We have become weekend regulars for lunch and often arrive at opening so we get the quiet before the lunch rush. It's honestly something I look forward to every weekend. Crazy to say that it's been a hallmark establishment in our rotation for probably the past year or more. More so these days since husband has been optimizing his meals for protein to help his workouts. iykyk. His go-to order consists of chicken teriyaki & sashimi combo and sashimi combo. He's consistent to the point that Luke, the owner, asks whether his order will be the same today, haha. The benefit with double sashimi is that it's pure protein with low calories, so for him it's great because he can reserve some calories for a cheat meal or snack later in the day. For me, I'm not counting macros, so I like to bounce around the menu depending on what I'm in the mood for. I usually go back and forth between hand or cut rolls and the poke salad, but sometimes I get a little adventurous and get my own sashimi. However, the benefit of my husband's meal is that I get to eat his albacore sashimi because he's not a fan, so I usually opt for something else when I'm getting my own thing. Overall, my repeat favorites have been the poke salad, spider roll, salmon lemon roll and anything with yellowtail. My typical go to is anything with salmon sashimi, but Koko's yellowtail is so buttery that I'm a new fan of anything with it. Even as regulars, I still look forward to having a meal here. Plus, the price is unbeatable for their combo meals and it's very reasonable. The combination meals come with salad, miso soup and rice so it satisfies and fills the tummy. read more

Why it took me so long to give this place a shot I'm not sure. It's your typical neighborhood sushi spot with great pricing, great food, and great service. Very clean inside with table and bar seating. My favorite was the spicy miso yellowtail roll for sure. Aloha roll was good, but I'd go with a baked salmon roll next time I want a warm roll. Fantastic little sushi spot. I came up to Irvine for work and didn't want to make the drive back to San Diego on an empty stomach. I stopped her on a Tuesday around 2pm and it was such a chill cool vibe. They had some good music, ample seating, and lots of parking around the restaurant. I sat at the sushi bar and spoke with the sushi chef and laughed a little as I sipped my Sapporo. My food was made quickly and they even added some jalapeños to my food upon my request. Came in here for a quick lunch with family. It was pretty empty so we could sit where we liked. We started looking over the menu for about 5 minutes when two other groups came in, one group clearly came in all the time based on how they were greeted by the server. The one thing that bothered me about this is that after those guests were seated, they were promptly brought water. I noticed this right away and know that we came in before both groups and we were still waiting for service. I was the only one in my group who noticed this, but my family did note how slow the service was. The other two groups had very fast service! We did not get water until we ordered our food. It's the little things...it's awesome to treat your regulars with love but you are preventing your business from getting new regulars by prioritizing them and making other paying customers wait longer. My wife and I have been going here for almost 10+ yrs over the last few owners. This is one of our typical spots we enjoy going to. The experience has always been good, however last week we went as usual and arrived about 5min before 8:00pm. We know when they close as we go often. When greeted the young lady seemed almost bothered that we were arriving 30min before closing. Bothered enough to even ask if we were ready to order, but even went as far to say "this order will be final order as we are closing". This was an immediate turn off. Don't post hours to 8:30. We were there for a total of 20min and left. Food was good as usual but very turned off on the vibe from staff to order and eat fast and get out! The owner I have met many times and knows who we are.
