Stopped here on the way home while in area, and thought that we would give it a try, as one of our favorite restaurants is the Carbon Rd. Jioio's. We thought this would be the same experience, and opted to give them a try since we were closer to here. Unfortunately, we were wrong. As huge fans of the other location's pizza and pasta, this did not meet expectation. The crust was about the same, albeit slightly sweeter. The sauce, though--WAY BEYOND over sweet compared to the other Jioio's, and much thinner. Again, please know--we were expecting sweeter sauce, since we love Carbon Jioio's so much. This was over and beyond.... As an app, we tried the Deluxe Garlic Bread, something we always get at the other Jioio's. This was okay, but a bit more soggy than the other place would have been--and again, that red sugar syrup sauce.... I tried the veal parmesan, and while I loved the amount of cheese they put on top, the same WAY OVER sweet, thin sauce, was used on it and the spaghetti side. It was so thin that it wouldn't even stick to the noodles. And, again, about put me in diabetic shock. The veal itself was something I would expect to get in a hospital or school lunch. A soggy, terrible ground up patty that absorbed up all that red sugar water they were trying to pull off as Joio's sauce. The side salad they gave was great portion, though, and I really liked their bleu cheese dressing. The service, however sweet-tooth cracking the food was, was phenomenal. You can tell the restaurant has been around for a while, and has an old-school family feel. As super-fans of the Carbon Joio's, I can't ever see myself returning here. I'm telling you....once you've had the Carbon Jioio's, you won't be able to stomach eating the sauce here. It's THAT thin and sweet. I guess the moral of the story is consider what you want to get. If you want pizza and pasta, go to the other one. Otherwise, I am sure this would be okay for other food items. Just not the veal...... read more

The food deserves a 4 but the service a 2. Very slow and inconsistent service. But focusing on the food, the unique pizza and the salads are great. I no longer live in the area and it had been quite some time since I had eaten at Jioio's but it was just as good as I had remembered. The wedding soup was very pathetic though. It was mainly broth with very little pastina and only 1/2 of a small meatball. If that's what Jioio's passes off as wedding soup they should probably just scratch it from their menu and focus on pizza only. read more

SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. We arrived at 5:30 placed our order for a LG Pepperoni Pizza and a Hamburger w/Fries. At 6:10 I asked how much longer for our order. The waitress said she'd go ask, but you could tell she annoyed. She finally came out a 6:14 saying it would be another 7 minutes. We waited until 6:30 still no good no waitress. Meanwhile 2 tables behind us also who were questioning the time frame for their order. They ordered pasta dinners and came in about 5 minutes after us. And the a 3rd table started talking to us and the other table they to hadn't gotten their order. And all this time order after order people coming and and going out with take out orders. But no one in the restaurant we're getting theirs. We ended up leaving. Paying only for the ice tea we ordered. I only paid for that because my husband said I had to. read more

My wife ordered the cheese ravioli and I had the lasagna. We. Each took our first bite and nearly spit it out. It was so sickening sweet that they could have put whipped cream on top and sold it as a lasagna sundae!!!!!! So slow, food, particularly the appetizers were AWFUL. We have eaten here on occasion, but, this will is the last time. The restaurant was EXTREMELY cold. Nearly half of the patrons had to wear jackets. Ok, I get it, it's hot back in the kitchen. Well, I hate to break it to them... it's NOT about the restaurant staff. It's about the customers. You keep this up and you'll be nice and comfortable in the kitchen with no one to cook for. Here's an idea, start by closing half the HVAC vents in the dining room. Waitress was friendly, no problem there. Spaghetti was cooked perfectly but the sauce was watery and wasn't even close to sticking to the pasta. Small pizza was cooked and nicely browned on the bottom... pepperoni was sparse and flavorless. I haven't been here in years, it was really like the first time, and it was good... After many years, I had the opportunity today to eat here. My wife and I shared their stuffed breadsticks, had their house salad, and choose the same dinner - a meatball late covered in cheese and all goodness. Service was too-notch, and took care of us tirelessly. My only complaint was the sauce - it was sweeter than I had had in recent and long memory. Not inedible, just sweeter than I prefer. They lie about refunding your money if you don't like their pizza. There's a big sign that says the would gladly refund or replace your order if you don't like it. Well i was camping about 12 miles away and didn't get a chance to come back the night i bought their pizza and the lady would only refund me $10 on a $24 order. Saying that sign is for "Same Day". That's false advertising. I've never tried their pizza before, drove past it hundreds of times in the years Ive been camping by Keystone park and figured I'd try it. I too like a sweet sauce. But not plain sugar on burnt toast. Oh, i ate half of one piece of pizza. So it's not like i was trying to return half a pie. I should've listened to the other reviews. This place is a must stop every time I'm near Latrobe Pa. The crust is as original as it gets, it's what facilitates the pizza experience at Joios. It's what I would think the original "pie" would taste like. It's almost pie tasting. The crust is thin and fragile and it goes perfectly with their homemade sauce. First time there. Was seated. Took 25 mins to get my drink. Soda was horrible. Was flat and old as dirt. Order a large pizza with extra cheese. An hour goes by and still waiting on our order. People came in 15 min after we were seated and they literally were given drinks, food and left before the waitress decided to ask us what we were waiting on. We said our food! A min later she came out with our pizza. It had to of been sitting for a very long time in the back because it was beyond cold. Never got refills and to say service was beyond poor is an understatement. Pizza was incredibly sweet and tasted like crap maybe because it was old idk. We ate and left. Jioios is a staple in my family and it has been for years! We have always had good experiences with the workers and the pizza. Their pizza has been consistent throughout the years. I do think the inside and outside of the place needs to be remodeled/revamped. It's very outdated. This is also a pizza that is VERY SWEET. Not only is the sauce sweeter but It's crust is like a pastry. So please keep that in mind. Overall I enjoy this pizza when I come back home to see family, but this isn't a pizza I would want all the time. Sometimes the sweetness of the pizza doesn't satisfy my hunger. read more

