We had a problem with water coming through our roof. Of the five contractors we contacted, Rafal from JJ Construction was one of only three that responded. Rafal came right away to assess the problem, and sent us an estimate when he said he would. We are long time home owners, and integrity is very valuable to us. As a best practice we met with several roofing contractors to receive bids for our roof and failing skylights. Let me save you the time -- just go with JJ Construction! Their pricing was competitive, and Voytek our project manager was absolutely amazing. In the end the quality of the work was stellar, and I'm so glad we chose to work with him. We were in a rush to get the roof on our newly-purchased home fixed before the winter due to skylights that literally allowed puddles of water into our house during rainstorms. Voytek was very thorough and candid in his assessment of the scope of work and talked us through the whole process. You can tell that he takes pride in the work and makes sure that the project is completed right, and he was very organized and prompt in getting the materials selected, work scheduled, and site cleaned up afterwards. He personally oversaw the project (almost entirely completed in a day!) and came back a couple times throughout the next week for a few remaining tasks to make sure it was 100% done perfectly. JJ Construction replaced our roof and gutters (including gutter guards that i purchased at Amazon) with a tear-down on June 6, 2024. I waited to post a review to ensure there were no leaks and all of the shingles seated well. Overall, JJ did an exceptional job. I am extremely happy with the quality of the Owens Corning shingles and the quality of the workmanship and the cost, which was comparable to other roofing companies I got estimates from. Rafal, one of the owners, was extremely responsive to all questions and things that came up. He personally came back several times after the installation was complete to use his magnetic "roller" tool on my yard to find leftover nails, and to paint the metal trim around my chimney and on my front overhang to a color that matched the roof. His follow-through was superb! I had absolutely no issues with the crew. If you are looking for a top-notch company who has served the Chicagoland area for years and is not a storm-chaser who will take shortcuts and then be gone forever, you should consider JJ Construction. I met with many contractors and I chose JJ construction for 2 reasons. 1, JJ construction was only company that said they were installing a termination bar for the flat roof and explained in detail each step of how they were going to do to complete the job. One of our front windows leaked during the windy thunderstorms this July. I contacted JJ Construction (Rafal us the owner) through Yelp to inspect the roof. Within 2 hours or so, he arrived that same afternoon, inspected the roof and found 3 nail pops (one that had no nail), sealed them and other shingles. We chose JJ Construction out of all the estimates and companies we met with for our roof replacement in Chicago on a brick bungalow. We have one flat roof portion where the dormer was built up. He provided us with a brochure to select our materials and guaranteed that everything we receive would come from one supply source so that our warranty on materials would not be violated by substituting in roofing materials that are from a discounted supplier. Some roofing companies will do this in order to save themselves money on the wholesale end. Rafal is excellent as a communicator and ethical contractor. Their crew was respectful, efficient, and cleaned up thoroughly when it was all done. Rafal's dad was on the job as well. It's great to work with a well-run, family-owned business. They assisted us with making sure the insurance company received necessary paperwork to cover the repairs and skylight replacements. We had some storm damage to our roof. One contractor was practically trying to get us a whole new everything from our insurance company. Another contractor was the complete opposite, didn't quote what I wanted and then disappeared without any follow up. Rafal from JJ Construction was so easy to work with. He met with our insurance adjuster and followed up with the required paperwork. Our new roof was put on in 1 day and it looks great. His crew was friendly, accommodating and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. 2 days later they came back to do the roof on our shed and install all new gutters and gutter guards. The roof and gutters look so nice it's putting the siding to shame. Literally 1 day after everything was finished, we got hit with a blizzard and I thought oh great, we're going to have leaks or missing shingles or God knows what else and not one thing went wrong. A week later we had even worse where it all melted and rained and still not one thing went wrong with the work they did.
