If your looking for a place like Home Depot to assist you in helping you find something you've found the place. Worst customer service, 0 return policy they say they will do returns and what ever you do don't ask for a manager the owner will come out and tell you to get out of his store in very angry face and tone. I went there for about five simple items they were out of 3 of the 5 items. So if your your looking for electronic items I would highly advice you to search elsewhere. Jk electronics advertises it self as selling wire, test equipment I also bought a volt meter I've brought it back twice first time they sold it to me with dead batteries then I went back and it bounces around not giving you proper read but they claim it's working fine. JK saves the day!! I am so thankful to these guys. I am a new owner of a photobooth machine and the Friday before a huge corporate event I was planning on debuting the photobooth at, I broke the cord that supplies power to the photo booth. It's a very unique, funky cord that no one could figure out, definitely nothing I could pick up at a Frys or a Best Buy. I brought it by and even though they didn't have the exact part needed they were able to troubleshoot and splice a new plug onto the existing cord so that I could plug it into the photo booth. It worked! The booth functioned, we had a blast and best of all, they charged me only the cost of the part, which was $2!!! I'm a lifetime customer now. I came here on a Saturday afternoon looking for an h-bridge for a robot I was assigned to create for a project. Upon entering the store, the cashier asked me if I needed help (hence the extra star). When I asked for an h-bridge he directed me to the back where there are so-called specialists when it comes to electronic parts. So as I walked to the back, I asked about getting an h-bridge, thinking that they would help me out (I don't know too much about parts, I came here thinking they would give me advice). They asked me for the part number and they told me that they can't recommend me anything. Luckily, the cashier told me the part numbers for the h-bridge. I also needed an inverter, so again I didn't have the part number. I asked if they had inverters, and the guy in the back again said I needed the part number, so I explained what I needed it for. Again, he can't sell it to me unless I have the part number, so he gives me a huge book of parts......no way am I going to look through a book of a billion parts to try and find the part on my own. So I grab the h-bridges and head to the front to pay for the parts. As I pay, I ask the cashier if he knew about inverters, and the cashier tells me I need to do more research before I come to the store. So, if you are searching for advice in electronic parts, then don't come here. I'm eventually going to need more parts for all of my projects and no way I'm coming back to this place. read more

Ive had to come here 3 times trying to get the right components for a project I'm working on and half of the parts they sold me from the parts list I showed them were the wrong parts. When I went to return the items, after being told that I COULD return them if they weren't the right parts, they rejected my request and told me that the parts had been used. Well how am I supposed to know whether or not the parts work or are correct until i use them. This is the only place I've ever heard of that wouldn't take back something. And it may not have been so bad had the Long-blonde-haired clerk not been so condescending and rude about it. Here I am, trying something new and he feels the need to belittle me and put me down in front of the other customers. Some of the people at Fry's may not be very well versed in electronics but at least they know how to take care of their customers. i'll be taking my business there from now on. read more

I stop by every once in a while to load up on supplies for my engineering classes at CSULB. Hey got everything you need. The staff is very helpful and most of their stuff is a bargain. I walked in earlier this week to buy some LED's. I was blown away to find a small bag of assorted LED's (estimating about 100 or less) for $5.95. Compare that to the 2-pk of LED's for $2-$3 from Radioshack down the street. This is my permanent electronics store, regardless of the extra 10-15min drive to LB from LA. read more

I went there looking for some resistors and when I asked for some help they replied with some smart ass reply. JKE is a gem: the very antithesis of the gold-standard of electronic component cluelessness, Radio Shuck (and jive). Whereas RS employees are hired dumb as rocks in terms of product knowledge and seem to take great pride in remaining so, the JKE guys are true electronics geeks. The aforementioned dude with the pierced eyebrow can be a bit off-putting at first but believe me, he KNOWS his stuff. As stated by a prior reviewer, prices may be a bit more than online (though not always) but there is a reason: it costs money to pay the overhead of a real store and I, for one, am happy to shell out for the convenience of being able to grab the final widget needed to complete a project LOCALLY, WITHOUT having to play shipping roulette with some yahvitz on Ebay. So yesterday I went to the store and I had a great experience but when I went to pay I could not use my credit card because it did not have a chip. That was very strange but all in all it was not good. The least they could of down was posted signs to let the public know so that we would not have to spend hrs in the store then finding out we had to make a special trip to go get cash. read more

