TL;DR: A great place to get a new pair of glasses, typically ready in 30 minutes! Thoughts: I came here around 7pm on Sunday, which is just an hour before Jins closed. I didn't have an appointment so I had to wait in line, which took roughly 15-20 minutes. I was served by Natalie, who was very friendly and patient throughout my visit. I wanted to get a pair of glasses with clip-on sunglasses that worked well with running, and the staff at Jins were able to make the arms a bit tighter so that it's hard to slide down. The whole process was very efficient; I forwarded my prescription info to Jins' email address and they would find the lenses accordingly. There were a wide selection of frames in store to try on. After I made my payment, I waited around 30 minutes (not a big problem since it's easy to spend 30 minutes in the mall!) to get my glasses. Even thought it's already passed the closing time, the staff did a great job making sure I was satisfied with glasses before I left. We didn't make an appointment, but were willing to wait, so we got on the waitlist to get my husband a new pair of glasses with his new prescription. If you aren't willing to mill about the mall for a while, make an appointment! My husband's optometrist has apparently atrocious handwriting, as this is the second time we've gotten a completely wrong prescription because nobody could read the numbers, but the JINS staff prioritized getting the lenses both on the new pair and his old pair remade, not once, but TWICE! (I'm really not kidding about the optometrist's handwriting...) Even though it resulted in an inordinately long wait at the mall (and I'm not a fan of malls), I was really impressed that the staff was willing to keep going until his glasses were right, and took the time to explain the differences between all the lens options and such. Thank goodness for their ~30 minute lens timeframe, because if this had been elsewhere, who knows how long redoing the lenses that many times would have taken! read more

Amazing service and affordable prices! I lost my glasses recently and needed to get a replacement quickly. I called ahead and they said they could check if my lenses are in stock, if so, new glasses could be available the same day. I emailed the prescription to the store, and they emailed me back in a few hours confirming my lenses were in stock. I used an old pair of JINS frame and paid a lens replacement fee because I have a tricky face shape and very few things fit me well. But when I arrived. I saw there is actually now a pretty good selection of things that fit me (wide face but low nose bridge), so I could've gotten new too. The final price was still cheaper than if I went with insurance at an optometrist, I probably would just keep getting glasses here from now on. New lenses in my old frames were ready in 40 min, works perfectly. read more

I've visited JINS multiple times at their San Francisco location and at Valley Fair, and it wasn't until about two years ago where I finally made the jump to actually buy a pair of their glasses instead of just arbitrarily trying their plethora of pairs on for fun haha. Since getting JINS, I haven't been able to go back to any other brand! I've been a HUGE fan of their glasses ever since and currently own two pairs. I made another visit to this location a couple of days ago to get the lenses of my most recent pair replaced with a new prescription. Each visit I've had, their staff has been extremely kind. Service in general is amazing, and they really take the time to make sure you've found something you'll like. Glasses are about less than $140 here, but they with free lenses with every purchase which is something I greatly appreciate. I was also made aware by one of the staff members the other day about their program where if you buy a new pair of glasses, they would replace the lenses on your previous pair for free. Overall though, their glasses are of very high quality and you can come in for adjustments for free any time too (with an appointment). With COVID-19, they have amazing protocols to make you feel safe during your visit. Upon entering, they give you a small tray to place glasses in after you've tried them on to be sanitized later on. Social distancing is well enforced with stickers on the ground and plexiglass between staff and customers. They also limit the number of people entering the store, and all of the staff wear masks. The only difficulty that I find with JINS nowadays is scheduling an appointment. I've visited this location about twice now during the pandemic, and have found that it's easiest to secure a spot inside by getting an appointment through their website. However, in my experience, I've found that I haven't been able to get appointments as early as I'd prefer; they're usually mostly available almost 2-3 weeks later which also goes to show how many people shop there. The first thing this place needs to improve is the staffs need to learn how to pick up the phone call from the customer who is trying to get updates on their new eyeglasses. But I try to call this Jin Valley Fair so many times. But the staff never answers the phone call. They are unprofessional at the customer service at all. I've gotten a few pairs of glasses from Jins in the last few years, and I have continued to return due to the competitive pricing. I have some difficulty finding glasses that don't pinch my ears or put pressure on the sides of my face, but I have always been able to find at least one pair of glasses that fit my needs. When