Jinya offers a perfect variety, so your entire party will leave happy and satisfied. We started with an order of edamame, mostly to give us a little time to study the menu options. It was fresh and nicely steamed, and arrived right away. We took our host's suggestion and ordered a fresh watermelon (non-alcoholic) drink. It was fruity and scrumptious, perfect for the hot, muggy day on which we visited. Next, we ordered some of the salmon poke mini-tacos. O.M.G. These were tiny and crunchy with layers of seasoning. SO GOOD. I might just order piles of small bites next time -- seriously, try these. We also loved the crispy chicken, and wanted to try half-a-dozen more items, but wanted to be sure to leave room for the star: ramen. Incredibly glad we did: the ramen we ordered was a knockout. Piping hot, stuffed with flavors, textures, colors, layers of spice. They even have a little note on the table about slurping, which put me at ease! :) -- We didn't try the rice dishes yet, but rest assured there are so many options of rice, curry, ramen, ramen without broth, and dozens of ingredient and spice options, everyone will be able to find something they like. Ever since I can remember, we have been searching for Omaha's premier ramen place. Let me tell you, this is not it. The ambiance is really great. There is hardwood everywhere and it is a very comforting atmosphere. You can see this in the last two pictures. We started out with gyoza and the spicy tuna tacos. Both were great! The gyozas were fairly priced and came with six. The spicy tuna tacos were a little pricey as you only get two per servicing. They were, however, the best part of the dinner. Crispy shells with delicious tuna inside! Now for the ramen... my girlfriend and I both ordered spicy chicken ramen. This ramen was very disappointing. While there was a good amount, the flavor was not good. We noticed that there was a brown paste on top and we both mixed it in. This paste seemingly made the ramen sweet which didn't vibe with us. I compared it to when restaurants use five spice and it overpowers the dish and it's all that you can taste. We might venture back out eventually for the gyoza and tacos as they were delicious. Nice spot. There's a friendly, cozy vibe from the moment you walk in. You'll be politely greeted/announced in Japanese and then led into a delicious new world. And also into the old world, as JINYA adheres to many traditional recipes. One traditional option, and often hard to find, is the Takoyaki (octopus ball). Crunchy, creamy, and unusual, it serves notice that this isn't your everyday Japanese restaurant. I wouldn't even have ordered it, but ... Maddie made sure I had one. Special shout out to her because she turned a good experience to great. From the friendly greeting to the drink samples to the food recommendations, Maddie was phenomenal. Jinya is a West coast ramen chain and they serve authentic ramen in a hip, trendy atmosphere. I liked my visit overall and Jinya might be more like a 3.5. Note: I know this is Omaha and I'm taking this into account- I know that Jinya isn't going to compare to places out in California or out West. We'll take what we can get. Good: Chicken Karage (fried chicken pieces)- Basically 5 chicken tenders with gyoza sauce- pretty good overall. I liked the fried chicken thigh and this was also not super heavily battered. Service- Was pretty solid all around, which is surprising given how long they have been open (not long). Our waters were filled quickly and frequently and the food came out hot and fast. Sprouting up Ramen- I enjoyed this one the most and thought this was very flavorful. I liked the combination of the pork and chicken broth and I thought the brussel sprouts were a nice combination to the Ramen. The thick noodles were also very nice. Bad/mediocre: Jinya Bun- Don't get this. There are so many better versions of this dish in Asian fusion restaurants (I can't really think of many in Omaha that do it well; maybe Ika? And even that one is just alright). The pork belly was overly fatty and lacked the crispy skin that is so delicious. Poor value at $4.50. I would not get this one again. Value- This is an expensive restaurant for what you get. $13 for a bowl of ramen with minimal pork charsiu is a bit pricey. This is to be expected, though, given the lack of competition and Jinya being a franchise. Tonkotsu Black- I was torn between putting this in this section as I enjoyed the broth but it lacked something, I don't know what. I liked the Sprouting up ramen broth a bit more. This wasn't bad by any means and I still finished my dish. The charsiu was tasty- I think that if I go to Jinya again, I'd get another noodle dish. I was going to get the chef's special but they ran out of the ingredients, sadly. I normally always get the Tonkotsu style ramen as well, so I was a bit sad when this pork broth didn't live up to my expectations. Overall, I had a good experience at Jinya and I felt it did a good job serving an authentic bowl of ramen. This might sound a bit bad, but I might prefer Ika over Jinya. Ika is much less authentic but there were some ramen bowls I enjoyed there over Jinya (the Miso ramen pork shoulder at Ika was quite good). I may need to try Jinya once or twice more before making a better decision. read more

Was so excited to see this chain come to Omaha! I am very familiar with it from back home where I had one near my home. I can eat ramen year round but I especially love ramen when it starts to get cold outside. There's nothing better than a warm spicy bowl of ramen on a cold day! The atmosphere inside is trendy and modern. They have seating at the bar as well as tables along the wall and through the room. There is a long communal table, where multiple small parties can be seated together. You also have the options of sitting at the ramen bar, closest to where the action is all going down. The gyoza is a go-to appetizer for us here that never disappoints. As far as the ramen, I like the classic Jinya, which is chicken ramen, or the spicy chicken. If you are afraid of spice, don't be! You can order their spicy ramens on a scale of mild/spicy/hot to fit your tastes. I usually stick at spicy, which has nice heat but doesn't burn out all my tastes buds. read more

