Jin is wonderful and does good work at reasonable prices. I have taken dry cleaning here for a decade. One time I needed it done sooner than she could provide, and she arranged to get it done ASAP and even called me when it came in. She is always professional, courteous and kind, and my clothes always come back to me in perfect condition. Not once have any of my items been lost or misplaced, and her alterations are spot on. Update as of 1/05/2008: They are one block away from my place and have become the default cleaners. I need to update this review as I need to write about two special incidents: Incident #1: My mother-in-law bought a new suit for me as a gift. I had to get it altered because I like my suits fitted. I kept postponing the alteration until my in-laws called and said they are visiting us in a few days. Holy shit!! If my mother-in-law notices that Mr. Oscar de la Renta (the suit) has been sitting in my closet for the past 5 months, she is going to give me "that look"....you know, the look of the in-laws! So, I rush to Jin's to get the suit altered. I told her that I need it fit to my body. She is taking measurements and asks me to hold the coat on the back so she can mark the adjustments. I do as she says and she goes "thats too tight...do you want it to look that tight?" Oh yes ma'am, there is nothing worse than a loose suit. Plus, if you have it flaunt it, right? She doesn't say another word, takes measurements, and asks me to come back after 2 days. Wow, 2 days? Thats impressive.....the tailor at Nordstroms wanted a week to do the same job (take that sucka!). I go back after 2 days and the suit fits perfectly. For further proof, you can see me wearing that suit in the pics from Yelp holiday party. I got quite a few compliments on it. So much for being too tight! Incident #2: At the same Yelp party, someone bumped in to my partner thereby spilling red wine on his camel hair sport coat. I took it to Jin's and they got the stain out. It looks new. So yeah, you can trust your clothes to Jin. Their prices are reasonable. I took an entire laundry hamper full of clothes (sweaters, shirts, and pants) for dry cleaning yesterday and my bill was only $82 (I was expecting anywhere around $150) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previous review: I have been going to this place for a while now and they have not misplaced or ruined my clothes....yet. I have had horrible experiences with dry cleaners before but not with Jin. I have had all sorts of clothes dry cleaned here...linen suits, ties, silk shirts, dress shirts, wool pants etc. Everything has been perfectly done. They also do alterations. Their cleaning service seems fine. My issues are with their tailoring. After seeing mostly good reviews on yelp, I brought in a suit and a pair of pants to have altered. Both pairs of pants needed to just be hemmed. The jacket needed the back to be taken in a bit, and the sleeves to be lengthened. I should have reconsidered when the woman in front of me lashed out at the lady behind the register about how her skinny jeans had been ruined by the tailor. I guess I doubted her sense of reality as I couldn't imagine how she could cram herself into said skinny jeans. That being said, the lady behind the register and marked up the changes needed on my clothes. She said that I could pick them up about three days later, and I appreciated the speedy service. That is, until I came to pick up my clothes. Since the alterations were basic, I didn't inspect them in the store. I also needed them for a work trip a day later, so my options were limited. Upon my eventual inspection, here's what I discovered: -The hems of both pairs of pants were so poorly done that fabric was ballooning out between the stitches. They length was also at least half an inch longer than had been pinned. -The sleeves of the jacket were altered unevenly so that the material on the inner arm pulls, and looks awkward. Additionally, the buttons weren't moved to compensate for the addiitonal length. -The seam of the back of the jacket appeared fine. So, I wore my poorly tailored clothing on my trip. When I returned, I brought these garments back to Jin's to discuss. I was greeted by the same young lady behind the counter. I told her I was unhappy, and showed her the hems of the pants. I was then rudely told that is how pants are supposed to look, and that nothing was wrong. If this were my first alterations experience, I could have gone along it, but this is not how hems are supposed to look. I then moved on to the jacket, and put it on to clearly show the issue. She again rudely told me that she saw what I was talking about and that it had nothing to do with the alterations, but rather the construction of the jacket itself. If it had been a flea-market find, I could have gone along with it, but the jacket is from a reputable brand and the flaw clearly is a result of the tailoring. Despite saying that these issues weren't their fault, and that nothing could be done, she did suggest that I come back when the tailor is there - which is between 9:00 and 3:00 on Mon, Wed and one other week day. Seeing as how I have a job, this isn't going to work. She then suggested that I come back when the owner is there to discuss. What I'm doing instead is going elsewhere to pay for the alterations to be re-done correctly. That means I'm out $73. Please, for the sake of your pants and jackets, do not allow Jin's to attempt your alterations. read more

