I needed to treat myself my birthday was 2 weeks ago and I didn't get to do any pedi anythjng due to us moving houses and that was my birthday weekend full of moving I work a few blocks away from here and I called and Jenny picked up and told me to come in at 4:30. I was so happy because while killing time waitin for my sister I get to get some me time Tammy was who did my pedicure and she is just the sweetest! I just love people who are genuinely sweet. She told me she is new here so I appreciate her for doing such a great job with my pedicure! I love a place that knows when there's a ingrown toe nail waiting to happen. She was so patient and so precise, and also very gentle I think I might come here after work every other month. These ladies are nice, I fell asleep cuz I was so tired and she just kept doing her work haha I'm sorry But I think I found my new go to. My new favorite nail salon! Such a great experience at JJ Union. They're downtown, which is good for me working downtown. They have signs outside their building and were very quick to respond to their availability. The ladies were very kind and fun. The inside is extremely clean and spacious. The color options were good for gel. They have videos playing of different designs they've done. Honestly, some of the best design work I've seen on island. I'm typically a one-color type girl. I asked to add a little something and she suggested a really cute sparkle. She asked if I liked it and I feel I could have asked for even more options, if necessary. My cuticles were cut nicely and the massage was great. The price is standard for Hawaii for a gel manicure. read more

This is the 2nd time I've been here. The first time was for a pedicure and this time was for a full set gel extension. The pedicure I had was alright and my gel extensions were just ok. I had high expectations because of all the good ratings. I don't often get my nails done just pedicure and I particularly did my nails because I have a very important interview and wanted to get my nails prepped. I don't know the nail technician's name but she seemed very uninterested in doing my nails...she was texting and yawning and the end job of it was alright. I don't love it nor do I really like it...some of the nails didn't even get a proper coating of the top coat so part of it is coated and part of it is not... When I saw gel enhancement i thought it meant like the hard gel to create an extension not the fake nail and then the powder kind of extensions and with gel polish on top~ I think I'll just stick to going to other places. Today was my second time to this nail salon! And I could go on and on about how amazing this spot is. The first time I took my friend with me who was staying with me in town-and we had such an amazing relaxing experience!! Everyone is so kind, and the nail techs do an amazing job- they have great attention to detail and always check in to make sure you're comfortable. When I went to get these nails removed, the nails were so thick still that it took 4 acetone soaks and a lot of grinding to remove these poorly done nails. The nail techs at JJ Union Nails were great. I had booked an appointment for both me (gel manicure, regular pedicure) & my friend (dip manicure, regular pedicure) at 5:15pm. The parking situation can be a bit confusing, especially if you're not familiar with the area or the mall the salon is located in. The nail techs were very accommodating and efficient between me and my friend. The nail tech that was doing my nails was very meticulous with my nail art (these were my nails for my wedding) and really did a wonderful job with them. However, gel manicures can take up a good amount of time. As 6:00pm rolled around, I could tell the techs started rushing us and my friend was not even started on with her dip manicure. When it was my turn for the pedicure, the tech handed me the pedicure menu and as she handed me the menu, her eyes looked up behind me. When I looked up, she was staring at the clock. So I figured "I'll just do the express pedicure because they'll rush it anyway." The nail tech that was doing my friend's dip manicure kept trying to convince her to get a gel manicure instead (dip manicures take longer than gel manicures), but she refused because she told them that her nails break more easily with gel manicures. I would give this salon 3 stars because of the fact that they were rushing us. They really could have turned our appointment down because of the services we requested weren't basic services. I added one star because 1.) our nails were beautiful and my gel manicure lasted 2-3weeks after and 2.) we finished and ~7pm and the mall had closed and we didn't know how to get back in to get to the parking garage and all 3 nail techs stayed with us outside until we found our way. read more

Wow, this place went downhill! Once I knew I was coming back to Hawaii for work, I waited to get a pedicure so I could come here. Well that was a mistake! When I made the appointment, I told the guy I wanted a shellac pedicure with a design. He told me to come at 4pm. I showed up on time, waited 15 minutes before I was seated in a chair. No biggie... the same guy that made the appointment started my pedicure. Asked me for a photo of the design so I snowed him.. He kept working on my pedicure and didn't say a word. Then he gets up and goes to start someone else's pedicure without saying anything to me. By this time. I'd already been there for an hour and wasn't even close to starting the polish. When he finally came back, I told him I needed to leave by 5:30 (it was already 5) and he said ok. Then he disappears again and brings back these cheesy ugly stickers that even a blind person wouldn't want on their pedicure and proceeds to tell me he doesn't know how to draw designs. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Why did you make the appointment? Or not tell me sooner instead of wasting my time!!!! I was so disappointed! I will never come back here again. I went to go get my nails done today and this nail salon because i had gotten a gift certificate for $25. The salon is very nice and clean and bright. My nail tech was friendly made some conversation with me. I had asked to get acrylic nails, didn't discuss the option of getting gel nails but it was given to me anyway, didn't really mind. He had a little problem with my right thumb and my middle finger on my left so he had to redo the nail paint a couple times for both. I noticed my middle finger on my left hand came out a little darker than my other nails. I think you can see it in the pictures i attached. Then i noticed my right thumb, the paint is already starting to chip. Smh. When paying i have mentioned that i had a $25 gift certificate and when she rang me up i had to pay $41... so am i tripping or nah? That's a little pricey for a regular "full acrylic nails". I feel like this wasn't worth $41. If i didn't use the gift certificate it would've been like $60? I don't think I'll come back here. read more

