After patronizing Eagle Gun Range, I agree with the high rating. The attendant, an older gentleman with blue eyes and well kept hair and appearance answered all my questions politely. He informed me of their membership options without being pushy. They even let you shoot forced reset trigger/bump stock and shotguns in their indoor facility which I perceive to be a bit rare these days. I didn't have the full auto weapons but nice to know they allow it. I did enjoy my experience. Prices are probably in line with the market. Gun range shooting is never going to be the cheapest outing, but in the opinion of me and other citizens, it's a necessity to be able to practice our constitutional rights to shoot a gun. It had been probably a year or two since the last time I went shooting, but Eagle will be our place going forward. I recommend it highly.

We checked in at the shop. They were very patient with us as they explained the prices, options etc. Since we were all rooks they said we'd have an instructor help us out and set us up with a larger practice trap stand which had extra bench space. They also offer complementary water which we grabbed on our way to the shooting area. Practice traps are the kind that always shoot in generally the same spot so you don't have to track a sideways moving target. We had a 20ga shotgun which has a smaller recoil. Prices were reasonable. 15/25 traps and then 13/25 ammo, and the gun was 20. Our instructor John met us at the stand. It was a bit of a wait but once he got there he showed us the ropes and hung out with us, helping us out and just being a cool guy. We were there about 1.5 hrs. This was a fantastic experience and im definitely coming back.

The entrance is just to the right of the range. I had a lesson with Brad on drawing from the holster, grip and accuracy ( which was not very good ). Brad was patient and informative and by the end of the lesson my skills were so much better. I was very happy with the 1-1 lesson and I feel more comfortable and accurate. If your going to carry a firearm I believe you really owe it to yourself to be responsible and get trained I highly recommend Proactive Defense

Further, NO ONE at the counter mentioned this to either of us when we checked in -- perhaps they thought we might -- somehow‍, not notice, that it was over 100° inside of the private suites/indoors?? When we checked out, I said to my brother "I'm guessing they'll likely 'comp us' for half or maybe all of the range fee (as we bought ammo, targets and supplies too) because of the hours long sweating in the un air-conditioned private suites?" ...But NO, no such accommodation was made. I have to say, THAT was an EXTREMELY POOR CHOICE for Shoot Smart to make. I have been going to that range for many years -- and yes, they knew it at the time. One example is when I was there yesterday, looking to purchase a gun which I have purchased many guns there, as I was looking at it and the young lady that was helping me ask me to make sure I keep the gun pointed down, OK I get it but it's empty and has the plastic piece in it and then the next guy as I'm sitting there is also looking to purchase a gun and he has it pointed at her and all over the place for several minutesand doesn't say a word to him! Also with our membership, we get 5% off gun purchases and on my last purchase, I asked them what they could do on a used gun I was looking at just to see if they could come down on price and they gave me a price acting like it was a great deal but shorted me $14 of even the 5% that I'm supposed to get on the gun. These are employee issues and not facility, as far as the facility is concerned I've had no issues.

I grabbed this class on a Groupon for a great rate and when I found out it was 10 hours of class I was dreading it, but it was actually so much fun. Unlike most CHL classes that I've heard about the instructor (Mark Payne) actually broke up the important facts and information that you really need to know with interesting stories, videos and clips to help demonstrate what he was talking about and help us all understand the importance of the information he was covering more quickly. Since I went to one of the all women's classes he came prepared with a large number of handguns that everyone could come up to the front and pick up to see how they feel. This was important because most of us had not purchased a gun yet (wanting to know how to use it first) and he took time to talk to each of us about what we might look for in a gun. He also brought fake bullets and allowed us all to practice loading a clip throughout the class so that by the end of the day when we went to take the firing range test we felt confident in loading the clip on our own. I can't say enough how FAST the day flew by, it's what we were all saying on every break and the information was so interesting and Mark was so funny (while still getting across how important it is) that it was very enjoyable. The firing range test was a little nerve-wracking but Mark and his family (who run the company together) are very good at helping you become comfortable and confident, even when firing for the first time! I know I would not have done as well without his help, and I definitely wouldn't have my CHL! If you're looking for a class, GO HERE, you won't regret it!
