My cousin took me here, as she claimed it was a must visit, while I was in BC for a trip, and she was right! Even just stepping inside was mind blowing. It was beautiful especially signage. I particularly loved the giraffe. The inside is not big, but it doesn't feel tight. They also have outdoor seating which was nice. Although it was busy, the accommodating service never lacked. So happy to see people enjoy what they do! I ordered the ube matcha with macadamia milk. I didn't even know macadamia nuts could turn into milk!! But it's become my favourite milk alternative. The drink itself was a perfect balance of all 3. I find that usually one over powers the other, but the ube, matcha, and milk all came through. I also ordered the mini cupcakes and they were just right. The cupcake flavours change daily which is great as you will never get tired of it (they post the flavours on their ig story). We also could not leave without the malasadas which was fluffy and creamy and not too sweet! Overall a great experience. Will definitely come back the next time I visit. read more

Customer service was outstanding right off the bat. They had a cute welcome card at our table. One of the owners came to greet and speak with us along with a server pretty much right after we sat down. They took the time to confirm dietary restrictions and explain their menu. We were pleasantly surprised that they offer guests access to their full drink menu including their specials. Ube matcha was good, but had a hint of cinnamon which we could have gone without. The matcha mango was also good. The blackberry lavender matcha was too floral for our liking. However, eventually you get used to it and then it becomes more enjoyable. The pandesals were super fresh and we loved both the ube and strawberry butters that came with it. I wish that they came a bit warmer, so that the butters could have melted a touch. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 sandwiches. I especially loved the arugula on the mozerella sandwich. The blackberry brie sandwich could have used a touch more brie, but was still delicious. The cheesecakes were good, but a bit too sweet. The strawberry was my favorite. I enjoyed tasting multiple flavors. Their red velvet cupcake was extremely moist. The pistachio malasada was cute and flavorful. The filling to pastry ratio was good. I think that the experience could have been better balanced if there were a few more savory items. One thing that we noticed was that all of the pastries including the malasada were cold. I can understand that there are some food safe requirements that need to be met in how desserts are stored. However, letting them sit out for even 20-30 minutes before consumption would have been better. read more

Recently discovered JJ Bakes from the Hot Chocolate Festival this year! Their hot chocolates were stacked with layers and layers of sweets out was a bit hard to say no, so made a drive out to Langley I go! I tried both of the hot chocolate drinks to make the trip worth while. There was the Tiki Torched Brûlée Bliss that has an brûlée donut and sugar coated fruit skewers. And there was the That Flan-tastic Purple Yam that has a tune (purple yam) flavour theme and stacked with lostof Filipino desserts like flan, pandesal,and ube cup cake. The food is amazing and the bakery is gorgeous but the staff is bad vibes and it's off putting.

First time at this place and we're happy with our visit. The place was a bit tight but has more outdoor chairs and tables. There's so much decorations on every wall including live plants. The almost life-size Giraffe was eye catching. Staff we're friendly and accommodating. Most products in the menu has Filipino-inspired ingredients which makes the place unique and different but I find it a bit pricey. This is a good place to try with friends to catch up. read more

I actually never had a malasada before this! We stopped by here on a friend's recommendation and picked up one coconut and two creme brulée malasadas. The coconut had been almost sold out when we got there, and it was quite good. My friend had this one and said it was pretty close to the ones he had in Hawaii. I managed to snag a few creme brulée ones that had just been freshly filled and it. was. amazing!! I had expected it to taste like just a normal filled donut, but the texture was really unique... almost like if a regular filled donut and a Chinese donut had a baby! The creme brulée filling tasted exactly like a regular creme brulée but a more gooey version, and not too sweet. That combined with the crispy but pillowy fried dough was just chef's kiss! I really wanna come back and try more malasada flavours and relax inside the cafe. I heard they offered a Filipino high tea as well, so I might come back for that! read more

