After many trips to Copper Mountain, we finally made it to JJ's Rocky Mountain Tavern, and I'm sad it took so long. We have always stayed in the west village and the fact that JJ's is in the east village always made it sound like too much effort to get to. But we finally took a ride on the Copper shuttle system and found it to be easy to use and dropped us right at the back door to JJ's. We made a reservation for our group of eight and arrived to find our table waiting. I had the standard chicken sandwich ($16.95) topped with your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle on a baked roll. This typically comes with seasoned waffle fries, but I opted to substitute for the onion rings, which were a great choice, though the waffle fries are also good. The chicken sandwich was good, nothing too crazy. Next time I would probably try one of their other options like the New Mexican version with cheddar, cotija, green chiles, and ancho chipotle sauce. Also worth ordering are JJ's Drumsticks which are huge! The draft beer list is solid and has something for everyone. We will definitely be back to JJ's in the future. read more

copper doesn't have many restaurants, but it has a few very good options and JJs fit the bill. we ordered the pasta mains and both were quite good, but the shrimp one was just better. First of all, there really isn't much in Copper Springs especially in June and July. The young man at our hotel guest check-in said they had a good burger. The burger was good, but it wasn't great or anything special. The ambience could use a touch up. There really isnt anywhere to park there, like if your passing through and want to stop, guessing most people walk from their hotels. the town is tiny and most of it is closed super early (6-7pm). So we appreciate the meal, but its not somewheres I would go out of my way to visit again now recommend travelers to stop. But the staff is nice! read more

Yummy ski lunch spot right off Copper mountain! The BBQ here is fantastic. I was shocked when our friends mentioned the BBQ was really good because I thought to myself how good can it actually be? Well it's pretty darn good if you ask me! The ribs fell off the bone, the pulled pork (not pictured) was spicy and delicious, the onion rings were perfectly breaded and crunchy and the wings were large and juicy. Not to mention we got the waffle fries - so good! You can't go wrong with the BBQ and wings here. Would definitely recommend this as a good stop for the times that you're looking for a great BBQ meal right off the Copper Mountain. It's located right at the base of the East Village/Mountain. I never expect ski town restaurants to be good with a captive audience. The restaurant itself isn't all that nice inside...I don't know how you manage to have a floor where people slip and slide wearing ski boots when that's your primary audience. It was kind of dirty - the ketchup was all slimy so we had to wrap napkins around it to make it usable, for instance. The service was good but obviously the place is understaffed (like every restaurant anymore). I got a santa fe chicken salad. The chicken was a bit more bland than I had hoped for, and the rest of the salad was good but not amazing. What set this place apart was...the waffle fries. My group skiied across the entire mountain to come here for the waffle fries. The waffle fries were actually really good, so if you like waffle fries, be sure to get them here. read more

Good job compared to many restaurants in the ski resort areas!! We went there with very low expectations as normally what would you expect from eating at the ski resort? You know what I mean .... :) Turned out the experience we had was great and it recharged our battery well during our ski break. Arrived the restaurant by 11 to avoid many people. We got to sit right away of course. After 11.30 we start see people coming and around noonish it was packed. This was on the weekend. In looking into the menu displayed outside, we thought it had a good selection of food and well priced so we gave it a shot. We ordered the Salmon Salad, Pizza, and the Nachos. Loved them all. Salmon Salad - I loved that you had mix of good greens and the golden beets were yummy. Good dressing and well balanced. Nachos - a scoop of Gua was great but the pulled pork was too cold. Would have been awesome if the meat on top was hot. Pizza - got the Hawaiian Pizza and we loved it. Service - our server Cassie was very attentive and took care of us well. Worst Nachos I've ever had.. there's no real cheese, just queso, it was barely dribbled over the top of this pathetic pile of chips. Mind you this is a half order still all the chips were broken and cold. In fact everything was cold. It was supposed to be a pork nachos. It was a pathetic excuse for pork nachos. It was some sort of pre-made chili that they just ladled on top of a nachos. I had to have the server find the pork for me. We asked our server if we could get a side of extra cheese due to the pathetic amount on the chips. He said his manager was going to upcharge us for it and that he had asked him. We said we didn't care we just wanted the cheese and he came back 20 minutes later and said they ran out. We also got the pizza. The smokehouse Pizza in fact. Also terrible. The dough was chewy and the cheese was barely melted on top. It needed another 5 minutes in the oven at least. The only positive was our server was a nice guy. You can do better Copper. read more

