I stopped by JJ China restaurant to pick up my order I called in. I got a four seasons and a seafood delight. Needless to say I parked and I ate my four seasons in the car the flavor was off, but the ingredients were fresh and normally in the four season you at least get four shrimp. I only got two shrimp in the car now if that being said, I ate the seafood delight the next day. I split it into two meals, so I ate the first portion and went on with my day and later that night, I heated my food and began to eat the second portion. I love seafood. I'm a big shrimp person so like if you give me bad shrimp I won't buy food from you again their shrimp was fine. It was actually a crab meat that was not fresh. And on my spoon, I had some of the crab meat and I was like oh is that a piece of hair and I went to pull it off to check so I put it on the napkin because I thought it was hair. So then I'm checking through my food and then I find a few more pieces so total three. And I was like what's that attached to the hair? Yeah no it was not hair. It was a spider a daddy long leg spider and if I have three legs here, does that mean I ate the other legs, the other legs probably didn't make it in the container. All I know is I'm pissed off about it. And on top of that, I'm afraid of spider and you just fed me Spider. I will not eat your restaurant again. And I mind you I ate the four seasons in my car in the dark there's no telling what I actually ate. That makes me afraid. And there will be no resolve.

Tried one more time. I need a better Chinese place locally. The spring roll was super peppery. They didn't send duck sauce or soy sauce. The general tsaos is not spicy at all and actually has a sweet sauce. The fried dumplings weren't bad.

They gave me uncooked chicken and their excuse when I called to get it resolved was "the cook gets busy and sometimes he doesn't cook everything all the way through". Not sure how that's okay and also my compensation was egg rolls when I order there again which I never will. Please shut this place down.

Bottom line: JJ China is your typical Americanized-Chinese type of restaurant and has good offerings for the most part. I was disappointed with the wonton soup but the other things I have tried have been pretty good. You can definitely get your Chinese food fix here, A-OK by me. The Deets: JJ China is located near Food Lion and Walgreens at the intersection of Davis Dr. and Morrisville-Carpenter Rd. It appears just like many of the strip mall Chinese restaurants do. Its menu is the usual Americanized-Chinese type menu with no surprises. The furniture and interior has seen a little bit of wear and tear but the space is clean and nicely maintained for business, welcoming. It appears to be family run, and my interactions with the staff have been positive. Again, no surprise on the offerings there...my last visit I chose steamed dumplings, wonton soup, and chicken with cashew nuts which I ate there at the restaurant. The steamed dumplings were good, I enjoyed them...not too doughy and not too thin, good stuffing taste. The wonton soup, well, I was a bit disappointed with. The soup lacked flavor, not a lot of taste to it. I usually look forward to the wonton soup about anywhere I go but this one was lacking for me. The main entree of the chicken with cashew nuts was nice...lots of flavor in the usual type of sauce, good sized portion with a good amount of chicken, and crunchy (not overcooked) vegetables. You can buy a drink in their cooler (cans, bottles, etc.) to accompany your meal. One tip: the chopsticks are not out with the napkins, plasticware, etc. so you will have to ask for chopsticks if you want to eat with them. In all, JJ China is what you would expect from a shopping center Chinese restaurant, they are A-OK in my book.

Fast, but not good. The rice was not flavored, and it did not look or taste authentic. The garlic chicken wings tasted like dish soap.

Rice is well-cooked and complimentary. Staff/servers are efficient, patient, polite, and always carry a pleasant demeanor despite their busy tasks. The lunch special pricing is definitely the main draw, and it's hard to beat for the amount of food you get. That said, the execution is a bit mixed. The General Tso's chicken was very bready, with not as much actual chicken as I would've liked, which took away from the overall experience. Another downside is that they've removed the free soup that used to come with the lunch special. It's a small thing, but it did add value before and is missed. One more thing for me is that they have no ice, so you are having luke warm water or drinks. Overall, it's not bad for a quick, affordable meal, but there are enough small drawbacks that it lands more in the average category. Decent value, just not something that stands out.

