Went to JINYA Ramen Bar in Ballston with my coworkers for lunch and tried the lunch special the karaage chicken ramen. It was $19 and came with an appetizer (I can't remember exactly what it was, possibly rice cake sushi), which made it feel like a really solid deal. The ramen was delicious, the hot green tea was a nice touch, and the service was excellent. I really enjoyed everything and would definitely recommend the lunch special. Highly recommend this spot!
If you have read any of my reviews, you know that I'm biased to ramen, but this place doesn't need any extra kudos to be good. From its great location in Reston Town Center to the staff, JINYA is a top-notch chain ramen restaurant. I frequent this place a lot if I'm in the mood for good food at a respectable price with excellent vibes. The staff are warm and welcoming, and I've never had a bad experience. I usually only get one of two ramen, and today's choice was the Spicy Chicken (spice level Hot). I paired that with the chicken and salad on the side and used my points to get Brussels Sprouts Tempura (more on points later). All three were excellent per usual, lol. Even though it's the hottest level you can get, it's far from overwhelming, and the Brussels Sprouts are a must-have. I highly suggest anyone that frequents a JINYA location to get the free app and stack points; trust me, it's worth it, lol. Other than the Spicy Ramen, I highly recommend the Birria Ramen. It's a fairly new item, but it's also a must if you like Birria.
Our waitress was kind and helpful, going through the menu since it was our first time. She pointed out her favorites, as well as, dishes that were popular. My husband enjoyed the spicy chicken ramen and I thought the birria Ramen was tasty. My daughters, 3 and 8 years old, had the kids meal. The kids menu was awesome. It came with ramen, a small rice bowl with chicken and pork, crispy chicken, French fries, salad, and orange slice, a lollipop, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I wish I could have ordered that! we shared an order of pork gyoza. Super tasty and tender juicy. I'd like to come back to try more and have a cocktail.
This rating is based almost entirely on the Birria Ramen, which was fantastic. It is a unique blend that works great as a ramen bowl and I loved every bite. However the green tea was nothing special, just a typical store-bought teabag. The atnosphere is trendy-casual, but everything feels overpriced for a simple bar-focused food spot. The service was ok but not great. The selection of ramen and rest of the menu feels like it needs more variety. If the birria ramen wasn't as good as it was I would give 3 stars.
We visited here on a whim during our stopover. Our waiter was more than helpful. I tried the JINYA Tonkotsu Black and my friend tried the Wonton Chicken Ramen. We enjoyed them both and this was just what we needed on a cold day. We also tried the Edamame and JINYA bun as starters. We order 2 Jinya buns as one order only includes one piece. The pork was a bit on the tough side, and not as tender, but it had a good taste to it. Overall, it was a pleasant visit and we were satisfied. There was plenty of seating indoors and the noise level was moderate.
Amazing change of pace! My boss recommended it to me to try and it was absolutely a unique experience. I was sat at the bar as I was a party of one... but the bartender Ivan was super and very friendly. I debated having an appetizer the Bun looked fun, but I just wanted an icy cold beer and a nice dish to try. I started with reasonably priced Sapporo on draw which I have never had! Perfect... then Ivan helped me navigate the ramen dishes and I opted for the Tonkotsu Red at the 5 level out of 10 heat level. It was perfect as the more you ate the spicier the heat build. My first venture to a ramen bar and I enjoyed the dish! The pork slices and egg were very tasty. The flavors from the broth with the seaweed coupled with the fresh green onions made it something else. The bar was noisy and the lighting at the bar was tough had to use my phone flashlight lol! Definitely think I would come back and try something else off the menu even more unique!
Great raman in a hip and trendy atmosphere. I always love to get their Tonkatsu Black with thick noodles. Their broth is always so delicious and filled with umami. This time we also got the Tonkatsu Red- with spice level 4. I might get #3 next time, so it's not so spicy and I get to enjoy the broth more. We also enjoyed their Match lychee lemonade and Match tiramisu for dessert.