you buy a free, the prescription lens are included in the cost. Since the pandemic, they also allow for partial blue light reflecting lens at no additional cost (not sure if this will change in the future). Mamy of the frames are lightweight and the employees are overall helpful. Several major things to note: - This location is in valley fair, where you now have to pay for parking after 2 hours (ugh). I prefer to buy my glasses in store since I can try it on and ensure it will fit. This this may take some time, and so I would highly recommend going as early as possible to avoid the crowd - Apparently in store orders are now completely separate from online orders (since several months ago, apparently). So the order does not get posted to your online Jins account. They recommend calling if you want updates, and state that you get a confirmation email when it is shipped or delivered (I am still waiting for my pair so I can't speak on that) - Expect tons of people near the end of the year. People are trying to use up their insurance for new glasses, and they are SEVERELY understaffed. Calling doesn't work as nobody will pick up. Yes I had to go back in person to clarify a lot of my questions since I called 3 times on different days at different times without success. This JINS is located in the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara. Parking is either in the parking lot or garage parking - it is free for the first 2 hours, then $1/hour. I would go here first to look at/try on glasses and get your order in because it does time for them to make your glasses (takes about 30 minutes). Service here could be better, most of the time when you first come in, it is hard to flag down an employee for help since most of them are behind the counter - some of them try to avoid eye contact and it is pretty obvious. Usually there are only 1 - 2 employees checking people out, even when the line gets kind of long, so you may be in there for awhile. read more

Drove here from SF since the SF store and Hillsdale stores are both closed post-COVID. Very disappointed. Line was long as expected on a Sunday at 5pm. I picked out glasses and lined up for half an hour, only to be told at the register that they may not have my glasses in stock and cannot make them today. If they have it in stock, I'll have to come back to pick them up tmr. Otherwise, they'll order for me online for it to be shipped to my home which would take 4 weeks. Nope. These glasses were $140 in store, but $100 online. I drove here for an hour and waited 30 mins in line. I'm not about to drive back here or pay 40% surcharge. I wouldn't have minded it if they were able to make them on the spot and also swap out the lenses on my current glasses with their revive program. But I cannot do without my current glasses for a full day.... Left without the glasses and ordered them online at a lower cost... Fingers crossed they get them right when I get them in 4 weeks. This was one of my most pleasant and efficient glasses buying experiences ever! In my history of buying glasses, I've gone to private stores, Kaiser, and big warehouses like Costco to purchase my spectacles. All have their pros and cons. Private stores have a huge selection, but you'd have to shell out more money. When my old job had Kaiser, I was limited to going there for eye appointments. It was just easier to also grab new glasses at Kaiser. Depending on the warehouse store selection, the choices varied and the frames are a hit or miss. The one common thread between all those places were that I always had to make more than one trip -- first visit to choose frames, second visit to pick up after lenses were made at lab off-site. I always have to get high index lenses so that can add up more time too. JINS popped up on my radar after talking to a few friends on where they got their glasses. I never knew there could be different "fits" and always assumed I had a weirdly shaped face and it was just a fact of life that I had to search longer for frames to fit my flatter face. I was very happy to discover that JINS offered frames with the "ALTERNATIVE FIT" where frames have a higher nose pad to fit flatter Asian faces! I felt the difference right away as I tried on those frames. I've been wearing glasses for over 20 years (!!) so I know what I'm looking for. With my high myopia (i.e. high negative prescription for nearsightedness), I found through wearing a few different frame styles over the years that I prefer thicker plastic ones with sturdy handles to contain my thick lenses. JINS has a pretty wide selection of light plastic frames (see various AIRFRAME collections) to try in store. However, they don't have all the selection you see online, so sometimes you may not be able to try a style/color that you see online in store. But the selection is still pretty varied and plentiful. CUSTOMER SERVICE was pretty helpful despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon (I came around 4PM). It was a little bit crowded but there were enough mirrors all around that you can easily grab a frame and see how it looks on your face without being in people's way. I actually like being able to wander around by myself to try glasses first. I prefer not having associates ask me questions or try to "sell" things to me as I try on frames. I appreciated having a couple people ask me if I found things OK, and one associate was very helpful in offering advice on types of frames for high prescriptions and which were the lighter ones. PROCESS TIME: Once I