- HEALTH HAZARD WARNING: READ THIS BEFORE GOING, EVEN IF YOU LIKE THIS PLACE - I originally developed a liking towards this place and had a good review posted on here for it, but there has just been too much that has happened overtime to the point that this review definitely needs changing. This place's service has went far downhill ever since I first started going a while back. When I did come here last though, it was hard to know what day to come because it is either full or almost full every single day practically - and that's on days where the busyness isn't at it's peak. On it's dreaded busy day is when there are literally no seats to choose from and you'll probably be waiting 30-45 minutes for a seat, and when you DO get a seat it will either be at the normal tables in the middle (if you're very extremely lucky) or, most likely, at the horrible booth area that stretches across the entire wall where I was forced to be packed like sardines next to people I don't even know. This is the worst seating arrangement I've ever experienced anywhere, because when you're seated in this area on one of those dreadful busy days, your personal space bubble is completely shattered with how close you're seated next to other random strangers - you can't get up and down from your tables without bumping into the strangers eating next to you because they're eating literally just a couple inches away from you. You ALWAYS end up bumping into them, being forced to say "excuse me" or "pardon me" every single time you get up. It's a very uncomfortable & unenjoyable experience, especially if the stranger next to you talks and/or eats obnoxiously loud or they shoot dirty looks at you while you're eating. I'll reiterate by saying once again that this is probably the worst seating arrangement I've ever experienced at any restaurant period; especially on busy days like this where I can't even choose my own seat and I'm forced to be packed like a sardine up against people I've never even met before. Additionally during this particular experience, the service was very slow - it took a long time for the waitress to give us our drinks & take our orders, and it took an additional 30+ minutes for my gyoza & ramen to arrive. The waitress never came back unless we raised our hands - and even then it took a very long time for her to notice us, so for a lot of the time that I was eating I couldn't even get a refill for my drink. My ramen was fairly spicy so I was drinking a little more than I usually do, so you can imagine that it's not very enjoyable to not have a drink after eating spicy ramen. They also forgot to give me an extra egg yet still charged me for it. Honestly the whole duration of this experience was pretty tedious & uncomfortable. I went back one or two more times after that to try and give it another chance because I did like the taste of the spicy tonkotsu ramen, and the very last time I went there I was served a sickening dish of spicy tonkotsu ramen that has a cold uncooked pork chashu, as well as a long strand of hair floating in the soup. The eggs in my soup were really cold as well. I come to find out from a former employee that the food is severely mistreated in the kitchen: * Raw salmon is served for over 10 days * Ready-to-eat chashu and panna cotta is handled without any prior hand-washing right after raw chicken is touched for the dumplings * Improper storage of raw meats in walk in * Owner serves month old kombu and peanut sauce that is accidentally set on the processing tables as ramen seasoning * All those things on the table are dumped back into the main container after the end of the day to be served next day All of this is pretty self-explanatory. With all of the sickening experiences that I have had, its more than safe to say that I'll never return here for as long as I live, and that I welcome the condemnation of the restaurant. There's really no reason for you to eat here now, unless you enjoy eating contaminated food. Just don't eat here. Just don't. read more

I like this place. Soup is hot as it's supposed to be. The dashi is strong and flavorful. I had Tonkotsu Black and the noodles were thin, my favorite style. It's hard to find good ramen in smaller cities in the U.S. but JINYA may be my favorite. I also added Takoyaki but that was a let down. The sauce was too sweet for my taste. She comes to the table to refill waters. My two friends get their filled to the top. Every time I think about trying something different, I go back to my fav. Also, is the only restaurant where my daughter will eat ramen. Which is a testament to how good the food is there. The place has a great ambience. It has a bar up front, a communal table in the right side and then individual tables to the far left. Despite being crowded, it is comfortable. The black decor is a good contrast to the open kitchen brightness. I tried the spicy tonkotsu which was amazing. The spicyness was just right (if you order medium it is perfect). Didn't think I'd find good ramen in Omaha, but here I am being proven wrong! I'm from LA and I know good ramen when I taste it. The ramen here was cooked to perfection! The noodles weren't over or under cooked. The soft boiled egg was well done and the broth was equally as fantastic. I got the vegan ramen which definitely isn't the traditional way but it was delicious nonetheless. I would absolutely recommend even if you're not a vegan. The staff was very friendly and greet you in Japanese upon arrival. Service was weirdly slow toward the end of our visit for some odd reason. It wasn't even busy, but I guess that didn't take away from the experience. I will be back. Stopped by late last night on our way home after a day trip in Omaha. My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised to find the busy and loud atmosphere was 100% worth it. We had the pork buns, tacos, and the most amazing ramen I've ever had. We will most definitely be going back next time we are in Omaha. It was a bit on the pricy side but the quality of the food makes it worth it. We ended up sitting at the bar, which was unfortunate because we hate sitting on stools, but the bartender who served us was fun and gave great recommendations, and he seemed really glad to be there. I got door delivery and it was so quick and when the food came it was packaged and sealed so well! The food was still warm and so good. The Jinya Bun was so sweet and soft that it melted in your mouth while the gyoza and ramen were deliciously satisfying. I highly recommend this place whether that be in person or through delivery, you won't regret it. Also I love that they put the seaweed paper in a separate container than the rest of the other ingredients, so they were nice and crispy when they arrived. This is the best place to get ramen in Omaha. My family enjoys the atmosphere and the food. The staff are very friendly and had come to the point that they even help seat our kids when our hands are full. The food is delicious I stick to the ramen with fresh garlic, add bamboo shoots and a seasoned egg. I would say stay away from the chicken chashu, tasted unseasoned unlike its counterpart, pork chashu(highly recommend).