JJ Bakes Company is a bit of a drive, but it is 100% worth the time and effort it takes to get here! For $38 per person you can enjoy a Filipino inspired High Tea which they call "Flight to Paradise." Service was amazing. When I arrived, there was a card on the table with my name on it. I thought at first that the card was just for indicating that the table was reserved for Josephine. That alone would have still been quite impressive, but I opened up the card and there was also a message written inside, thanking me for coming to join them at the Flight to Paradise. Wow! Hadn't even gotten to the food yet and it was already feeling like a super classy experience! When the food part of it started, they took away our dirty plates and gave us clean plates twice throughout the experience! Also, as I had requested a Vegetarian set for myself, I was quite impressed with our server's level of awareness as to which of their foods might potentially contain ingredients that would not be vegetarian friendly. I loved all of the flavor combinations. My taste buds were in "Paradise." Ingredients were fresh and portions were very reasonable. The sandwiches and sweets were all dainty and elegant; at the same time, they did not skimp on any of the ingredients. The savories came out first. These consisted of Mini pandesal buns with ube and strawberry butters, as well as some open faced sandwiches with various toppings on them. These were served on plates, and for anyone who's been seeing bird cages on Instagram, don't worry...you'll get the bird cage when it's time for the sweets! One thing that was a bit unusual is that for a High Tea experience, they don't actually have very many tea beverages to choose from. They have Earl Grey, English Breakfast, and herbal tea, a green tea, and Chai Latte. Other than that, it's really more coffee beverages that come with your High Tea, than actual tea. The lady who seated us even said to us, "I'll come back and take your coffee orders!" So in spite of the experience being called "High Tea" and in spite of the fact that they do have tea on the menu, they seem to think it more likely that customers will opt for one of the coffee beverages rather than any of the tea beverages. Well, I guess it's not unreasonable seeing as all 3 of us did indeed choose coffee beverages! I did mention to them that it would be nice to have a few more teas to choose from and also suggested that Rooibos tea might be a good caffeine free option to have. My suggestion was well received so...give it a bit of time and maybe they might have Rooibos tea on their menu?! They currently only serve their High Tea on Sundays and Thursdays. LOVE THE DECOR! How cute is it?! Really immersive experience and so chic. The bakery was previously an online presence and just recently (in June?) opened the physical location. I am so glad they did because their treats were ah-ma-zing. I got the SPICY CHAI, a chai cupcake with honey chocolate ganache. Cute cafe. Their ube is delightful. I tried to pre order the ube cake but they weren't taking next day orders but luckily they had the ube cake in stock the day I came in. There was no room to put happy bday and they didn't have any plaques that could be used so the happy birthday was a bit hard to read at the bottom of the cake. They also didn't have any candles and the cake box itself did not have any handles so it's hard to carry. The customer service was a bit abrupt but otherwise the cake and Ube roll I had was still worth the drive. read more

Wow! Check out their donuts and gluten free cupcakes! The donuts are fluffy and filled full of goodness. They are worth every penny and not your mass produced version, so savoury every bite. The gluten free cupcakes are pricey but worth it if you can't handle wheat but you can't tell it's gluten free if you didn't know. And the cinnamon roll was excellent. The icing was sweet but not overly sweet and you will be mopping up and spilled icing with your finger or bun, it's that good. Going to be a staple to stop in for our sweet treats for sure. Will have to stop in for a coffee and sit and have a treat someday but it seems to be busy in house so people have discovered them. Good service and great bakes for sure. read more

Friendly service and delicious cup cakes! Icing on the cupcakes are a touch sweet but the cake part is just right (not too sweet) and quite moist. I have only tried a couple of things from this bakery/cafe, and both were amazing....the Ube Baby Cupcakes have to be my favourite, followed equally by their Butter Tarts....the butter tarts are enormous, likely enough for two, but I always manage to eat one by myself. Absolutely love this spot. The flavours are so authentic and creative. My favourite thing we tried was the mango cupcake with a delicious whip cream topping with a slice of fresh mango on top. It is to die for. The bruha brew we had to drink and it was so yummy and not too sweet! We also tried the soft puffy donuts they have with ube, coconut and mango calamansi filling. They were all so good but the coconut was my favourite! This place is a gem and I loved the vibe of the cafe and the services was great.