We went on a Monday shortly after they opened for lunch, so not too many people inside a restaurant. It was very quiet. Service was very friendly and attentive . We like the interior decor. It was modern and contemporary. Ramen was delicious so was gyoza. The sauce for the grilled vegetable was a bit too sweet. I truly enjoyed their Asian flavored cocktails, especially the matcha cocktail was made with fresh mixed Matcha right by the table side. That was a wonderful experience. Convenient location with street parking offered by the rest shopping area also nearby garage to access. Price is on the slightly pricey side, but comparable to the area . Looking forward to try this restaurant in different locations for comparison.
My wife and I decided to go checkout the Jinya in Reston Town Center since we were in the area and absolutely love Ramen. We went on a Sunday which was perfect because it wasn't crowded in the restaurant at all. We started with drinks and both ordered the Malibu Sunrise which was very tasty. We ordered the Crispy Chicken as an appetizer and we both ordered the Birria Ramen as our entree. The Crispy Chicken was excellent! It was nicely fried, juicy, and well seasoned. The sauce that came with it only added to it. My wife and I usually get the Shrimp Wonton soup, but we decided to switch it up this time and try the Birria Ramen. The Birria Ramen was sooooo good that it had us both thinking why we hadn't tried it earlier. This instantly became our new favorite Ramen! I then ordered the Smokey Wokashi OF and my wife ordered the Ringo Mule. Both drinks came with a show as fire was involved to give the drink a smoky flavor. As great as the food was, the service here fell a bit short for us. The bartender there was our waiter and he did the best he could to try to manage the bar, make drinks for the restaurant, and also be a waiter at the same time, but it was too much. It was not many people in the restaurant when we first arrived so it was somewhat manageable. But the restaurant slowly got more crowded during our time there and it was no way the bartender could keep up with the amount of people there to essentially do 3 jobs. Im not sure if they are short on waiters and understaffed, or maybe someone called out. But, we had to constantly flag him down for things whenever he wasn't busy and had a break from all of the other things he was doing. This is no fault of the bartender, but the fault of the establishment for not having enough waiters to the point where the bartender has to play double if not triple duty. Hopefully this was a one off situation.
Jinya is our favorite ramen place but I got to know it is only the Jinya located at mosaic district.we visited The reston location recently and found a huge difference in ramen flavor. I ordered the spicy chicken Ramen and the broth tasted like spinach blanched water and there were 4 bean sprouts and lots of plain noodles which didn't soak up flavor at all. We also got the garlic rice with biryabeef on side. The beef was 5$ extra and we were surprised to see 1 spoon quantity. We usually get the same order in Mosaic Jinya and let me tell you the taste is incomparable. Not coming back to the reston location.

Nice restaurant located in a trendy neighborhood. It was not too busy on a Sunday evening and we were seated right away at a long table with bar top stool. Wish there are hooks where we can put our bag and jacket. It has a nice bar area with large TV screen. First thing we learned was that the restaurant originated from Japan. Was surprised that this restaurant with 40+ locations in the US doesn't have a location in the tri-state but then maybe there is too much competition there. Appetizers such as gyoza and takoyaki were good. The pork belly bun was a bit disappointing with lots of fat and pretty pricey for one. We decided to stick to its signature food which is the ramen. The tonkotsu original was great. Loved its thick noodle. The limited combo of the ramen and two pieces of crispy fried chicken was a great idea. The chicken ramen with vegetable soup was delicious. It was our first time here and this place is AMAZING! Service was great, drinks were delicious, and food was so so tasty! Dogs are allowed in their patio and they will bring your pup and water bowl which we always appreciate since we take our pup everywhere. I worked at multiple restaurants as a server and bartender and always appreciate good service and this place does this! Everyone was attentive from our server, to our food runner, to the manager who took the time to do a round and check-in to people dining even those in the patio, to the busser. 10/10 recommend ! read more
