Alright this is going to be a long one, so bear with me! I really can't say enough about Dr. Vaughan, he is by far the best Pediatrician my kids have ever had. My oldest has Autism and he shows him nothing but kindness and patience. My 4 year old, is well, a 4 year old and no matter how crazy my son is being in the room, Dr. Vaughan talks to him and has nothing but patience with him. Now on to my 3 month old... we chose Dr. Vaughan right before he was born. When we went to our first visit, I was quite blown away. My other two boys have seen many doctors, but no one has ever treated us like this. When he walks through the door of the exam room, you can feel a sense of comfort and love. You can just tell how much he loves what he does. And being a stay at home mom and a full time student isn't easy, but he always makes time to ask how I am doing. And I know it is a genuine question. My 3 month old has had some health issues and after different roads taken on treatment, Dr. Vaughan called the hospital and got him admitted right away. Because of this amazing man, we would have never known about some of the health issues my son has. (we found these in scans) He received a feeding tube while in the hospital and still has it to this day. (weight issues and feeding disorder) Dr. Vaughan has always been on top of checking his weight, making sure he is gaining and not having issues feeding. What amazes me is the fact that every couple days or so, I receive a phone call from Dr. Vaughan and his office staff, asking how Mason is doing. I have never had anyone care so much for my child before. He is always on top of referrals and calls you when he says he will. (I've even received calls from him directly.) Not many doctors take the time to call on their own. Yesterday I visited the office with my little man and the Doctor asked about one of the specialists Mason saw. I let him know my concerns and what he said. There is this issue that I have with doctors that seem to bug me so much. When you are talking to them about your child and they are looking at the time and look like they are just dazed and somewhat paying attention to you.... Ya, this doesn't happen here. You can feel the empathy from Dr. V. He gets upset if your child isn't receiving the utmost care from specialists. HE NEVER GIVES UP! He will ride out this journey with you until everything is figured out. Dr. V also sits in the room with you until you have said all you have to say. Many times I'll be looking at my son or saying a little something to myself about something I am curious about. He immediately says, "What's going on Mama?". There is no dumb question and he makes sure to tell you this. He will literally sit with you until every question is answered. The way he explains things is quite amazing to say the least. If I ask a question about something, he will skip the medical lingo and go right to giving an example from something familiar. Not once have I been confused about what he talks about. He always makes sure we leave understanding everything. And today... I received a call from the office staff saying that Dr. Vaughan worked on my son's referral for a new GI and he had faxed it around 4 this morning.... what???! So your saying this man works around the clock to make sure my child receives the best care? INCREDIBLE. He fights for you. He will do anything in his power to make sure you are receiving the proper care from specialists. Oh, and let me say... the communication is awesome! They communicate so well with my son's home nurse, getting orders filled and questions answered right away! I am so happy with Dr. Vaughan, that if we do ever end up changing insurances, I will make sure that he accepts this first. I want my kids to see him and only him. I trust him to the fullest. 1 Star -- Extremely Unprofessional and Disrespectful of My Time I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Springfield Pediatrics. I arrived for my child's 10:30 a.m. appointment on August 24th. When I walked in, I clearly stated that I was there for my child's 10:30 appointment. The first thing I was told was that my child did not have an appointment. I explained that my child absolutely did have an appointment, and I pulled out my phone and showed the staff member the confirmation text I had received. That confirmation was sent to me on June 24th, so I had every reason to believe the appointment was scheduled and confirmed. After I showed her the confirmation, she acknowledged that my child did have an appointment, but then told me that the appointment had been moved. My immediate question was: Why wasn't I notified? If the August 24th appointment had been moved, why didn't I receive a phone call or text in advance letting me know? I received the original confirmation on June 24th. Why wasn't I sent another message telling me that August 24th was no longer the appointment date? Instead, I found out only after I physically showed up to the office. I was then told that they were short-staffed and that I would have to wait. I was told, essentially, "Just wait, we're short-staffed. We'll get to you." So I sat there and waited. Then, while I was already physically sitting in the office waiting to be seen, I received a voicemail at approximately 11:20-11:21 a.m. telling me that my child's appointment had been canceled and rescheduled for August 31st. Think about that. I arrived at 10:30 for an appointment that I had received a confirmation for. I was told initially that my child didn't have an appointment. I showed them the confirmation, and they acknowledged the appointment. I was then told to wait because they were short-staffed. I sat there waiting for them to see my child, only to receive a voicemail nearly an hour later telling me that the appointment had been canceled and moved to August 31st. Why couldn't I have been notified of that before I took time off work and drove to the office? That is what is so frustrating about this entire situation. I recently started a new job, and I have to be very intentional about taking time away from work. I am also pregnant, and there are already things I have had to push aside because I started this job and have responsibilities that require me to be there. One of the things I specifically made arrangements for was my child's pediatric appointment. I took time off work because Springfield Pediatrics confirmed this appointment with me. I could have been at work making money during that time. Instead, I was sitting in the doctor's office waiting, only to receive a voicemail telling me the appointment had been canceled and rescheduled. I also raised my concerns about the situation and felt that the response I received was extremely dismissive. I was essentially told, "I don't know what to tell you." That attitude was incredibly frustrating. It felt like there was no acknowledgment that my time matters too. I understand that offices can be short-staffed. I understand that scheduling and insurance issues happen. But being short-staffed is not a reason to fail to communicate with a patient's parent about a schedule change. If my child's appointment had been moved to August 31st, I should have been notified before August 24th -- not after I had already arrived, taken time off work, and sat there waiting. And ultimately, my child was not seen. I did what I was supposed to do. I received a confirmation. I made arrangements. I showed up at the confirmed time. I showed the office the confirmation when they told me there was no appointment. I waited when I was told they were short-staffed. And after all of that, my child still did not receive the care they were supposed to receive that day. Because of how this entire situation was handled, I asked for my child to be removed as a patient from Springfield Pediatrics. I no longer felt comfortable continuing care there. This wasn't simply about having to wait. It was about communication, accountability, and respect for my time. A simple phone call or text before August 24th could have prevented this entire situation. Instead, I was left to find out about the cancellation and rescheduling while I was already sitting in their office waiting to be seen. That is not the level of communication or professionalism I expect from a pediatric office. Parents' time matters. Their jobs matter. Their schedules matter. And when an appointment is confirmed, parents should be able to rely on that confirmation -- or at the very least, receive proper notice when something changes. We called in to schedule an appointment and were told our account is no longer active. We asked that our account be reinstated and the supervisor said that we weren't a good fit because we had previously stated we would need to find an additional doctor because this office never had the vaccines. Dr. Vaughn is a great doctor but the front office staff and appointment coordinators are absolute trash. read more

