My 2nd favorite after Wok Uptown. It's hit or miss here. The lemon chicken was phenomenal but my chicken chow fun was so-so, not completely devoid of flavor but then again not smacking you in the face with it. Wonton soup and tea were quite good, but fortune cookies were barely sweet! --Slight rant: I am still pissed and probably will never be appeased that fortune cookies never give you an actual fortune anymore. Chinese authors, please note that the fortunes written in the present tense are not fortunes. They are hallow statements that make me want shove the broken cookie bits down your throat. While I was away at anger management, I forgot to mention that the ambience/decor is great and the service was prompt. Will go back. read more

This place is kind of pricey for small portions. $43 (not including tip) for two people with water for drinks. The food is Americanized Chinese and it's not very good. Honestly, I would have been better off going to Mr. Panda buffet. It would have been way cheaper for the same quality of food. We ordered steamed pork dumplings, pork lo mein, salt & pepper shrimp, and chicken with mixed vegetables. The dumplings were meh. Pretty bland and mushy. The lo mein was really saucy with lots of meat, but no real taste. The salt and pepper shrimp was probably the most disappointing thing ever. I'm used to head-on, shell-on, deep-fried shrimp seasoned with salt, garlic, and green chili peppers. This stuff was just peeled, fried shrimp with salt and bell peppers. It wasn't horrendous, it just wasn't what I expected/wanted. As for the chicken with mixed vegetables, don't order it. There was chicken in it and vegetables, but not sure what the milky, gelatinous sauce drowning this dish was made of. Service was friendly, but a bit slow despite the restaurant being almost empty. This place is great! A friend recommended me to JJ's Bistro, and it is the only place that I'll get chinese from in Denver. I have also recommended it to a few other people who have all loved it in return. Every time I have been there (or called in an order), the sweet lady who works in the front (sorry I don't know her name) has always been super nice and helpful. They even delivered to my house out in Cherry Creek even though I know it's outside of their delivery range, and it didn't even take that long. I always order their sesame chicken and I'm never disappointed with it. Their crab ragoons are also delicious and they give you a pretty large amount of them for only $5.95 The only con I can see is that its more of a take out place, so the one time we ate dinner in the restaurant we were the only couple there and there was no music or tv on, so it was a very uncomfortable silence, lol. read more

Jj's bistro is one of my favorite spots to get authentic tasting Mapo tofu in Denver. It's always very hot and fresh, they take you seriously when you want to order it spicy, and the sauce isn't overly oily like some of the other restaurants in town. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and I'm pleased to see that their standards haven't dropped due to the reduced number of dine in customers during the pandemic. I'm looking forward to returning here when the world reopens to enjoy another tsing tao. Last time we were here we got also fried gyoza and sesame chicken, both were crispy and delicious. read more

Diagonal from my apartment building, JJ's Bistro is located on the second floor of the open rooftop-ish plaza mall called "Sakura Square". While I do wish Sakura Square had more to it, as the "square" itself is such a sad waste of space with vacant areas at every turn, JJ's is easy to get to & super convenient. In regard to ordering, I recommend the Chicken Fried Rice. At times their chicken tastes more like dried scallops than the poultry intention, but the dish is still yummy! The Sweet & Sour Chicken is typical and the Kung Pao Chicken has waaayy too many peanuts & celery bits. Crab Rangoon is another typical item while JJ's Fortune Cookies always tells lies! I will say that the last time I was there, I was charged around $22 for the same thing I was charged $29 for last night. When I asked the cashier about it, all she said was "I don't believe you." Soooo their customer service definitely SUCKS but their food & location will persevere. read more

About as average as you can get for delivery Asian food. There seems to be a dearth of Asian delivery in northeast Denver and we're now out of the delivery range of our beloved Wokano and Karma. I was going to suggest Wok Uptown, but was a bit scared away by the reviews so we tried out JJ's. They say the hot and sour soup is vegetarian, so that's a plus. It's super peppery though, and I'm usually a black pepper fan. About three spoonfuls in, I started coughing uncontrollably. Crab cheese wontons are super standard, if not a bit undercooked, and come with a side of red no. 40 sweet and sour sauce. For my main course, I got the garlic eggplant and it was not too bad. There was definitely a high proportion of melt-in-the-mouth eggplant compared to other ingredients, but it tasted a bit fryer greasy. Like when you order fries somewhere and it tastes like they haven't changed out their oil in a while. Like that. But not bad. One of the few places that will venture up to our place, so I can't complain. Prices are standard and portions are a bit on the smaller side (for this type of food). read more

When I worked downtown it was pretty much a given that a group of us would have lunch there. And it's good enough food to keep coming back once a week for sure. It's your standard Chinese-American fare with great flavors, excellent service and it's rarely crowded and so it's always easy to get seating even if you arrive around noon. It's nothing spectacular but a little off the beaten path so you're not chomping on expensive sandwiches in LoDo every day. A big tip of the hat to their servers who would always hook us up with extra appetizers (if we ordered the crab rangoon) so that each of us would have 2 of them. That's great service and very thoughtful as well. JJ's gets 3 stars for food and 4 stars for service. read more

We usually always order from Wok Uptown but I don't care for their animal meat so I was in search for another Chinese place downtown who delivered and I discovered a sign for J.J's Bistro while driving up 20th or 21st one day. I really like this place. Good quantity for the price and the food is fresh and thoroughly cooked. Delivery is a plus. read more

