My fried rice Friday journey came back with me to North Carolina and I have not found another place that does it better than Szechuan Garden. Formerly Orient Garden many years ago, this was the spot we would come for some Americanized Chinese food, mainly their sesame chicken. Today, Szechuan Garden is a spot where I will have my weekly fried rice Friday, or even share a traditional Chinese meal with my family. I can honestly say that everything I've eaten from Szechuan Garden has been delicious. A family favorite is their squirrel fish, a fried fish that is covered in sweet and sour sauce. Their sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. They serve traditional vegetables and we love their noodles, particularly their chow fun. They have options that get as traditional as it can get, and we love that! Now, the fried rice that has won over my heart is their young chow fried rice. This is a fried rice with not a lot of vegetables, and a ton of different meats. It has egg, shrimp, chicken and beef! The fried rice is over seasoned and oily, but both in a good way. They make it the kind of way that overloads your taste buds with all sorts of delicious spice and flavor. It's easily one of the best fried rice dishes in the area, no contest. I've also had a bunch of their appetizers on these occasions, their homemade dumplings, their chicken wings and their Szechuan noodles. All of their appetizers pass the test as well! It all tastes fresh, has good flavor and fairly affordable. I can see Szechuan Garden being my go-to Chinese restaurant for the foreseeable future. Whether you need an Americanized dish or something traditional, Szechuan Garden will serve you Chinese food that you will rave about!

My new favorite for all things Szechuan. Called in an order for Spicy Beef with Soft Tofu and another order of General Tao chicken. The beef and tofu was spicy enough but not so much you couldn't eat the dish. Came with. Choice of fried or white rice. The beef was tender and nice bold flavors imo. Absolutely loved it! The general Thai chicken was yummy, had no sesame seeds or scallions on it which was fine with us. It had good flavor, and just right on the breading. Hubby liked it a lot. Said it was slight sweeter than what he is used to but still very yummy. Bottom line, when in the area and want spicy Asian food, this is our new go to. We will define back.

If you're looking for Sichuan food in Cary/ Morrisville area, this is the place to go to! The food is excellent - part of the menu contains American Chinese items while the other part has Sichuan items. We got Dan Dan noodles, Basil chicken and Stir Fried Pea Sprouts With Garlic. All the food items were delicious. We were very happy with our order and enjoyed the meal. This is a small family run business with prompt service. The ambiance was great - not too crowded. The prices are very reasonable compared to other Chinese eateries in town. This is a hidden gem and I highly recommend it.

Atmosphere with the tile walls takes you into the culture. Home made fresh crab Rangoon were great. I got drunken Phoenix which is breaded chicken and fried shrimp in Tao sauce. Amazing!!!!! Sweet and sour chicken fresh made and batter made to order was great. Pork fried rice was one of the best around. Worth the drive. Super slow but I think it's because not many people know of it. Spread the word about this place.

Food: 9/10 - The peking roast duck was perfect. The texture and flavor were just right. - The squirrel tail fish was a little bit too sweet but was still amazing. - Both the fried eggplant and the stir fried eggplant with spicy garlic are great appetizer options. - For the veggie dish, the stir fried water spinach was a great choice and paired well with everything else. Service: 8/10 Ambiance: 6/10

Here's another place I've been to plenty of times and I enjoys the food but never reviewed. Well better later than never, so let's get to it. Inside decor is reminiscent of a Chinese restaurant of yesteryear. But the food is always delicious, hot and always on time for take out!

Szechuan Spicy Noodles - it comes in a quart sized container for takeout.

Tried a few dishes here recently: Dumplings in Chili Oil - large dumplings, pretty tasty. 3/5 Szechuan Spicy Noodles - Peanutty, with a chili oil sauce. Would have been better dine-in rather than takeout so these could be tossed in a bowl to let the peanut sauce and chili oil flavors combine with the noodles. Still good the day after when cold. 4/5 Shredded pork with smoked tofu: Mild dish with shredded green bell peppers, which is not listed on the menu. If it comes with peppers, I'd prefer China Palace (Durham)'s take on this because of the combined taste of the dish and peppers they use. This was fine, I just prefer scallions or celery over peppers for this dish. Plenty of leftovers. 3.5/5 Parking: Plenty in the shared strip mall lot. Service: Friendly, they were doing quite a bit of takeout and some dine-in. Return: Maybe, if in the area again.

Pretty cool incorporating high end Chinese food, and the atmosphere was fancy but cozy. Don't forget to look around, they have lots of cool decorations! As for food, I was a bit underwhelmed. We started with the salt and pepper calamari which had a great balance of mala spice. It was delicious and set high expectations for the rest of the meal. We mainly came for the Peking duck which was honestly just ok, especially considering the price. I thought it'd come with more meat, most of the duck was skin which also seemed to be sweeter? than usual. We also got the century egg Napa cabbage which seemed very overpriced and under flavored. Our waitress mentioned it was a new item, so it may be refined in the future. Giving 4 stars for the experience. Missed our waitress' name, but she was great and made the experience even better. I think this place is worth trying again, but probably for another special occasion to justify the price range!

The menu seemed pricey but the ambiance and food quality more than deserves. It is nice tranquil environment. The service is quick and respectful and they are not shy in guiding. I had eggplant dish, which I have had at multiple chinese restaurants before, but haven't seen this style of creation. It looked and tasted awesome. I wish they had more vegeterian items on the menu especially for the dinner and that has held us back from visiting. They had nice chinese jazz music playing. I enjoyed the experience and will definitely visit again. I asked the server for vegeterian options during dinner, he said they are willing to accomodate e.g. fish with tofu. So we will be here again another time with family.

Special orders are even do-able if you call or visit their website and tell them, they might be able to pick it up on their next trip. Shrimp, scallops, seafood, and, on this day . . . crawfish cakes . . . The crawfish cakes were fine. I'm not sure I'd get them again, but not because they weren't good, but because they were too salty for me and after the third bite, it was too much. If that's not an issue for you, then these would be a win. Along with the those, I picked up about a half-pound of the fresh shrimp. The fish and shrimp are in coolers and they weigh them on the spot. The nice thing is being able get them in the amount that works for you -- even by the individual shrimp or by the scallop. While there are a lot of variables that go into measuring, the slightly over half pound I received ended up at 15 shrimp. It's hard to top fresh seafood and Apex Seafood & Market makes it simple. As long as you're at the Apex Farmers Market, you might as well pick up something and save yourself a stop somewhere else.