I have been in the neighborhood for over 15+ years. I stumbled upon Jin's in the first 3 months and never looked back. I have gone to her for not only MY work clothes, but my husband's shirts, bed comforters, etc....BUT she also has literally altered all of my clothes to fit me. She has an incredibly keen eye on how they should fit and I don't trust anyone else as much. I'm still here in 2022 and Jin is still my go to. She's friendly, attentive, so reasonably priced....and most importantly, a staple in the neighborhood so much that my family and friends laugh and say "yes yes, I know, take a left as soon as you see Jin's :)). read more

One of the best cleaners I've ever used. I use them for drycleaning my insane amount of shirts and pants for work, and a few suits here and there. What most impressed me this morning was that I went through my stuff and found that they had actually taken the time to match up the right pair of pants (amongst 7-8 pairs) to the right jacket for my suit and hung them together even though they hadn't come that way. Everyhing comes out well from them and my clothse are always on time. That and they are pretty cheap, so that's pretty awesome in my book! read more

This review is only for alterations since Jin's is too far from my house for regular dry cleaning. But I had them alter my dress for my sister's wedding. They really did a great job- although it took a little longer than i would have liked, but I had plenty of time. I primarily use Jin as a dry cleaner for typical boring work fare. I've never had any issues either with quality, price or timeliness. I've also taken in some pants for length and waist (again, boring wool work pants) and received similar exemplary service. I recommend this place without reservation for drycleaning, laundering of men's shirts, and basic tailoring. I've never had anything come back with a problem. Any time I've had instructions not followed (eg, jacket need button sewn but instead they just cleaned it), they made it OK at their own expense. I've had them hem pants and sew backing onto a blanket, which are both pretty simple, but that went well, too. I wish they took Amex though. If a different nearby drycleaner did, I'd use the other one assuming reasonable competence in actually cleaning my clothes. It just seems nit-picky and cheap not to accept it. read more

Do not go to this dry cleaner. I had come with a complaint about an item that I felt had been damaged during the cleaning process. The owner said she wanted to have the cleaner she works with review the item, which is fine. I came back the next day, and the two of them began yelling at me about the fact that the item was not damaged, citing pictures online (that show up differently than in person, according to the store). I told them that I knew my item had been a different color, but was willing to just walk away with my item. They then refused to return my item to me, witholding it (private property) until they were able to take it to the original store to prove to me that they hadn't damaged it. They were also demanding that I apologize for accusing them. The cleaner the owner works with grabbed the item from me, and I was afraid he would hit me. I begged them to return my item. They then coerced me into signing a document saying that I would not bother the store about the item, to be able to get it back. Only after I signed the document was I able to get my jacket. I have not felt this threatened physically and emotionally by a store ever. Do not visit this cleaner. read more

This review is for alterations since that's all I've had done. I brought in a suit that need quite a bit of work. They did a fabulous job the first time around and really listened to what I wanted. The work consisted of: pants- hem and lowering the waste, which was pretty extensive jacket-taking it in I would not hesitate to go back here. Two stars because they never get my stains out and my clothes never smell like they've been cleaned. They have never "ruined" anything of mine beyond repair but I have gotten wool suit pants back with weird spray marks on them and a black silk blouse with white marks on it. Based on bad experiences in the past, I'm wary about trying new cleaners so I only dropped off 1 pair of jeans requesting original hemming. She wrote down the inseam and didn't measure or pin the jeans. A couple days later, I come to pick it up and the hemming looked pretty good, but sadly they were 2 inches too short. It would have taken 2 minutes just to pin them - she didn't ask and neither did I so I guess it was also partially my fault. Cost was more than I had paid at similar cleaners. read more

Jin saved not one - but TWO - dresses that I thought I'd ruined. One of them I'd just bought, and only gotten to wear once and was SO sad that I'd ruined it. I'd have paid much more to have it cleaned and I'd have been willing to wait much longer - so imagine my happiness when it only took 3 days and under $10 each. I dropped off my dry cleaning about a month ago (6 shirts and 3 slacks perhaps) and sadly the shirts came back with a yellow stains on them. It looked like a chemical had splashed on the clothes, hitting each shirt in a different place. I noticed when I got home and turned right around to go back to the cleaners. To their credit, Jin's was apologetic and said they would fix it at no charge. To their detriment in this review, it took them 3 TRIES to get most of the junk off my shirts. This means I: went back to pick up my shirts, sent them back still yellow, went back to pick up my shirts, sent them back still yellow, went back to pick up my shirts, sent them back still yellow, went back to pick up my shirts,..... and one still has a spot on the collar, but I just gave up. Jin's was always nice, but I don't chose my dry cleaners on kindness. I look for them to clean my clothes. read more

