We came across this beautifully decorated and fun place in search of Vietnamese food while visiting Vancouver. The restaurant is really well organized and the staff is incredibly friendly. We were seated right away which is always nice. The waiter went over the menu and was very knowledgeable about every item on the menu. We ultimately decided to go with items from the house specials because why not? We got the Bun Bo Hue and Bo Ne. Both entree came out freshly prepared and very served in pretty good sized portions. The broth for the bun Bo hue was under seasoned for my preference so I adjusted with fish sauce and a little bit of lime. When paired with veggies, the soup definitely fills you up. The Bo Ne was sizzling as it came on a hot plate. Every bite was delicious when balanced with a little bit of everything that came on the plate. The price was a little steep for what we got but the experience with the staff, restaurant, and food was a good one.

It's been awhile since my last visit and tonight's dining is quite disappointing. We did not make reservation and we were asked to provide our name and phone number. The restaurant was quite empty at 5pm and not sure what's the purpose of getting this personal info. Our server is quite attentive however most of the other servers have a very stone face. The lady who cleaned up our table after meal looks very unfriendly. In terms of food, the crab soufflé noodles in tomato broth - noodles are quite soggy and we cannot identify any crab or crab taste in this dish. The grilled lemongrass platter - chicken is definitely overcooked as it's quite dry. Pork chop has half of them as fat and not eatable. Beef ribs are okay. Overall not a delightful dining experience. Given there are many Vietnamese restaurants in town, I found no reason to visit this restaurant again. Do not recommend.

One of the best Vietnamese food ive had. The dishes were fresh and flavorful with large portions. I love the mini shrimp pancakes with the sauce. Delicious!!!

This is listed as one of the top plates in Vancouver in the Georgia Strait. They take no reservations and the place is big and stretches for half a block. They have a covered patio and an open patio that stretches half way down the street. Our waitress was OSHA and very knowledgeable with suggestions. This is a Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered drinks and the chili wings with fish sauce. The first time I've seen wings stacked on a plate. They were good and tasty. They were on the smaller side than others I have seen and eaten. I had the BO LUC LAC. Very tasty and lots of pieces which they call shaken beef flat iron. Well presented. There were 2 pho hocar, beef, withe lots of noodles. I tried some and found the noodles were a bit over cooked. It was very good. Last we ordered GOI CUON- chicken rolls. Presented very differently. Fresh greens with a special sauce came with my meal. All in all very good. I have had better Ramon elsewhere. However this is a very trendy restaurant, a little pricey but worth it. There were really small peppers with the Shaken beef. Beware they are very hot.

This place is an upscale Michelin recommended Vietnamese restaurant. I didn't like their reservation option as you're forced to donate to a charity of their choice, instead of the money going towards your bill. The food was pretty solid, but pricey. If you're going for the ambiance and the elevated vibe, this is the place for you.

Wow, what a find! This place is a Michelin Guide honorable mention four years in a row, so we decided to visit it out for lunch. There is no parking lot, so you must find street parking in the neighborhood roads. Sometimes, there could be a line outside, but luckily on the day we went, we were seated right away. The service was fast and efficient, very professional. The server took the time to ask if we had questions about any of their dishes prior to ordering and solicited feedback afterwards. The inside is brightly lit and clean. We tried the softshell crab salad and the beef vermicelli. The salad was our favorite with its perfect blend of warm crab meat and cool, crunchy, pickled vegetables. We have not tasted something this good in a long time. The vermicelli noodle was also bold in flavor, but not at the same level as the crab salad. Not only do the entrees taste good, they are also beautifully presented. I highly recommend checking this place out.

These are what dreams are made of. The most elevated Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of Main Street. A true Vancouver treasure. They said it would be hard to get a table at lunch on a busy Saturday but we got in a few short minutes after arriving. Firstly, the menu has several alternatives available. You can order vegan, vegetarian or meat options. The choices are endless. Very pleasant ambiance and great service. The food is excellent!

Even to go this vermicelli bowl is special!

The ambiance and food are amazing at Anh and Chi! We ordered and really enjoyed the delicious Vermicelli bowl and egg rolls, the meat was delicious, portions huge and the salad very fresh and full of incredible flavor and veggies. Unfortunately, after waiting to be seated for 15 minutes we discovered they only allow service dogs in their gorgeous patios that wrap around the restaurant and I had my mom and her dogs also with me, so we took our food to go but the bar where I ordered and got to see the restaurant from was gorgeous and most the staff was very helpful and nice. I'd definitely get food to go from here again soon!

