My nephew and I had a delicious meal at Peng's this evening. The food was tasty and well prepared. I had the Spring rolls that were filled with a vegetable mix and fried to delicate crispness. My entree was Cashew Chicken. It was a generous serving loaded with bite sized morsels of chicken, baby corn, carrots, peppers, mushrooms and lots of cashews. The helping was so large that I was able to bring enough home for another meal. It was dressed with a flavorful sauce. My nephew started with cheese wontons. Again they were fried to perfection. His entree was sesame chicken. He commented several times on how good it was. The waitress was friendly, polite and helpful. Although the restaurant was not fancy it was clean and pleasant. The prices were reasonable. I will definitely go there again when I am back in this area. read more

This place isn't bad. Came here to get their lunch and ordered myself some chicken and broccoli. This is what I always order when I get Chinese food so wanted to try it from this place. It was so different but in a good way. Kinda tasted like a gourmet dish cause I'm used to what I get in NYC. Also didn't expect there to be carrots but I do love carrots so zero complaints. The Triangle Area has so many fantastic places where you can get Chinese food, but I would not blame you if you fancied Peng's Asian Cuisine. Located right off of I-40 near the airport, Peng's is a great option if you're staying at a nearby hotel or a local! Personally, I always get take-out from this spot and I am never disappointed! The restaurant name would seem to indicate that Peng's offers many different cuisines. I can only vouch for the Chinese food, which I highly recommend. The food is fresh, traditional, and a great value. There is a ton of variety, with plenty of chicken, beef, pork, seafood and rice/noodle options, I'd say at least 6 per category! On the carb end, I think Peng's makes a killer Yang Zhou fried rice, and an even better beef chow fun. The fried rice uses big chunks of meat, and is seasoned appropriately. The chow fun is everything you want in that dish. It's greasy, yet has the perfect level of dryness and salty, but a good salty. We like to call this having the "wok hei". Peng's is also the place where I feel like I'm going to have good vegetable variety. Both their chicken and string beans and their chicken with snow peas are great options to get some meat and veggies at the same time. Plus, Peng's isn't like those take-out places where their dishes are literally what you get. The chicken with string beans had other veggies like onions and bamboo to give the dish other flavors and textures. If you're looking for something vegetarian, their eggplant casserole is a great options. Lastly, I have to talk about their fish with soft tofu. This dish is so good, and something you can't find from many places. It's a spicy dish that consists of fish, tofu, and a lot of chili oil. It's my favorite thing here, it's got that intimidating spicy look to it, but leaves you with a tolerable burn in your mouth that excites your palate. The fish are plump and so tasty! Other than having fantastic food, take-out service is quick and efficient and the portion sizes are absolutely reasonable. Returning after Covid. Finally we were able to return to this place. Same hospitality. Great food. Tried different dishes Fried noodles with beef was pretty good. My son loved it. Beef was very tender. Tofu with fish was pretty good as well. I'd suggest with thinner slices of fish to be more flavorful. Love the tofu in it. We asked for the mild version. This was a pleasant surprise. I was looking for a place near the airport to get takeout on my way home and happened upon this place. Don't be deceived by its modest decor. The food is really delicious and authentic. I actually loved everything we ordered - mapo tofu, the string beans with ground pork, the. fish and tofu with hot chili sauce, the sweet and sour chicken, and some kind of spicy noodle I can't remember the name of. This is a great place to go when you don't want to beat a crowd, pay ridiculous prices, and you just want to eat good, authentic Chinese food. read more

