I'm from Seattle where the ramen spots are very good so I tempered my expectations coming here. The decorations inside was fantastic and I really enjoyed how safe the waitress was with wearing her masks and keeping the tables clean. In terms of the food we ordered pork buns, edamame, the beef udon, and the tonkatsu ramen. What I found so odd was that the ramen had avocado and corn in it which just wasn't very good since those don't go in hot ramen. In my beef udon I wasn't blown away by the broth and to be frank it was quite salty. Not as light as I expected in a udon broth. But where I took stars off this place was because the meat that was in my ramen were just giant chunks that I couldn't chew. They were tough and impossible to eat to the point where I was tired after chewing for like 10 minutes. I am 25 btw so it's not like I had dentures. The bill was around $50 and plus tip came out to closer to 70. I loved the decor and service but I just wasn't satisfied after my meal and I felt like the price didn't justify the experience. Let's start with the food. I chose 4 different dishes to get a overall feel of how they prepare their food. Each dish lacked sodium and required i use soy sauce. Truly an underwhelming experience and i was actually quite disappointed with each dish. The Japanese taste was completely missed on each one. It's almost an insult to call this Japanese inspired. The seasoned egg was over cooked, the broth lacked depth, the wontons were simply just meat filled and had no other elements to them. The rice bowl tasted the same completely one dimensional and isn't worth $8 to $11 it costed. The ramen is lacking in depth as well, and pretty much just taste like a milky chicken broth. Now for the actual complaint. Although they may give you a shrimp option on the menu, they give you chicken and shrimp in the dish. The taste of shrimp is almost holding on to the last little bit of hope it has to actually be noticed. The size of the cups they gave you for sauce is absolutely disgusting compared to how you actually need to make your food actually taste like something. If you're looking for authentic or even something closely resembling actual ramen, suggest going somewhere else because you aren't going to find it here. read more

I went to Jinya on a Friday for an early dinner, around 530. I didn't really know what to expect, since restaurant chains and authentic, delicious Asian food did not typically intersect. Food is 4 stars in my opinion - pretty decent! I had the spicy tonkatsu ramen and the pork gyoza. It was certainly better than the worst ramen I've had, but it wasn't GREAT ramen, you know? I appreicated the depth of flavor in the broth. But, I ordered my ramen medium spicy and felt like it was comparatively pretty mild. I want up putting some extra hot sauce in it. The pork gyoza we're good, but I wish that they've been served a little bit warmer - I don't know if they maybe sat on the counter for too long or what. The atmosphere is also 4 stars - clean, modern, and beautiful decor. But the service left a bit to be desired - 2.5 stars at best. The servers all have kind of a cool hipster vibe. When they found out I was a single person eating, they sat me at the bar, which would have been fine, but the bartender, then, was pretty disappointed I wasn't going to order alcohol. The bartender also left the bar multiple times for stretches of time. Which maybe explains the less than hot gyoza, and also left me without water multiple times or a condiment tray at another point. I wound up going to get the condiments from a ways down the bar myself. When the bartender was at the bar, there was also a lot of servers that just stood around gossiping while waiting for drinks. At some other point, three staff were sent outside to clean the windows in the front of the restaurant, which definitely dinged the hip ambience of the place a bit with soapy water and squeegee sounds. I just want to say I typically don't like ramen. It's just not for me, BUT this changed my perspective on the dish. We got the steam bun to split as a small appetizer and it was life changing. This was my first steam bun and I was so impressed. The pork was tender and there was a perfect ratio of bun to the stuffing inside. I got the house classic and loved it. Jinya is a nice spot for ramen and other fast-casual Japanese options. I came of a dreary Friday evening and it was packed. So much so, service suffered a little bit. But, to their credit, the staff were super polite and on top of things as much as could be expected. I'd say that's a sign of good management. Also, it's usually fun when you go somewhere that's packed. That's tells me I'm in for something good. I ordered some ramen - the signature sprouting up in tonkotsu broth with added corn and mushroom. The ramen was good and really hit the spot on a chilly evening, especially for someone like me who was fighting off a cold at the time. I also ordered some takoyaki - delicious little squid balls. If you haven't had these before, I definitely recommend ordering them. Perfect for sharing. I also ordered a beer to wash it all down. Omaha has a few ramen shops, but no authentic ones. JINYA is authentic, the broth is flavorful and deep. They don't skimp on the meat, noodles, or fillings like other places in Omaha. You get what you pay for! I tried the Cha Cha Cha (for garlic lovers) and the Spicy Tonkatsu. Both were great. I do think they use MSG though. I felt bloat and crappy both times after eating there. I loved the atmosphere of this place as it was hip, cool and cozy! I got the caramelized cauliflower for an appetizer that was scrumptious, but I do have one complaint. The atmosphere is pretty cozy and fairly busy, but even at 6 on a Friday night we got a table immediately (and plenty of room at the bar seating). I tried the spicy vegan creamy ramen and it was delicious. Our server, J, said it was highly recommended. I did think it was spicy, but not overly spicy. My husband got the JINYA chicken ramen, and liked it, but said he was not blown away. There were many other options, including ones with chicken, pork, shrimp and 2 vegan/vegetarian options. I haven't been to a lot of ramen places in my life so I didn't know what to expect, but I was very happy with the decision to go here! The environment was great, sort of a fancy Asian feel, and we sat at the bar, which was comfortable and out of the way. I have been there for a couple of times since the Omaha store opened and have tried Jinya Tonkotsu Black, Spicy Umami Miso Ramen, Curry, Gyoza (Japanese style pork dumplings), and Kara-A-Ge (Japanese style fried chickens) All of them were great and each one has so much flavor to it like authentic ones we have in Japan. As I'm Japanese, I expected it to be as authentic as possible like Italian loves their authentic Italian pizza and pasta over American style pizza and pasta. Jinya met my expectations in Omaha where needs more time developing. I totally recommend my Japanese friends in town to try out the ramen here if they haven't been there yet. read more

