Jin sushi.. your food and waited service, has absolutely hit it out of the box. BUT please read the whole review.. We shared the garlic edamame which was my absolute favorite and the best edamame I had ever tasted whatever seasonings with the generous amount of garlic was just heavenly. If you like edamame you should love this one you won't be disappointed. I could literally have a bowl of this and a couple of Stella Artois for dinner and have the best night ever. We also shared the bulgogi bento box as well as two rolls,one being the lobster roll the other one being a spicy flaming roll which of course I forgot the name of but either way the ingredients were very fresh the roles were both full of ingredients and everything in the Bento Box, the fried rice the salad & the Bulgogi was tender, all were all tasty and reminiscent of a another restaurant in Bakersfield that is usually my Bento Box go-to. JIn Sushi could absolutely be my most favorite sushi place in Bakersfield if they fix a couple of little things It's only two problems I had with this place one was the seating issue, that they created when we first walked in I had a reservation and waited 25 minutes to be seated I only knew it was an issue because I talked to the lady behind me who had a appointment 15 minutes after mine with three friends and was seated before me, the whole process seemed unorganized and the young lady running it seem to be stressed trying to get it right. The next issue was me reading the health score violations during my extra 25 minute wait and trying to avoid any of the foods that were listed. Something I probably wouldn't have seen if I didn't have to wait 25 mins. after my reservation well researching any complaints about wait times. If management gets the seating issue corrected,and place up front who will stay up front and take command of the seating, keeping track of who comes in with reservations I think this would have been a overall better experience. However we will definitely try again. read more

We were so happy we got to try Jin Sushi! We went in on a Friday night and only waited like 20 minutes for a table - which was not that bad for as busy as this place was! We were sat and they took our drink order and brought out the drinks (hot tea was yummy). The server was awesome with helping us with our questions and balancing all their other tables. We put in the order and the food was delivered so fast! It was all so so good and you could tell it was so so fresh. I was very happy to be able to try this place and we've even ordered in from them too, my husband likes them so much. Can't wait to be back to try some more! read more

I have been a regular customer to Jin's Southwest location. I decided to check out their downtown location for lunch. This place is much bigger, dark tone, black wall, black table, black chairs, with nice accents. I was greeted right away, and the lunch was on the table before I could blink. I ordered the mango roll and volcano roll. The mango roll with sweet with sweet sauce, a very nice clean and fruity surprise. The volcano roll turn out to be a show stopper. They set the whole thing on fire, and you eat when the fire die out. When I opened the foil, a delicious and slightly spicy aroma hit me in the face. The roll was warm and delicious from the fire. I am very impressed with both rolls. I need to go back and try the dinner menu soon. read more

We headed to Jin to celebrate our anniversary. Arriving on a Wednesday night, there were several other patrons there but we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. The menu has plenty of options for every palate. The portions were good size, flavor was good and everything tasted fresh and we left with full bellies. I came on a Friday evening with my partner for dinner before the Bill Burr comedy show. It was very crowded and the servers were super busy. The inside was very lively and festive with all the decorations. We were seated after 20-30 minutes. We ordered the volcano, blazing dragon, toro tuna, blue fin tuna, and regular tuna nigiri. This is a go to for sushi whenever I'm downtown! The service was helpful and accommodating. We sat in their outdoor dining and it was quite enjoyable. Something to keep in mind is that it is in the middle of downtown so people will be walking by you. I enjoy their indoor seating as well but the weather was extra nice on this day. I came on a Saturday at noon, the place wasn't too busy. It had a nice classic dark ambiance you'd expect from a sushi bar. I am a regular here, and happy hour Monday-Friday is definitely the time to try it out. Service is always fast and the girls are all so friendly, I love sitting outside and they have no problem setting it up for me every time. It can get a little busy sometimes but they are so fast that you are seated and food comes out quick. I haven't had anything I don't like here honestly. I definitely have to come for dinner and try out a boujier roll lol! Food is good. Service is lacking/odd. It's the only sushi place I've ever been to where you have to ask for wasabi and ginger. And of you want a little bowl to mix wasabi and soy sauce, you often have to ask for that too. Service was consistently attentive without being overbearing. I never had to wait long for anything, and everything moved at a good pace. The food overall was solid. The dragon roll had a nice balance to it, and the eel was soft without feeling heavy. The shumai had a pleasant sweetness that worked well with the sauce it came with. My husband and I joined some friends to eat dinner at Jin prior to a comedy show at the Fox. We had reservations and were seated promptly upon our arrival. We were seated near the entrance but none of us felt disrupted by customers coming and going. The server was courteous and friendly and asked to take our drink order right away. The server returned a short time later and we all ordered our dinner items. For appetizers we ordered the spicy garlic edamame and regular edamame. Both tasted like you would expect, but I was slightly disappointed my spicy garlic edamame came out cold. As for our main course, I ordered a spicy rainbow roll and yellowtail roll (add jalapenos). Both tasted fresh but I think I enjoyed the simplicity of the yellowtail with a slice of jalapeno on each piece. Such a great bite. My husband ordered a cucumber roll and avocado roll. He was quite pleased with the amount of avocado they put into his roll. Our group appeared to enjoy their food as well. Overall we had a nice, albeit, quick dinner before a show. This place really let me down after having higher expectations. Service was ok. Our waitress looked tired and didn't really come check on us. Food was awful. We ordered 3 rolls and steak fried rice. Fried rice had NO streak. Pieces were so small it looked like tiny pieces of rice. Rice was 1/10. Next my roll.... I ordered under the baked section a volcano roll. My roll was disgusting and completely raw !! The other rolls tasted ok but can tell ingredients were not fresh. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone or go back myself. I LOVE Jin Sushi. I come often to both locations. I'm talking like a few times a month. The reason why I am giving them a one star is for the reason my fiancé and I were treated this past Friday. We got there at 9:15 and they close at 10 and were refusing to let us dine in and only do take out. I had to ask nicely if they could please let us sit and finally they let us sit. Our waitress, I didn't get her name but has black hair was very rude to us. She would set the food down and was not friendly. I'm not sure what has happened but the quality of the sushi here isn't what it used to be. It's being removed from my list of go-to sushi places. We got three rolls: Dragon, Las Vegas and shrimp crunch. They looked good but tasted really fishy and didn't seem to be made properly. I even had to discreetly spit out a bite of one and I never do that. They kept falling apart. Also my husband got the seafood soup and he said it was just okay. I'm wondering if the cost of seafood has gone up and they have lowered their quality to compensate. The place is still pretty and the staff was friendly enough.