We ordered takeout from Peng's last night, and the food was really delicious and high quality. I am very sensitive to the quality of meats used in foods and don't like anything gross that isn't lean, tender meat, and the beef and broccoli was delicious and met the test. Although I normally don't have trouble ordering online, it took me a while to get an order placed for pick up. I was text a message that said it would be ready at 7:30. I got there right on time. The front door was locked. A note was on the front door said to call the number to place an order or pick up an order. It took several tries before I could get through. I was told that my order wasn't ready and it would be a few more minutes. The gentleman was very nice and apologized. It was ready at 7:45. I ordered the Pork Belly with Garlic and the Pork Fried Rice. I was expecting the Pork Belly to be a little crispier. It was limp and didn't taste cooked. I liked the Pork Fried Rice. It just needed a little more soy sauce for my taste. The hubby ordered the Pad Thai w/chicken. Pad Thai is his go-to Thai dish. He said it wasn't Pad Thai followed with the comment that it was his fault. He broke his own rule of ordering Pad Thai at a Chinese restaurant. He only ate a little of it. The man at the front was very nice and answered all questions about the menu. The food was fairly priced for the quantity and good. We had the Mongolian Beef and Sesame chicken and enjoyed both. The steamed pork dumplings were good as well. We took the food out back to the hotel and the gentleman provided plates, utensils and napkins. I was in town for the weekend. This place is located near the airport and next to my hotel. Their menu showed they offer phad thai. I have ordered really good phad thai before from Chinese restaurants so I decided to give it a try. This place is a hole in the wall. Small and dark, even on a Saturday at lunch time. It didn't feel clean. The wait staff either doesn't speak English, or just ignored me when I asked questions. The man who worked the cash register spoke decent English. When I asked if their phad thai is good, his response was "if you like it, then it is good. If you don't then it is not". That was not helpful. He said we are an "Asian" restaurant that means they offer all Asian cuisine and not just Chinese. I should have gone with my instincts and leave, but I wanted to support small businesses. I ordered the pad thai and hot and for soup. Pad Thai was disgusting. The sauce was not pad thai tamarind sauce. What I got was basically stir fry noodles. It tasted like lo mien, just different noodles.... Oil and fish sauce. The pad Thai noodles were mushy. How can you mess up hot and sour soup??? It was beyond greasy.... And too thick. I threw away the food and went to get Mexican food nearby. Waste of my money. read more

I was in the area and had a hankering for some Chinese. Peng's was nearby so I placed my usual order of Hunan Chicken with steamed white rice and a shrimp egg roll. The entree was delicious! The was an ample amount of chicken and it was cooked nicely. The vegetable medley was cooked equally well also. Party of 8 went on Thanksgiving Day. They were able to seat us all at a table. We ordered a few different entrees and shared. All were very good, Orange Chicken was the favorite followed by Fun Chu noodle. They were not busy so service was very good, we were able to take our time with no pressure to leave. Overall, I just wasn't a fan. I visited this restaurant on a Thursday afternoon around 12:45pm, so I expected to wait a bit since that's prime time lunch hour, but I wasn't antipicating it taking nearly 10 minutes to place my order. After a kind server took my order, it was about another 10-15 minutes wait for my lunch to come out. When I got back to my office and opened the container, I wasn't sure whether to scoff or laugh. I ordered shrimp with broccoli and asked if they could make it spicy, which they did by throwing in some jalapenos and those were tasty. The rest was incredibly mediocre. There were about seven smaller pieces of broccoli, a few mushy carrots, and about eight shrimp. The issue is, it all tasted the exact same - like bland soy sauce! The sauce was extremely loose and runny in the bottom of the container, so the splash probability was heightened, but fortunately, my sweater survived. Now the rice - I asked for fried and I believe it is what I got, but it's sure different than fried rice I'm used to seeing. There were little bits of egg mixed in and it wasn't saturated in sauce, so I actually appreciated the blandness. I was hoping I'd get two meals out of this (as I usually do with Chinese takeout), but this was only enough for one. The total was around $8. I certainly don't think this is anywhere near the best Chinese food as some have mentioned, but that's always subjective. I highly doubt I'll return. read more

Food here is normally to die for- but during this pandemic I think they have one person covering both the phone and kitchen. If you decide to place a takeout order I would recommend you do not ask for alterations. My food didn't turn out that well when I asked for "extra spicy". Normally they add a powder that doesn't alter the flavor but this time they added chilli paste which made everything taste funky. Again- the food here is usually SO good.