    Bun Bo Hue

Let me start by saying this: I had one of the best bites of food in my entire life at a dinky Bun Bo Hue food stall in Ho Chi Minh City, and years later, I am still chasing that high. So perhaps unfairly, Anh and Chi (and every BBH-offering Vietnamese restaurant I've been to since that fateful day) had a very high bar to clear. That being said...it unfortunately did not clear that bar--BUT it was delicious. The broth was a touch sweeter than I was expecting, and neither lemongrassy nor spicy enough. The pork hock hardly had any meat on it, it wasn't the typical cut of beef you'd find in BBH, and there was no pork blood at all. It was served with sprouts and lettuce rather than the traditional banana flower. All of this being said, it was such a tasty bowl of noodle soup. I cannot stress enough how delicious it was, and how delighted I would've been had I not been expecting an authentic bowl of bun bo hue. I was still delighted! The cha lua was super tasty and the beef was tender. The noodles cooked to perfection. A yummy bite with every spoonful (but more on spoons later). My husband had the Bun Rieu Cua and also found it to be very yummy. The broth was really crabby and thick (in a good way), packing tons of flavor into each bite. He did expect there to be more actual crab meat in it, as there was just one tiny little crab claw (which, to be fair, he said tasted incredible). Overall though, he really liked it. We started with the soft shell crab salad, and honestly that was the dish that impressed me most here. The crab was crispy and delicious, and paired so well with the banana flower and pickled veg. I especially loved that it came with actual rau ram (Vietnamese mint) rather than standard English mint. It made the dish! The fish sauce dressing was potent and spot on. I would happily eat this dish every day for the rest of my life. I had the pandan tea and found it to be lacking in pandan flavor, it was more of just a standard green tea. My husband had the lime leaf soda and loved it. The service was quick and friendly, and we really enjoyed how lush and calm the patio was where we dined. Now here is my admittedly picky and specific complaint. The soup spoons. They were not ideal for a noodle soup; they were not big or deep enough with defined walls to keep in broth + noodles + toppings. It made eating difficult and honestly did detract from the experience. Again, I know this is a very specific thing to point out, but I feel very passionately about respecting soups and noodle soups with the tools needed to consume them so that you get a perfect bite every time. It felt very "style over substance" and like vibes/aesthetics were much more important than the actual eating experience. With that, I will get off of my soap box.

Love a good Bib Gourmand meal. The ambiance, service, and plating all elevate familiar Vietnamese classics into something a little more refined. Food: -Cánh Gà (Chicken Wings): I wish the wings had been a bit crispier, but the sauce was flavorful and the pickled carrot and daikon on the side were a nice touch. -Bún Thịt Nướng Chả Giò Tôm (Signature Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Pork): The grilled pork was delicious and well-seasoned. I did find the egg rolls a little lacking in flavor, but overall it's a solid vermicelli bowl and always a comforting choice. -Bò Lúc Lắc (Grass-Fed Shaken Beef): My favorite dish of the night. The beef was beautifully cooked, tender, and flavorful. The Vietnamese vinaigrette salad on the side complemented it perfectly. I could eat that salad every day. -Cá Kho Tộ (Caramelized Sablefish): The fish had a slightly fishy taste for my liking. Arrived about 15 minutes before opening on a rainy Tuesday evening and was the fourth group in line. We were seated right when they opened. Nice date night spot!

Overall, the meal was great - flavorful dishes, Well presented and the service was on point. I would say though that the chicken wings were a letdown. They were overcooked, dry and came in such small pieces that all you could really started were bones not enough meat on them. Everything else on the menu hit the mark, but the wings need some serious attention.

Food This was our second time visiting Anh and Chi, and it remains one of my absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. The first time we came, we waited almost two hours for a table, but it was so worth it that we promised we'd return. This time, we arrived later in the day and tried their Happy Hour menu instead of our usual large platter with shrimp and spring rolls (which was phenomenal last time). Out of everything we ordered, the AAA Beef Skewer was the star: tender, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. I'd come back just for that dish alone. The chicken skin skewer was tasty but a bit heavy after a few bites, and the shiitake mushroom skewer was good but small for the price. The spring rolls had a special touch with a Vietnamese cracker inside, which made them unique, though still a bit pricey at $8 each, even during Happy Hour. The shrimp skewer was decent, but the beef definitely stood out as the highlight. Next time, I'll return for their pho, which I remember being absolutely incredible, rich, balanced, and deeply comforting. Service The service at Anh and Chi is consistently great warm, efficient, and attentive without being intrusive. Despite coming without a reservation, we were seated faster than expected, which felt like a stroke of luck. The staff are polite, knowledgeable, and make you feel genuinely welcome. Atmosphere The restaurant is gorgeous inside, modern yet cozy, with natural wood tones, greenery, and delicate, almost vintage-inspired tiles that add to the charm. It's the kind of place that feels equally perfect for a casual dinner, a date night, or a small celebration. The atmosphere has a relaxed energy, complemented by thoughtful design details that make it easy to enjoy your meal and linger a little longer. Overall Experience Anh and Chi continues to live up to its reputation for delivering high-quality Vietnamese cuisine with a modern twist. While the Happy Hour menu had a few small misses, the flavors, presentation, and service make this restaurant one of the best dining experiences in Vancouver. I'll definitely be back again soon especially for that unforgettable beef skewer and their pho.