Although this place has good reviews thus far, it is not worth the risk. I went here three times and each time they ruined something, which I did not realize until after the last time I brought a load of laundry. I kid you not.... each time, at least 2 articles of clothing were damaged. Outrageous. I don't pay someone to destroy my clothes, when I could do just a fine job destroying them myself if I were to clean them at home. Their prices aren't very great, either. For the quality of work, it is pricey. They use cheap and lazy processes, and if you have fine quality clothing, this will ruin them. This place has cost me much more than I bargained for. Jin's is my go-to for alterations--big or small--and has been for several years. I used to live close, but even since I've moved, I go out of my way to take my clothes here because of her stellar work. I've had dresses, skirts, pants, you name it fitted by Jin and they've all turned out wonderfully. Most recently I brought in my favorite pair of jeans, which were wearing out in the butt, for some preemptive patching. I told her I understood if she needed to do some stitching across the patch (even though I didnt really want obnoxious zig zags across it) because I knew that iron-on patches could fall off after a few washings. She used a real piece of denim instead of flimsy iron-on and the stitching is practically invisible. Great work. read more

Took two winter coats here to have them cleaned. My wife's jacket came back with wear marks that were not there when we took them in, and my jacket came back with a button broken off that they refuse to take responsibility for. When I called to ask about it, I was yelled at and interrupted constantly. Worst customer service I have had since moving back to Chicago. Worst service period that I've had. So, to clarify, I paid $55 to have one jacket broken and the other one come back worse than when we brought it. These people do not deserve the customers that they have. Complete garbage. Save yourself some frustration and go somewhere else. read more

Love Jin's. This is the closest dry cleaner to my apt, and I really lucked out. The ladies are pleasant and helpful, and they do an above-average job for, in my experience, below-average prices. I routinely take advantage of the same-day service (drop off by 9am) and have never been disappointed. Speaking of which, this morning, I didn't make it in until 9:05, and the clothes had already gone out for the day. Jin's called the van driver and asked him to come back for my job, and he did! Amazing. I haven't asked them to accomplish any amazing feats of dry cleaning or alterations (yet), but I will update if/when I do. read more

'nuff said. actually, more respectfully, they do a great job. once they knocked a button off my shirt and fixed it for free inside of a day. jin remembers my last name, pulls me up on their new computer system (no need to keep your receipts...they've got you in the system now), and i'm in and out inside of two minutes. i had them bring up pants and they're perfect. at first, without the convenient computer system, i was a little down about my cleaner being so lo-fi, although the service is good, price is reasonable, and the turn around is 48 hours. now, with that new system, well...five stars. read more

I brought in a dress to be shortened yesterday. They were nice but when I asked how much it would cost they told me it would be $50 for a double hem. I took my dress and walked out. I went down the street and was charged $32 at Fame Cleaners. Honestly I have had the same service done at many other places and never in my life have I been told it would cost $50 to shorten a dress. I wont be back. I can not speak to the quality of their work but their prices seem over the top. read more

I was sad to say goodbye to their quick, friendly service, good prices, and quality cleaning. They remember your name and starch preferences. This place is great, and everyone is so friendly. I tend to get my heels caught in my hem from time to time so they need to be fixed, and Jin's always does a great job and I never have an issue again. Clothes also comes out looking great and very crisp. They do a great crease that lasts which just looks great! I'm tired of dealing with sub-par service and cleaning at Jin's. Since dry cleaning is not a regular service I need, I put up with the tiny mistakes like not fixing a button when requested. However, in the last year I have used Jin's about 6 times, and every single time there has been something wrong; pressing pants from the outside, when I (and the garment tag) have expressed the need to press from the inside, fixing a hem on one side of a shirt and not the other, and twice adding stains to the garments to be cleaned! I'm through with the poor service and the high prices. I'll go elsewhere. read more

I really like Jin's. They have never lost any of our clothes (so far so good) and the clothes don't come back smelling like chemicals (although I really don't know what cleaning methods they use). Their hours are convenient (open until 7pm weekdays and open on Saturdays), which we appreciate. And I completely trust Jin with alterations - she pins you up SO fast, which made me wonder if she was paying attention. But everytime I try the clothes on, they fit perfectly and I get lots of compliments on the items she's altered. We're tempted to try Greener Cleaners because we like the idea of environmentally-friendly dry cleaning but we just can't get away from Jin's. read more
