Best kept secret on Walnut street! Whenever I want to study at a coffee shop, I always end up at Jitters. While Coffee Tree Roasters across the street always seems to be full, I can always find a table at the much-smaller Jitters. Their coffee, especially their dark roast, is fantastic. They have different brews every time I visit and they have all been wonderful. Jitters also sells food and ice cream which is nice if I want something to eat as well when I'm doing work. The staff is also super friendly. I totally recommend this place. read more

I came here to get an iced coffee to jumpstart my work day and was pleasantly surprised at how refreshing the coffee was. It had half the amount of ice a typical iced coffee from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts has and that's what won me over. Iced coffee that becomes too watery too quickly ruins my coffee experience so thank you Jitters for making that! On top of this the blueberry muffin was delish. It had an over abundance of blueberries in it and was moist (gross word I know) on the inside. Will come again! read more

I am definitely a fan of this place, as compared to all other coffee shops on Walnut, it is not packed. They have great coffee, and delicious homemade cookies etc. Their hot chocolate is the best. The only reason why I wouldn`t give this place a 5 star is that their tables are super tiny, and because of the size of the place, if you are a group of more than 2 people, it is very hard to sit at the same table altogether. The worker there was so nice. I had a child with me at the time and she made a little bit of a mess with a cookie. Who am I kidding, she made a huge mess. I asked for a broom to clean it up off the floor. The worker looked at me confused and was like, "thank you so much for offering, but we got it." Staff is very friendly - made a specialty recommendation for me when I told them it was my first time in. I got an iced London Fog which is nothing short of delicious if you're in the mood for something out of the ordinary! Drinks are served in real ceramics/glassware if they are for dine in, which is always a plus for me. Additionally, the atmosphere is light and airy. All the outside seating was (unfortunately) taken, but the inside was bright and had lots of natural light. Will return when in Shadyside next! read more

When I wake up in the morning on the weekend, Jitters is where I go for coffee. There's nothing wrong with the Coffee Tree, but Jitters is a little bit closer, and a little bit less busy, and that's all it takes for me. The coffee's good, the prices are reasonable, and the line's never long. The folks who work there are really nice, and all together the place just leaves you with the sensation that you enjoyed your coffee experience. Unfortunately, I can't speak for the ice cream. I'm not much of a sweets guy. But it's a nice, quick place to get a decent cup of coffee. read more

Jitters definitely has good coffee and ice cream, but as others noted, the service can be a little hit or miss. The ice cream here is hand made without any preservatives. The baked goods are from Prantl's, so they're localy sourced. In the fall and winter they have a good pumpkin spice latte. One thing I noticed: theyhaven't updated their website in awhile. read more

Great laid back atmosphere. Lots of regulars, and the staff are really friendly and know their coffee! Haven't had anything here besides drinks, but I hear the ice cream is from Dave & Andy's which I know is superb ice cream! Been here a few times to try and do work as well on my laptop. The internet is fast and fine....when there's less than 4 laptops connected to it. Have been here a couple times when I'd constantly get kicked off of the network - frustrating. So if you're looking for a cafe to spend a day in, sadly I wouldn't recommend coming here, just because the connectivity is unpredictable. read more

So I was just in today to meet my brother for a coffee. Started out fine, we got a couple of teas and sat down by the glass wall to the right of the counter. We were chatting and about half an hour later someone came in and began vacuuming the floor around near us and the door, and while a little loud, it was fine. The problem came when he started to vacuum under my brothers chair. Then under the table where we were still sitting. When he started to hit my foot with the vacuum wand I stood up to get out of his way, but come on. This is appalling that the choice was made to vacuum under an occupied table at 11:30 in the morning in a crowded cafe. The barista actually said have a nice day when we were leaving, but he wasn't aware of anything wrong because he was on his phone the whole time. I will be having a nice day, but I won't be coming back to your place. read more

Like the other commentators, I feel the service can be hit or miss, mostly because the lack of a clear location to form a line, but it is generally excellent. I've been here twice now. Like what many other reviewers have said, the attitude of the baristas are subpar. I came in around 8:40pm on a weekday, planning to stay till closing to read my book. After I ordered, I asked for the wifi password to which the barista responded "we are closing at 9 today actually". I bought the drink so that I could stay at the cafe, which means that early closing information was pretty important to me as a customer. The drinks here are at about the same level as Coffee Tree Roasters. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend coming here - a little dingy, and definitely not worth the poor service. read more

I worked on Walnut St. for 6 years and I think Jitters is the best coffee shop in the neighborhood if not the city. I'm a simple drip coffee and bagel kind of guy. Prices for which are very reasonable not only for being on such am over priced street but just in general. Coffee is always great and offerings change daily. Bagels are the best i have had in Pittsburgh. I appreciate the simplicity of the place and the no desire in being super hip. Jitters is a great little coffee shop with a few unique qualities. First, they have Dave and Andy's ice cream, which is a Pittsburgh classic and arguably some of the best in the country. Their bagels and pastries are freshly baked and particularly good. Lastly, it's right on walnut and a great place to people watch on a summer night. read more

I have not been as much as I would like to in this place but I can see me going there more often. After remodeling the place it was a nice open feel that really welcomes you to the place. Their selection of coffees, beverages and "food" is comparable to any other coffee shop in the area. In addition, they serve ice-cream, which is a big plus! The atmosphere is nice and quiet, appropriate for studying or even just reading your book. They also have a mute TV that you can watch for example the world cup every 4 years :) or whatever else is on. I am quiet sure I will be visiting this place more often in the times to come. read more

A great little neighborhood coffee that's located two blocks from my new place in Shadyside. I'm pretty sure that this place may quickly become my new place to work, and I'm surprised that I never discovered this place the last time I lived in the neighborhood. The people who work here are really nice, and what I love about this place is that most people who come in are regulars. The staff know almost every patron by name (which again speaks highly of the staff). The venue is cute and homey right at the end of the Walnut Street stores. A part of me wishes it was a bit bigger, but I think it would probably lose a lot of its charm if it was built up like the Coffee Tree Roasters across the street. One minor setback I have here is that you have to walk a ways through the building to get to the bathroom, which is a little on the gross side (however the bathroom is for the entire building, so this is probably more of a reflection on the other businesses here as much as for Jitters). Anyways, the coffee here is good, and you get your second cup for free! I look forward to becoming one of the regulars here. read more

Decided to give it another shot after their recent remodel. The open/outdoor plan is a great improvement, and their regulars seem a nice bunch. Service is friendly. The coffee options are pretty limited, as are the pastries. I see an old review that mentions they get pastries from nearby Prantl's. They really should go back to that. I do not generally get ice cream with my coffee, so I can't comment on that portion of the menu. They are in a very competitive location, so they must be keeping their regulars satisfied. I can see myself stopping in here on a whim again, but it won't be a magnet. read more

Came across this cafe because Starbucks and coffee tree roasters were too crowded and I would say I wasn't disappointed. Wasn't looking for anything too fancy so I got a regular cup of coffee it was about 8oz sized cup for under $2 which is not too bad. Coffee quality was ok, not too light which is what I prefer. As for the interior, it's located in some kind of office building so bathrooms are in another location, there is wifi but not much seating as it is a small cafe. I would go back if I'm around the area to try some specialty drinks. read more
