Crispy and delicious truffle tater tots
    Linda E.

Tavern West is one of my favorite restaurants in Frisco. Consistent in serving delicious food, servers are attentive and friendly. Food is fresh and presentation is always great. Whether you're coming with a casual group of friends, or looking for a date night spot, this is the place. Parking is always easy & gorgeous views of the mountains all throughout the year. They have quite a few new items on their menu this summer-- tonight my mom tried the Jamaican jerk cauliflower which came with a yummy quinoa salad & she absolutely crushed it. As a disclaimer she did mention you have to like spicy food as it did have quite a kick. Some of my favorites: -the beet salad -mahi mahi dish -roasted chicken -fried chicken sandwich Adding salmon as a side to the salads. Always fresh & well seasoned. -The roasted carrots and ricotta cheese appetizers & great for sharing. -Their spicy ginger mocktail THE DESSERTS. Yes, all of them. I do have a warm spot in my heart for their bread pudding, but I have yet to try one that I did not like.

We came close to missing out on this great dining experience when the online system showed no availability. Luckily, we called in and the restaurant was able to accommodate us. Restaurant was cozy and service was great! It's always nice when your server understands the menu and seems to have an appreciation for the food! As suggested by most Yelpers, we started off with the truffle tater tots..no regrets! Tots were perfectly cooked and truffle flavor was not too overwhelming. Can't go wrong with either the lamb or elk...but the sauce that comes with the elk really compliments the dish very well! The mashed potatoes were tasty as well - smoky and buttery...yumm! As a must - finish your meal with the white chocolate bread pudding with added vanilla ice cream! The restaurant is closing for 3 weeks since it's the low season. But definitely come when they reopen!

A group of friends and I were here visiting. Came for HH which has some good deals. Got the truffle tots which were delicious. Then the pork belly which was chewy and tough but the flavor was ok. A few of us got the Kobe beef burger. I asked for mine to be cooked medium rare but it was rare and I sent it back. My friend's burger was also undercooked and we both had mild GI upset from it the next day. My other friend got the fried chicken sandwich which had a decent amount of spice. Service was slow though they weren't that busy and the waiter forgot to bring one of my friends beers for over 20 min.

Visiting the area for snowboarding trip and decided to try this place with friends. Warm Beet Salad. 10/10 Everything was fresh and tasty. The goat cheese was in fact warm. However, I did not taste the beets were roasted. Maybe just sautéed. Fried Nashville hot chicken sandwich. 8/10. Very juicy and indeed spicy. The slaw was fresh and tangly. Paired with traditional french fries and a one of the best tasting sliced pickle Ive had. Seriously, as simple as a pickle but something special about this pickle. This would be a 10/10 had the portion of the chicken been bigger. For the price, I believe the portion of the chicken should have been bigger. Our server Oneydi took care of us really good coming by often to check on us.

Favorite spot in Frisco, maybe even all of Summit. Place can get popping so make sure to scoop a reservation during busy season. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend a spot on the beautiful outdoor patio during nice weather or by the fireplace inside on colder days. The bar is also great for a game with plenty of TV viewing angles. We routinely stop by for happy hour with great deals on food and drink. Always new specials each day and they rotate regularly based on what's available seasonally. Highly recommend the cocktails. They're made very tastefully and never overly sweet. Wine and beer lists are solid too. Lots of awesome apps depending on time of year. The carrots are great. Well cooked and have an awesome nut and goat cheese topping with herbs. Beet salad is great. Baked ricotta is one of our favorites. As is the smoked salmon dip. The rocky mtn bolognese is a go to for us. Same with the ribs and lamb chops. Ribs are fall off the bone. Burgers are also very well done. Lastly, the desserts are all top notch. They're made in house and rotate as well. Gotta make sure you don't skip the dessert with an after dinner drink especially if you're out on the patio on a warm summer night. Enjoy!

Came for family dinner and we tried many things! For starters we had the salad, salmon bruscetta & tater tots. I thought the bruscetta left something to be desired, and wished they hadn't run out of octopus. As for mains, we ordered the ribs, elk, lamb, tri-tip steak, roasted chicken & a few other dishes. I thought the elk was meh, my friend said the ribs were ok, the roasted chicken lacked flavor but the lamb chops were great and a sizable portion. Their smoked mashed potatoes were unexpected and delightful.

Great steaks and apps. Our server was very helpful with recommendations and answering any questions we had about the menu options. We tried pork belly and octopus for apps, and mains included pork chops, ribeye, elk, and lamb. All were awesome. We had a table near the bar but it wasn't loud like a sports bar. Ambiance was nice.

The Tavern West is a nice place to go to if you are looking for a fancy place to eat and drink! Although the vibe in their dining room is a little more upscale, they have a comfy bar area where you and your friends can sit and grab a quick bite to eat. Additionally I have always had good service here and their food is great! It's a standard American steakhouse and while you're there they have an amazing view of the mountains out front. Steak, cocktails, and a view of the mountains? What's not to love.

Great experience. Two of us came around 6:30 on Fri night and they were full but had two spots at the bar....Bingo! Good selection of local brews on draft. My son ordered the Rocky Mountain Bolognese ($27) and enjoyed it. I went with the Wood Grilled Salmon ($32) and it was a good choice...very flavorful entree. Service at the bar was friendly and prompt!

Ribs with smoked mashed potato's. Amazing!