I only recently found JK's but from what I have seen so far I am impressed. It a strange store, from the front it looks tiny, but as you go inside it just keeps going and going! I don't think they could cram any more stuff into this space. They have a great selection of items, and I get the feeling this place has been around a while as they still have the old metal parts drawers that hold those hard to find small items. The times I have been in here I have yet to stump them with what I was looking for, they seem to have one of everything! Check them out, even if you don't buy you will have fun. Helpful staff and the store has quite a surprising variety of "stuff" to satisfy any electronic buff. Unfortunately, we didn't find what we were looking for (the right adaptor for our laptop AC charger) but that did not take away from the neat tidiness of the shelves, the variety they offer or the willingness to help from the staff. I used to come here to this store during my CSULB days for some of my projects. I remember going there for my micro controllers and electrical circuit classes to build an interface with a speaker, an LED display. I just remember spending around $100 dollars for a project a blackjack game that I got a B+ on because I built it on more software. I remember a female working there that was very nice and friendly and helped me get components that I needed on my shopping lists. From the pictures looks like the place still looks outdated and from the 70's. I got the student discount on $10 dollars a good place to go for if you are student doing a project, unfortunately only Frys would carry this kind of stuff. read more

I've been having so many problems with my Samsung fridge. I brought my circuit board in to JK the people were so friendly, kind and very honest. I told them I've been having a lot of problems with my refrigerator. They did not have the circuitboard that I needed. So they referred me to OCAP supply in Garden Grove. It was so nice to have them send me somewhere where actually they could help me!! Not very many stores will go out of their way to help. But JK cares. They gave me a Business card to OCAP Supply. If you have any issues with electronics JK is the place to go, there willing to help and they actually care for their customers!! I am an amateur radio operator who loves to build and experiment. I usually Hoover up what parts i need at either the Chino Hills or TRW swap meet every month. But if I have holes in my parts list, I drop by here. I have *never* been treated OTHER THAN cordially and with patience. Because I like tech stuff does not mean I know a lot so -- often -- I will go in and ask the guys behind the parts counter to explain and advise me as to the part I need. They are patient and friendly and provide the necessary advise freely. Another point that is good is the fact that the cashier will *show* you where the parts are located if you ask (provided he's not busy). Prices are another matter, though. They may be a little higher than the stuff you get off of eBay but they are quality parts -- and no Chinese knock-offs. Also, take some time to snoop around and yo might find some very useful values. A while ago, I raided the place for some quality/reasonably prices air variable caps and a ton of their crystals. Still smile when I look at them in my junk box waiting for a project. Now, I have seen that they have some old computer switchers on sale. Pretty easy matter to make a decent 12 VDC/5 VDC bench supply out of 'em if you like. ..and I see where they are selling the Raspberry Pi there for $35 or so. Hurry on down! read more

It is difficult to rate this store. Considering that it is the only place for miles that stocks components, related tools and supplies - it has to get five stars. These stores are becoming extinct. The best way to keep them around is to support them. JK has been around forever. I remember driving from Woodland Hills (SFV) to Orange County back in the 1970's to get special parts. For routine components and such their prices are very competitive. I purchased a package of "name brand" fuses (five in a pack) for $3.71. They also carry audio stuff that is difficult to find elsewhere. Someone stated for Nerds - Not True. They assist everyone. While helpful to all, they sell a lot of product to professionals as well. read more

I am never going to this place again. I've had a couple bad experiences in this store, particularly with the employees. I've been ignored, insulted, and today I was talked down to. I know my knowledge of electronics is fairly limited, which is why I asked one of the employees (the one with the pierced eyebrow, for reference). I was looking for some help on a simple LED project, and when I asked him what I might need for it, he told me flat out he didn't know, and went off to talk to his coworkers. After looking around the store for somebody to help me (all the employees seem to be talking to each other in the back), I finally got the attention of the person who I can only assume was in charge. He told me the person I should talk to is (you guessed it) the guy with the pierced eyebrow, who had himself scurried off the store floor into the back. Yes, they have a lot of electronic equipment, but unless you need something IMMEDIATELY and know exactly what you need, shop online - it'll be a lot cheaper, too. this place is a godsend if you need electronics components for an art project or other useless diy nerdy contraption and can't wait on shipping. i usually order most things online, but sometimes, i have an immediate need for wire or a switch, which they have a zillion of in a variety of flavors and colors. some of their inventory includes a small selection of leds, shrink wrap tubing in many colors and sizes, solid and braided wire in different gauges and colors, electrical tape in a rainbow of colors to match the wire, switches, relays, heat sinks, soldering irons and other related paraphernalia, circuit boards, connectors. the staff seem fairly knowledgeable and helpful. the selection is much better than radio shack for most things. price-wise, i don't think it's that cheap, but it's convenient. read more

There are thousands of electronic parts to be had here, they cant simply "recommend" something for your specific application. Its like going to Frys, you need to know what youre looking for when you go in. I went in with a silicon rectifier that was burned out. They had my part in stock and tested my old one to verify it was bad. What more could you want? read more

The store is laid out well, easy to find whatever you are looking for and the staff, most of which have been there for years, are very helpful and knowledgeable. I typically by board mounted components like transistors or capacitors and they almost always have these parts in stock for a reasonable cost. The owner is usually there and super helpful and friendly as well. Rarely do I give a 5 star review but these guys deserve it. read more
