I love the ambiance!! Beautiful open space with huge windows overlooking the streets of San Francisco. I always saw wedding dresses in the window from the street, and I wondered how the store itself looked from the inside. Now I know! The staff is very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was so looking forward to my appointment at Jin Wang. I think for a different kind of bride this would be an amazing place. If you're looking for high-end designers and a lovely atmosphere, Jin Wang does that very well. It wasn't great for me, and I partly wish I had just ended it early when I realized that. When I initially filled out my form I mentioned that my budget cap was $4,000 for my dress with an additional alterations budget. Upon arrival I noticed they had written my budget down as $6,000 which was really off putting. I asked about it and made the change on the form, the stylist told me there would be less options. At that point I wish she had told me there'd be no options so we could have saved both of our time. I tried on a few dresses but didn't really like anything, and there was really not much in my budget range. It was a really awkward experience, I think we both knew it wouldn't work. I do appreciate the safety precautions that they took. My temperature was taken upon arrival, we all worse masks the entire time, and there was sanitizer available. read more

I recently married at the Claremont Club & Spa this past April 28th. My final purchase was the Naeem Khan Marseille dress at the Jin Wang bridal salon. There were however two other beautiful gowns I wanted to purchase at Jin Wang as well! Jin has the most exquisite taste. I couldn't believe the selection available of beautiful gowns. Both Jin's gowns and her store are elegant. The location in Twin Peaks is beautiful with easy to find parking, and Jin herself and her team draw you in with their expertise. My over all experience at Jin Wang was special. Every bride should feel this way! At every appointment I had, I was the only customer and Jin and her team spent a great deal of time with me. I'll forever be grateful for Jin. Prior to Jin Wang, I had visited both Marina Morrison and Vera Wang. Both left me underwhelmed based on dress selection, fitting technique and atmosphere. Jin Wang is ultimately where I decided I found my wedding dress! Unfortunately, wedding dress shopping was one of the most stressful and difficult decisions of wedding planning -- I even went down to Los Angeles to visit some of the ateliers, but ultimately the majority of the dress really seemed like just white dresses or exaggerated prom dresses. I didn't feel like I found the "one" at any of these stores, until I went to Jin Wang. It was one of the few places that I hadn't visited in San Francisco that stocked some of the designers I was interested in. The experience was extremely calming, and the selection of dresses was curated with an eye for designs that were flattering and showstoppers. I also got my alterations done in house, and my bridesmaids and guests loved the bustle (really unique and definitely modern). WOW! Where do i even begin? This review is so past due! I bought my dress from one of Jin Wang's sample dress sale's for my wedding last August and it was the most pleasant experience. Jin Wang was my first and only stop for looking my wedding dress. We found the most BEAUTIFUL dress at such a great affordable cost for a designer dress. She really went over and beyond for me, my mom and my bridal party at all of our fittings. I really looked forward to my fittings with her. I definitely challenged her with losing 15-20 lbs in just a few months and she accommodated me by taking the dress in right before the wedding and it fit like a glove. Just wow. I must have gone to 10 different wedding dress boutiques throughout the Bay Area and tried on 30+ dresses before coming here and finding the dress of my dreams. I was seriously about to give up and just settle on something that "worked." I'm so glad I didn't!! Pros: 1. The boutique is absolutely gorgeous and the collections are stunning. 2. You don't feel rushed and there aren't other brides-to-be trying on next to you or even in the same space (this may sound silly, but having a private experience feels more special and less like you are just another bride being hurried out the door or pushed into a fast sale). 3. The owner is absolutely amazing. She gave me great advice about which style of dress is best for my body type, made me feel really comfortable, and knows how to ensure the dress fits perfectly. (All of the assistants are also amazing and helpful, too.) 4. It was so convenient having the salon do all of the fitting and tailoring. I was really concerned about buying an expensive dress and then gambling on finding a tailor elsewhere who would make sure it was perfect/didn't mess it up. Also, the tailors who work with this salon are amazing. Their attention to detail is insane; I feel like I am wearing a gown they made for my body (note that I have a disproportionate body type - so I am not someone that can wear anything off the rack). Cons: None. Seriously. Bottom line: if what you wear on your wedding day is even a medium priority and/or you want the experience of finding and fitting your dress to be special, this is the place to come. I did not buy my dress here so I can't speak to the full experience, but I was blown away at the level of service and wonderfully classy ambiance while taking a friend dress shopping. Unfortunately my experience with Jin Wang was nowhere near what I had hoped or expected. At my final fitting I was charged an additional $2k in alteration costs - an amount that had not been flagged in advance. Regardless, I paid the amount. At the final fitting the dress fit fine. Jin suggested to make one 'minor' change (to close the holes under the arms so that the top of the dress would be as fitted as the sample dress). This sounded fine and Jin said that I could pick up the dress the next week. As I was flying home to Ireland for my wedding, the dress would be wrapped up and prepared for me to take on a plane. I was told not to try the dress again in fear that I may dirty it. When I took the dress to Ireland I decided to try it on with my mom the day before my wedding and thankfully I did! Because Jin has closed the arm holes in the dress, it significantly tightened the top half of the dress so much that it no longer closed up at the back. The day before the wedding - which was meant to be spent relaxing with family that I hadn't seen in a year, was now filled with trying to find someone who would do last minute alterations. I finally found someone and the dress was ok. (Not perfect but ok) I contacted Jin after the wedding to let her know. She wanted me to bring the dress in for her to take a look at it. As I had flown to Italy straight from my honeymoon and obviously didn't plan on needing my dress again, I left the dress at home in Ireland. Regardless, even if I did have my dress, after spending 3 weeks in Italy, I am obviously not the same size that I was at my wedding! I also had the dress fixed in Ireland so she isn't going to be able to see what the issue was before anyway. Jin also told me that it could have been due to weight gain - it wasn't as I consistently lost weight and was the lightest I'd ever been on my wedding day. (She since hasn't replied to this response.) After spending $2,300 in alterations, the dress should not have left her store being anything other than perfect. Given her experience, I'm also shocked that she wasn't aware of how much that final alteration would affect the fit of the entire dress to the point that it almost ruined my wedding day - if I had not tried it on in advance. Given the above, along with not being told about the $2k alteration cost in advance, and dealing with Jin on this issue since, I can honestly say that purchasing from here was my only one wedding regret. read more

