Jinmi is officially one of our absolute favorite Korean restaurants. This is where we would bring friends to brag about how elegant, beautiful, and amazingly delicious. This was our third visit and we were just as impressed as before. Service was professional, friendly, very friendly. Their service standard is a cut above. I love interacting with everyone of them. It is so evident that they take pride in their work and the products they offer. It is such a pleasant dining experience with this crew. This time, the menu has slightly changed so we tried a few new items. We had the lunch special with soy-marinated salmon dish set, galbi, spicy marinated crab, and unique desserts. Oh my, they were all amazing. The marinated salmon dish was perfectly flavored and delicately balanced. The galbi? It melted in our mouths and it was presented on a Korean traditional ceramic bowl with charcoals so keep it warm. It was an amazing dish. Their specialty marinated crab was great as expected. And we tried chestnut tiramisu and some Korean jellies. Loved them all. We are always planning our next trip to Vancouver to visit Jinmi again.

Stumbled across Jinmi on our first day in Vancouver and wow... what a find. Korean soul food in the best way possible. The service was fantastic and our server was so kind, offering recommendations and explaining how some of the dishes are traditionally eaten in Korea. We had to try the marinated raw crab since it's their specialty and I've honestly never tasted anything quite like it before. That said, my husband and I both agreed the galbi was our favorite bite of the night. So flavorful and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend if you're in Vancouver, you won't leave disappointed.

Jinmi was such a pleasant surprise. This might by one of the best Korean restaurants Ive been to and I've lived in Los Angeles for over 7 years. I came in without a reservation but luckily there was availability. We were seated near the kitchen where you could see the food coming out. The restaurant itself isnt too big or too small and had a very modern feel to it. As for the food, the Korean fried chicken was made to perfection and was perfectly balanced in terms flavor. The soy marinated salmon is the first time Ive had this flavor on fish instead of crab and I think it taste just as good to the point where I would probably order the salmon more than I would order crab. The soy marinated seafood is a must try. The oyster pancake had tons of oysters on it and tasted great too. The desserts are a must and they were all good as well. Anyone in Vancouver needs to give Jimni a shot! I definitely will be back.

We had such a great experience at Jinmi Korean Restaurant! The food was not only absolutely delicious but also beautifully presented--every dish looked like a work of art. You can really tell they put care into both taste and presentation. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you're looking for amazing Korean food and great service! Ambiance is a 10, cozy and relaxing!

Great food, service, and ambiance. Go for lunch and get one of the plates. So good and tasty. Prices may seem high but its reasonable being in downtown Vancouver. Check it out.

A surprise find near Costco! Attracted by pictures of crabs on its website, we came for a late lunch on a Tuesday. The decor was simple, classic. It was close to 2pm so there only two groups of customers at the restaurant. We ordered a spicy and a non-spicy version of the signature crab dinner set, the salmon lunch set and the oyster pancake. To complement the crab, we also ordered the locally made rice wine. First of all, the spread of complements was not as extensive as other Korean restaurants but they were adequate and nicely presented. Each meal comes with a seaweed soup. For the salmon lunch, it was kinda like bibimbap. The salmon was of great quality. The crab bapsang was a dish I have not had previously so it was quite an eye opener. The crab came directly from Korea. The texture was super creamy. This is similar to the Chinese version but in a larger size. The spicy version was so good that I finished all my rich soaking up every bid of juice and gochujang. The rice wine was a nice pairing. The fact that it was made in Vancouver made it so special. Service was really good - maybe we were the only customers. Price point was really reasonable. Definitely on my recommend list.

Best raw marinated crab on the west coast! They fly the crab in from South Korea. The crab is so succulent and fatty - get the one with the uni! It's so delicious and fresh. Highly recommend the beef tartare as well - it's so flavorful especially with the pear. This is one of my favorite steaks because it's not overly fatty, but it is very juicy. Service is super quick and friendly! I can't wait to come back here next Vancouver trip.

Waiting time: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 ‍Service: 3/5 Taste: 4/5 Pricing: 2.5/5 Overall: We came here to celebrate a birthday with a group of 3 people. Because we made reservations, there was no wait. It was a very clean and tidy space with the servers creating a warm atmosphere. We've been to their other location (now closed) before for their marinated crab. So we knew that we were going to get the same set again. This time, we ordered extra dishes and the oyster omelette would be the stand out because do you see how many oysters are on there?! The marinated crab set is good as always. The only downside of this place is that it can be a bit pricey. We'd only come here for special occasions. Side note, because it was around kimchi day in Korea, they actually made 100 individual batches of kimchi for their customers! Each of us got one container and it was really tasty!

There wasn't any taste of fishiness from the crab and it had a nice jelly texture. I usually eat smoked crab or singapore style boiled crab, so this is a new experience. While crab meat is good, I think it lacks the umami flavor from the soy. My favorite part of the meal is the homemade kimchi. It wasn't sour at all and had a nice kick of spiciness. The soup was good as well, but I think I should have drank the soup first because it cooled down while I was eating the crab.

