The sashimi is fresh and clean, with that perfect melt-in-your-mouth quality. The chicken teriyaki is also very good, flavorful, tender, and generously portioned. Tonight, Koko's was on point! We got 5 rolls to-go and ordered inside as we were driving near. The owner is an amazing guy, kind and humble. The staff was well trained and respectful. Even though it's small, the vibe is nice. I'd love some music added but that's not important. The sushi and fish was so fresh! Came in here for a quick lunch with family. It was pretty empty so we could sit where we liked. We started looking over the menu for about 5 minutes when two other groups came in, one group clearly came in all the time based on how they were greeted by the server. The one thing that bothered me about this is that after those guests were seated, they were promptly brought water. I noticed this right away and know that we came in before both groups and we were still waiting for service. I was the only one in my group who noticed this, but my family did note how slow the service was. The other two groups had very fast service! We did not get water until we ordered our food. It's the little things...it's awesome to treat your regulars with love but you are preventing your business from getting new regulars by prioritizing them and making other paying customers wait longer. Our first visit, hubs got the Ramen & Roll combination. For ramen, you have options to choose from: shoyu, miso, shio or tonkotsu. Hubby got the tonkotsu and decided to go with the spicy tuna roll for his combo. For me, I decided to select two rolls for lunch. Got the salmon lemon and dragon cut roll. The salmon lemon was SO good! The roll contained avocado, cucumber, sprouts, gobo root and shiso leaf topped with salmon, lemon slices and yuzu pepper. The dragon roll had baked fresh water eel, avocado, eel sauce, krab and more avocado inside. On our returning visit, hubby chose the chicken teriyaki and tempura combo and had 3 rolls to share - Dragon Roll, Spicy Miso Yellowtail Roll and Spider Roll. My wife and I have been going here for almost 10+ yrs over the last few owners. This is one of our typical spots we enjoy going to. The experience has always been good, however last week we went as usual and arrived about 5min before 8:00pm. We know when they close as we go often. When greeted the young lady seemed almost bothered that we were arriving 30min before closing. Bothered enough to even ask if we were ready to order, but even went as far to say "this order will be final order as we are closing". This was an immediate turn off. Don't post hours to 8:30. We were there for a total of 20min and left. Food was good as usual but very turned off on the vibe from staff to order and eat fast and get out! The owner I have met many times and knows who we are. I found this place during my time at Saddleback College. Even though I graduated two years ago, my family and I still make the effort to drive back. The food is high quality, delicious, satisfying, and most importantly, consistent every time we've gone. I especially enjoy their perfectly seared teriyaki chicken and salmon, their hearty tempura, and their katsudon bowl. I don't know what combination of sauces they cook their katsudon in, but it hits the spot every time! I often came here as a student for their great food at reasonable prices. Their prices remain very reasonable to this day, and I greatly appreciate the owner for making his establishment accessible to more people. Most of us cannot afford to pay $20 for a bento box, and at Koko Suhsi, you can enjoy a great meal for far less. Most importantly, the people here are so kind! I've been coming here for years and have never gotten their name, but the owner and female waitress are particularly friendly to my family and I, always welcoming us with a smile.