The interior is a lot of fun to check out from graffiti style art on the walls to floral and greenery arrangements hanging upside down from the ceiling. I was here for a working lunch and got a little nervous about slurping down Ramen in front of someone new so I opted for one of the bowls, specifically the California Poke. One of the better ramen places in Omaha, from the ones that I've tasted. This is an long overdue review as I had come two other times since. Over the three separate occasions, I ordered the Jinya Tonkotsu Black Ramen, the Sukiyaki Q Ramen, the Salmon Poke Tacos and the Crispy Chicken. Tonkotsu Ramen (ramen with a pork based broth) has always been my favorite. With a pork base, there is typically an incredible depth in flavor, that makes the broth taste almost creamy. The broth of the Jinya Tonkotsu Black was tasty on its own, but there were a lot of toppings that resulted in a lot of different flavors. Along with the rich pork broth, there were garlic chips, garlic oil, spicy sauce and fried onions. Although a little overwhelming, the ramen is pretty solid. This particular one comes with thin noodles, pork chashu, minced green onions, nori (dried seaweed) and kikurage (mushroom). The Sukiyaki Q Ramen was a little more simple. It includes some thinly sliced beef, minced green onions, and a soft boiled egg in the same pork broth. I really enjoyed how the flavors in this ramen weren't as overwhelming, but still maintained its deep flavor. The Salmon Poke Tacos were decent, during happy hour (3-5PM) they are 2 for $3. Although small, they are quite tasty and pretty worth it for the price (during happy hour). The Crispy Chicken was one of my favorite things. It comes piping hot, with a sort of ponzu sauce on the side and a small salad. The chicken was incredibly tasty, crisp on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. Definitely recommend this next time. Overall, I would return here for food again. One thing to note is that they do get busy and take fairly long with waters, taking orders and food. If it is busy, be prepared to wait awhile for your food. read more

This is the most authentic Japanese ramen restaurant I have been to in Omaha! I'm originally from Hawaii and this place was very comparable to the awesome ramen places we have there. My friends and I got the spicy tonkotsu ramen, and the black garlic ramen with a side of gyoza. For the spicy ramen, you could pick from mild, spicy and hot. I got the mild and that was already pretty spicy in my opinion. They also have other types of Japanese entrees to pick from if you aren't feeling like having some noodles. JINYA is a great ramen franchise if a bit overpriced. I always balk at paying more than $10 or $11 for ramen but wanted to give this place a try. I got the slurp up cilantro and was initially worried that the chicken clear broth wouldn't be as rich as a pork broth, but the soup was delicious and had a deep taste. The chicken breast was definitely dry but the seasoned egg and kikurage were great additions. My sister got the sprouting up ramen and a pork bun. The pork bun was nothing special - the pork was a little mushy - and overpriced at $5. Great ramen spot in Omaha. The place is spendy, though! They have a big menu with a decent amount of options for vegans and vegetarians, including two vegan ramen entrees and a few appetizers. I tried the spicy creamy vegan ramen which was tasty. You can choose your heat level and add whatever you want to your ramen, but each additional topping costs you a dollar or more. Their appetizers are very good as well, I tried the crispy Brussels sprouts which were served super hot and tasted amazing, especially with a mixture of the sauces they have at the table. This place is AMAZING! We were in town for an anime convention and we're looking for good local eats. We found this place and it was so good! We're very familiar with Asian food and ramen, but the sheer variety they had was awesome! I had the JINYA original 2010 ramen, and hubby had the JINYA black ramen. Both were so good! We also got an order of potstickers to share and I had the panacotta for desert. We both got a drink, I got the JINYA old fashioned and hubby got the blue lagoon.
