The Dog House quickly became our place of refuge during our time on Cape Cod. We had a few disappointing experiences at other restaurants on the Cape, so we ended up coming back here two or three times throughout our trip because it was just so consistent. The hot dogs are pretty good. They're nothing completely out of this world, but they're definitely worth trying. We ordered the Glendon Beach Dog, the Sonoran Dog, and the West Dennis Dog, and the Glendon Beach Dog was by far our favorite. The real star of the menu, though, was the Dirty Fries. They are absolutely gigantic and so worth the price. Honestly, for Cape Cod, the prices here are actually pretty reasonable, which I really appreciated. Another thing I really appreciated was that they accommodated us even though we showed up about 10 minutes before closing. The service was awesome, and they were still incredibly welcoming. They also have a really cute outdoor seating area that adds to the whole experience. And I have to mention the lemonade because it was SO good. It was incredibly tart, sour, and refreshing, which is exactly how I like my lemonade. I definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area or visiting the Cape. New owners took over The dog house this year and I am sad to say my experience was terrible. Ordered 3 hotdogs and an order of fries and in 1-1.5 minutes was handed a bag of food. How could we get our food so fast? Well we checked our food before we were headed to the beach (luckily) and the food was cold, dry, awful and clearly precooked (on a very slow night. the French fries were not even the slightest bit warm. Really sad excuse of an establishment. We spoke to the manager and got a refund and an I'm sorry. But no excuse for having food sitting around and then selling it to customers. read more

If they reopen online ordering, I'd edit my review to base it off the food but we're a month and a half into the summer season and they haven't. Go somewhere else. 83 bucks for 2 burgers, and order of onion rings (they don't come with fries for 15 bucks a pop), a kids chicken tenders, and a kids fish and chips and none of them were really any good. Burgers were like something you would expect from a cafeteria. Nothing special about them at all. The fish was not great. The chicken tenders were basically long McNuggets. Onion rings were greasy and not very good either. Not sure why I tipped. You have to wait in line to order, then you wait for 20 minutes for food, then they yell your name to pick it up. Been going to the doghouse for as long as I could remember, it has definitely had a big drop in food quality with a major up charge. Went for lunch today and had to wait in a long line due to no more online ordering. The hotdogs were cold and about half the size they used to be. The only decent part and that the loaded fries were decent. Sad to say but won't be going back for a few years or until ownership changes. The split dog with cheese used to be covered with lots of melted cheddar, and the two we ordered had cheddar sprinkled on. Also, they weren't hot. The whole family went tonight. Kids. Parents. Grandparents. Super friendly place. Full bar and lots of local beer options. Megan was very friendly. There was a guy playing Caribbean music live there...very cool vibe. The kids got split dogs. We got a couple of their "show dogs", lobster rolls, cheeseburger, fish tacos, the hangover fries!! Insane. The fries have a fried egg, shaved steak, cheese, all sorts of stuff. I couldn't get enough! The fish tacos and lobster rolls were a total surprise. Took the family over for the first time on 4th of July weekend. Very impressed, great fun atmosphere feels like a beach Island spot and so many options on food. I couldn't decide so I got a speciality dog and the fish taco special. Both were great!! Wifey and I visited The Dog House yesterday. We were in the mood for seafood, which in hindsight, probably meant that a restaurant that literally has "dog" in its name wasn't the best choice. However, other local establishments (the knack comes to mind) have both a good burger and fish sandwich. Their fries aren't bad either. As soon as I opened the cardboard lid on my fish and chips lunch for $18, I knew I was in trouble. The fried fish looked and smelled like Gorton's fish sticks, albeit with a much greasier finish than my air fryer produces using the same source ingredient. The fries were starchy, oil-laden, and reminded me of bargain freezer fries from Stop & Shop. I consumed one of the two austere seafood portions with some difficulty along with a few fries mixed in here and there for bad measure. Both the fish and fries ate heavy and greasy. The fish in particular had the texture and overly herbaceous taste of Gorton's and the consistency of canned tuna. The wife didn't complain about the fish sandwich while not complimenting it either. I offered her some of my fries, but after sampling one, she didn't go back for seconds. The coleslaw was completely inedible for both of us. The remainder of my meal, from the point the attached photo was taken, went in the trash. A waste of 35 bucks overall. Thankfully, the $3 Wendy's Baconator that followed was decent. I hope their hot dogs are better than their fish, but I won't be back to find out. Yuck. That said, bold move fastening the container's lid with metal staples. Nothing to go wrong there. read more

Our recent vacation was informally focused on how many hot-dog places I could hit and this was by far the most fun one. Their menu has a creative hot dog for everyone - even if you'd rather have a tofu dog! They also had a wide variety of beer/wine/canned cocktail options which was unexpected for the size of the place itself. I had my eye on, and immediately ordered the West Dennis Beach Dog which was complete with onion rings, mac and cheese and bacon bits. We weren't here to be healthy so why not commit? My boyfriend had the the Hot N Spicy dog (queso cheese, Flamin Hot Cheetos, seared jalapeños, hot sauce, sriracha, crushed red pepper) and replaced the hot dog with a tofu dog for a few extra bucks. Overall our meal was awesome. I'd say that the hotdog itself was not the most flavorful I had this week, though it had 7 other dogs to compete with. The tofu dog had a nice crunch to it and ended up being a great vegetarian option while still getting a slice of the fun ingredients. Another plus about the dog house was that they had a basket of all the hot sauces you could ever want to put on your dog and condiments on every table. What a vibe!! We LOVED this place! Stumbled upon The Doghouse after seeing great reviews and shoutouts on social media. We're staying nearby in Harwich and this was just a short drive! The atmosphere is awesome, classic beach town hot dog stand with a huge menu. Stacked hot dogs with any topping you can imagine (mac & cheese, BLT, classic chili cheese) and an even more expanded menu with loaded fries, seafood favorites and FROSE. The frose was awesome and I just loved the branding! We couldn't decide between the loaded tots or fries, so we asked the cashier to pick for us -- the loaded nachos tots were a phenomenal choice! I got the Junkyard Dog that had peppers, onions, bacon and cheddar cheese. The hubs got the West Dennis Beach Dog that was topped with mac & cheese, bacon bits and crispy onions. They were both so good! And even with all the toppings you still had that "snap" on the dog. My only regret was not getting a plain dog with ketchup and mustard just to see how good it was! Disappointing experience. Yes, the chili dogs are good as they should be. Two chili dogs, small onion rings, bottle of water, $25.63 plus a tip. Asked for a cup and was notified there was a charge for it. Pointed out that I bought a bottle of water for $3.99 and preferred to drink from a cup. She checked with the manager and returned telling me the cup was only available for a charge. I spoke to the manager and her first words were that she doesn't make the rules. The doghouse was pretty tasty. They are putting out some pretty good dogs. The Fourth of July dog crispy onions, coleslaw that slamming with tangy taste of barbecue sauce. The Mayflower with a garlic aïoli sauce with finger, licking good. The mac & cheese dog is surely a kids favorite. OK, how would you describe your chicken Caesar salad had juicy grilled chicken with crispy lettuce. And probably the most underrated was the cheesy tater tots. Those things were slamming.