Jinya has a wide selection of ramen options as well as other rice bowls and appetizers. The chicken karaage was quite delicious. The broth had a really strong flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Though the chicken was in the broth, it still maintained a slight crispy texture. Our server was very attentive and brought our food out in a decent time and we did not have to wait long. Additionally, the staff in this location is very attentive. I had been craving a bao bun for months and months, and Jinya delivered on that dream and so much more! Everything in this visit was just fantastic. We were greeted extremely warmly when we first walked in. The setup is so cute, it just feels warm and modern and hip. There are so many options for the ramen. But back to that bao bun- we got that for an appetizer and I swear I could've eaten at least 7 more. They were SO GOOD! So good, so good, oh yeah and sooo good!!! It was everything I had been wanting for a long time. And then the ramen: the spicy is wonderful! There's a great array of add-ins so that you can get your bowl just how you want it. If you enjoy Asian cuisine with a modern flavor JINYA Ramen is the place for you. The lychee margarita is a explosion of sweet tropical taste. The food presentation is a 8/10. Flavor ranks 7/10. The pork bowl could use more sauce to prevent the rice to overpower the dry taste . Service above and beyond the waitress help with drinks and kept consistency of checking on my group. Solid Ramen spot in Reston! They have great outdoor seating, and service was super quick the Friday night we dropped by. I got the tonkotsu black - which was pretty good. There were a lot of non-traditional takes on ramen on the menu - including vegan and gluten free. It did feel a bit smaller in size compared to other ramen I have had in NY, but nevertheless it was still tasty! If you need a ramen fix, this place can definitely provide you that. read more

Love this place, the Menu choices are great, and the Ramen broths are flavorful. I had the chicken wonton, with chicken broth, chicken wonton (duh), kikurage (wood ear mushrooms), green onions and thin noodles. I substituted for thick noodles and topped it off with crispy onions. Our waitress Deidre was great!!, she gave us the "spiel" on Jinya, and was very knowledgeable of the menu and, very attentive to us. You can't go wrong with this restaurant! Decided to check it out. Ordered food and beer. Oddly the beer was a no show and my wife does not drink when there is food. Of course the ramen came first and then the beer which we sent it back and it was annoying. Meanwhile, the ramen dishes we got were so good any frustration quickly melted away. I had the spicy miso with ground pork. Hello flavor town. It had soba noodles that were fresh and oh so good. As I got down into the broth it got better and better. Possibly a bit heavy on salt but I gobbled it up. My wife had the tonkutsu black which she really enjoyed. Different thinner noodles and less sodium as it was not miso broth. The manager came by with the beers and apologized graciously and offered the beers for free. That was refreshing as many times when restaurants make a mistake nothing is said or done. So kudos to the manager and yes I enjoyed my beer, but more importantly we will return. read more

Introducing Japanese ramen to my fiancé for the first time, I figured Jinya would be the best place to go. I've never been to Reston one so I wanted to visit their place as well. It is definitely less crowded than Mosaic district one, but the interior layout and theme is very nice as any other ones. I noticed that their menu changed since I've visited last time so I wanted to try something new. My fiancé had my go-to, tonkotsu black and I had Jinya chicken ramen. Very nice flavor still. It's savory and thick. Chicken is definitely recommended for first timer but if anyone is up for trying something new, go straight ahead to tonkotsu broth! Their chicken karaage is always phenomenal so it's better that you try it. I loved their dining experience. I want to come back again sometime sooner for different entrees or even for happy hours. I ordered take out as I have a gift card from them but unfortunately they forgot to take my order so I had to wait. I called ahead asking for the spicy chicken ramen and the girl in the phone seemed to be extra busy so I had to tell her to make the spicy level mild as I didn't want to burn my tongue with spiciness. I decided to stop at a couple of stores before since she said it would be 15 min. When I got there she asked if it was online, I said no I had called and she looked for my order in the shelf but nothing was there. She looked at her pad and I guess saw she forgot to put in order. Once she did, she said she would bring it from the kitchen but came back and said it will be right out. I waited a few minutes than asked how much longer and she said it should be out soon since they were very busy. ? I arrived and the place looked pretty empty and realized she probably went to the back to tell them to pack it up right away. After 10 minutes of waiting, finally came out and I ran out of there since I had to pick up my son. When I got home The food was good but utensils were missing. I think if I'm going to pay for a $20 dollar soup I would 1. Expect it to come with napkins and at least a fork and 2. Not have to wait if there's an option of calling ahead. read more
