I went ahead and set up service that was supposed to happen on a Friday by 10-11am. I checked my cameras and noticed by 1:00 my yard was not serviced. Jose and his team did an amazing job with the landscaping project in our backyard. We're really happy with his work and the result. He and his team were friendly, responsive and polite, they also were collaborative and helped with our ideas. They removed and poured new concrete step, installed pavers, rocks, grass, planters, mulch and a sprinkler and drip system. They did all the clean up, stucco and paint where the previous planter and steps were against the house, and replaced the board along the deck and repainted it. It's exactly what we were looking for! OK, so I'm about 3 months removed from the initial work done by JM Landscaping, and I have to say that Jose and his team have not stood by their promise. When we started with our project, we asked Jose to get rid of our grass so that we could add a desert landscape. There were a couple of things of concern about his plan that now have shown that he did not understand what he was doing. First, he only removed about 1 inch of the grass/dirt. When he was finishing up on the first day, I asked him directly if he was going to dig deeper than he had. He said that he was going to put down week killer and that would prevent the grass from growing. Second, he said that he was not going to put down a barrier between the shallow removed grass/dirt and the mulch that he was going to add. These two decisions by Jose have resulted in a resurgence of the grass through the mulch that we added. Now, I individually put down a cardboard barrier, but that was not robust enough to stop the grass from growing back. As a result, we have a half desert and half lawn. It looks horrible, and it will require us to do a lot of work to fix it. When we called Jose about the problem, he said that this was our responsibility to constantly pull the grass and add weed killer. However, this would have never been an issue if he dug up 3"-4" of dirt and put down a barrier. I've done that before and it has kept the grass from returning. So, if you want to add a lawn, then perhaps Jose can help you. If you're trying to transition to a desert landscape, then I cannot recommend Jose and his staff to help you craft a good project. You'd be keen to avoid his services. read more

I had a bad sprinkler valve causing several sprinkler heads to leak which saturated the ground around them. I had called several sprinkler/landscaping companies over the past few weeks and they were all booked a few weeks out. Too long to wait. I contacted Jose today (on a Friday) and he was here a few hours later and fixed the problem! I was amazed. I will certainly use Jose in the future for my irrigation needs. I found JM landscaping on yelp and contacted them to have some of my leaking sprinklers repaired. Jose responded to my message right away and called me to set up the inspection and estimate. I thought the price was fair for the work that was needed to be done so he was out the next morning and repaired my sprinkler system in less than 2 hours. I was in a rush to get a small landscaping project done before I hosted a party. JM was able to accommodate my request. The project was installing approximately 100 sq feet of pavers, adding 50 sq feet of sod, repositioning three sprinklers and adding a station to a pre-existing watering system. Drip tubing was added in two small planter boxes. I knew I was overpaying for the job but that was my decision. What I didn't anticipate was the lack of pride in the work done. When I got home after being told the job was done, I found that several pavers were loose, uneven cuts made to the pavers, the spray from the sprinklers for the grass were not positioned correctly, the added watering station was not connected AND there was two large bare spots where sod was not installed. Thank goodness he had not been paid yet. JM returned two days later and completed the work except for the uneven cuts. No pride in the work with minimal effort. After he left I found sand from the paver install swept into flower/plant boxes. Couldn't it be swept up with a dust pan and thrown in the trash? And I just noticed that the last paver installed is completely different than the others!! Disappointing to say the least. Lesson learned on my end too. read more
