After getting heartbreakingly denied Senorita bread at our first bakery stop, we launched a last-minute pastry rescue mission and rolled into Starbread Bakery (Anaheim) 5 minutes before closing. Thankfully, they took pity on two desperate bread hunters. When they told me the only option was buying an entire tray of 60 Senorita breads, I acted shocked for about half a second before enthusiastically saying, "Deal!" 15 mins later, we were handed a box of pure happiness. Naturally, hubby and I had to perform a thorough quality-control inspection in the car. 6 pieces each later (strictly for research purposes, of course), we confirmed the verdict: fresh, hot, buttery, soft, chewy, perfectly sweet, and dangerously addictive!!! Stopped by Starbread in Anaheim and now I totally understand why locals love this place so much. While I was there, multiple people were telling me their favorite things to order and insisting I try the señorita bread and they were absolutely right. It came out warm, buttery, soft, and slightly sweet. Definitely one of those things that's impossible to eat just one of. They have a huge variety of baked goods too. I tried the pistachio and ube mochi donuts which were both delicious, and they also had malasadas filled with different creams, walnut brownies, classic donuts, and lots of fresh packaged bread to take home. Found myself in Anaheim and had to go get a box for myself to bring home for the fam. The lady behind the counter was friendly. After some deliberation ended up getting 30 which was the right move. Also noticed they had pan de sal which was equally soft so grabbed a bag. Im very picky with pan de sal. Every bakery makes them different. StarBread Pan de sal had nice texture and was very soft even outside the oven so I enjoyed them. They are on the smaller size but would rate solid 4/5. Delicious star bread! The shop is at the very end of a plaza, tucked away near a Zankous and Ding Tea. What can I say? I love small bakeries! I tried the original star bread. It has a sweet buttery filling and is made hot and fresh daily. Was fortunate to sample a little piece and was drawn in by the warm, and comforting taste!! I've come a couple of times since my last review, and it's still same same. The senorita bread is still their star of the show and is a popular item to bring to parties. I like that the bread is made to order and comes out piping hot. Sometimes too hot to handle. I'm still convinced mine was slightly undercooked because it was doughy at the bottom, and it's gooey when I bit into it--like cheese-pull status. Service is non-existent, and the store lacks welcoming vibes. The woman at the front wasn't friendly and didn't seem to want to be there, and I felt like I was a burden to her. Finally got to see what all the hype was about and I see why! We purchased a 30pc box of their starbread and it was so fresh and yummy. If you're wondering what it tasted like, I'd say it tastes like a hot Hawaiian roll that's a little chewier and sweeter. I expected it to have more filling inside but it's very lightly sweetened and perfect if you want a pastry to dip in your coffee. I wouldn't recommend their enseymadas because I got a 4pk and we didn't think it was good/worth the price. I knocked down a star because the lady working the front had horrible customer service. She did not greet us, all she said was "yes" when it was our turn. She punched in our order, turned around the tablet to pay, then she walked away. No thank you, not a "just a moment," nothing. Ewww. We came in after a visit to Knotts and after a disappointing visit to their Riverside location where they had almost nothing left. This place was the complete opposite and they were fully loaded with so many baked goodies that I had a hard time restraining myself. They had on display so many various stuffed malasadas, different types of bagged pandesal as well as various flavors of bagged stuffed señorita bread. They also had fresh plain señorita bread in the back where we got an order of 20 and it was all gone in less than 24 hours! The aunty working the counter was so sweet and helpful, she made sure we got the freshest packaged breads by telling us to pull from the back of the displayed goods and check the expiration dates. I found this place by watching a food reviewer from the Bay area review StarBread multiple times. So I bookmarked it for my next time up there. Señorita Bread - 4 Star - A light, small, bread roll, baked so it's got a hallow inside and the top is lightly dusted with sugar. The surprise is the syrup that forms then saturates at the bottom of the bread. When warm it almost melts in your mouth. I have eaten them both hot and cold, and hot (even reheated) is absolutely the way to go. read more

I finally tried star bread seniorita bread! It was warm and on the bottom it has a sugar caramelized texture it's like the top sugar part of a creme brûlée! It was good Around 5-6pm their donuts were 50% off! Pistachio mochi donut was such a pretty mint green color and it had sprinkles. It was good. These little pinky length delights are great no matter the occasion. They're best fresh and hot, but they're tasty toooooooo if you warm them in the toaster if you somehow let them get cold or to room temperature. I know they don't last a real long time in my home. So I heard about this place, and have been wanting to try their famous señorita bread. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a small Filipino bakery in a strip mall off of Ball Road and Gilbert Street. Their sign isn't loud so it may be hard to locate, but it's at the end of the strip mall along Ball Road, away from Gilbert Street (tucked in the corner).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's about a 10-minute drive from Disneyland. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I arrived on a Wednesday before 10:00am back in April, and the parking lot was pretty empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were maybe two customers in front of me, but I think they were waiting for fresh señorita bread so I ended up having to wait a while for them to finish. While I was waiting, I saw the already packaged señorita bread and ended up picking those up because the wait was taking longer than expected. I bought the nutella ($5.00), dulce de leche ($5.00), and ube señorita bread ($5.25), and the cheese pimiento buns ($4.00). I also got the ube cream, guava, and dulce de leche malasadas ($2.50ea). Their nutella and dulce de leche breads were pretty good. The bread was slightly sweet and very moist, kind of like a stickier version of King's Hawaiian sweet rolls. They definitely tasted better if heated up in the microwave for a few seconds. Personally, I'm not a caramel person, so the dulce de leche one was too sweet for me. I wasn't a fan of the ube one though. The ube cream looked like it seized up somewhere during baking so it was grainy. The cheese pimiento rolls were also on the sweeter side since the buns were already sweet. The malasadas were good, but not a huge difference for me between them and regular donuts filled with cream. I had never tried señorita (Spanish) bread before (actually a Filipino bread). I didn't realize that the pricing on the wall was for the Spanish bread. We got five for $4! They brought it out piping hot and fresh and my god. They were a revelation. The bottom was a tiny bit crisp from the butter inside the dough, and you could taste the sugar butter filling inside, but it was rolled in, and thus more like a flavor note where everything melded beautifully in your mouth. I had one later at night and these are definitely best had fresh. We also ordered the half off, day old mochi donuts. I wasn't impressed with the texture but my friend enjoyed them. This was my first time coming here. I've had this at a party and it was SO SO good! Came in on a Friday morning around 10 expecting to see a long line. To my surprise, there was just one person ahead of me. I got a box of 40 starbreads and it was about $32! Very reasonable for these amazing fairly sweet breads I also got 2 custard malasadas. I'm from Hawaii, and for us, a malasada is a Portuguese fried donut with sugar on it. This was no malasada that I'm familiar with. It was more like a custard filled donut. It was eh...ok. The custard was just ok too. The ratio of custard to donut was spot on. I'd probably just stick to the starbreads.
