to the Main Line suburbs years ago I cannot tell you how many times people referred us to "great" Chinese places only to have us questioning how they could have thought "this" was great. And while places like Ocean Harbor and Nom Wah in Center City will always be worth the drive I have to say that Jing Ding is absolutely outstanding for Dim Sum. We were told by friends to check it out and we're happily surprised at how delicious the food was. The restaurant is often quiet when we are there which makes sense as when we go for Dim Sum we often look to arrive at opening. The restaurant employs a made to order approach rather than cart service. The food comes out piping hot and quickly so no complaints at all. The service is quick and efficient. The people who run it also are quiet and friendly and always very accommodating. I love Dim Sum but I am not Chinese but all of the traditional Dim Sum dishes I have seen through the years seem to be represented and to my taste having eaten at many places is on point. Sui Mah Is my favorite and theirs is outstanding. Soup Dumplings are great. Pork Buns are pillowy and freah and as styles come out hot! Their rice rolls are very good, the spring rolls are delicate and not greasy. Overall 5 stars and I am starting to enjoy being able to drive 10 minutes to their place, enjoy the huge free parking lot and good quiet service over fighting traffic to the city and dealing with the parking, noise etc that comes with downtown Philly. Edit: i've been up all night with food poisoning. I'd strongly suggest not eating here. It's pretty bad compared to other local options (Sang Kee in particular). Priced at the high end with nothing to show for it. Got the duck with bao, green beans and the lotus leaf rice balls. All of them were way better at Sang Kee... The duck had no seasoning at all, and it made the duck pretty nasty. If you drench it in sauce and eat it with the baos it is edible- if not, it's damn nasty. The green beans with pork were the highlight, although they weren't good. The pork, again, lacks seasoning. It was also way overcooked and dry as can be. The lotus leaf rice balls were nasty as hell. The pork in them, to no surprise, was WAY overcooked and was way too chewy. Tasted old, too. The rice itself tasted pretty bland. The nail in the coffin was that 20 minutes after I finished eating, I felt an insane amount of nausea. Luckily didn't blow, but food that makes me feel sick is a HUGE no-go for me. No curbside pickup, which is a huge negative during covid. Plenty if parking, though. Would not return- there are plenty of options nearby. Go to Sang Kee instead for some Gucci priced Chinese food within a few minutes from here. Also, check their healthscore/ inspection report. The fact that they haven't been open for even a month and they have that many violations makes me queesy, and could be why I feel sick after eating their food. Almost didn't try it after reading it, but from now on i'm not going to support places that violate health codes so blatantly. read more

We went on Father's Day, and the special was lobster. My son ordered Szechuan beef, my wife got the lemon chicken and I got the lobster. The dumpling apps were great, my son got his entree, 10 minutes later my wife's entree came and 10 minutes after that I got the lobster. My son was done when I got my meal. Service was great but the timing was poor for the cost of the dinner. No comp was offered. The beef and lobster were delicious, but the lemon chicken was poor. I wanted to go here for so long, I was told I pick for Father's Day, and I was disappointed. I never give a bad review but for the price, the timing and taste did not meet expectations. read more

Jin Ding is offering delivery during Covid-19, however, it is a struggle to pick-up safely. Today, I was waiting next to a small partition. at about 2 feet was a crowded bar where people were not wearing masks. I would not recommend pick-up for people who have not received their vaccination yet. Finally, we did takeout on a recommendation from a coworker. We got shrimp Shui Mai, shui mai, sticky rice, spring rolls, char sui bo, shrimp Dumplings, dry beef chow fun and soup dumplings. Since we missed Chinese New Year we were craving dim sum. It was the best dim sum in the burbs. We had some favorites and some misses. Our favorite was the shrimp shui mai with a lot of fresh shrimp. I could order it over and over again. Our least favorite was the soup dumplings ( the skin was too thick and very little soup, it wasn't a surprising burst of favor) and the dry beef chow fun. I would prefer more noodles and more favor. But in all I would return and definitely try other things on the menu. read more

Coming from California, I'm always on the search for great dim sum and got a flyer in the mail for some coupons for a new Chinese restaurant that opened 15 mins away from us! Of course my dim sum cravings always happen on the weekends, so I ordered a huge dim sum order with chicken feet ($5), crystal shrimp ($7), sticky rice lotus ($6), shao mai ($5.50), shrimp rice rolls ($7), fried dough stuck rice rolls ($6), pan fried chives dumpling ($6), roast pork bun ($5) and 2 entrees of salt and pepper squid ($15.95) and wet beef chow fun subbed with pork instead ($13.95) after 10% off the bill was $73.83 for a hefty amount of food! Unfortunately they forgot the rice for our squid.. but I guess it's better I have less carbs haha. Everything tastes delicious and very authentic, the receipt for the back was all in Chinese just like many of the upscale Chinese restaurants I've been to. The interior is also very upscale and classy, definitely a place I would consider taking my immigrant Chinese parents to. Lots of parking and good location, can't miss it. read more

This is in the building that Yangming was at. We had several dishes for takeout tonight. We had chicken dumplings, house special fried rice, and salt and pepper squid. They have a really nice online ordering system with pictures :-). They have a very extensive Chinese restaurant menu. With all the traditional as well as some more unique dishes. The food was at the level I would expect from being in the same building as Yangming :-) This is another top notch restaurant to add to the take-out rotation. read more

This is authentic Chinese in the sub urbs! No need to get stuck in traffic going to Philadelphia to get dim sum. There was plenty of parking and room for plenty of people in this restaurant. There is a nice bar inside as well. The most phenomenal part was the authentic dim sum. The server was extremely pleasant, and if you know Chinese food then you can also special order with them to make it the way it is meant to be eaten. If there is something you want that is not on the menu, they are open to call ahead, so they can plan in advance to serve it when you come in. read more

I was very disappointed with my visit tonight to Jin Ding. The house pinot grigio really tasted like it was watered down, the pork pan fried dumplings had a dough that seemed 3 times as thick as anywhere I have ever been, and the chicken with cashews had just a few cashews and was made with dark meat chicken bits even though I was assured it was to be white meat when I ordered it. It also included a plate full of very large chunks of celery, and a few thin pieces of carrots with a few water chestnuts, and a sauce too heavy on hoisin. Our group of 4 had asked for separate checks, which they said was no problem - we were the only people there after an early afternoon movie - but it took 3 tries to get several of the checks to correctly list the orders. This spot recently opened and has takeout and dine in services. I got the pan fried rice cakes, which were oily and came with ground beef or pork pieces even though it didn't say so on the menu. I would prefer more vegetables and a lot less oil. I will say that the prices were fairly reasonable especially given the portions.
