The fruit tart is delicious. Something different a little bit of crunch from what seems to be Filo dough, some sweet fruit, and soft yellow cake layer. It's definitely a yummy combination. Plus the cream whether it whip icing or a cream icing isn't over sweet. Highly recommend. A colleague brought a "milhojas" cake from JK Bakery to one of our pot luck events. As she revealed the milhojas cake the visual was amazing. We were all so impressed with the how beautifully decorative it was. Like, almost too pretty to eat. Many people took pictures, because it looked that pretty. Milhojas means thousand leaves / thousand layers. This is because of how it is made, by layering thin slices of pastry over each other with a light crème filling in between. The taste was delightful!! The crème filling was very light not overly sweet, and the fruit topping was totally fresh. The tasty flaky pastry was ohh soo incredible to eat. I totally went back for seconds, as many others did too. From what my colleague said, it's a small mom-n-pop establishment, popular with the locals, and very affordable. This is a little bakery in the same shopping center as a NorthGate, Little Caesars and Pollo Loco ( I think). That being said there is ALWAYS a lot of people here during the day! But do believe me when I say that this bakery is the STAR of the show! Their fruit cake is the EPITOME of amazing! All of the fruits are fresh the cream is perfect. Not too bland nor too sweet. Just...perfect. The prices are pretty good as well! A good sized cake is about $40. Well worth it, trust me. Needless to say, my family and I go to JK Bakery for EVERY celebration and have always been satisfied! My family and I have been coming to this place for YEARS, and I would always recommend this place and a lot of our friends have started coming here because of us, but after today I will NEVER refer another person there nor will I ever go back. Today was my nephews birthday and we pre-ordered our cake (made a specific way because my nephew is picky). When we went to pick up our cake the staff were completely lost. Then they realized what was going on...apparently someone walked in, saw our cake and said it was theirs. So without asking for the name the cake was under or verifying that he was the correct person they gave him our cake. So they said we would have to wait while they made a new cake for us, obviously this was upsetting because the party was suppose to start soon and people were showing up. The staff were EXTREMELY rude to us and mad at US for being upset, gave us dirty looks and were short tempered with us. I couldn't believe the way they were treating us when they were the ones who made the mistake. I would understand if we were being outrageous but we handled the situation pretty calmly giving the circumstances. After all of our years of coming here for almost every bday event I expected to be treated like a loyal customer, not someone who was trying to do them wrong. I've been to this place a couple of times to pick up a cake for my coworkers birthdays and I was really impressed by the flavor and costumer service. The location is not the greatest and it looks a little messy inside but never judge a book by its cover!!! They have a few cakes on display and they are baked daily. We always order the large fruit cake ($45) and it's more than enough for 35+ people. They also use fresh fruit and their frosting is very light yet tasty. I don't think I would get a cake here if I wanted a specific theme or something too elaborate, but I totally would for any other occasion. read more

I was in a hurry when I came into the shop, so I quickly went through their children's birthday cake catalog and chose the Winnie The Pooh one with the balloons and trees. It's ugly, but I thought my 3 year old would like it since it's the most festive and least cheap looking. I asked them to replace the Pooh toys with Hello Kitty, and they wrote that down on the receipt along with my daughter's name. I left the shop just hoping they transform the pooh cake into something a little girl would love. The next day, my husband picked it up and as soon as he walked through the door I peeked through the box! I was so surprised! It looked nothing like the Pooh cake! They made it fun, pink, girly, and just all around cute. They even added 3D balloons to the cake, when the catalog only showed drawn-on balloons with frosting. I didn't even have to go into detail of how I wanted my cake to be, but they figured: Girl, 3 years old, hello kitty, and BOOM! I was happy, my daughter was super happy, and my guests loved the cake! We got a 1/4 sheet tres leches cake for $35, all strawberry filling. Some bakeries charge extra for all strawberry, but JK doesn't. Awesome! I can't complain. I just walked in the door from picking up my first cake from JK Bakery. I found them on Yelp, so I wanted to get right to the good news about JK: customer service is alive and well!!! I needed a last minute birthday cake. The woman who answered the phone (forgot to get her name) said she would make a yellow cake with strawberry filling and creme frosting as I drove over. Whew! Only a half hour before closing, a full shop of what looked like regular customers, she picked up the pastry tube and proceeded to write his name. Then put some strawberries on to garnish. She never huffed and puffed or acted like she was being inconvenienced. I absolutely love that she valued the business of a new customer. What a great shop! I understand this cake is going to be amazing. I have already had a slice from an event at work. It was. The only complaint I have is you will find "Panderia" with JK Bakery underneath in small letters. It's next to the big drug store so don't miss it!. Cakes are good, I would give it a 3.5 Star for taste. Cake is moist and its not too sweet. I get the cake with the crunch sheets. My 2 Star rating is for the Theme Decorations. Quite disappointing to be honest. I ordered a Disney Frozen Theme cake for my daughter's 4th birthday on Saturday morning. They showed me the picture and it looked great. I bought a 1/4 Sheet cake + the Theme which came out to be $32 which feeds about 10-12 ppl (pricey for a sheet cake). I needed it at 9AM on Sunday morning, they man I spoke to asked if it could be a little later since they actually open at 9AM and I agreed and put the time as 9:30AM. I had a family member pick up the cake the following day and it was not ready. It wasnt until 9:50AM that it was ready (we had the birthday event about an hour a way and this severly made us late). When my family member got the cake she said it looks NOTHING like the picture. So when I saw it with my own eyes, I was in shock of how POOR the quality was. I understand they never duplicate a photo 100% but I cant even say it was 50% close to the photo I saw (please see the photos I posted on Yelp). If it wasnt for the Toy centerpiece, it couldnt have been saved. I didnt have time to return it and went to celebrate my daughters birthday. I went to the shop a couple days later to show them pictures of their cake. I spoke to Lien. She was apologetic but very persistant that it was not their problem that the cake was not to my liking. She said that her decorators can get shakey and rush through it but still, it was not her problem that I did not like it. I told her that from the borders, color selection, frosting did not come CLOSE to the picture they showed me. She said that no baker can duplicate a photo and this is as close as they can get it. She persistantly said, I'm sorry but I cant do anything about your complaint because it's not our fault. I was SHOCKED. We both were calm and cordial to each other but we did not see eye to eye. She said she's the boss and there is nothing she can do, then she said to send her the picture so she can show the boss (confusing?!). She said next time I come in, she will give me a free theme with cake purchase and said "That's all I am going to do. That's $8 for you." I took it and then left. Like I said, cakes are good, I've bought them many times, but this was my first time buying a theme cake. I wont make that mistake again. To be honest, my 4 year old daughter can do better. read more

I asked for a cake that would feed about 15 people and it came out to be $25. Super cheap! Although some may argue that Little Saigon is the best place to order cakes, JK Bakery is also a very good choice. I put in an order for a very large cake and the service was very friendly and welcoming. I had no problems and everything went very smoothly. DELICIOUS SPONGE CAKE! The fruit were all fresh and very tasty. Also, I love the attention to detail, especially in the flowers. I could tell the cake was fresh because the sponge wasn't soaked. I will certainly buy again.