Family night and as usual the food and staff delivered. Great atmosphere, best cocktails in Frisco Colorado.

We were able to sample the wine before getting a bottle which I appreciate. The wine we had was delicious. Now food was a little bit of a miss. We got a charcuterie board which was good. The cheese and salami selection was good and it came with crackers, marcona amonds, fig spread and olives. I mean honestly nothing fancy or unique about it. But it pairs well with wine. We also got the focaccia bread which I felt was kind of greasy. I didn't even dip it in the oil cause it had enough oil in its own. We also got the margherita flatbread, but that didn't feel like a flatbread at all. The bread was thick and made it feel more like a pizza. The taste was good so I won't knock it completely, but I wouldn't be calling that a flatbread. Service was great, just a shame the food doesn't live up to expectations. I'd probably stick to the wine and charcuterie which were the best things I had.

We were immediately greeted and shown to a table. Waitstaff was wonderful and joked with us as if we were old friends. That's always the best feeling. While they stayed professional we cracked up here and there! We started off with calamari. Both the red pepper marinara and spicy aioli hit the spot. Calamari was fresh out the fryer and brought to our table so quick! I ordered a lasagna Bolognese and that also came out fast and super fresh. I could only finish half of it and that was all that was needed to make the trek home. Keeping this place on the map. By the time we left it was nearly packed! The main drag has so many good options. This is certainly one of the spots to dine!

Food: I thought it was going to be just so-so, Olive Garden level italian food. I was wrong! I first asked our waiter, Brian, for recommendations and he said they were known for their Mama G's classic red sauce. We ordered the bruschetta and I got the linguini and meatballs, which has the famous red sauce. My gf got the lasagna and the greek salad. The bruschetta was delicious. I really hate it when restaurants throw diced tomato and basil on toast and call it bruschetta, Greco's did not. The crostinis were perfectly toasted - crispy but didn't crumble everywhere and didn't cut up the inside of your mouth. The balsamic reduction over the bruschetta was delicious, but I think the tomatoes, red onion, basil and garlic were mixed with some balsamic vinegar or something similar before being added to the crostinis and glazed. Vinegar should always be used to brighten veggies, not overpower them, and Greco's nailed the vinegar-tomatoes proportion. It was fresh, crisp, flavorful, and had the perfect amount of salt to enhance the tomato flavor. My girl's greek salad was huge. I didn't taste it, but I trust her opinion, and she said it was delicious. She didn't finish it but did take it back to the airbnb and is already snacking on it again :) The lasagna was delicious as well. The noodles were thin, so it didn't feel like we were biting into a chunk of pasta toast with sauce and ricotta as the butter, which happens often with lasagnas. This lasagna had the best ricotta cheese I have ever had. I asked the waiter if they used a bechamel sauce in the lasagna because of how creamy it was, but it was just the ricotta! They do not make it in house, I asked, and I wish I knew where it was from. Gf still won't stop talking about the lasagna and called her brother to tell him about it, lol. The star of the show: The red sauce. Our waiter wasn't kidding when he said it's delicious. I genuinely got mad when I tasted it because I've always been proud of my red sauce, and no sauce has ever beaten my recipe, but now I'm determined to scratch my recipe up and recreate this one. Sauce is the most important part of a pasta dish, so a plain sauce always means a plain dish, and you have to depend on parmesan to make it better. Not this one! It was a beautiful, bright red, fresh, tangy, with the smaaaaaaaaaallest hint of spice. I'm wondering if they add a splash of balsamic reduction for the tang? Not sure, but sure as heck wish I knew. It literally tastes as vibrant and bright as it looked. If there's one thing you try at this restaurant, it has to be a dish with the red sauce. Lastly, we got a free cheesecake with a homemade strawberry sauce. I didn't know the sauce was homemade until I bit into it and I literally wanted to throw my spoon down and stand up out of pure bliss like that guy on TikTok who checks meat for tenderism. It was so good. Strawberry sauce is often overpowering, just a thick, nasty, too-sweet syrup, but this sauce tasted more like a jam. I loved it. Drinks: I got water. Gf got riesling. She really liked it! Environment: Warm. As soon as you enter, it feels like you're walking into a cozy, golden little restaurant. They do have TVs all over, so if you're into sports, good for you! The lighting was not bright but not dim, it felt....gold? That's the best way I can describe it. It wasn't too loud in the restaurant, so you didn't have to speak up and you couldn't hear other people's conversations, but it also wasn't dead quiet and we did go when there were only about 4 other tables being used. So I really don't know about how loud it is when it's packed! It was also warm in there, which is nice for a Texan like me who isn't a fan of the cold ;) Overall the environment was very warm and welcoming. Price: Fair pricing! Actually, pretty affordable for such fresh and local ingredients! Our bill was about $100 for what we ordered and the two glasses of wine. I think that's pretty fair! Staff: I didn't catch the name of the guy who took us to our table, but he was very welcoming and kind! We chatted about what we're doing here in Colorado and he let us sit at the booth table right next to the window. He said it was the best seat in the house ;) He was great! We also LOVED Brian, our waiter. He was so welcoming, kind, attentive, he knew all about the menu, he was incredible. He literally made our nights from how much of a doll he was. This was my first night up here in Colorado ever, so he was the first Colorado-ian that I spoke to! I truly hope everyone else here in this state is as great as he was. Brian was the perfect introduction to the beauty and kindness of this state. The red sauce was great, but he was the highlight of our dinner.