I wasn't happy with this place. The ratings were good so I decided to try. I got there and I asked to get a pedi and dipped nails. The pedi was okay and I asked my nail lady for this other lady to do my dipped because of the reviews that I read about her. He was like okay I'll try and totally ignored that request. She literally finished my pedi and took me to the table and started doing my dip. I ask for a basic round shape and she messed them up. I was sitting in my room disgusted at how my nails from back home turn out and how they looked like I had them done a month ago, when in reality it had only been a week and a half. I decided I was going to stop looking at them a find someone who could do them better, well I found her, Ms. Trang. I did my normal google search and found JJ Union Nails, located at 1136 Union Mall #103, Honolulu, HI 96813. I was super surprised to find out they were just a block over. I called ahead to see if I needed an appointment and was given one for the next hour. I was greeted by Ms. Jenny and because I was early was told to pick my color and they would be with me shortly. Of course I had only asked for a manicure but soon decided to get a pedicure as well, why not. Ms. Trang sat me down and gave me good customer service, she also gave me great advice on what to do for both my finger nails and toenails. I will admit I was a little skeptical about how they might turn out but they turned out BEAUTIFULLY. Jenny, Trang and the other young lady, Thank You for your service. Working in healthcare I do not get my nails done often and it was a treat for myself to get them done. I've been consistently working with artist Vic and he does strong, durable nails that are as gorgeous as they are properly applied! I've seen dozens of nail technicians in Hawaii and he is by far my go-to and only trusted so far! Today I decided to treat myself because my nail polish was awful and I was forced to wear shoes to cover up my ugly looking toes. Thankfully, the wonderful owner answered my prayers and told me how to get to her nail salon. I parked at Alii Parking Garage, which cost me $3 for the 2 hours it took to complete my mani pedi since the garage was only 1 block away from the salon. I normally go to a different salon, but now I'm hooked on this place because the staff is so friendly and the prices are beyond reasonable. Just moved here and went for the first time a few days ago. Unfortunately didn't take any pics so will post when I update. I was really impressed with the fact that my appointment was set at a specific time and they actually took me at set time!! On top of being prompt, they offered tea&water and gave me a mini fan to cool-off right away. My heart. They definitely were 10/10 when it came to accommodation. My nail tech didn't cut me and did a beautiful job on my mani-pedi! I only have 2 things I didn't like but they're generic enough for me to come back again! They're pricey but it's a luxury, not a necessity. The second is, I get the deluxe packages at every salon I go to strictly because of the foot massage that is offered with it but don't do as I did and save your money! Either I got the massage while she was exfoliating my legs or I didn't get it at all. My knees to my toes were definitely exfoliated though!! read more

Absolute 10/10!!! I don't write reviews much because the hassle of writing them, but Jenny and Helen deserve one. From the first interaction with the owner Jenny, I already loved working with them. Jenny was very accommodating and respectful when coordinating the appointment, which I very much appreciated. She made it super easy and convenient. We decided schedule with Helen because of a past reviews, and I can see why a lot of people love going to her. She really is amazing. She's thorough and she takes her time. My boyfriend said he did not feel any pain when she tackles his ingrown toe nails. So if you're new to getting your ingrown toe nails addressed, my boyfriend said he highly recommends seeing Helen. She's gentle and takes her time. It's now one of his favorite self care routines. To add, the prices are reasonable compared to other salons and you can't beat it with the good service. I will say the only tricky part about this salon is finding parking since it is downtown. The best parking garage we found is a couple blocks over at Ali'i Place. $3 for 1.5 hours. Overall, love working with Jenny and Helen! Superb service and we never feel rushed. read more

I booked a same day appointment today with Teri for a classic mani pedi with an ombre gel on the fingers. The salon looked full but I did not wait long to be helped. Everybody in the shop was very friendly. Teri who did my mani and pedi was great! She knows how to talk to her customers. I was going for a pink gel but I asked Teri what she thinks would be good and she recommended the light blue color; IT WAS A GREAT CHOICE! The deluxe pedi was one of the better ones I've had. They have the massage chairs & all. However, I also got a gel manicure the same day. I usually go to a different salon for my nails & have been for years because they do such an awesome job making sure everything is coated evenly & the nails are as symmetric as they can. I had a very grown out acrylic full set that I needed wrapped & just painted over with a gel polish during my visit. I'm not sure if I'm just over analyzing because I know what I'm used to & I know my nails aren't as long as would be necessary for a perfect coffin nail but these were just so uneven. I had to even ask my friend's tech to fix it for me when mine had to go; it didn't help, he just kind of rounded the edge when really he just should've made the top even. All in all, I'm going back to my usual tech to have these fixed. read more

I also got some waxing done and I'm satisfied with the results! The prices are very reasonable and they offer stamp cards! Location- conveniently located next to HPU and it is very sanitary!