There are so many issues with this provider/provider's office. 1- We see specialist for my son in other states. I willingbmake the drive as my son has seen these specific doctors for 10 years and it's better to maintain his care there. I have literally driven 5 hours to an appointment that was booked 6 to 12 months prior, only to find out that the yearly referral was never sent. After the first go-around with only a drive to Tucson, I began asking for a paper copy of the referral and they refused. So, I switched my son. 2- Once again, a referral issue. Dr. Vaughn will say he is referring the child to a new specialist, but the referral never gets sent. Then, you find yourself hounding them for the referral. Then, the office staff treats you like you and your child are the largest inconvenience. 3- Prescriptions. One child has been on the same medication for about 7 years. Every 3 months we follow up for a refill and blood work. I cannot tell you how many times I had to make a call to get the prescription filled. 4- The final straw... Insurance/Billing/Misinformation regarding insurance and billing. Kids had dual insurance, one was UHC and one was Cigna. They had verified prior and had prior accepted Cigna. We show up for an appoint, a 50 minute drive, and the refuse to see the child. Tell us that they are no longer subscribers due to Cigna refusing to continue. Their website still said they accepted it. Then, they tell a privy party that they do accept both forms and cause full blown chaos. Literally go anywhere but here! We stayed bc we were trying to keep all 3 kids established at the same clinic. But, it just wasn't doable and for one reason or another, all three kids ended up with a new provider. The office staff is beyond RUDE and will full blown call you a liar. I suggest recording your calls. Once you discontinue care, they lock you out of your portal and make it next to impossible to acquire your medical records. Once you get your records, you may find that chart notes to not align with what you were advised in office. read more

