Excellent, Thorough, Professional, Courteous Traveling from out of state to buy a car, Mr Kim fit a pre-purchase inspection in on a Saturday morning. He took the time to discuss the vehicle and the process prior to starting his work, he was very patient and attentive from the beginning. He took the vehicle on a test drive, afterwards performing a complete and thorough inspection. After he completed his work, with the car still on the lift, we walked around the vehicle and he explained his opinions, observations, & concerns. A great family run service shop for all makes and models. "J" and family welcome you in and treat you like a valued customer. Any promises made have been kept in a very timely manner and they have always made time to fit us in. We recently had an issue with a window that didn't go up and they were able to find a replacement and repair it within a day. As a single woman, and I'm sure many other women can relate, whenever I have to take my car in, I am usually a target for jargon and unnecessary repairs in order to make more money. This was honestly the first time I did not feel like a target. Jae Kim was very honest, and did not pressure me at all. He took the time to explain to me exactly what was going on with my car, and even a timeline of when he felt repairs would truly be necessary. My window wiper motor needed to be replaced (arms stopped moving completely and made no noise when I turned it on). I got estimates at 3 places before I decided to come here: 1) Pearsons Honda dealership was the MOST expensive. Around $400 2) Merchants Auto was around $350 3) Allen Tire ($68 for the diagnostic check + $128.95 for an after-market window wiper motor + $103 labor per hour = $300 I almost decided to go to Allen Tire Auto Shop, but I ran into a friend who gave me a solid recommendation to come to JK Auto Shop when his window wiper stopped working last winter (his turned out to be just s sensor problem because while the arms stopped moving, it still made clicking noises when you turned it on). In terms of price, JK Auto beat all the competing shops in the labor per hour at $90 and gave me the most competitive price for the car part. While I was waiting in the shop, I met a big, friendly guy who stopped by to say hello to Jae and to just hang out for while. The guy's name is David, Jae's car part supplier. I suspect Jae gets great wholesale prices from David, who then passes his savings unto his customers. At the reception, there's this friendly guy named Joe who is also a fitness buff. He and his brother used to be the previous owners of the shop and they sold it to Jae 2 years ago. But Joe still sticks around to help out with the transition and connects Jae to their existing customer base. The owner, Jae seems well liked and well-connected with different people in the car fixing industry. In term of service, my wipers work great and Jae and this other guy are speedy with their work. I was in and out in 1 hour 15 min. Update!! On 2/29/16 I got my battery installed and the battery terminal was corroded so they fixed that too! They accommodated me even though I didn't have an appt and it was the last day of the month which is the busiest day for car shops I hear. I was in and out and it was a breeze. Thanks again JK! I went here a while back bc my brakes were squeaking very badly and I'd been told by the dealership that they were pretty worn down and I'd likely have to change them soon. Well when they started squeaking, I tried to make an appt w the dealership but it was two wks out. So I tried JK Auto bc of the high reviews and they were awesome! Receptionist was really polite and nice, and Jae himself was really forthright and upfront. He called me after looking over the brakes and I was almost POSITIVE I would've had to change out the brakes completely. But instead he told me he had cleaned them up and there was no need to change them, that they actually had quite a lot of mileage left in them. He actually suggested I don't change them even though I am not knowledgeable about cars and would've taken his word if he'd said I ought to. I was really impressed by how honest he was when it would have been easy for him to make a much bigger buck. If I have any other car issues, I'm definitely coming back here. Jae & Adam worked so hard to repair my AC! My 4 year old Forester's AC compressor randomly died and I had a few leaks in the system. JK worked on my car until all the leaks were found and repaired. They also found an affordable compressor replacement for me. My car has been nice and frosty since! The person who answered told me to come in, i have a 2015 car that needs synthetic oil, everywhere else i called wanted $80+, here they told me $59.99 but i had a yelp coupon so it came out to half of that!! the waiting area was comfortable and it took about 40 minutes to complete the work. Called in the morning to ask if they'd have space to do an oil change and was assured it would be fine. When I arrived, they remembered my call, which I appreciated. I asked to use the yelp coupon but it isn't applicable to full synthetic oil changes. Instead, they offered to take $10 off for me. Was told it would take about 45 minutes so I went for a walk. It took less than 45 minutes but I only realized this when I walked back and saw the car waiting. I took a star off because I think they should've called me when they were done. Otherwise, I didn't have an issue, and would go there again. Total cost was about $45. read more

Well all the reviews were right they are excellent from the moment you walk into the door. They treat you with kindness and are genuine. They helped with the price even though I never asked they automatically were willing to tell me how I could save. So they beat all the competition around , in price. They filled all my fluids and filled up my tires with air. Now here this is my second time around, I called last minute and told them I was sorry I really needed an oil change because I'm leaving to go out of town they again blew me away they fitted me into their schedule even though it was last minute. I called a day ahead and the man on the phone said they didn't have any open spots when I had available time, but he squeezed me in. When I got there they took my car in right away. Excellent, reasonably-priced service. I first went to JK to get my car inspected and tires replaced. They were quick, honest, and gave me a good price. I had such a good experience with them that when my friend was looking at buying a car, I suggested that she bring it to JK to get it checked out. Jae did a workup and looked into the legitimacy of the car. Turns out the guy trying to sell the car to my friend was trying to scam her, and we wouldn't have known (seriously, it wasn't one of those obvious craigslist scams) if it wasn't for him. Jae confronted the guy about discrepancies between his description of the car and the actual car, and my friend didn't have to worry about it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

My first experience with JK Auto was when I blew my engine in 2013. My mechanic at the time told me that they would only put in a new engine and at a tremendous cost. At the recommendation of my neighbor I gave Jae a call, he gave me an estimate on a used engine at a much more affordable price. Jae gave me daily updates on the progress of the repairs and of the cost. The repair was done in a timely manor and at a cost that beat competitors. 3 years later my engine is running great! WORST! WORST! WORST! Worst auto care shop in Richmond area. I have been in lot of auto shops for my car services but never ever seen such a worst customer service. I went here since they had good review online. I think there is something fishy with the reviews across websites. I paid for full engine light diagnosis and they gave me 2 sensor problems, which I paid to correct it. Immediately in 2 minutes, when I picked up my car, the engine light came back. When I approached them they were rude and asked for additional diagnosis cost, which did not made any sense. They denied for any sort of refund and started using abusive words. I DO NOT recommend this place. Better go to other stores where you get good service, value for your money and people respect you as customer. read more