Service was really good and attentive. The food was really good. We ordered so many dishes just to try and all of it was really tasty. We did have a mishap w the mango salad with hair in it (2xs) but I don't want to hinder my review on that. They were very accommodating and apologetic. All in all, great place and I'd highly recommend to visit!

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

Didn't taste very fresh and the orange vinaigrette sauce didn't do anything to help it. The jasmine rice balls were an interesting touch. Wouldn't recommend Shishitos and cauliflower ($14) - the cauliflower florets were nice but the shishitos were lacking that snap you get (it was a bit soggy). Wouldn't recommend Steamed Bao bun with butter prawn masala ($21) - this was one of the highlights of the night. The butter masala went so well with the Bao bun and it soaked up that sauce perfectly. Loved the snap from the shrimp but wish there was more of it dispersed throughout the dish. Definitely get this dish Crab satay ($19) - this dish was weird... The crab was misled by the flavour of the peanut sauce and it just didn't work well together as a dish. Each component was fine on its own but nothing worked together. The cabbage salad felt like just an afterthough. Would not recommend. Sweet and sour pork belly ($16) - this dish was also interesting - it felt more like just a crispy pork belly. That's it. The sweet and sour sauce felt non- existent. There needed to be another punch in this dish to make it more complete. Wouldn't recommend Sea bass ($37) - this dish was great. Loved the texture of the sea bass. The potato gnocchi was a nice touch and that Goan curry sauce went really well with everything. Wouldn't order again Beef Kad Pra kao ($29) - this was another miss. The beef wasnt chewy but it lacked flavour. It needed more basil in it to bring out the flavour. Nothing about this dish impressed. Wouldn't order again Dubai chocolate bar ($17) - absolutely delicious. Loved the crispness of the chocolate crumb offset by the softness of the dense pistachio creme and the chocolate ganache. The little bits of the rose petals gave it that essence that it needed. It wasn't overly sweet. Would get this again Overall quite a few missed and some great dishes. The serving sizes are appropriate for the price. The service was great and not overbearing. Definitely try the steamed bun, the sea bass and the Dubai chocolate bar. My biggest issue with the dishes were that the garnished were almost the same for every dish. I understand it's for the pop of colour but it was so repetitive and didn't add any value to the fish other than the pop of colour (the green shoots and the red radish). I had the spiced Guatemalan carajillo it was pretty smooth and not too sweet. I would want to try their other drinks as they have quite an extensive menu.

I tried both the Kyoto and Wet Work, enjoying them both. They would even work as a blend of one another. My dad accidentally ordered a chocolate martini instead of an espresso martini, and Aaron made it happen. (The entire table loved it! Take that poured over some ice cream and I'd be far too content!) My brother had the gin martini, and while not a fan of gin straight up, it had a nice smooth finish that I could appreciate.

We had the best time at Odd Society, and I am still smiling two days later. Initially perplexed,…read moresince our Uber dropped us off one block away, we had no idea where we were in the dark of the Canadian night. Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. Alas, we had reservations at Lunch Lady up the street. We should have stayed at Odd Society. Lunch Lady was a disappointment. Try Odd Society out as both a distillery and cocktail bar. You won't be disappointed about either one.

