Banana soft serve with Krunch Kote
    Jeannine O.

Wanted to try out their ice cream before they closed up for the season and made it there today. Ordered what they're known for ... soft serve with krunch kote. You can choose from a variety of soft serve flavors and I chose banana which was good. Could use a little more intensity on the flavor but I was happy with it. The krunch kote tastes like crushed toffee peanuts and sprinkles. Would like to go back and try the different flavors. Friendly employees.

Overall: Consistently great soft serve with generous portions. Simple but tasty with must have Krunch Kote. Quick window service with a area to sit (when open). I have been going here my whole life because of how convenient it is. the parking can be really tricky backing out from the tiny parking area onto the main road which I think covid has improved because of the directed lanes. I love the classic soft serve twist in a cone with of course Krunch Coat. My family always gets extra Krunch Kote in a cup so we can redip after we lick. Must get napkins and lick quickly especially if you are in the car. I have never had any of the food but I like the hard Giffords ice cream which you can get in the supermarket so you know what to expect. I will continue to come for the rest of my life and will bring my friends to enjoy a refreshing treat. Also, beware of no bathrooms.

The most delicious ice cream hut in the South Shore! Great ice cream and a cute train playground set by the outdoor tables. A great family run business!

Love getting pulled into local traditions, and JJ's ranks with leaves changing and boats dropping as a seasonal sign of the Cohasset times. Following month after wintry month hearing about the plethora of fruity, transmorphic dips for their stellar soft serve, we COULD NOT skip an afternoon trip to JJ's (even after incredibly filling sandwiches from Circe's Grotto - more on that later). She had her order set, as is customary with the locals: vanilla with cherry dip in a cup. I waffled, obviously showing my neophyte ways while succumbing to the overwhelming options - hard scoop or soft serve, yogurt or ice milk, banana split or extra thick frappe, chocolate sprinkles or a cheeseburger, whatshappeninghere... That's when the cucumber-cool gal behind the counter said four words I love to hear: "You wanna sample something?" Why, yes. Yes I do. One bite of the vanilla soft serve rolled in Krunch Kote (bashed-up peanut brittle and rainbow sprinkles) and I was sold. A massive tower anchored in a cake cone and her cuppa something special only cost $6 and certainly cured what ailed. And to ice the cake, they gave us a biscuit for the pup. You kids rule! Word to the wise: even if you're not a fan of the cone, get it anyways. The small swirl towers what you'd get in the same size cup. You have been warned. More words to the wise: Lime and banana dips have been discontinued. Sad panda.

When the "Open for the Season" sandwich board goes up in front of JJ's, it's my first and favorite sign that summer is here. This road side dairy shack has been a perennial go-to for warm weather treats since I was a little kid. They have soft serve with a variety of dips (cherry, chocolate, butterscotch!) or topping options (sprinkles, Krunch coat!) as well as Gifford's Ice Cream if you want something a lil harder. I've been a loyal devotee to the vanilla soft serve with cherry dip since the 80's but I get that other people might want to mix it up a bit. So here's your mission should you choose to accept it: Head to Cohasset. Pull up to JJ's. Park wherever there's open pavement- no need to look for spaces, it's a free-for-all. Hop in one of the 2 window lines (left side always seems to go faster) Dodge the Little League team celebrating their victory/drowning their sorrows in lactose. Place your order. Bring your pup (they're generous with the milk bones!) Take ice cream, give $$. Now go sit on the white picnic tables to the right and devour your summer treat before whatever cone/cup concoction you settled on turns into a delicious sticky disaster. Lather-Rinse-Repeat.

5 stars for never suggesting my large chocolate soft serve with chocolate dip should go into a cup with a cone on the side.

Prices are very reasonable, and they also offer a variety of cans of soda and waters along with potato chips if you want a side (however after eating just the dog you likely won't have room for any sides)!

The space is really nice, clean, and very nostalgic, it gives old school 90s Brasil vibes, iykyk! There is limited parking right in front of the restaurant with their food truck taking up half the spots. There were no staff present when we walked in, they were in the back, so we went up and ordered using the tablets. While convenient, I find this set up super impersonal. The food, 1 burger, 2 pressed hotdogs, and fries, took longer than we expected 20-25 mins. Once we did interact with the staff, they were super friendly! Now for the food, fries were way over salted, we had to wipe them off using napkins. Burger meat and bun were dry, the patty was also really salty. The pressed hotdogs were fine but they changed the hot dog they use and it wasn't our preference. The homemade mayo was really nice. While the sandwiches are substantial, given the quality, they're expensive when compared with similar options in the area. Overall, not as good as we remembered though I would recommend for the close to what you'd find in Brasil, authentic experience. We hope they can get back to what made them so special when they first started!