I've had the worst experience with this office. Flor and Jenn receptionists have made it impossible to get an appointment. So upset with the lack of communication to help booking an appointment. They removed my children information without my consent. Looking to file a complaint with the medical board.DO NOT RECOMMEND. One doctor on site. I am so saddened to write this review. I used to love this pediatrician. They move to a new office and everything has gone down hill. They never have the vaccines that are needed at the check-ups they even referred us to the state to receive them. We originally started to be seen by Dr. Vaughn then somehow we were reassigned and have not seen him in a year. His office team is very matter of fact. I had some discrepancy with my insurance and it was an error on their system and they refused to work with me at all on a solution so my sick child could get seen. It was literally the most upsetting thing ever. They are here to provide care and let technology get in the way. They have absolutely no process for bypassing systems when they are wrong and can't even confirm with insurance companies like most offices. After all of this I called and asked for Dr. Vaughn to give me a call so I could provide him my experience rather then leave this review and we met with, he won't call you. When you are too big to call a patient there is a problem. I would not trust them with the care of your child. It seems like this pediatrician is only focused on money and not patients. read more

Awesome care, always, by the doctor and medical assistants. Safe, clean office. AWFUL practice administration. Their inconsistency in accepting or not accepting certain plans is the foundation of this review. This is not the first time we've run into an issue with their insurance plan/participation practices. Current situation: The doctor is listed as taking Aetna on their provider network directory. Called the office to make appointments for my kids (3 of them) - regular well-child visits; I know one is due for immunizations. The message I got "yeah, we are in the Aetna network, but we're just not participating." And, "if we can't take your insurance, we'd rather you go somewhere else where your insurance is accepted." Thanks for not wanting me to pay on top of paying for insurance. Continuity of family care isn't important, too? I insisted that they quote me for a well-child visit (cash) and we could visit there in the interest of staying in the office that all 3 of my kids have been at for 7 years. It was a minimum of $130+ per child. They quoted the price, but said they'd have to get an "exception" to allow a cash-paid visit. Ummmm... If you actually care about patients ...Then work with us in this crappy health insurance economy. read more

Our 8 week old hadn't peed in over 10 hours and we were concerned about dehydration. It was early on a Sunday morning but we called the after hours line, and an hour later we had Dr. Vaughn calling us at 6 o'clock in the morning on a Sunday. We told him all of the symptoms, he was able to reassure us that he was certain our baby would pre within the next couple hours, and sure enough she did. I've never heard of any doctor, let alone a pediatrician take calls like that so early in the morning outside of office hours. read more

Dr. Vaughn is great doctor, he is very knowledgeable and patient, but his front office staff is terrible! We have left voicemails for the office manager four times, to try and get an issue worked out, and have not received a call back. We also tried leaving messages with the receptionist regarding the issue, as well as, not having calls returned by the office manager. So far, no response or help has been offered, and nothing has been done to solve the issue. I would think a doctor would find friendly and capable staff to run his office... unfortunately, that is not the case at Springfield Pediatrics. read more

Took my 9 month old today for her first visit to Springfield Pediatrics. Awesome awesome experience. Dr Vaughn was wonderful, took time to speak with us and fill us in on any educating we may need for the next few months (things to look for/babyproofing/etc). Our previous pediatrician would only spend 5 mins with us before rushing to another patient, so this was a refreshing change. Listened to our concerns and gave us some awesome information & even some background into his life, which was nice. My daughter loved him and stared at him the whole time haha. Thank you guys! NOTE: children that come to Springfield must vaccinate. Idk about you guys, but it makes me feel great that my babe will be taken in for a regular checkup and won't be there with children who may have preventable diseases... read more

Horrible service ! Dr. Vaughn is good but front staff is horrible ! Called before my appointment and they told me I was covered by insurance. 2 months later I get a bill for the full amount of the visit. They told me it was my responsibility to check with my insurance before the visit. Had they told me this before the appointment I wouldn't have scheduled it! I'm working 2 jobs and barely able to pay the bills I have, now I have to figure out how to prevent this from going to collections and how to pull money up I don't have all because they gave me false information. read more