Went there with a group of 12 on Sunday night. We made reservations and got seated immediately. Potion is huge. Quality is what you expect from normal bar food but the service is quick. We ordered Brussels sprouts and Cauliflower (ran out of cauliflower), nacho chips and onion rings as appetizers for the big group. We were quite full after the appetizer. When our beloved Black Diamond Bar & Grill wasn't open for our traditional ski lunch, we opted for JJs Rocky Mountain Tavern. It was as busy as one could expect over the holidays and there was a wait for tables, but we ended up finding a hightop near the bar which is open seating. The menu has what you would expect from a mountainside sports bar and certainly fit the bill for lunch. I was hungry so went for one of their sandwiches off the grill. They have a few different flavor profiles and you can pick whether you want a burger, grilled chicken or black bean burger. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with guacamole, bacon and cheddar (Rosie's). It's served with waffle fries but you can sub soup or salad for $2.50. My dad got a salad with grilled salmon on top. Our food came out in pretty good time and the portions were big! I could barely finish my sandwich, less alone all the waffle fries that came with it. It hit the spot! They have a large bar with plenty of booze and cocktails to go with it. I've also dropped in before when they've had live music playing, usually later into the day, which creates a fun atmosphere. I would definitely opt for JJs over the standard ski area cafeteria, especially if you have a large group! read more

LOVE IT OR NOT, EVERYBODY HANGS HERE JJ's is that wildly popular, consistently above mediocre, somewhat pricey iconic eatery found in most major cities that people somehow feel obligated to disrespect (e.g The Oasis in Austin, Ted Drewes in St Louis, Gino's East in Chicago, Café du Monde in New Orleans, The Lobster Pot in P-town, etc.) LIKE THE ST. MORITZ SCENE IN THE PINK PANTHER JJ's patio (see pic) overlooking the double black diamond Super Bee lift in the East Village is the place to watch the best rippers plummet downhill while you drink pitchers of local beer and sun in the snow's reflective heat. The people watching and over-hearing can't be beat at Copper. SURPRISINGLY GOOD SERVICE & PRICE/VALUE I recommend the apps: balled chicken wings and tempura onion rings (pic). A $15 cheeseburger platter is better and cheaper here than Jack's Slopeside. And despite the fact that it seems to always be slammed, the staff are among the most efficient and pleasant I've encountered. read more

Be aware the super bee lift is which is right in front goes to mostly expert terrain. The food is a welcome change from endos and the incline bar at center village. This is a popular spot in the East Village side of Copper Mountain for people to have lunch or eat dinner after a full day on the slopes. It's located inside of the Copper Station building, where there is a shop, the place where you check in for the Tubing Hill, the food court on the 2nd floor, equipment rentals, and public lockers. Our friends were tubing for an hour, so the rest of went into JJs to escape the cold (they have outdoor seating with a little fire pit, but it was so cold that the fire didn't do us any good). Inside were a bunch of people drinking and eating. We grabbed some tables and a while later a server came by and brought us some menus. On the regular menu, they offer burgers, pot pies, burritos, soups, salads, onion rings, pizzas, and BBQ sandwiches. We were actually going to eat dinner later in town, so we just wanted to order drinks and fries. They have a specialty drinks menu they have things like Irish coffee, hot buttered rum, and whiskey chocolate (all perfect choices for a winter night!). A few of us ordered local beers and the specialty drinks, but I ordered a regular hot chocolate. We also ordered two baskets of the waffle fries (this isn't on the menu, but you can definitely order it), which were really yummy. This place gets pretty busy at night and the service was just all right. The server was efficient but could've been more friendlier and it took a while for us to get his attention at the end to get the check. Next time I'm snowboarding at Copper Mtn, I'll come back to this place for the grub (and more hot chocolate)! read more

The bar is fine. The beer selection is fine. The crowd is douchy. I mean, fine. Ugh, here's an annoyance - WHY do managers at bars like this have their live banks CRANKED UP? Most people in here would prefer talking to each other, not yelling over the music. But, the service was fine, and - like I said - the beer selection is, too.