Simply put, everything we ordered was a home run. The soup - Wonton - was splendid. The broth had far more kick, far more substance, far more taste than the stuff we've managed to get at other local restaurants - and more clearly matched what I've eaten in Chinese restaurants throughout Southeast Asia . . . and, of course, in my few trips to Beijing. The egg rolls immediately made me think of this little hole-in-the-wall take-out Chinese joint in Brooklyn that I recall . . . from fifty years ago. The place was situated on the corner of Bay Parkway and 86th street, right at the point where the elevated track for the B train was located - and immediately became my father's first stop as he descended the station's stairs at the end of his workday, leading right to the front door of that cookery. He always ordered an egg roll or two, ate one standing in the entryway to the cook shop, and brought several home. Those Szechuan Garden egg rolls immediately, for me, resonated with the vigorous, deep taste of those Brooklyn delectables. We had a simple fish dinner with white rice, and an eggplant cooked deeply and wrapped in a thin dough covering - never had eggplant that way before and it was, again, a home run. The fish was so very simple, so very tasty - unforgettable. Thankfully, we have enough leftovers to make for another great meal today. We now have a new favorite restaurant near our home in Durham.

The fried dumplings were crispy, not at all greasy, and filled with very flavorful filling, coupled with a perfectly paired dipping sauce. The hotpot... oh, the hotpot, was filled with pillowy fried tofu, fatty and tender beef, cabbage, wood ear mushroom shreds, seaweed, bean sprouts, and a ton of noodles. All of this was swimming in some of the most amazing Szechuan peppercorn broth that was spicy, but not numbing and not overpowering. It was the perfect broth to wrap each ingredient in flavor. It's the only legit dim sum place near Chapel Hill/Carrboro, about a 25-minute drive for us--and we gladly make the trip almost every week. We simply can't get enough of their food! Warning: Everything on their menu is dangerously addictive. You've been warned! Our Favorites 2. Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai / Siomai) -- Steamed pork in a wonton wrapper, perfectly juicy with just the right balance of pork and vegetables in every bite. A delicious classic done right. 6. Beef Onion Dumpling in Chili Sauce -- One of the best dumplings we've had--and we've been to dim sum spots all over the world! The beef is flavorful and juicy, wrapped in a thin, perfectly chewy skin. The chili sauce complements the filling beautifully without overpowering it. Generous portion, amazing value, flawless execution. 9. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun -- Soft, fluffy buns filled with mildly sweet BBQ pork. Comforting, classic, and delicious every time. 11. Egg Yolk Bun -- Lightly sweet custard filling inside soft steamed buns. The perfect bite of dessert to end your dim sum feast. 16. I've had the pleasure of eating some really good dim sum, and while I can admit that the dim sum here will never be as good as places in New York, I can say that they do a decent job and that the experience will be enjoyable for any eater. Rather than delivering dishes on the traditional cart, Dim Sum Asian Bistro uses a menu where you can mark off the dishes that you want. There are a lot of different steamed, fried, and a la carte options that you can choose from. A lot of the basics are done pretty well. They have good pan fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shao mai, and coconut pudding. They also have some other, complex dishes that we really enjoy. Their curry powder turnip cake is some of the best out there. The curry flavor pops and the fry is absolutely perfect. Crispy on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. They also make their chicken feet really well, which is a tough one to do sometimes. I know that there will be some good options. Although Dim Sum Asian Bistro has some good things, they also serve some things that you would just be better off not ordering. They have three different types of rice crepe dishes with meat. Their best is easily the shrimp, and you should stick to that. In fact, I would avoid the beef version at all costs, it is made with a beef paste and the texture was so strange, it was kind of unappetizing! I also think their fried rice could use some work, and I think some items, like their custard buns, could have come from the frozen section. I think my family can be pretty critical about dim sum since it has been a big part of our personal culture. However, sometimes I feel I need to take a step back and look at it broadly. I've come here with some of my friends who don't eat dim sum consistently and they are always wowed by the experience. From that perspective, I can see how this place hits the mark. They serve pretty authentic food and make it taste good. There is always a buzz about the restaurant and people come and go over the weekend. It's no wonder you might have to wait to get a table, Dim Sum Asian Bistro is definitely doing something right!