I'm not sure that even a star is appropriate but... I ordered and had delivered "happy family" and Vietnamese egg rolls and while the restaurant is only 2 blocks away, the food was barely warm. The egg rolls were oddly brown and not crispy, at all. The pork inside was mealy and not something I took a second bite of. The happy family was not much better. Not only were the veggies soggy and horribly overcooked but the chicken and beef were questionable in their quality. I've never eaten a dish that included the ENTIRE shell on the shrimp and am certain those were not scallops. Never again... read more

The waitress seemed totally uninterested in our business, and made no attempt to help diners choose a meal when not familiar with their cuisine. The food it's self was average in its value and flavour, with its lemon chicken and sesame chicken being the most bitter and overcooked of the lot. JJ's = Not so dynomite. Our delivery arrived 15 minutes late, but the delivery person was very sweet and apologetic. I only wish he was apologizing for his tardiness. The "food": general tao chicken, pork potstickers, sesame tofu, eggrolls and rice. No vegetables in the entrees, just hardened meat substance. The smell: uric acid, laundry left in the washer for three days, carnage. The taste: salty mcnuggets in salty sauce. The owner: rude, but quick with the 100% refund. I come here for lunch during work all the time and love this place. Nothing fancy, nothing special, perfect for when you just want an eggroll and some orange chicken for lunch. I always leave feeling like I've eaten too much, which for $10 (including tax and tip) ain't bad. Everyone loves a decent, greasy chinese place and this is exactly that! What I had? Sesame Chicken Food review: I never really have a ton of luck being really impressed with Chinese restaurants give or take 2 places but they are usually enjoyable for the most part. This was basically my experience again here. Everything was pretty tasty. The sesame chicken was maybe a little sweeter than usual but for the most part tasty. There were also 1-2 pieces that seemed to be harder (like the chicken had been cooked for too long) but it wasn't a real big deal. Service? A little slow but tolerable Other thoughts: I had Boba tea for the first time and while I wish I got a different flavor (I got the regular kind), the drink is "fun" regardless. :-) I'll come back here again for lunch to get my chinese food fix but it's not a place I'd come often. read more

Possibly my new favorite takeout place in Denver. Delivery is quick, the food is delicious, and the family packages are a great deal! My roomie and I first ordered from JJ's the Saturday before St. Pat's (when everyone was celebrating). We assumed it would take forever, with all the other drunkies craving some good Chinese food. Surprisingly, our food came fast, was quite yummy, and a great deal. Some of the food can be a bit bland, I believe, but if you ask for it spicy, that's what you're going to get! Absolutely disgusting. I called and complained and all they did was refund the lo mein, we spent around $50 on food and the bug ruined our whole experience. I will never eat here again. It was fast...I ordered at 5:45 from someone that wasn't looking to be my friend, but to take my order. I got a knock on the door 20 minutes later. I live in a condo complex, and I usually get a call from downstairs from a lost delivery driver. The food itself was ok. It met my expectations. We ordered twice-cooked pork and chicken lo-mein. Lo mein was a little bland and slightly greasy, but I've had worse, and better. The twice-cooked pork was more flavorful, and the veggies were crisp and tasty. So, order from here if you want fast delivery, and aren't a foodie. A-OK. read more

This is by far my favorite Chinese in all of Colorado. The food is always outstanding. Crab cheese wontons are the best I've had, sesame tofu is divine, they even have boba! Always a plus. I noticed they also have a new sushi menu, which I have yet to try, but an awesome addition. I always dine in, and every time I do, their phones (yes they have multiple phones because they're so ridiculously delicious everyone wants some of their food) ring off the hook with deliveries and carry out orders. Was just browsing yelp for a new place for lunch and saw that this place only has 3 stars. Boo! This is the best Chinese food I've had in Denver. I've ordered hear about once a month for years now. The General chicken (ask for extra spicy), egg drop soup, lo mein, spring rolls, pot stickers...etc are all great. They always give me extra spring rolls, plenty of sauces, and are at my doorstep in less then 30 minutes (sometimes 15). Love this place!! read more

Ordered the Thai chicken for take out last night. Apparently they only need 5 minutes to prepare it, wonder why... Eating it in the dark while watching a movie I had to stop since the chicken was super chewy and disgusting. Generally, awesome. Recently, not so much! We order from JJ's Bistro regularly, and thoroughly enjoy the egg drop soup, crab cheese wontons, and sesame chicken. However, the past couple of times the sesame chicken has been less than stellar as there has been a less than average amount of sauce. Primarily, my complaint this time is that the delivery person apparently felt we didn't tip enough for his liking. Especially, because I've not had anyone ever complain about tips in my presence when ordering food in the past. This is my second time ordering delivery from this establishment, and while the first was not so bad to not order a second time, this order was definitely the last. We ordered a cup of egg drop soup, the cheese wontons, a tuna roll, and vegetable tempura. We were quoted an hour for delivery, which was understandable due to prime time dinner ordering for a Sunday night. However, when the food did arrive, I had been quoted $23.00 for the meal but my card had actually been charged $73.00. The delivery driver had to call to remedy, and (hopefully) the correct charge will be on my card tomorrow. Once opened, the 3 warm food items were lukewarm, and even though I only live a 5 minute drive away we had to reheat all of them. The sushi roll could not even be consumed because it tasted as though it has been seasoned in salt. The vegetable tempura was soggy. The egg drop soup was fine (difficult to mess that one up) and the cheese wontons were fine as well aside from the fact that they weren't warm.
