We used JK moving services to relocate from Maryland to Florida. I've never paid to have a packing and moving company do the dirty work, but now, I'll never pack/move myself again! They were responsive to my inquiry for a quote when other companies wouldn't even return my calls. The actual cost of the move did come in higher than the inital estimate, despite having someone come out and look in every nook and cranny to estimate both the weight, and time needed to pack and load it all. My only complaint - if you can even call it that - was that there were not enough packers sent to pack up the entire house in one day...I'm not sure if that's related to the estimate being off, or the packing team not moving fast enough. While they were there, they were diligent in their work, not even stopping to eat lunch. They were incredibly thorough in their packing, wrapping items that I wouldn't even thing to pack so carefully. The packing was not completed on the first day, and the loading team had to come in and finish the next morning... The reason this review is getting 5 stars is all because of Glenn. If I knew how to get a hold of Glenn, I'd put him on my Christmas card list! Glenn was the driver of our truck and his fantastic attitude made all the difference...his team was so incredibly hard working and positive that it made an otherwise emotional day actually pretty relaxing...after a month of working non-stop on relocation plans, to be able to take that day and let other people do the literal heavy lifting was an incredible relief. They were as efficient as they could be trying to load up a 3-story town home, and it was FREEZING that day and they trudged on...loading the truck took almost 10 hours, but they were committed to getting the truck loaded since they knew we had plans to leave town the next day. Glenn was also on hand with a local Jacksonville team, Baymedows Moving (who, by the way, were also fantastic) to unload the truck into our new home...this took considerably less time, and he worked all morning to put our bigger items together, walk through our inventory list, and explan all 120 pages of forms I had to sign. Moving is NEVER fun - even when you're leaving freezing Maryland for sunny Florida - but Glenn's attitude and committment to our belongings made the actual move incredibly less stressful than it could have been. I truly cannot say enough nice things about him. Additionally, the main office stayed in contact with us the whole time - called a few days before to make sure I didn't have any questions, the day of packing, the day of loading and the day of unloading just to check in to make sure things were going well. Moving is a stressful time and often can be very hectic. I have moved several times and the last mover I used set me up with storage and then a move to my new home. Since then, I have learned a lot more about the process. The first is that JK Moving actually cares about your move. (Don't they all care?) Some may but others are just working the bottom line. I have met with them many times to discuss moving and each time has been an enlightening experience. Their mission is to make your move as easy as possible. If you are moving, they will send an estimator out to your house who will give you the most accurate cost estimate possible. Rather than shoot for the lowest price, they give an honest appraisal so you don't get slammed with a much higher cost when the move is complete. Getting a great estimate and then getting hit with an additional fee that is much greater doesn't do anyone any good. Is it always exact? No, there are many factors on a move so keeping this in mind will minimize the surprises. Their staff is in it for the long term. Rather than summer job seeking college students, they employ trained professionals that know how to move your furniture. If you don't really care about your furniture then choosing a cheaper alternative may be the better choice. My first apartment had $200 worth of furniture in it and if something fell off of my friends pick up I would not have cared. Now that I am 40+ and actually have a lifetime (or half a lifetime) of furniture and what I consider to be valuables, I need someone I can trust. Last time I looked they are the movers for the Washington Nationals and if they can pick anyone to move and chose JK Moving then that certainly is a vote of confidence. I had a very positive moving experience with JK Moving this past November. First, my move consultant Mr. Joe Pence was very patient, explained the whole process, and gave a very honest estimate of the costs. I was only moving just under 4 miles from an apartment to a condominium but their services were very valuable! I had a very skinny set of 13 steps from the apartment down to ground level with a very heavy queen sleeper sofa! They were extremely gentle and careful with all my belongings and heavy boxes of books! In addition, an included item in the move contract was up to eight wardrobe boxes! They bring them the day of the move and while they are working on other boxes, I filled up the wardrobe boxes. They sealed them, brought them to the condominium and then I unboxed. Once we were at the condo they didn't waste time getting the boxes up the stairs. They could have used the elevator for everything but that would have taken more time and the team lead, Randy, had them use the stairs for nearly everything except the heavier of two pieces of furniture. The other two team members Alain & Victor were just as pleasant, professional, and careful with all of my items. I really appreciate the hard work. My only very small concern is that I labeled the boxes very specifically, as to what room they needed to go to and that was not noted when they dropped the boxes anywhere upon getting them into the condo. Eventually I did say something and the adjusted as needed. In addition, they were moving me into a 910 sq. foot condo so it wasn't that big of a deal to move boxes around my own. This move was short notice because this was a cash contract that came in on March 30, 2018 with a closing on April 4, 2018. