John may be a one man operation but he knows his stuff and does a superb job. He responded right away when I first contacted him, most others including those with great reviews on Yelp and elsewhere, either didn't respond at all or refused to come out to check the property or kept asking for pictures etc. without any progress being made in addressing the my Radon problem. I had measured high Radon levels in the basement, up to 17 pCi/L. John thought through the situation effectively, identified a good spot for and installed a Radon mitigation system and did some other sealing work in the basement. Radon levels dropped dramatically after he finished and are now consistently way below the 4 pCi/L level that requires mitigation. I would strongly recommend him if you have a Radon problem. read more

We had a radon fan installed recently. it started making increasing loud sound after a few weeks. We tried to get him to come back to check on the issue for at least two months now but hasn't been successful. He keeps pushing it off because he's too busy. It's a one person company so you're out of luck if there's any issues with it. We had to call another company to replace the fan that he installed. read more

I'm writing an update. John came back to install a radon mitigation system since the lower cost method although reduced the indoor radon level but it still went beyond the EPA recommended safety threshold during rainy days. John spent many hours doing a very neat job getting the mitigation system set up in my basement. When he was done, everything looked so tidy around the system just as what it was before he came. The price is also very reasonable. Now the indoor radon level was always kept near 0. I'm so pleased with his work. I was alerted to the possibility my home may have elevated radon levels by a friend in Leesburg, who recently discovered that his home had high radon. I ordered a $3 test kit from Virginia Department of Health and was shocked to find we had high readings of around 24 pCi/Lin the basement. The first action that's recommended when you get a high reading is to take a second reading, to confirm that it's not an anomaly. Luckily, my friend had an electronic radon meter (they're, like $200) which he let me borrow, and sure enough - 24 pCi/L in the basement, and 16 pCi/L upstairs. I decided I had seen enough, and wanted it remediated. I did a quick Google search and judging from the results, it just looked like "radon remediation" could be the kind of business it's easy to enter with no credentials or experience. A lot of the results just looked shady, or like fly-by-night businesses, so I asked my friend who he'd used, and he said JK Radon, and recommended them without hesitation. I called John the next day, we had a short, productive conversation, and he gave me a date and a quote over the phone. I was clear to me that he knew his stuff, knew his way around home construction and the obstacles he might encounter. He showed up at the appointed team, did a neat, thorough and workmanlike installation, and was pleasant, professional, and courteous. But most important of all - within 48 hours, our radon levels had plummeted by 98%, and to well within the recommended limit of 1 pCi/L. I called to ask about getting a radon test and was told I'd be called back once. Within 30 minutes I was speaking with John, a technician. He guided me over the phone to do the test myself and he gave me all the information I needed to conduct a test myself using the equipment I had ordered, a RadonEye sensor. JK Radon was great. We were in a bind to get a remediation done and JK was one of the only ones that went out of their way to fit us in. The work was done on a Sunday and done very well. We had horribile sellers so it was important JK did the work in a way that was very non-intrusive which it absolutely was. Definitely strongly recommend these guys. We had an existing radon system and did a big renovation and our knucklehead contractor cut through the vent pipe and built on top of it. We called in JK Radon to restore the system to operational. This was tricky because the renovation was complete and what was left of the pipe went through finished walls and terminated under a finished bedroom. John figured out how to route new pipe through existing floors and walls working around floor joists etc including cutting a couple of holes through an exterior wall.