I hate having to write this review. When we first moved here, we found Dr. Vaughan and were ecstatic about how amazing his staff was. He was great, too! Always thorough, non judgmental, just an amazing doctor. It's been two years now, and many appointments later, we have noticed huge changes - and not for the better. I called today to get a referral for a urologist for my daughter, and was on hold for 40 minutes before they answered my call. It wasn't a big deal to me because it wasn't urgent, but if I had a baby crying with a fever, or a kid puking, I don't have 40 minutes to be on hold! I asked the office staff what was going on and they said that is their average wait time and if I don't like it they're happy to send my records to a new doctor. With that being said, we still went to the visit today and the doctor didn't want to give a referral to a urologist so he told my daughter about how she will probably have to get a catheter etc etc and now she's terrified to go to the urologist. Dr. Vaughan completely disregarded all of the notes from the ER staff, all of the tests they did, etc and just did his own thing. I've noticed over the two years we've been seeing him that he usually does his own thing but didn't realize how dangerous that could be until now. We are in the process of finding another doctor now, and won't be recommending Dr. Vaughan anymore. I used to tell everyone he was the best doctor we had ever had. I referred no less than 10 new patients his way in the past year. I have always been his biggest cheerleader but everything in that office has changed and we won't be going back. read more

Thought I'd give it another go. Once again told that my insurance, CIGNA, is not accepted. ALTHOUGH, on their website it is listed as an insurance they accept. I triple checked with CIGNA and he's still listed as an in-network doctor. Not sure what is going on, there. However, as soon as I was off the phone I'm locked out of my account. Each one of my kids accounts was taken off and then when I refreshed the page it put me to the login page but I can't seem to login. I tried changing the password through password request and the status didn't change. I don't know what is going on with his office staff but they're Hell on wheels about scrapping all information on their patients when anyone questions them. I called CIGNA and ended up on the line with them and the office and they eventually hung up on us. The tax code the office has is for sure In-Network with CIGNA, since 2013, even. The CIGNA rep basically said that all she can figure is that they have something against my person which makes no sense. I've never yelled at office staff or really had any real issues. I always recommended his office out to friends and whatnot. I'm just flabbergasted. We had an issue early in the year where they didn't tell me until appt time that our insurance had rejected a claim, that was a hiccup in Intel's CIGNA rep end, and wouldn't let my son be seen for his 2mos checkup. I emailed, though, after calling and my husband calling around, and seemingly got it squared away without issue. Now they won't even let my kids be seen and shut me out of my portal, claiming they don't accept cash patients that have insurance while also not accepting CIGNA. read more

I feel so terrible about switching pediatricians because I LOVE dr Vaughn! He has been so wonderful with my kids and with me. But i have to leave Springfield Pediatrics because o have had SO many issues with scheduling and billing. They couldn't get my daughter in for a sick appt for three days and she has a bad rash and just a baby. I will miss dr Vaughn. I would give dr vaughn a 5+ star rating, but his billing and scheduling and front office staff a 2 Star rating. read more