After a subpar first attempt I decided to give Jinya another shot AND I'm so happy I did! I believe it was opening day woes during covid are over and the kitchen and Jinya team have gotten in a great groove! I made a point to re-order exactly what I had the first time. I wanted to make sure that I was able to compare the items and give an honest review. I can tell you that the quality was so much better! The Jinya bun was much better and had a delightful crunch. The toppings weren't overpowering, but rather a compliment to the tasty pork. The guoza wasn't oily and was the perfect texture, chewy with a nice sear. The ramen was FLAVORFUL and I nearly ate the entire thing - I couldn't get enough! The noodles were perfect rly cooked and the ingredients were fresh. I'm so happy that I gave Jinya another try. TL;DR: Super solid ramen spot. Great food. Great Service. Overall amazing experience Ambiance: Came here around 7:30PM on a weekday, and the restaurant was pretty busy! The decor is so cute (mix between modern and themed) and makes you feel warm and comfortable. It is dimly lit, but not so much that you can't read a menu. Table seating was staggered to maintain social distancing as well. Perfect for a date night Service: Everyone was wearing a mask, gloves, and all safety measures were put in place. The hostess was super friendly as soon as we stepped inside. Great way to set the tone. Once seated, we were greeted by our server, Nathan. He was so nice, very informative to any questions we had, and extremely attentive. The runners were also very quick to bring plates for sharing, delicately placed our meals on the table, and cleared our table when needed. The manager, Rafael, was also very friendly. He was going to EVERY SINGLE table, making sure everyone was enjoying their meal and to see if we needed anything. Customer service at its finest FOOD: my favorite part - Lychee martini: Add soju to anything, and I'm there. I'm not a huge drinker, but this martini tasted like juice (up my alley), but it wasn't overly sweet (which usually makes me sick) - It's Santorini Time: My husband loved this drink. It has whiskey in it, and you can definitely taste it, but doesn't overwhelm the other flavors - Takoyaki: I haven't had this dish since I went to Japan, but it was so delicious. It has a tiny bit more filling than I was expecting, but I didn't mind. And there were also big chunks of octopus in each piece. The octopus was also super soft and tender, not chewy! I also like how it was lightly drizzled with sauce and sprinkled with bonito flakes, rather than smothered in both. The egg salad on the bottom was a great addition. Would come back just for this - Spicy Tonkotsu: my husband ordered this one. SO GOOD. I kept going back for more and more spoonfuls of his ramen lol. The broth is just overflowing with flavor. It had the good fullness of flavor, with a little kick of spice - Spicy Umami Miso Ramen: Again. Just wow. I love all things spicy. This had that kick, but wasn't over whelming. This came with ground meat, bokchoy, and bean sprout. Y'all. I don't really like bean sprouts, but I ate ALL of them. The textures of the noodles was also one of my favorite parts about the ramen. They were chewy and delicious, but not in an undone way. UGH. SO GOOD. - Extra side of Chasu Pork: THIS... When we both took our first bite of this, our eye lit up. To be honest, I have only been to a handful of ramen places in the DMV area. But this one is hands down, my favorite one by far. My husband and I try to support local business as much as we can. So glad Jinya has opened more locations and especially grateful for the management at this specific location! was invited to enjoy an evening experience at this specific Jinya location and MUST say from start to finish it was nothing but pleasant. The staff was super attentive, I never once had to ask for a water refill which is rare. all smiles from everyone around us. started off the night with the caramelized cauliflower and bao bun. The cauliflower was delicious! really enjoyed the crunch and flavors. A tad on the oily side, but overall the flavors were all there. the vegan bao bun was as expected: moist, and the vegan meat inside was a perfect touch, almost had me believing it was chicken. for the ramen: a go-to dish for me at Jinya is the Tonkotsu black so I decided to