decided on a frame, I went to the reception line. An associate came by and offered to grab me a pair of new frames since I was still holding the tester one. Receptionist reviewed my prescription and entered all the info into their system via iPad -- then I was able to create my own JINS profile on the spot! This will make it easy when I want to buy glasses next time at any of their stores. I was surprised that despite my high prescription (-9.0 and -8.75), they still had the lenses ready in store and the lab would cut them in 30 mins! I was fully expecting to have to come back another day. The receptionist measured my eyes and prepared my receipts & insurance paperwork (note -- they do NOT take insurance, but will provided itemized receipts for your carrier). They DO TAKE FSA/HSA though. I set the timer on my phone for 30 mins later and wandered around the mall a bit. I came back around 35 mins later and waited in the pickup line. There were a couple people in front of me but the line moved pretty quickly. My glasses were really ready!! I tried them on and they fit perfectly; I didn't have to do any adjustment at all. However, I know that I'll have 30 days to come back if I want to return my glasses. And I have a 1-YEAR WARRANTY on manufacturer defects. Pretty good deal for just $100! Overall, this was such an awesome glasses shopping experience that I'm already thinking about coming back to get another pair! Going back on a weekday for my eye exam appointment with 20/20. They were behind, and I had to wait an hour after my appointment time, but that's not JINS's fault. They are separate entities. Anyways, today (Monday) wasn't as crowded as Saturday. The staff helped me to choose my frame while I was waiting. Note that each staff does EVERYTHING. If they are not behind the counter ringing up customers, they would be outside cleaning glasses or helping customers. Either they need to have extra staff on weekends or they need to have dedicated staff to help customers choose their glasses. After a thorough eye exam, which takes more than 40 min, I was able to get my frame and get into the "reception" line. It was Kaan behind the counter. Since it wasn't crowded, he showed me a few other frames. He knows the specs for all glasses, and he made sure I was comfortable with the choice I made. Yes, as other yelpers reported, Kaan was good, real good! After I finalized my frame, we went back to finish the transaction. I LOVE my glasses! I am always receiving compliments about them. I couldn't believe how quick the service was to do everything! If you are wanting an eye exam at JINS, make sure you make a reservation. I thought that I could walk in and have my exam, but it was booked until the following day. Luckily, my insurance covered my exam and it took no longer than 30 minutes. Walking around the shop, there were staff members offering help if needed. I am very indecisive and wanted to show my mom the glasses that I may potentially buy. So one of the workers said that they could hold the glasses for a week as I make my decision. I thought this was awesome since I wasn't sure how quickly I could make my mom come to the mall. I eventually chose a pair of glasses on a weekday night and they said to come back in 30 minutes. My mom and I went shopping at a store nearby and went back 30 minutes later. They were complete! Plus they try to adjust the glasses so that they fit perfectly on your face which I truly appreciated because I wouldn't have known any difference unless it really bothered me. This place was recommended by a friend and I am so glad she told me about JINS! I lost my glasses over Thanksgiving weekend so I was in desperate need of spectacles as I cannot see well at night. I went over here after work and luckily it wasn't too busy. There is a large selection of styles of frames that you can choose from! I really like the open concept design of this place, it doesn't feel like a medical office where you purchase glasses. It feels more like a boutique of glasses, sort of like a sunglasses store. The employees were very efficient, quick, and helpful. I brought over my Kaiser prescription, but I believe you can also have eye exams there as well. They offer the blue light, which is an extra $60 (I got this since I'm always on the computer at work). My total came up to be $140, which is insane considering I paid $230 when I got my original glasses at Kaiser without blue light lens...def coming back here if I need a new pair! They also gave me a $10 off card for my next purchase. Overall, a great experience. This makes getting glasses so much more accessible and affordable for many people. After a chaotic fitting to say the least, some months later I simply looked down and my glasses fell from my head and smashed on the ground. Last year I had a 5 star experience here but this year was terrible. I used to hear great things about this place and obvis a main perk is being able for them to make your prescription glasses quickly in the same day. In 2022 I was between two frames and I recall the staff being so much more helpful, kind, personable, and funny and even helped me choose between two frames. It was all made quickly and I was one happy buck. Before any judgment I do work in customer service so I know what's good vs bad. This year my experience has been the complete opposite. This year I decided to get cataract surgery although I am very young to have that issue, and that whole process and recovery and getting a new glasses prescription in itself was traumatic