Just tried to eat at Tavern West today. They open at 4. We arrived at 10 minutes till 4. I walked here with a 6 and 4 year old and they would not let us sit on their patio/property until 4. They said there patio would be over run with customers if we sat down early. We did wait for a few minutes, but left because the kids were starting to melt down. There was no one around at all. The restaurant is well laid out, and the staff were friendly. I came for a good steak and ordered the tri-tip. I asked for it medium rare, but the meat arrived way overcooked--I understand the wait time, but still... The green beans were very dry and overcooked too. All in all, I was very disappointed. I didn't bother with dessert. And the total came to $48 just for the main course and a beer--far too expensive for such poor quality. read more

Tavern West is one of my favorite restaurants in Frisco. Consistent in serving delicious food, servers are attentive and friendly. Food is fresh and presentation is always great. Whether you're coming with a casual group of friends, or looking for a date night spot, this is the place. Parking is always easy & gorgeous views of the mountains all throughout the year. They have quite a few new items on their menu this summer-- tonight my mom tried the Jamaican jerk cauliflower which came with a yummy quinoa salad & she absolutely crushed it. As a disclaimer she did mention you have to like spicy food as it did have quite a kick. Some of my favorites: -the beet salad -mahi mahi dish -roasted chicken -fried chicken sandwich Adding salmon as a side to the salads. Always fresh & well seasoned. -The roasted carrots and ricotta cheese appetizers & great for sharing. -Their spicy ginger mocktail THE DESSERTS. Yes, all of them. We came close to missing out on this great dining experience when the online system showed no availability. Luckily, we called in and the restaurant was able to accommodate us. Restaurant was cozy and service was great! It's always nice when your server understands the menu and seems to have an appreciation for the food! As suggested by most Yelpers, we started off with the truffle tater tots..no regrets! Tots were perfectly cooked and truffle flavor was not too overwhelming. Can't go wrong with either the lamb or elk...but the sauce that comes with the elk really compliments the dish very well! The mashed potatoes were tasty as well - smoky and buttery...yumm! As a must - finish your meal with the white chocolate bread pudding with added vanilla ice cream! The restaurant is closing for 3 weeks since it's the low season. A group of friends and I were here visiting. Came for HH which has some good deals. Got the truffle tots which were delicious. Then the pork belly which was chewy and tough but the flavor was ok. A few of us got the Kobe beef burger. I asked for mine to be cooked medium rare but it was rare and I sent it back. My friend's burger was also undercooked and we both had mild GI upset from it the next day. My other friend got the fried chicken sandwich which had a decent amount of spice. Service was slow though they weren't that busy and the waiter forgot to bring one of my friends beers for over 20 min. read more