When the practice first opened it was great! We could schedule an appointment to see Dr Vaughan within a couple days but as time went on just trying to call in you were waiting on the phone for a half hour to schedule an appt. Was so excited when a pediatrician was opening up in San tan valley. Then I met Dr Vaughan and I was even more excited. So knowledgeable, friendly and it is obvious that he loves what he does. Worst experience Ever! Call to schedule immunizations for my 2 year old and Jan the office manager said my son was not behind on shots. I questioned her and she was so rude. I asked to have the doctor call me so I could confirm & she refused. Keep in mind I know he is behind cause the health Dept has called me to give reminder call. Jan the office manager told me that maybe the Health Dept Records Are incorrect. So being she refused to have him call me. I went down to the office to ask for my kids records and was told it would be a few days and they could just mail em to me. (It's been 2 weeks and they haven't sent em to me or my sons new pediatrician) & yes I have properly requested them!! I explained what happened on the phone call to another medical assistant working there. I then asked her if I could speak with doctor she then left and came back. She told me that Dr Vaughn wouldn't speak with me he was too busy, I asked even if I waited to speak in between patients she said No. Then she said he will give me my records so we can go elsewhere to another doctor. I was shocked but said ok that's fine can I at least get the shot records as that is what is in question. The gal said she would ask and then brought me the shot records and we discussed the shots that were in question and they were in fact missing?! Then I went to get up to leave and a police officer approached me. He came In thru the back door?! He walked me out and asked to talk to me...I spoke with the police and he said the Office Mgr called and said I was yelling and refusing to leave ?? I explained I was never asked to leave. I was only told he couldn't speak to me and I was sitting Waiting for shot records he saw the girl bring me. The officer overheard me Speaking to the gal and said to me "imagine my surprise when I arrive and You are calm". And then tells me The office manager never wants me to come back again? Lol All this over questioning shot records for my kid? Seems super shady! Well come to find out from the Health Dept and other Medical offices I called around to for a new provider & they do this ALOT! They don't keep proper records and when someone questions them they say they have the right to refuse service?! & just remove you as a patient. This happened Jan 2018 and they still hadn't reported my sons shots he got in May 2017 and they reported my sons shots in April twice?! To the Health Dept. Please DO NOT GO HERE unless you Like unnecessary drama, like talking to cops for no real reason & like risking your kiddos healthcare. What is crazy is after I left I read the reviews on Yelp, google & FB and they are terrible with patients, billing and med records. Steer Clear! I was called to reschedule my appointment because of some issue they were having. I called and called and no one answers! The next day same thing. So I actually ended up driving over there to reschedule because of their scheduling mistake. I even told them that I tried calling and there was no apology. I would like to say this was the first time something like this has happened. There was a different time I called because my baby was sick and no one answered. I left a message with them and no one ever called me back! I hate how unorganized they are! It seems like they are busy but when you actually show up at the building the women up front are just sitting there. They are not the friendliest bunch either. Dr Diji Vaughan - the pediatrician of my youngest baby... what a service! i'm so lucky to have had Samirah under your watch... His practice is spotless and the staff are courteous and always willing and ready to assist... Dr Vaughan had all the time in the world for my baby and didn't hurry us out of his office. It was a great pain that we had to relocate to MD where we have been searching for Dr Vaughan's copy... His professional judgement and calls was always spot on, and i remember the stuttering issue my son had at age 4 and his professional call which came to pass. I'm very sad to write this view as I think Dr.vaughn is a great doctor. However I was told my Insurance was in network here when it was not. I received out outrageous bills and they refused to speak to me about it and ducked all of my phone calls because of it. I'm so sad to find my son a different doctor because he's a wonderful guy but the staff here does not return calls and refuses to even explain matters. The sad thing is I would have just paid the bill in moved on If they would have returned one of my countless calls. Terrible customer service and very unprofessional. They will never solve a billing issue and they won't give you a phone number for the billing department to solve it. It's a shame my son really loved the doctor but that's no way to treat someone. read more

I hate having to write this review. Dr. Vaughan is great, but I think he's uniformed about the billing practices, or lack there of, going on in his office. His front office staff also lacks essential soft skills as well. Unfortunately, I was told today that their billing changed. While Dr. Vaughn the provider is in my NOW network, Springfield Pediatrics isn't. No problem, Where else can I see Dr. Vaughn? No where!!!!! He only works out of this facility. That's insane and something the provider's office should be working to correct. I asked to speak to Dr. Vaughn and was refused. I was advised to find another provider. When it comes to getting a Dr even for myself am very particular talk less for my kids am extra particular. Dr Diji Vaughan is an exceptional practitioner who listens attentively and is very thorough. At each doctor's visit, after examining my kids he takes his time to educate all of us (my sick kids inclusive) on the medical explanation of his diagnosis. He uses learning aids for kids such as diagrams of the human internal organs like large and small intestines, ear, mouth,Nose,etc. At the end of the visits, my 9 and 7 years old leave very excited and well informed feeling like doctors themselves because of what they have learnt from Dr. Vaughan. Just the other day I had a conversation about Dr. Vaughan's practice with a friend of mine and she instantly said I think I know him. I took my son in when he had asthma attack and he just knew right away what to do without beating round the bush. And her son went home that night well rested and much better. You want the best care for your kids? go no where else you will be more than glad you went to Dr. Vaughan's Springfield pediatrics. And above it all his trust is in God. Im not sure what happened to this place and Dr. Vaughan but in the past few weeks my child has had some severe stomach issues among a few other things, I cant seem to even get through to the office anymore, the hold times are anywhere from 15 to, like today..45 minutes, and thats just to talk to someone, they saw my daughter several weeks ago, did some extreme testing only to be told nothing was wrong, so a week later again..severe stomach pains, other tmi info we shared with the doc and staff, called again to see if there is anything else we can do, they would not see her, and she needed to see a G.I. specialist, so they referred us to one, had to wait to for the appointment, in the meantime she was hospitalized, given pain meds, again just last night she was once again rushed to the hospital, did ultrasound, found out that the doctor had missed a lot of things going on, kidney infection and a bladder infection, called Vaughans iffice today specifically for a referral for a urologist, waited over 45 minutes just to hear a human voice,(they now have a totally different office staff) was told to bring her in if we wanted a referral, brought her in, got a referral only to find out it was a referral for a different doctor, not the one we made an appointment with and lets just say we are still in the phone with both offices because Vaughans office is saying the fixed it and the urologist is saying they never even had it faxed, big mess, still in the making, all while ny daughter is sitting here in severe pain because of a bunch if careless, lousey, doctors and staff, NEVER taking my kids here again, avoid at all costs, its not worth the stress and suffering of your children. read more