for me. Naturally I wanted to reuse the same frames with a new prescription but they noted it couldn't be done that same day. I wanted them before a vacation and was willing to wait a few days but the estimate was going to take too long so I said nvm thanks anyways. Recently I tried coming for a different simpler prescription that I was hoping could be done same day, and anyone who comes to Valley Fair SC on a regular knows how hectic and frustrating getting here and parking can be some days. I end up learning after waiting close to the mall closing time that the pair they sold me last year shouldn't have even been made or sold in the first place to me due to "warping" or something like that of the frame size and my PD. Bro I've never heard of that term in my life. It was a good amount of annoying info to absorb in a short amount of time before closing and I felt like the worker helping me from the start was speaking very quickly to me about everything and it didn't feel like genuine customer service. It seemed like he hated his life and this job. I get we all have bad days but dude this is v frustrating for me! Yo girl has been trying to get glasses for hella long! I could never get a call back from this place. I ordered a pair of glasses and it broke. I tried calling them over and over with no success. All the bay area locations has since closed. When I was there they seem to not know what was what compared to the Sf location. It's unfortunate since I like their glasses but the service is just eh. The prices are good value but they don't last very long. Your lucky to get 1-2 years out of a pair. Also they do this revive program where you can send in your old glass and they will update the lens. It works half ass. The service is really bad because they won't revive half frames although I bought it from them before. Saying some bs on how it could shatter. I purchased my glasses in December 2019, 1.5 years later and the arms have become slightly uneven and the nose pads became loose, so I decided to stop by at Jin's to get them readjusted. I was helped by Jade, she was very friendly and even deep-cleaned the glasses! They fit a lot better afterwards, but shortly after leaving, I came back to get the nose pad slightly more tighter. I was helped by Maria, she was also friendly and provided great service. 1.5 months later, the nose pad area isn't as tight and I still have to push my glasses up frequently, but I think that would be common with any thin frames. (also another reason for the glasses sliding down is me having oily skin lol) Still satisfied with my purchase and the great service here! The styles are really nice here. Lots of thin, flattering frames. They also make the glasses very fast. I went during a busy month, but my glasses took less than an hour to finish. Came back to Jins this week for a new pair of glasses. Due to COVID, they are restricting the number of shoppers in the store at a time and do require masks. I arrived around 4:30 PM on a Saturday and was told there would be ~45 minute wait. I put my name down and they said they'd text me when it was my turn. Due to their convenient location in Valley Fair, a 45 minute wait is not bad at all. There's so much you can see, do, and eat during that time! I received the follow-up text at 5:30 to come back. When you check in, they'll give you a tray to hold all the glasses you touch/try on so they can sanitize them afterwards. In terms of COVID protocols and safety, they're doing a great job. However, the day that I came in they seemed to be having a lot of technical difficulties. Their systems were down, printers weren't working, etc. so they had to manually enter a lot of my prescription information, etc. which made the process longer than usual but I was still able to walk out with my glasses the same day which was nice. Another factor in updating my review from 5 stars to 4 stars is that the employees were not being as helpful as usual. I came in this time specifically looking for their Jins Switch glasses (regular prescription glasses that come with a magnetic sunglass add-on). I was set on getting this type of lens for my upcoming trip but I didn't love any of the options in store. I asked if there were any other ones online or if this was everything and she said this was it, that there's nothing else online. So I settled and just picked the one I liked the most. When I got home, I checked their website and saw there's about 6 more new options online that they did not have in store. I was pretty disappointed about that because I actually really liked one of the options online. Selection: 5/5 They have trendy selection of both glasses, sunglasses and snap on sunglasses. Their selection is especially helpful for people with small nose bridges. Cost: 5/5 I saw their items range from $80-$200 with most glasses around $120 mark. This price includes prescription glasses for the most part and you can also include blue light filter. Now although they don't directly take insurance, this cost is very cheap as compared to other places that take insurance. I've had to pay an additional $200+ just for lenses at places which take insurance. I was lucky that I could claim these glasses under my insurance as an out of network claim so these were even cheaper for me. Customer service: 100/5 They have excellent customer service. They helped us adjust the glasses on site and we were able to get our new glasses within 30 minutes. They were very patient with our questions and answered with a smile on their face. Game