get my usual at this spot. As I like my ramen on the spicier side, after adding some chilly sauce it was made to perfection. From the broth to the noodles to the egg, I have 0 complaints. the Broth had the perfect spicy and pork flavor balance in it. the egg is always my favorite part, was glad it was as creamy and juicy as usual. for dessert, we decided to go with the panna cotta - something I have never tried before. I usually am not a dessert/sweet tooth gal but decided to go for it this time around. I was pleasantly surprised by how light and sweet this was. was not expecting what we had: a nice jello-type texture for caramel and vanilla flavor topped with some ice cream and crumbs. the taste wasn't too sweet and the serving wasn't too heavy, definitely recommend it. hope everyone comes to this spot, the staff here is such a pleasure and the food is one of the best ramen spot in Northern VA! read more

To start, they have very good protocols in place for Covid having guests distanced well throughout the restaurant. They also have the most friendly staff that I have ever encountered. Our server, Max, was an absolute delight. He was very caring about making sure we had what we needed but also interacted with us cracking jokes here and there. He felt more like a friend than a server. The manager on this evening was Andrew and he was also great. He stopped by our table and checked in on us as well as striking up conversation. Everyone was so personable while also providing excellent service. In terms of food, we ordered takoyaki to start. This fried octopus dish is a must order. Cooked to perfection and garnished with a savory sauce, you are truly missing out if you don't go for this. For the main course, I ordered the spicy chicken ramen. One of my favorite comfort foods in the winter time is ramen, so no better time to try out the ramen at Jinya Ramen Bar! Jinya Ramen Bar opened up in RTC recently in August! I had such a great experience here: not a lot of people so all customers were spaced out, great service (shoutout to Andrew and Carolina), and amazing food. Check out what we got below: Small Plates: Jinya Bun - steamed bun with slow-braised pork chashu and jinya bun sauce and kewpie mayo. Very soft and tender! Takoyaki - battered octopus over egg tartar topped with kewpie mayonnaise, okonomiyaki sauce, and smoked bonito flakes. A friend and I had dinner at JINYA the other night. It was perfect, comfort food for the cold weather in our area. For a Wednesday night though, it was busier than I expected! The decor inside the restaurant is modern and the location is very spacious. They are following covid-19 safety protocols - all staff wore masks, the tables are spaced apart and you scan a QR code for the menu. Our server was super helpful with any questions we had and very attentive. Between him and the extremely welcoming manager Rafael, our service there was 100%! For drinks, we ordered the lychee martini and a lemonade mocktail. The lychee drink was so good. The slight taste of alcohol can sneak up on you so be careful! As a starter, we ordered the creamy shrimp tempura. Very good flavor, but can we talk about the shrimp? Fresh, huge and firm quality shrimp. We both ordered the same bowl of ramen - Spicy Umami Miso Ramen with an egg, fried onions and corn. The broth was tasty, delicious and full of flavor and the ramen noodles were cooked perfectly. This definitely hit the spot for me and I finished the ENTIRE bowl before I knew it! We were too full for dessert, but ordered the panna cotta to go. Went to Jinya for dinner last night with a friend for the first time after great recommendations. Overall the experience was great! The ambiance is great both inside and out. They clearly took time to decorate the inside well. The staff is all very friendly and our server was great! She checked on us a lot and made sure our drinks were always good. The salmon avocado appetizer was yummy. My Shrimp Wonton ramen was good. The ramen was cooked well and the broth was good. (It looks red but it is not spicy at all as I am a weenie with heat!) I realize the town center tends to be more expensive but my only issue was that the ramen was not necessarily worth the high cost. Around here the average bowl of ramen is about $10 and the average bowl here was $15. However the ingredients seem to be fresh. The wontons in the soup seemed homemade and the ingredients tasted fresh. It is not your usual cheap bowl of ramen. My only criticism is that I wish the broth was a bit thicker. My favorite Tonkotsu broth is a thick milky white and theirs was just a tad bland for me. Otherwise everything was delicious!!! If you want a nice date spot or a nicer place to get ramen for dinner this is the best restaurant to go to!! They are spreading tables out and wearing masks. read more