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use these guys under any circumstance. I wish I had written my review sooner but did not so my apologies to anyone who has used them in the last couple of months. Not only did these people break my valuables and tear up my driveway with their truck, but they also put all the boxes in the wrong place (and they were clearly marked). I spent three Saturdays moving over 100 boxes and items to where they should have gone in the first place. I spoke with a couple of the execs there and they were not helpful at all. They basically told me too bad. Luckily for me I have already convinced two friends to cancel their reservations to move with them and have also saved 3 co-workers from using them. I'm doing my best to not give them business since they broke my things, tore up my driveway and refused to pay for anything. One of the guys in upper management actually came out to my house, walked around my property and took pictures while my family was not home. I'm not even sure that is legal. Oh and also... one of the movers was telling me about how he got in knife fights at bars. Yeah, that's just who I want in my home around my family and my valuables. NO THANKS! JK Moving company moved me to Georgia a few years ago. When it was time for me to move back to Virginia, I chose JK because of the excellent service I had before - I did not consider other options. The customer service representatives, Wendy and Hadley, guided me throughout the entire process. They were polite, told me what to expect and when, as well as answering my questions promptly. The driver of the truck, Glenn, called me two days prior to his schedule arrival to introduce himself and to let me know what to expect when packing, loading the truck, and approximate transport time. Glenn and his crew arrived promptly at 8am on a Tuesday - they were efficient, polite, conscientious, and kind. They arrived the next morning at 8am. Within six hours, the truck was packed and ready to leave. My furniture arrived on time, and was delivered to the JK storage facility. They will deliver it to my new home, shortly. I talked to a lot of moving companies for my recent move from MD to southern FL. They all had similar names and many lied about how many trucks they had, they were all fast talking pushy sales types. A friend suggested JK and then another a co worker suggested them. I checked them out online and they had several hundred tractor trailers and pretty good reviews so I called them. They actually sent a person to my house (5 bedroom with large sunroom, family room, living and dining room) to look at all my belongings and give me an estimate. He was very polite and professional and not pushy at all and made me feel comfortable that I wouldn't be ripped off. We did most of the packing except for all my artwork (50 plus pieces) which they did. They arrived on time and everyone was very nice, friendly and polite. They worked fast but took care not to damage the house or my belongings. Unloading was just the same and we actually came in under the estimate! I highly recommend them. read more

I have moved many, many times and I have never had one go as smoothly as this one with JK Moving Svs from estimate to delivery. Wendy & Helen were patient, kind and efficient in setting it all up. The crew was professional, on time, courteous and careful. This was a move from Silver Spring, MD to the Blue Hill Penninsula, Maine in the middle of January no easy task given the weather. When the team captain arrived up here in the middle of a snow storm, he and his one crew member did not let that get in the way of a careful unload. Nothing broken, nothing lost and happiness all around, especially with the news that because the load was actually lighter than the estimate the price was lowered accordingly. Got four in-home estimates. I was nervous because of a previous bad move, but moving consultant Christopher Sousa was patient and reassuring, plus straightforward in answering all my questions, as was moving coordinator Matthew Bogert. One day before the move, which was 11/3/17, I asked if we could add a stop at a friend's house to pick up a heavy piece of furniture I was buying from her. This was no problem at all; I just paid a bit more because of the added time. We also stopped at a donation center to drop off a piece of heavy furniture. The job took the amount of time that Christopher estimated--8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No breaks or damage and nothing missing. My excellent crews were Thomas Carroll, Clifton and Lillian for packing, and for moving, Eli Hernandez, Tainier, Richard and Francisco. JK was at the top of the list from both my co-op building manager and my real estate agent - and I now understand why. The move itself was professional and precise, with a courteous, can-do crew. They used smarts and leverage, not just brute force, and packaged some odd pieces I had resigned to transporting myself. During the move, my wood floor suffered a gouge. Oh well, I figured. A week later, when a JK staffer phoned to survey my moving experience, I mentioned the floor damage. Within hours, two other JK folks phoned, and less than 24 hours later, a two-person JK team arrived and expertly repaired the floor. My wife and I had looked into alternatives to a full service moving and storage company for our interstate move from Maryland to Texas. A bit of time chatting with our moving coordinator convinced us to go with JK Moving. I'm glad we did! We were amazed at how quickly and efficiently the team loaded our belongings of the truck. Knowing things were being stored in a secure and climate controlled environment during the months of our search for a new home was one less worry. The delivery team was even quicker at unloading, getting everything off the truck and in the right room in just a few hours. This is a fantastic company! Our experience started with Josh, who came to our home to evaluate the move and give an estimate. He was very personable and thorough. He did a great job!