changer!! If you've been like me and ordering glasses through your optometrist for multiple decades, give JINS a try. The end to end process couldn't have been any more seamless. Huge thanks to Beverly who was extremely helpful, informative, and patient throughout the entire process. Glasses broke and my wife heard about JINS so we head down to VF on a Friday afternoon, found a comparable frame in 15 mins (solid selection), had a prescription so walk up to counter (only one person in line) and make a few lens selections while asking Beverly questions, mostly stuff like "that's it...this is all we have to do...glasses will be ready today...??" In less than an hour, we walk out with glasses that fit and look better at 1/3 of the cost of previous glasses from the optometrist. As an aside, the frames I picked were very similar to my previous glasses (designer brand HB) but the nose padding was more pronounced on the JINS frames. Visited Jins and found that they have and big variety of glasses. I took my prescription there and I had my glasses in three weeks. The nose pads on the glasses were very uncomfortable so I returned another day and one of their skilled opticians replaced the pads with silicone nose pads which are more comfortable. They are very skilled and professional. read more

Why I would give this place five-stars (but took some off): I was at good ol' San Jose on a business trip and lost my glasses. No glasses to me means no work, no play. Can't focus on a screen or drive. I always carry a copy of my prescription on my phone. I called this place and asked if they could do same-day glasses. They can do same hour glasses! I went there after work, chose a frame, and 35 minutes later I had new glasses. Their selection is good, but limited. They can't do frameless glasses (my favorite) or thick glasses (what I need to read), and for this I take off half star. The staff was super friendly, and I found it peculiar only Asian people work here. No diversity. For this I also take off half star. We live in an era (especially in Silicon Valley) where inclusion and diversity are a must. This is such a convenient and cool concept for getting affordable and stylish glasses. The fact that I can get them same day within 30 minutes of ordering has me shook. Their costumer service is amazing and the whole process itself was great as it's so straight forward. Huy and I believe his name was josh helped me with my process. They both were extremely friendly It is really easy and straight forward, the selection of glasses is so wide in range and all very light weight. Most of the prices is set to about ~100$ which I feel is a fair price for some good quality lens. I like a lot of their styles too and they even look better than some of the designer label brands. The only thing I would note is they do not take insurance so be prepared to pay the full price of it if you are dependent on your insurance covering the whole fee. They did say we could get our money back if we send the receipt in but I just got my pair two days ago so i have yet to find out if my insurance will reimburse me. read more

Place gets busy due to its bright open air high ceiling ambiance, inviting for potential customers to look around and try on glasses. Light weight frames! They have a multitude of colorful wayfarer sunglasses on the left; unfortunately, they don't fill them with prescription lenses. *Out of network benefits. Good thing most glasses are $100 ($60-140) and already come with single vision lenses plus AR anti-glare coating! The sought out Jin's screen technology is an extra $60 but blocks out blue light from computers and smart phones, reducing eye strain. Check in for a complimentary chilled Izze: choose from blackberry, clementine, grapefruit, or green Apple. First time I've seen signage advertising a Yelp check in offer. Enjoy a refreshment while lounging in the waiting area? I've visited a few times and and kept going back to the same area, debating on the clear green or sky blue frames from the Neo Luxe collection. Apparently I've got a small Asian nose so standard fit kept slipping off. Introducing Alternative fit! Only available in the clear sky blue color. Oh wow they don't move at all! I could be rocking my jams and they'd never fall off! I asked for Roxanne's opinion and she liked the blue ones more, complimented my skin, definitely more fun like Andrea said. Check out was a breeze. Andrea walked me through the process and answered all of my questions thoroughly. They had my lenses on site and my glasses could potentially be ready in 15 minutes! No way! My regular optical place has to send them out and I'd get them back in 2 weeks or so. Then again, my main pair of glasses has transitions, polycarbonate lenses, and AR coating, all done off site. Choose your free Jin's case: black, red, beige, or donate $5 to charity for a specially designed case. I got the dual color Children's First case in light blue/grey. Cleaning cloths provided. I was in dire need of a new pair of glasses before my vacation out of the country and I only had a week to get them! I visited JINS and was immediately greeted by Alley who was the MOST helpful! I probably tried every pair of glasses in the store on and she was super patient and helpful! Eventually I found the perfect pair! I was told to come back in 30 minutes and they would be ready! I came by right at the 30 min mark and they were actually ready! That is the fastest I've ever had new eyeglasses made! Most optical shops take at least a week.