When researching on what to eat in Vancouver, i found this place, and my wife instantly wanted to come here. She loves soy marinated raw crab, so I booked us a reservation. Luckily we did because the day we showed up, it was packed! A person in front of us didn't have reservations, and the front had to turn her away since the wait was over 1 hour. The place was very busy (they were serving 1 really large party), so the service was a bit off. They brought wrong dishes to the wrong tables, and the servers didn't appear to communicate well with each other. After things seem to settle down, they were able to take our order and serve us our food. The marinated crabs are the stars of the show. If you like it spicy, then get the spicy (but be warned...it brings serious heat). It was too spicy for me, so I ate most of the soy marinated, which was the best I've had. Normally, I don't like eating it because it's usually salty when i tried it. However, this time around the soy sauce was not salty. You can really taste the ocean , and the crab eggs/innards really mixed well with the rice. The dried seaweed that they give here is the best that I've ever had. If you like raw crabs, then I highly recommend this place.

Food: The crab was very good, great consistency and rich taste. Both the spicy and regular crabs were very good, and tasted different as well since the spicy sauce is so flavourful. They also paired very well with uni! I'd recommend the spicy one if you enjoy the classic gochujang spicy Korean flavour profile and want an additional kick, and the regular one if you're looking to taste the crab more. On top of that, the sides were very good too, the kimchi was spicy, flavourful, kicked a punch, and was overall well prepared and was a highlight for the sides. The portion was good too, it felt like enough food for me. Service: Great service, this was our first time trying this dish, and they explained everything well for us. They always refilled our tea and water without bothering us. Ambiance: This place was nice and quiet enough for intimate conversations, and a lot more lowkey than I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it. It was nice for a date night, but there are definitely places out there with more romantic ambiance. This felt a little more upscale-casual to me, maybe because the decor is quite grey. 4 stars! Loved the food, great service, good ambiance but could be better.

Service is attentive. Keep in mind that this restaurant specializes in raw crab. It does not offer a big variety of regular Korean staples. They introduce the dishes in depth and offer some upscale seaweed to eat the crab "brains". Also note that side dishes are not refillable. Their menu is specific that you have to order a combo in order to add on specific dishes. Prices are on the higher side. Ambiance is calm and relaxed.

    Soy marinated crab (deshelled)
    Natalie W.

Lovely atmosphere and service was good. Made a reservation for a Friday night dinner and it was quite busy. The reason for our visit was to try out the soy marinated crab. We ended up sharing the soy crab bansang and opted to have it deshelled. It came with 4 side dishes, seaweed soup, rice and gamtae (seaweed). The gamtae was interesting because I've never had natural seaweed like that. It paired well with the crab. I didn't feel like the flavour of the crab was very strong, but maybe it was because it was deshelled. Soy marinated salmon- loved the flavour of this and the salmon was fresh. Pork jowl bossam- I liked the variety of lettuce/greens to eat with the bossam-, however some of them weren't really the right shape to wrap the meat with. Otherwise the jowl was tender and tasty. Overall, the meal was satisfying. It was filling and the dishes were unique. I was happy that we were able to try the soy marinated crab. The interior of the restaurant is nice and I'd recommend this for a special occasion meal.

****Service Animal Discrimination Experience****…read more I'm writing to document a disappointing and unacceptable experience with Blue Water Cafe in Vancouver. Earlier today, we called ahead to request dining accommodations with my certified service dog, trained in the United States by an Assistance Dogs International (ADI)-accredited program -- a certification that is fully recognized under British Columbia's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act. Instead of courteously discussing the request or asking the legally permitted questions, the staff member immediately rejected our reservation, accused us of not having proper documentation, and refused to review or even allow us to present our credentials. This was done over the phone, without any attempt to understand the situation or follow BC's service animal regulations. Under BC law, restaurants must accommodate certified service dogs and may only ask: * whether the dog is required because of a disability, and * what task the dog is trained to perform. Blue Water Cafe did neither. Instead, we were dismissed, spoken to rudely, and denied access based on incorrect assumptions about service dog requirements in British Columbia. For a restaurant of this reputation, this level of misinformation and lack of courtesy is unacceptable. Service dog users deserve dignity, lawful treatment, and basic respect -- not snap judgments, false accusations, or barriers to dining. I hope management addresses this immediately through staff training on BC's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act and implements proper procedures so that other guests with disabilities are not subjected to the same treatment. MARY was very rude she had zero empathy and her tone was very obnoxious as well she had zero patience and her tone was not at all pleasing, she shouldn't be in customer service if she has no skill as to how to calm a situation, she has zero empathy towards us and didn't know how to talk in a manner that people would understand your situation, she just didn't seem to care. Why would someone want to work in a customer facing job if they have no patience to deal with customers. She was beyond rude , no words for Mary indeed! She passed me on to the manager , he was a guy, Kaden or sounds like that name, he was also not very helpful or didn't even try to make the situation a better one knowing it was my birthday, they both definitely have the most horrible customer service we've experienced so far , that day we were also driving back from the Four Seasons hotel in Whistler and they were such beyond lovely when it comes to going above and beyond! They definitely have the gold standard as to how people should be treated! This place is totally a downgrade from what we've experienced at the Four Seasons Hotel. Please don't assume on anyone's service dog. Please don't discriminate your tone towards anyone having a service dog and explaining it to the person properly showing empathy, it would have been a totally different experience and outcome when it comes to my review, because mental health is real.