I am in the process of dress shopping. I came here because I remembered coming here years ago when my friend said "YES" to the dress. When I came years ago, Jin actually personally helped us. I remember that she was really nice, helpful, and supportive. This was my first appointment here with Lily and Ping. They were the ones who helped me, and they were really nice. They didn't hesitate to pull down the dresses I wanted to try on. They let me try on the dresses that I picked out. However, what they failed to do... was ask me what my budget was. I wasn't too worried about it walking in because I had read that most dresses were from $3-5K. My friend's dress was a custom dress that she paid $5K for. Given, it was 5 years ago. With inflation, I am sure that same dress would probably cost more today. My top 2 dress picks were NOT by Jin Wang. They were by Victor Harper. Perhaps they assumed that I was familiar with all the designers and wedding dresses? Unfortunately, I am actually not that bride who has planned everything out and done a ton of research on dresses and all the designers. I basically went with my gut and what my eye was attracted to. After trying on the dresses and falling in love... My first choice costs almost $12K! It was absolutely gorgeous and stunning! If you have that kind of cash to spend, you should totally get it. It's beautiful. My second choice was almost $8K. My last choice was a mermaid style Jin Wang dress. It was pretty simple, and it was flattering. I liked that they were willing to work with me on the different colors, styles, and alterations. However, alterations are on average, an additional $500-700! What I didn't like is the fact that I couldn't take any photographs. Taking photographs help me decide or at least narrow down my selections. Photographs should be available, especially if you were going to send that much money for it. They only allow photography at the time of purchase. For me, that time frame would be too late. When brides try on a ton of dresses, they often forget the fit, look, etc. It just helps to be able to make those types of comparisons. read more

I had a great experience with Jin and her team. They were always very personable to me and my family/friends when we came for a first trial, then I came back just to try that one dress I had narrowed it down to, then I came back for my fittings. Jin did a few specific alterations to my dress and it looked great and as I had envisioned, the day of. I also loved the Jin was the designer of my dress and was there for every single one of my fittings. She's very friendly and really listened. I didn't feel rushed or that she was trying to upcharge me for random things. She and her team also remembered me, when I called, and when I came back for my fittings, which was nice and professional. Jin creates beautiful designs herself, but also has a lot of great designers in her store to choose from. Update a few months after my wedding. I wanted to sell my dress after the wedding so that another girl could enjoy it and it wouldn't sit in a closet for 30 years...or forever. I called Jin's shop for details I had to post about the dress. She ended up doing a one off trial with me and sold my dress for me to another girl who really wanted it but couldn't afford the full price. My dress was in great condition and I had it professionally cleaned. Made me really happy that someone else got to have it. And I got a lot of money back too! They have am amazing selection here at Jin Wang, including her own originals. Jin herself helped us with my friend's fitting. She was very patient with us sipping our champagne and throwing out immediate "No!" "Wrong" "not it" to the poor bride-to-be. They were great at picking dresses that suited the tear sheets brought in, and that fit with the bride's personal style. Prices were fair, but did range to the super high end. When you make an appointment here you are treated to a large area with a table and chairs and private changing room for the bride. Very classy, and not at all fighting over the pedestal at david's bridal. Our dear little bride ended up falling for an amazing Jenny Packham dress, and upon asking the price, asked whether she could get a deal on alterations. We all had a good laugh. One of our bridesmaids piped up "Look at her haggling on the price, it's the Korean in her!" Jin Wang laughed, gave my friend a great deal as long as she purchased the dress same day, and then said "I'm Korean." Awesome.