In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

I have seen a lot of good reviews about this place and convinced our party of 8 to come try it…read moresince it's in our neighborhood and we have been looking for a new local Greek restaurant since Panos on Marine Drive closed down. Sadly, we were sooooo disappointed! We came on a Saturday evening at peak time, around 6:30pm, so granted, we expected it to be busy. We were sat nearly right away in comfortable booths with tables. The waitress brought us menus and water. So far so good! We ordered our food, nothing crazy, several got the special of the night, lamb souvlaki with potatoes rice and pita. A couple ordered the seafood pasta, one asked for red sauce instead of cream sauce and two asked for veggie lasagna's but they only had one order available. When we asked about the beers on menu, we were told each one was unavailable except for Heineken and the seasonal beer. When we asked what it was, she didn't know. She then brought the can of beer over and said she wasn't sure what type it was. Fair enough! She was young, seemed new and not quite trained with alcohol so no big deal. It gave us a giggle. It was a Granville Island radler btw. I ordered a Heineken and my friend ordered the yummy sounding spicy passionfruit margarita. My beer came fairly quick but no margarita. Then the young waitress came out to say that our food would take a bit longer to come out since they were a bit slammed with orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We decided we'd be ok, and decided to wait. One hour later!!!!! I'm not joking, one hour later, the margarita drink came out. Again, we noticed very young and probably newly hired staff attempting to make drinks. When this $19 drink came out, it looked like the rim of salt was touched with fingers and a lot of it was missing. However, my friend desperate for a drink or morsel of anything, decided to just have it as it came. She said it was delicious and the best thing she had. One hour and a half later!!! Our food came out. My medium rare lamb was cooked through and the pasta with red sauce came out with a cream sauce, but there was NO way we were going to send anything back as we were pretty hangry at this point. The potatoes were delicious, the rice extremely plain. All 8 of us agreed that for the price, service and quality of food, we would not be returning, although my friend said if the passionfruit drink was on the happy hour menu, she would consider it. All in all, very disappointed.

Theres some cool decor and 2 TVs. I asked the waitstaff for their recommendation for the sweetest drink, and they recommended the Aphrodite. The wait staff who served us ended up being the bartender and my drink was made to my liking. A definite 5/5. I was excited to see Taramosalata and grilled octopus on the menu ordered them. The taramosalata tasted amazing! Tasty, perfectly salted and light 5/5! The grilled octopus came as 2 super skinny legs: 1 leg was a bit too charcoaled and the other one was OK. I cut and dip it into the olive oil and vinegar sauce it came with, and that made it much better 3/5. We also ordered the Loukaniko sausage, which came piping hot. It tasted better with the mustard 3/5. Finally, we ordered their special for the evening, the lamb sirloin souvlaki dinner. This dish came with roasted potatoes, rice pilaf and pita bread. The roasted potatoes were delicious; the lamb souvlaki (med rare) was tender; the rice was a bit bland; and the extra pita was helpful to finish my taramosalata. The servers were very attentive as well. Unfortunately, something I had didn't agree with me at all! That is why I had to give this a 3/5.

I ate at two other tasting menu spots while I was here and this place was a clear winner. It's a one Michelin star restaurant and absolutely lives up to the hype. We did the tasting menu and every single course was delicious. There were a lot of flavor combinations I'd never had before, and the presentation was on point. They took the time to explain each dish, which I really appreciated. The chef clearly focuses on seasonality and local ingredients, so the menu changes by season. This tasting menu was themed around "Preservation," which made the experience even more interesting. The ambiance was top notch. The space felt warm, intimate, and thoughtfully designed, which really elevated the whole experience without feeling stuffy or overdone. The pacing was perfect, about two hours total, and I left very full and very happy. Can't wait to come back.

A spectacular rooftop overlooking Van, with service to match. The service was first-class! We felt completely pampered. Between the stylish decor and the top-tier flavours, this place is a total knockout. From the moment we stepped onto the rooftop, you realize that this is a place on another level: the atmosphere, the views, the energy, the service... all of it. The food was like no other! The food was everything to dream of in a summer menu. They have divine dishes with impeccable presentation, and a breathtaking view--a real gem of Vancouver. It's the kind of place where you want to linger and soak it all in. What makes Parker Rooftop truly stand out is its combination of breathtaking views, energetic ambiance, and quality food and drinks. Their attention to detail, speed, and ability to handle a busy crowd without missing a beat is impressive. But what really sets them apart is how welcoming they are--they make every guest feel like a regular. The staff as a whole delivered a truly five-star experience and made the rooftop dining atmosphere feel even more elevated and memorable. They made us feel welcome from the start, guided us through the event & somehow managed to make the whole experience feel both luxurious & personal. It's not just about the food/drinks (which are top-tier); it's about the vibe they create. Fun, friendly, and full of personality! This place doesn't just serve dinner, it delivers an experience. I didn't realize the restaurant did sushi platters and oysters - what a pleasant surprise! The oysters were delicious. For the sushi I've definitely had better, but was still impressed that the restaurant had this kind of platter available. The staff were very friendly and attentive to replenishing drinks. I believe some of the drinks were made specifically for the event so I'm not sure if any of the ones I had are on the regular menu. However, the drinks were delicious and the 'Ryujin' especially was my favourite one (the glass with dragonfruit garnished over top!) It was fruity, sweet, and deceivingly tasted like tropical juice. I would like to return to experience the restaurant on its own sometime. In the meantime, it's an excellent spot for private events!