I am very unhappy with the service I received. I planned a Bachelorette evening for my bridesmaids so we could wedding plan and get hair and make up squared away so I ordered the family deal(large 1 topping and salad) and the. I also ordered a party pizza and added a topping of pepperoni..I spend almost 60.00 on pizza. I called when they first opened so that I could have it done at a specific time and pick it up. I picked it up and it was horrible!! It was cold, it was burned, and I was missing the topping that I paid extra for. I ended up throwing more than half of the pizza away as noone would eat it. I called Joios THREE times to talk to a supervisor and was told each time that they had to talk to another manager and would call me back.. I am now going on 3 months waiting for that call back.. Jioio's is a great, family-friendly restaurant. If you're hoping for a traditional cheese pizza, this is not the place to go, but they have the most unique pizza I have ever had. It is baked on a flaky, buttery, dessert-type dough. Trust me, you just have to try it! Their cheese pizza is sweet, and their pierogi pizza is savory! All of my friends who live in the area rave about this place and I agree that it is a great place, with great food, run by great owners! I tried a side of spaghetti, I prefer homemade and a sauce that has some spices, I found it to be sweet with little spice and a simple "out of the box" spaghetti, however it was priced accordingly at $2.95 for a side. Also tried the mozzarella sticks, if you like tasty or spice, this is not the selection for you. Ordered take out from this location. Keep in mind they are separate from the Jioio's in Greensburg. Take out included the following: 1 chicken parm dinner, 1 lasagna dinner, and 1 rigatoni dinner. We have eaten in the restaurant before many times and they are always great. Well, got the food home, opened the container to find that the one meal (rigatoni) was dry as a bone with just a painting of sauce on the top. We were crunched for time, thus why you would get take out, so we had to eat the dry rigatoni. On the way back through (about an hour later), stopped at the restaurant to show them pictures of how bad this meal was (which is sad because they do such a great job). One of the waitresses simply said we cannot do anything about this but give you more sauce...... hey....the meal has been eaten...what the heck would we do with a cup of sauce. We said, this spaghetti meal was just so dry and she said...well it is rigatoni and there is nothing we can do about it. So instead of addressing the problem with a valid solution, they turned to correcting what the meal was called. We were left there standing while the waitress went to get the "boss" who was "too busy" to come out and address the problem. Come on guys....DO BETTER. You have a great business and food, don't lose your family friendly atmosphere over attitude. Correcting people instead of correcting problems is not the way to gain business. This experience brought me back to a situation I watched unfold at the restaurant where a gentleman wanted a refund for some quality concerns and it was a big argument with ownership. read more

Wife and I when on a Friday evening around 5pm. We got a table in 5 mins. Took 30 mins to get a menu. Of course no hot beverages. Then another 30 mins to get a Pepsi. We ordered the chicken parm and a grilled chicken salad. 1 1/2 hours later we got our food. Food wasn't bad but wasn't great. 5 waitresses 4 cooks couldn't keep up with the 20 tables. They need to stop the call in and online orders and focus on the people in the dining room. They also need a non family management. read more

What a fascinating restaurant! On my first visit, this pizza was not my favorite to say the least. However, every time I visit, I find myself liking this pizza better and better. From the first bite I ever had of Jioio's to now, it's remained consistently one of my favorites. The quality is always consistent and always superior. The crust and sauce are both sweet, which is unlike any other pizza I've ever had. My favorite toppings to get on Jioio's pizza is pepperoni and sausage. The combination complements the sweet sauce and crust perfectly. Pictures and reviews of their pizza definitely do not do it justice. We parked on the wrong side unknowingly. When you walk in that door you walk into a heavy metal door unmarked. I thought we were going in the wrong place at first. The zucchini was good but greasy. We needed to pat the grease off. The sauce was really sweet. The pretzels were soggy on the bottom. The mashed potatoes tasted instant. The stuffed shells were swimming in sauce. Jioio's is a hometown legend . I was hesitant to go due to their reputation of being unfriendly and unclean. I was therefore surprised to have a very friendly server and good service. The food is good; I was impressed with the quality of the fried zucchini which had a delectable crunch to its breading. The sauce is, to me, sickening sweet, but that's the way the house has made it for eons, and so it is to be expected. The pizza was hot and tasty, with a pie style crust. Dirty, dingy, disgusting, furniture falling to pieces. Took forever to get the food, horrible service, and I didn't even get to decide what I wanted to tip them after such a horrible experience, they decided what they wanted to tIp themselves and added it on. Then they blamed it on not knowing how to use the new equipment that printed out the bills. This my 1st time here, and most definitely my last time to visit. Well, my brother-in-law is the foremost spokesman for Jioio's. He went in with the disclaimer that I would eithet love or hate this pizza. I actually fall in the middle. As far as different pizza goes, this place is far from cookie-cutter. The sauce is very sweet. I honestly was luke warm about the sauce. The crust was top notch.