Awesome Doctor! My kids loved the fish tank & the staff too - very kid friendly. He was recommended by the Dr who saw us from the Children's Hospital in Mesa and now I can see why. All our nurses too had great things to say. He is truly professional and good with my kids. He was able to get into the hospital system and review test results that were still pending when my son was discharged. They have free patient portal (we had to pay a fee for portal when we lived in Houston), I use it all the time and I get a reply from them usually the same day! If you are looking for in and out office visits with no real interest in your kids this is not the place for you. Here you get great care and the Dr takes the time to listen to us and takes time to explain things in detail sometimes even drawing diagrams - I don't mind waiting for great service. I am leaving this feedback solely on the office staff. I don't know how good Dr. Vaughn is when your child is sick, as we never got to make an appointment with him when our child was sick. My daughter was sick and we used the patient portal to request a sick appointment for Monday on a Sunday morning. Monday morning came and went, and the Dr office never contacted us. I called around 11 am to see why we hadn't received a call and the office staff member stated "I'm sorry, we don't have any sick appointments left." The reason she didn't call, she stated, was because they don't work on Sunday's, which makes no sense, because the patient portal is an online tool that would have been responded to on Monday. Either way, we took our daughter to the urgent care facility and will never recommend this office. The communication is very poor, and customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with from a doctor's office, in my entire life. I felt like I was talking to a person who had no clue how to handle even the basic questions being asked on the phone. Every question I asked was met with the same "I'm sorry, we don't have any sick appointments left today." Even when I asked her if it would upset her at all that her doctor office would not even call back or respond to her request for an appointment if her child was sick .. she stated "no, it would not bother me." I took my twins to their 15 month appointment to and have never seen such unprofessional practice. We arrived 10 mins early for our appointment. After a very very long wait in the waiting room my twins were getting pretty fussy so I told them I need to take them outside to calm them down to come get me when they are ready. They finally called us back and again after a long wait at about 10:35a I am told it will be about another 20 mins. What? Really? So of course I told them how unprofessional this was and why was I not told when I checked in how backed up they were. I had two babies who were very tired at this point and not happy. I tried my best to settle them but they were screaming to much. So I told them I have to leave the room and go back outside to calm them down. After about 10-15 min I call to see how much longer and they tell me because I left the room I will have to reschedule. How unprofessional and wrong this is. I left the room because they had 2 15 month old babies waiting over a hour. Not my fault. Their excuse was they no longer had the nurse practitioner. Not my problem. So I basically I was asked to leave. I will never go back and don't recommend anyone else to. read more

Let me start off by saying this is an amazing doctor. The problem I had was with the staff. I went in after months of having problems with my son's insurance and him not being able to see his doctor or get a refill on his medication. I walked in as a walk in (sick visit). They started by saying my son's ins. Was not active. I work in the medical field as well so before going in I verified his status. I said he was and I have the same website as they do and they kept saying no he's not. I called my work asked if they would fax the eligibility of the ins.for the same website I waited for about 10 min. Then they called me up. Saying they see he's active but they have a full schedule with patients that have appointments. I told her my son has gone without his meds and is not feeling well. All she said was I'm sorry we can't see him you can take him to ER because he should be seen. Wow I've worked in the medical field for about 15 years were is the patient care. I'm in the process of looking for a new pediatrician. read more