Visiting the area for snowboarding trip and decided to try this place with friends. Warm Beet Salad. 10/10 Everything was fresh and tasty. The goat cheese was in fact warm. However, I did not taste the beets were roasted. Maybe just sautéed. Fried Nashville hot chicken sandwich. 8/10. Very juicy and indeed spicy. The slaw was fresh and tangly. Paired with traditional french fries and a one of the best tasting sliced pickle Ive had. Seriously, as simple as a pickle but something special about this pickle. This would be a 10/10 had the portion of the chicken been bigger. For the price, I believe the portion of the chicken should have been bigger. Favorite spot in Frisco, maybe even all of Summit. Place can get popping so make sure to scoop a reservation during busy season. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend a spot on the beautiful outdoor patio during nice weather or by the fireplace inside on colder days. The bar is also great for a game with plenty of TV viewing angles. We routinely stop by for happy hour with great deals on food and drink. Always new specials each day and they rotate regularly based on what's available seasonally. Highly recommend the cocktails. They're made very tastefully and never overly sweet. Wine and beer lists are solid too. Lots of awesome apps depending on time of year. The carrots are great. Well cooked and have an awesome nut and goat cheese topping with herbs. Beet salad is great. Baked ricotta is one of our favorites. As is the smoked salmon dip. The rocky mtn bolognese is a go to for us. Same with the ribs and lamb chops. Ribs are fall off the bone. Burgers are also very well done. Lastly, the desserts are all top notch. I thought the bruscetta left something to be desired, and wished they hadn't run out of octopus. As for mains, we ordered the ribs, elk, lamb, tri-tip steak, roasted chicken & a few other dishes. I thought the elk was meh, my friend said the ribs were ok, the roasted chicken lacked flavor but the lamb chops were great and a sizable portion. Great spot when it's open--frustratingly inconsistent hours Tavern West has a cool local vibe, upscale atmosphere, great food, and solid service. Parking is easy and free. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown is their unreliable hours. The schedule seems to change on a whim, and online maps are often wrong. It feels like they only open when they feel like it, which is disappointing. My husband and I would visit more often if we could count on them being open. The Tavern West is a nice place to go to if you are looking for a fancy place to eat and drink! Although the vibe in their dining room is a little more upscale, they have a comfy bar area where you and your friends can sit and grab a quick bite to eat. Additionally I have always had good service here and their food is great! It's a standard American steakhouse and while you're there they have an amazing view of the mountains out front. Great dinner. We made reservations and even though it wasn't too busy I'm glad we did. We went in a Thursday night, I could see this place filling up fast on the weekend. I had the Elk Medallions my wife had the pork chop. The kids both had burgers. Our meals were delicious, we paired them with a brown ale and one of the house cocktails and it was just perfect. Off the beaten path of Main Street, low key and reasonably classy. Just did apps, so can't comment on entrees. Went with gf for happy hour app dinner snacker. Got the tater tots, which were hot and fresh and came with a dipping sauce. Octopus was really tasty, could have eaten more, kind of a small serving, but we're a long a way from an ocean. Bruschetta was tasty with smoked salmon but the pork cracklings were really just (store bought?) pork rinds with (tasty!) pickled veggies. Entrees looked good but a bit pricy. Good ambiance, can carry on a conversation at the bar easily and it was in that resort town sweet spot of classy and casual for most people. Bartender was friendly enough. Great restaurant on scenic Main Street in downtown Frisco. Everything was delicious. I went with the rotisserie chicken, it was perfect. Others in my party ordered a rib eye and a couple burgers, everyone loved their meal. Service was great as well. What went well was everything! Every town has its favorite local haunt and this restaurant touches all of the bases. The lamb is from a very close ranch in Leadville and is everything you want lamb to be. The appetizers and quite frankly over the years that I have eaten there I've never been disappointed. I've been to this restaurant three times now and this last visit was probably the least impressive. The ambience is always good and the art work is very Colorado, but the food wasn't up to its usual standards. I appreciate the rotating seasonal vegetarian option but they used to have this pesto gnocchi that should be a staple. The squash with wild rice I ordered instead was saved by the spicy sauce and cotija cheese. The folks next to me really seemed to enjoy the Bahn Mi though, leaving me wishing I'd ordered that instead. Great spot for dates nights and rotating menu are the redeeming qualities. read more

I had the Kobe Steak, OMG, melt in your mouth and the smoky mashed potatoes were unbelievable! For desert we had the flourless cake. Ok, at 1st bite wasn't sure, totally different texture. 2nd bite got more of the caramel sea salt sauce in the bite. It may have changed my life. Unbelievable. It's my birthday and we arrived on time. despite 100 open tables(don't mind waiting we get the labor shortage better than most). The hostess asked us to wait in the space between the outside and the restaurant. It was freezing in there and I have my 10 year old with me. After the hostess was insanely rude (I own my own business and if anyone ever spoke to a customer as she did I'd fire them on the spot) one of their drunken patrons started in lol. Instead of wasting time in a filthy poorly run place we chose to just leave. I hope that no one ever goes there again. This was insane to have a hostess be rude like that. I am still shocked and will continue to report across all media outlets I can. Colorado is too awesome and Frisco is truly amazing and beautiful despite the resident trash restaurant otherwise know as "Tavern West" I still can't imagine one of my staff ever getting into it with a customer. That's the new world with no labor I guess. Now we have people who don't care about the business at all. read more
